BellaPOV
Chapter 36
''Why are you here Caius?'' My voice was cold, emotionless.
''Bella, you know him?'' Edward demanded, his eyes searching mine.
''She knows me through Carlisle, no doubt.''
''Yes.'' I had heard about him; he could cover up scents and track people and he was ruthless about it. ''But what I don't know is why the Volturi are here, we have done nothing wrong; there is no need for you to be here.''
''That's where you're wrong, sweet Bella. I am not here for the Volturi, but for Marcus. I have seen the pain he has suffered from the loss of his mate; he wanted to fight with the ladies, but I offered; he cannot fight like he used to.'' He sighed, acting as if he was remorseful.
Plus, he loved a fight. I didn't believe him; he wasn't doing this for Marcus. Of course this wasn't 'Volturi' business, the Volturi don't fight randomly. But he did, and if we fought him, we'd be accused of killing a Volturi member. Double standards.
''But you cannot kill unprovoked; Aro will see what you've done; and you will be punished.''
I didn't believe it myself, but I had to believe in something; argue about something.
Caius just liked fighting; he cared about nothing and no one. ''Edward, come here.''
He was still a few feet in front of me; he knew nothing of fighting and I had enough skills to hold them off for a while; but not for long.
He began walking backwards slowly, his eyes never leaving the three predators. Mine didn't leave them either.
I didn't like this, was there more of them? I couldn't tell, I couldn't smell anyone else, I couldn't smell anyone.
''You can try to run,'' Victoria laughed. ''but you're surrounded my vampires like us, who have lost their mates. Soon, Isabella, you will join us.''
''You will not hurt us.''
''I'll hurt him,'' she purred. ''You'll just be hurt from that.''
''Alec.'' Caius called.
''Oh shit.'' I cursed before I could call myself. Thick invisible smoke inched its way around us, not heading for us, but trapping us in. it circled all five of is in a ring; I couldn't see Alec, but I didn't need to.
''Don't touch it,'' I demanded. ''It cuts off all your scenes, you're just trapped in your own mind.''
''You see, you fight, or we kill you.''
''We fight, you kill us, we don't you kill us, right? You're sick.'' I spat.
Irina laughed. ''Maybe, but at least we'll get out of this alive.''
I had to hop forward with the mist, we all did. Now the distance between us was closing in and instead of being nearly thirty feet between us, now there were only ten.
Don't do anything stupid or reckless.
I willed the thought to reach him; I replayed it in my mind, over and over hoping for him to get it.
His head moved slightly and others may have thought he just moved, but I knew he had nodded at me.
''Why is Alec here?'' I demanded. ''He loose a mate we didn't know about too?'' I mocked, glaring at Caius.
''Alec is here as a favour to me, but that is none of your business.''
''Everything happening here is my business. You attack my mate for no reason and his sister, my friend. And then once we think we can breathe for a minute, here you are once again in my face threatening me and my mate.'' I fumed, my legs had been down in a crouch, ready to pounce for a while now and I was more than ready for whatever they could through at us.
''That was quite a little rant you had there, Bella.'' Victoria smirked. ''any last words?''
''Uh, how about, screw you?''
She shrugged, her red curls swaying as she did so. ''As you wish.'' She snarled, right before she pounced, I was prepared, but she didn't attack, she just pushed. As I slid backwards into the fog, the only thing I could see was Caius and Irina going straight for Edward.
I cry escaped me, not form any physical pain, but from the vivid image of them killing Edward, I couldn't let that happen. I found the fog, colourless and swirling around my feet. Yet I still felt.
My eyes glared into Victoria's horror filled ones and it was my turn to smirk. Now she was trapped; not me. I flung myself forward and grabbed at Victoria; she dodged my advances easily. She bared her teeth and snarled, flying at me.
My guard was let down for a moment; just less than a second, but that was all it took for Victoria to get to me. Her arm wrapped around me, squeezing, in one effortless motion she could just kill me. But I knew she wouldn't; not yet.
Edward was still fighting, I realized he knew what they were planning; all their advances. He steered clear of the fog and of the waiting clutches of the soulless beings that cared about no one but themselves.
I prayed he didn't look over to me; to glance and see me in this death hold. It would surely distract him.
The fog began to retreat; a painful rush of fear ran through me. Was Alec coming to join the fight? To help out, a sixth hand to help capture Edward, just so they can kill him in front of me? I jerked in an attempt to free myself from her grasp; but she just tightened her hold on me, jerking me about as if I was a piece of meat.
But Alec let out a scream of pain from behind me; I hadn't seen him, but I sure heard that. I let out a sigh. It was my family; it had to have been my family…
Victoria growled. ''Kill him!'' she screeched. ''Kill him now!''
She was so enraged I took this opportunity to try and make my escape. Flipping her over onto her front so I was kneeling in her back with both of her hands twisted behind her.
But I looked up, and just as I captured Victoria, they captured Edward.
''Let her go,'' Irina snarled. ''let her go and we'll let him live.''
Ahhhhhh, so, what do you think will happen? Please review and tell me what you think. I didn't update on Thursday as this chapter got deleted and I had to recreate it, which if any of you have had to do, you'd know what a hard time that is. It's like you question every sentence and you just don't' want to write it. I'm sorry. Please review, Thank you ;)xxx
