"Boom, bitches!" Kurt said, exiting the booth. "That's all I got for today."
"Fortunately that's all I need," Gavin, one of the producers, said. "You guys can go. We can record the final track tomorrow, and do any touch up stuff next week."
"I think I'm going to stay," Dani said. "I want to play around with a few things."
"No problem," Gavin said, nodding. "I'll queue up a few empty tracks and you can mess around with them."
"Thanks!" Dani said, grabbing her guitar.
The band said their goodbyes, but Santana stayed back. "Want to hit the booth again?"
"Yeah," Dani said, moving into the box. She nodded at Santana, who started the track. She played a few chords, and then really got into it. It was a slower number than what they usually did, but it was complex. She didn't sing at all, just played. Finally, she stopped and nodded again. "How long was I playing?" she asked when Santana gave her a thumbs up.
"Six minutes. Hold up, I'm coming in."
"Are you going to add some vocals?" Dani asked.
"Not over that one. We're recording right now - throw me a curve ball."
Dani grinned and started playing a faster number. She'd actually written it a few days before, and she'd been dying to play it.
Santana began to sing the oddest conglomeration of lyrics ever - from her deep love of cheesecake to talking about her stuffed elephant, Daniel. The chorus started, "And youuuuuu, smell like Craiglist…." which made Dani break down laughing, but she kept playing.
Finally, they stopped. Dani kissed Santana, and said, "Let's go."
"Not yet," Santana said, pulling her back with a smirk.
"Oh, no. I know that look. We are not having sex in the recording booth! It's probably still going!"
"It's not. We've been screwing around for like ten minutes. The tracks are only six and half tops," Santana said, pulling Dani closer.
Dani took her guitar off and kissed Santana. "You sure?"
"Positive."
Rachel was flushed bright red. Kurt and Elliot were both on the floor laughing. Dani and Santana were looking anywhere but at their bandmates.
"This is probably the most awesome thing that's ever, ever, happened in my studio," Gavin said, grinning.
"Sorry," Dani and Santana muttered.
"Are you kidding?" he said. "This is fantastic." He finally broke down laughing.
"Holy balls," Elliot said. "Lord Jesus help me." He managed to pick himself and Kurt up off the floor. "We have got to use this on the CD."
"Are you out of your mind?" Santana asked.
"No," Dani said, shaking her head.
"Please! Oh my god!" Kurt begged. "Hidden track at the end! The song was badass anyway!"
"No."
"Hell no."
They would already never live this down.
