Jane is dead.

How should the Bots ever be able to return home without the power of the stars?

The team was back at the base.

After Ratchet had brang the ship's system back online, Optimus ordered to hide the Warship in the desert.

"I will bring Jane to my mom. She might know what to do." Jack had said and pulled my body on Myra's back.

"Jack, she is dead... You can't..."

"I am not giving up, Arcee. If there is any way to bring her back..."

"Then go. But take Miko and Raf with you."

When the Bots arrived at their base, they found their five human friends shocked and dispirited.

Agent Fowler sat around doing nothing, but stared at a door. The whole situation was too much for him.

"Jack..." Arcee said. "Are you alright?"

"I am not dead." He sniffed.

"You could have done nothing... Not against Shockwave and Megatron."

Ratchet looked at the kids.

"But that's it! We could have helped her! ... If we would have been faster..." The older boy blamed himself.

"Jack, I know this is hard, I don't want to believe it either, but we couldn't have protect her..." Miko gave Jack a hug and closed her eyes. The boy, instead of hugging her back, jumped from his seat. "Miko, you are right! We couldn't have protect her, but she can protect herself!"

"You lost me. Jack, she is dead. She can't protect herself any more..."

"And that's where you are wrong! Jane went through so much, don't you think that the power of the stars is able to save her life?!" He pulled out a necklace.

"Jack, where do you have this from?" His mother asked.

"Jane gave it to me. It was in the first days after I had freed her. She said it would protect me."

"It has an interesting energy signature." Ratchet stated.

"It's because Jane stored the power of the stars in it."

"But if this contains her power..."

"We will only find out when we try."

The boy ran down the stairs and opened the door to the back, where my body lay under white cloth.

He pulled the cloth away and looked into my scratched-metallic face.

"She was shot when Staria... During the transformation... Who knows if she will be herself? What if Staria...?"

"Jack, do it."

He took a deep breath and closed the necklace. The small jewel lay on my chest.

Nothing happened.

"Jack..." Miko lay her hand on his shoulder.

"I thought it would work."

"Jane believed in friendship... One last try..."

But nothing worked. Chapfallen, the team had to understand that they had lost me forever.

They went back into the main hall.

"Jack, are you coming?"

"Just give me a moment, Miko."

The girl closed the door behind her.

"What about Jack?" Arcee asked.

"He... I think they were more then just friends... He doesn't want to accept it."

In shock, June stared at Miko. "They were a couple?!"

"I think so. At least Jack had or still has feelings for her ... and I know that Jane felt the same way..."

For a few seconds, no one said a word but suddenly, Miko turned around. "Something is not right." She ran towards the door and opened it. As soon as the door was open, a blue flashlight lit the room and smashed Miko against a wall.

"Miko!" Arceeand Bumblebee had to hold Bulkhead back. The girl lay on the ground and groaned.

"Easy, Miko. Can you stand up?" June was at her side.

"I... I am okay." Slowly, the girl stood up. "Where is Jack? He was in there!"

"I am alright!" A male voice came through the door. "You are not going to believe this!"

The boy appeared in the doorframe. His facial expression showed shock, surprise and fear. "She is gone."

"What?!" Bulkhead's eyes widened.

"I... I wanted to leave the room, but then there was this light and suddenly she was gone!"

"You were lucky, not to be hurt." Ratchet stated and looked at the empty camp bed where I had lain.

The white cloth were ripped and partly burned.

"What do we do now?" Raf asked.

It had been two hours since the happening. "Now that Jane is gone..."

"Considering the legend of the stars, her powers must have been transferred to the next worthy human." Optimus said and looked at the kids.

"Humans, Optimus. Jane had carried the power of four stars. And honestly, how are we going to find those new stars?" Meanwhile, June had understood everything.

"We are not going to find them." Miko pointed out.

"And how do you know?" Bulkhead looked at his partner.

"Because there are no new stars. Jane took her power with, wherever she might be. She hasn't disappeared, I bet this was a groundbridge."

"And how do you know that?!"

"Because I do. Jane and I talked and I don't believe that she has lost her powers. Otherwise, she would have disappeared right after her death, like Lyn did."

"Lyn... Maybe you are right." Alley hadn't said a word since hours. "This is different to everything that has ever happened. What do you know about the weapon Shockwave shot Jane with?"

"Nothing, to be honest. I have never seen anything like that before." The boys nodded to Miko's explanation.

It was useless to talk about something they had not seen before and it came to be that the whole team just sat or stood there for quite some time.

They all turned to Ratchet when the monitor gave a sound and showed a signal.

"What is it?" Arcee asked.

"MECH."

Jane has disappeared, but is she really gone? And why of all does MECH now appear on the screen?
