Alright everyone I am so so sorry about the long wait, hopefully future updates will be quicker though I can't make any promises. This fic is not cancelled, and it's not over yet and I'm certain it won't be for a while. I appreciate your patience though, it goes to show that you're willing to wait if it's worth it.
Now this chapter, as the title says…puts an end to most obstacles in the Potter children's way. James and Ginny are going to have spots, but is this the end of their little issues? Angelique and Severus keep their relationship a secret, but who was it that saw them kiss? What's going on with Voldemort? Are they closer to finding out his weakness? Also, might have a surprise towards the end of the chapter.
You'll have to read along to find out, hopefully this will ease some of your tensions.
Written by myself and my sister author AnnaBoleyna1536, and we don't own Harry Potter.
Enjoy!
Back at Hogwarts:
"Phantom, come."
"Woof!" Angelique and Phantom were touring the halls of Hogwarts, coming back from the library after a long few hours of studying and homework. Things had gotten busier after the holidays ended, but Angelique wasn't worried and finished her work like she would've.
Ever since the kiss with Severus Angelique began to feel more and more alive around the man; the relationship as they knew it was a secret, because if others found out there'd be several issues with the public. One being the age difference, and two being the fact that Angelique was the girl-who-lived and could have any boy her own age but Angelique didn't want a boy her age she felt she had the right to choose who she'd want in her life.
In other words, Severus Tobias Snape was Angelique Dorea Potter's boyfriend and if the rest of the world didn't like it they could all go to hell. The only person Angelique told about the relationship was Abbey, and Abbey said as long as her sister was happy she was happy too. Charlie being gay had spread around the school, but no one dared approach him about it since Angelique made it clear as did Abbey and Charlie that being gay wasn't put in disdain in the magical world. Charlie and Ron had gotten more open about their relationship, and even some of Charlie's old housemates came out like Finnegan and Thomas, both boys took an example from Charlie and Ron and they seemed to be becoming friends.
"Hungry girl?" Phantom shook her head no. "Alright, what's say we go for a walk in the gardens?" Phantom yawned. "Wait a minute you snuck out last night didn't you?" Phantom lowered her head. "Alright girl go back to the room and sleep, your food should be there when you wake up." the dog's tail began to wag happily and she jumped up to lick Angelique's face. "Alright go on." Phantom disappeared and Angelique sighed.
'Now…what to do next?' she found an empty bench on the corridor, lucky for her classes were in session so no one would be looking around for her.
"Merlin's book…" she pulled the book from her bag. "Show me Voldemort." the book glowed slightly and opened to reveal Voldemort just lounging in a chair with Nagini around him. He seemed to be lost in thought, but he wasn't angry or tense, surprisingly calm.
"Shall we wait much longer master?" Nagini hissed.
"Not too much longer, soon enough Angelique will be mine. I will not let a prize as fine as her get away so easily." he stroked her scaled head.
"She is the only one worthy of you master."
"Indeed, she will give me many heirs." Angelique shivered slightly at the way he hissed, and after seeing him enough she closed the book and leaned back against the wall.
'You can't give up can you Tom?' no matter what the man did Angelique would never consent to being his queen. Tom had no morals or goodness in him, he just had his charms to manipulate others to do as he pleased. 'What will I do about this, what is the key to finishing him?'
"Ms. Potter." Cormac McLaggen's voice got to Angelique, and she sighed in annoyance.
"And I was having a good morning so far…what do you want now?"
"Just to talk, and apologize." she turned to him.
"For being an insufferable twit?" he nodded.
"I've been…a bother to you and I'm sorry. I would like to make it up to you." her eyes narrowed.
"You? An apology would've been enough, and if your idea of making it up to me is to have me date you then you can just walk away now." she turned to grab her bag, but she heard him chuckle.
"You might think otherwise if you see this." he showed her a photo, of her and Severus kissing.
"Where'd you get that?"
"I did a little browsing on Christmas evening, figured I'd see you and…" she snatched the photo from his hands and her painted nails turned into sharp claws, one going into the hollow of his neck.
"Not wise to blackmail a witch twice as powerful as yourself McLaggen, who gave you this photo?" she put pressure on his neck, and he began to tremble. "Come on Cormac, don't be stupid. You were nowhere near the Weasley home…who took this picture?" his eyes darted around.
"J-James Potter…"
"James Potter, figures." she didn't let him go. "What did he tell you to do? Seduce me, and if that didn't work blackmail me?" he nodded. "You don't really want me do you? What did he promise you a new career in Quidditch?"
"S-Something like that…" Angelique laughed.
"How pathetic, to risk your freedom and education in assistance to a man who will likely end up broke before the war is out." she removed her nail.
"What?"
"Blackmailing an apprentice to a Hogwarts professor is punishable by expulsion, you'll find the rules are quite strict when it comes to ones like me. It's the same as assault, even attacking a professor though it depends on the reason. I could report you to Severus, or Dumbledore and I can guarantee you wouldn't find a career in anything magic related." she laughed. "Potter is a fool, and you are one as well."
"Please don't report me, I'll do anything."
"Oh really?"
"Yes, look he just wanted me to get you alone so he could talk to you. He didn't say why, just that I show you the picture and he'd take it from there." looking down at the picture, Angelique couldn't help but smirk.
"You've just given me leverage, now…run along before I turn you into a goblet." McLaggen didn't hesitate to leave, but right before he disappeared around the corner Angelique shot an Obliviate at his head. He would forget the encounter, the photo, and the talk with James Potter.
'Fool.' Angelique had no doubt Potter would show up, but she was ready for him. Right as the bell rang for classes to get out, Angelique used her magic to change and slither away into the dungeons. Severus' class had just ended and the room was empty.
"You're here." she changed form.
"Yeah, seems someone caught wind of us." she showed him the photo, and his eyes glared.
"Weasley?"
"No, James. He must've been snooping around the Burrow that night, McLaggen was brought into it but he's not going to a problem anymore."
"I don't need to ask, what do you wish to do?" Angelique shrugged.
"Summon him here, and let him know this will be his last mistake on threatening me." Severus groaned.
"Potter doesn't quit ever, he acts like he's still in school it's a wonder he's been able to remain the way he is for so long and yet no one but you and I have pointed out how much of a bastard he truly is."
"He'll never stop, this is his way of craving some kind of attention because he's lost custody of his children, his marriage is dead, and his livelihood is pretty much in shambles. He's a lost cause to the magical world." this had to end, Angelique was quite fed up with Potter's games, but perhaps they could fix this before Potter could pull anything else.
"We'll summon him, I'm sure he won't refuse if he believes McLaggen has gotten to you."
"He's never been very smart." Severus cast a silencing charm around the room and opened his floo,; quickly he moved to a far corner of the room so Potter wouldn't see him , and prepared with his wand drawn. "Potter!" Angelique threw the powder down and James' face appeared in the fire.
"Angelique dear, I assume you got my message?" he had a smug look on his face.
"Indeed, and I must say that I'm a little impressed by your tactics. Snooping, no trespassing at the Weasley home, among other things…now come through, we have to talk." he smirked, and Angelique stepped back just enough for him to get inside the classroom.
"The potions class, still being Snivellus' apprentice are you? Or is it more?" Angelique didn't let the smirk get to her.
"You already know, you had McLaggen blackmail me with that photo. Tell me is it the only one you have left? Or were you smart enough to make more?"
"You're in no position to make demands of me Angelique, you are my daughter and I'm sure a boy like McLaggen would be better than an old man like Snape."
"Severus is far better a man than you, and he's not some lecherous schoolboy like Cormac. You can't blackmail me James, you've already lost too much from your own stupidity and neglect."
"Only because I didn't give you what you deserved, how a child like you became the girl who lived I'll never understand. Charlie would've been better, even Abigail would've been, but you…no not you. You were born a freak of wizards, and you like to flaunt it at me." something was definitely off with James, more than usual.
"You lost your wife and children because you chose to pick favorites, and to be a monster. You think you're a valiant Gryffindor? You're nothing but a low-class piece of shit, always have been. I know how you were in school, and you seem to believe you can still be that stupid boy. At the very least Black has grown up a bit, and Remus is far better than both of you. Pettigrew…well he's not really much of anything but a cowardly rat."
"Indeed, but if I can control you…"
"Control?" Severus made himself known. "Honestly Potter you have lost several IQ points if you think you can control Angelique."
"Snape…" James growled. "Hiding like a snake in the dark, how typical."
"Have you forgotten who she's gone against? Who she killed? In fact have you forgotten who she is exactly?"
"Killed?" James looked back at Angelique.
"You don't know?" Angelique couldn't be surprised. "Fenrir Greyback."
"Not possible."
"Really? She came back covered in his blood, and made a mess of Bellatrix Lestrange but she's lucky enough to live. Angelique is not some twinkly-eyed schoolgirl, she's far from it frankly because she learned at a young age how cruel life truly is."
"You be quiet Snape."
"No." Angelique disarmed him immediately and Severus caught the wand. "You will be quiet, and you will listen. Nothing you say or do will make me stop seeing Severus and McLaggen is not my problem anymore; you are a lowly excuse of a wizard, and you don't deserve to be a father or anything else for that matter."
"You dare…"
"Hush." she talked to him like a child. "Charlie and Abigail are under my protection, and Remus and Black will never be your friends again. Lily may have a chance out there now that her eyes have been opened a bit, but you never deserved her. You had things handed to you as a kid and you take life for granted, and soon enough you won't even have a life should you keep messing with me. I have a war to end, and I'll be damned if I let you get in the way."
"I'm not afraid of you."
"You're obsessed with me, more than you've ever been since the truth came out. You seek to control me like Voldemort, but you are nowhere near as strong as he is. If you try more you'll fail, and if you try to hurt those I love you will suffer worse than Greyback." Angelique's eyes darkened as she spoke, and James seemed to be understanding through fear.
"You're also afraid of her, yet you deny it." Severus got closer. "Angelique I care for greatly, and I won't let you hurt her."
"Like you cared for Lily?" James turned on him. "You loved her, and now you're going after my daughter."
"Lily?" Angelique looked at Severus too.
"You haven't told her? How you and Lily used to be friends, and how you wanted her for yourself but you got mad that she chose me and then you screwed up when you told Voldemort about the prophecy."
"No he hasn't, but so what?" Angelique grabbed the back of James' robes. "You are nothing to me, and you'll never be in my life. Take it as a warning, and if you try and blackmail me again…I might just let you get killed." the man paled.
"You're bluffing…"
"I never bluff." she laughed. "My promises fall through every time, and I can assure you…nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see you rot." every word hit hard like stone, James let his fear show in his eyes. Without another word he made it back to the floo, and Angelique tossed him his wand just before he left.
"You handled that well…" Angelique pulled away when he tried to touch her.
"You were in love with Lily? She was the woman you loved in your school years?" Severus closed his eyes and sighed, but after a few moments of silence between them he looked directly at Angelique.
"Yes." one word, and Angelique's heart hardened and partially broke at the same time; this secret she had wondered about, and now that she thought about it the story made sense. "It was a long time ago, but I don't love her like I once did. It's you I care for…"
"Because I look like her?"
"No." he shook his head. "While you do resemble her, you're not Lily. You're not James, and neither are your brother and sister…"
"Why didn't you tell me the truth that day? When you came to Remus' cottage?"
"Because you were hurting and upset, I didn't want to make it worse. I had planned on telling you, but not until the right moment." Angelique began to remember the pain of losing Cedric, her anger, her tears, everything came flooding back. Her body swayed, and the tears began to threaten to fall, but when Severus touched her hands she took her chance and left the room. Severus called her, but she kept going until she got outside and sat under a tree just near the doorway to Hogsmeade.
'He loved her…' Severus had fallen in love with the very woman who crushed all of Angelique's chances of having a mother, and he didn't tell her. She began to cry, letting the tears fall since no one was around. Why would she cry? Severus obviously cared about her, and he would protect her though she didn't think she'd need it.
'Why?' placing her head on her knees Angelique got all the emotions out, all the unwanted feelings she longed to never feel again. It came out, no one was around to see this, or at least she thought when a small little laugh was heard.
"Well well, it seems the great Angelique can cry after all." Angelique slowly looked up to see Ginny Weasley there, trying to look big and brave and she had her wand in hand.
"What do you want?" wiping her eyes dry Angelique was not in the mood to play games with this tramp.
"I saw you leaving Snape's office, and I can only guess why you're so upset right now."
"Other than being annoyed by a bitch like you, I can only get upset for so many reasons." Ginny frowned.
"I wouldn't be so mean if I were you, after all I'm going to get Charlie back…we'll get married, and then you'll have to be nice to me." Angelique rolled her eyes.
"If you still believe that, then you are as delusional as James Potter."
"James Potter is a good dad to Charlie, you just got in the way by letting him wander too much and then letting my brother take him."
"I didn't do anything other than give Charlie the support he needed, James Potter…don't get me started on him." she stood up. "How exactly do you plan on wooing my brother when he won't give you a second glance?"
"I have my ways; all he needs is a little push."
"Let me guess, love potions?" the girl's eyes twitched, and Angelique pulled her wand out. "Accio love potion." a small bottle flew out of Ginny's pocket and into Angelique's hand.
"Give that back!" she reached for it, but Angelique's hand quickly shoved her backwards and after putting away her wand she grabbed the girl's throat and slammed her against the tree.
"Foolish little girl…" the potion bottle smashed against the concrete, and Angelique's eyes glowed red with anger. "You are the dumbest, most pathetic, inadequate little witch I have ever met. You can't get someone to do as you please so you use other means to make them. Your feeble attempts at swooning Charlie will never work, he's not the weak boy you and Granger preyed on two years ago…he will NEVER be yours."
"He's…mine…" Angelique's hand squeezed harder.
"He's not your property, nor is he anyone else's. I'm getting very tired of your childish squabbles, and if you don't cease the act I will not hesitate to hurt you. No one will hurt me, or my siblings ever again and I have bigger fish to fry right now." she let her go, and Ginny fell to the ground breathing heavily.
"I'll tell McGonagall…" she threatened.
"No, you'll tell no one because I have other means to move you. If you try anything to hurt Charlie again…well then I'll just make you eat dirt." to show her she wasn't kidding Angelique shoved Ginny's face into the dirt and smudged it across her cheeks and mouth. "I can do far worse than that, so please…no more trouble from you or it'll only make my day more fun." Ginny coughed up the dirt and spat it out.
"You…can't do that to me." Angelique leaned down to her level, and their noses were barely touching.
"I can, and I will." the words came out in a hiss. "You will never approach me again, is that clear?" Ginny was terrified now. She nodded her head yes…and after Angelique used a spell to clean her face she ran off back into the castle. When she was sure no one else was around Angelique moved as quickly as she could back to her room.
"Woof!" Phantom greeted her, but she saw Angelique's hard stare.
"It's okay girl…come here." they sat on the bed together, and as Angelique began to imagine back to Severus' words…she also began to wonder if she allowed her emotions to overcome her then she would lose sight of things.
'I have to be more careful, I can't let this go on.' maybe Severus didn't intend to hurt her, but she was still angry with him. Who could blame her really? Yes James Potter had blown the whistle, but Angelique was the one willing to make the catch.
'I can't face him right now, but I won't let them tear me away.'
So things are starting to get heavy right now, and not just on the romance part. Angelique has said her peace once again with James and Ginny, so it looks like they won't be much of a problem anymore.
Next chapter…we'll see if Angelique forgives Severus, or if she holds him to his words and he ends up proving his love for her but not before something happens. Voldemort may strike again, but this time he'll either go for Hogwarts or someone Angelique greatly loves. Lucius Malfoy comes close, but what could he do to help? Abigail and Charlie, are they going to get involved? Sirius and Lily…what's going on with them? Guess you'll have to find out.
