So, first off... sorry for the shortness of length. I had this idea since earlier this morning (finishing at 11 p.m.) and I just wanted to write if up. I also went ahead and introduced sister, because why not. I promise that next chapter will be better :)
"Do, re, me, fa, so, la, ti, do, ti, la, so, fa, mi, re, do~" I sang as I pulled out a pot, with the intent of cooking myself a meal. I repeated the same steps from last time I made instant noodles as set to water to boil. I began to hum the trumpet part for a song we played back in college, "When marimba rhythms start to play, dance with me, make me sway. Like a lazy ocean hugs the shore, hold me close, sway me more. Like a flower bending in the breeze, bend with me, sway with ease. When we dance you have a way with me, stay with me, sway with me." I started dance to the familiar rhythm as the instruments cycled through my head, "Other dancers may be on the floor, dear, but my eyes will see only you. Only you have the magic technique. When we sway I go weak. I can hear the sounds of violins long before it begins. Make me thrill as only you know how. Sway me smooth, sway me now." I once again hummed the instrumental as I looked up to see Tucker looking into the kitchen, "U-um... How long have you been there?"
"Long enough." He laughed, "So, what're you doin'?"
"Well," I sighed, "aside from making my first proper meal since long before that mission?"
"You don't have to be snippy about it." He spoke in a mocking tone.
"Wow." I scoffed, "Someone's in a good mood, despite the face that you just preformed something genetically impossible a few hours ago."
"Yeah. About that..." He sighed, "I feel like I'm forgetting something."
Many Years Ago: Freelancer.
"How the hell does she not remember us?" South questioned the man in white that had been sitting at a desk next to me.
"Well," Lazerus turned his head away from the microscope, "She's supposed to be dead, so wouldn't this be the better bet?"
"Listen, you." She stood up but was brought back to her seat by her brother.
"Hey, try to keep it down." The doctor sighed, "I'm technically not suppose to have people in here while she's like this."
"Then follow orders." I huffed, "I... don't really wanna hafta deal with people this morning."
"That sounds kinda like about the first week I've known her." Wash tilted his head to the side.
"Wait." South perked up for a second, "If she doesn't remember any training, does that mean we're all getting a placement up?"
"Let's cross that bridge when we get there." North suggested.
"Or... how about we don't cross any bridges? How about we all just wake up back in our beds and be happy that we get to continue college." I suggested as I stepped out of the bed, falling face first.
"You forgot about that, didn't you." Lazerus gave off a short, unconcerned laugh.
"Yeah... Just a little." I mumbled as Wash helped me up and back onto the bed, "I just don't know why I'm not able to control this dream... Maybe my brain isn't strong enough. That's probably something to do in the morning.
"Well, here's a recap... This is not a dream. You're been shot in the head and the chest. One of those bullets has affected your motor skills, making you in able to walk."
"Would paralysis or going loony also bring us up the ranks?" South asked before being nudged by her brother, "What? It's an honest question."
"If it's permanent, then yes." The doctor sighed as he looked back into his microscope.
Present Day
"Hey!" Tucker snapped his fingers in front of my eyes, bringing me back into reality.
"Uh... Wha?" I looked up at him.
"You've been doing that for the past while." He spoke with a concerned tone, "Is everything alright?"
"Yeah. I'm fine." I mumbled before boiling water splashed onto my hand, "Ow!" I retreated my hand to see the pot of water bubbling violently. I fumbled around to turn off the stone then held my hand.
"You alright?" He asked as I turned on the cold tap water and held my hand under it.
"Yeah." I grit my teeth, "It's just another way to get me back into focus... Just... go outside and see your kid." I pulled my hand away from the water to see the small bubbles of a second-degree burn begin to form.
"That's what I've been forgetting." He laughed.
"Or maybe you've decided to repress that memory." I joked as I held my hand under the water a little longer.
"Who's this." I raised my eyebrow at Sister as I made sure the wrapping on my hand were taut, trying to act like I didn't know who she was.
"This is Sister." Church spoke up, "She's the newest member of blue team."
"Wow. We out number them, now." I laughed.
"Oh yeah." Tucker sounded surprised as Tex walked in behind everyone, "We do, don't we."
"So there's another girl here, too?" Sister practically cheered as she brought me into an embrace.
"... Someone get her off." I practically pleaded, but no body did anything. They only laughed. I let out a sigh as I was forced to push her off, causing her to fall onto the ground, "Next time, don't make me resort to anything that could inflict wounds." I sighed as I stood up from where I had been seated.
"Tucker," Church turned to face the man in teal (seriously... is that his armor color?), "this is what I told you about how girls can't share anything."
"Fuck you." I huffed as I started walking, "If anyone needs me, I'll be in my room."
