Attention all former, current and new readers! This is NOT a standalone story; it is part of a faux story lineup I have written as part of a continuation of the TV series. If you have not previously read the stories, or chapters, that come before this one, I highly advise at least giving them a onceover. A list of the stories that I have written for the lineup can be found on my homepage here on this site. It lists the stories in their correct order. However, if you wish to continue, you may do so at your own discretion…you have been warned.
Danny Phantom is owned by Butch Hartman and Nickelodeon Studios. Any OCs are created and owned by me or have been used with permission by their original creators.
Kim Possible is owned by Disney.
At last! It has finally arrived! The next chapter in the story is finally here! It took me forever because I practically wrote this thing paragraph by fricking paragraph. Sorry about the long wait by the way. After this, I only have two more chapters before this story rewrite is finished. It has been a long road since I started this stories rewrite, and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
To recap the previous chapter; our heroes managed to escape from Freakshow's twisted illusionary world only to find themselves under attack, with my OC Kim becoming the first casualty. How many more will there be you may ask? And how will they ever manage to cope with their numbers, and willpower, dwindling by the minute? Read on below to find out.
KM's blank, lifeless eyes stared across the ground where she lay, disturbingly motionless, save for her hair, fluttering with the brief gusts of wind that blew through the clearing. She wasn't breathing and her heart wasn't beating. She hadn't even had time to take in what had happened before she was struck down by Freakshow's beam of life-draining energy. Now her friends would have to carry on without her help.
Ron stood over her lifeless body, his eyes scanning over her, looking for any sign of life. "Umm, Kim?" he asked in a whisper, desperately hoping that she'd answer, hoping that she was just playing a trick in order to fool Freakshow; but she didn't respond. She was really gone.
They all knew it was a possibility, given that they were all putting their lives on the line to save the world from the reality bending madman, but to actually see one of them losing their life in an instant wasn't something that they'd been prepared for. It happened so suddenly, and there was no way of stopping it from happening. Freakshow could have done that to any of them whenever he wished, but then he wouldn't be giving them a sporting chance. He preferred watching them suffer as he picked them apart. He'd do it one by one until there was no one left to stand in his way. And it was all because he had full control over the Reality Gauntlet; the Gem of Life in particular.
Danny knew beyond a doubt that the Gem of Life could be used to give life to inanimate objects, and creations made by the gauntlet's user; but he had only suspected that the gem had the power to take life away as well. There was nothing stopping Freakshow from using it again to take them all out, unless they could somehow get it away from him again, but that was as unlikely as ever now that he had full control. And he doubted the madman could be tricked into lowering his guard again like last time. He'd have to give everything he had if he wanted to end Freakshow's game.
"The power of the Gem of Life is truly remarkable," Freakshow said as he held up his gauntleted arm and began examining the gems inserted into their respective slots. "It can givith life, and it can takith away," he said with a sinister grin as he raised his gauntleted hand and clenched it into a fist. "A lesson she learned the hard way," he taunted, indicating KM's corpse laying on the ground. "And a lesson you will all be taught momentarily," he hinted, glancing at the others that had been bound to a nearby tree, suggesting that they could be his next targets, unless he could be stopped.
"NOOOO!" Danny screamed with anger as he rushed towards the madman with his fists charged with ecto-energy, ready to strike. Freakshow's smirk only widened with delight as Danny sped towards him, often fizzling in and out of sight as he appeared to teleport through the air in order to reach the madman faster.
"DANNY!" Dani screamed after him as he threw an energized punch, only to have it stopped by an energy shield that held fast against the power of his attack. Freakshow smirked up at him through the shield with a gleam in his eye. He was about to make things interesting, for himself at least.
"Ron!" KP called back to him with urgency. "Leave her for now and go help the others!" she ordered him. He stepped away from the other Kim's lifeless corpse and looked to her with concern, which she addressed promptly. "Danny and I can handle this," she reassured him.
"Hey!" Dani shouted at her angrily, drawing her attention to the younger ghost hybrid. "You can't just expect me to stay out of this!" she argued with the older hybrid.
"I'm not," KP responded, shaking her head. "Didn't you hear me?" she asked. "I said, Dani and I can handle this," she repeated herself, this time with a smirk directed at the younger girl, indicating that she had been referring to her. Dani returned the smirk before they both began to charge through the air to lend Danny a hand.
With fists charged with ecto-energy, Danny threw several punches at Freakshow's barrier, swiping repeatedly, only to have his explosive punches bounce off with no effect. Jumping back a bit, Danny's entire body began glowing with green energy before four duplicates appeared, surrounding Freakshow's energy dome. They all charged more ecto-energy into their hands before they all fired five continuous beams of energy at the barrier; four from the sides and one from directly above. The energy barrier flexed and compressed under the intensity of the five Danny's attacks, but it did not break.
Freakshow's wicked grin grew darker as he crossed his arms in front of himself as he built up ecto-energy in the gauntlet. Soon after it began to glow with a blue light, quickly spreading across his entire figure, he threw his arms outwards, releasing the energy he'd built up into a massive wave that expanded the energy barrier outwards towards the five Danny's.
The four on the sides of the barrier all halted their attacks as they were overwhelmed by the expanding dome of energy. They threw up their arms to protect themselves from the expanding energy, but they were all dissolved away into mist by the sheer intensity alone. Danny himself, floating above the energy barrier, didn't waver as the energy dome began to expand, never stopping his attack until it was eventually rebounded onto him. His energy wave was sent right back at him by the explosive outward force of Freakshow's expanding energy dome.
"Whoa!" he exclaimed as he barely managed to dodge out of the way of his rebounded attack. It sped by him, missing him by a hair, as it continued high into the sky before exploding. He watched the flashing green light of the explosion for a moment before looking back down, expecting to find Freakshow looking back at him, tauntingly; but was met, instead, by the circle of dust on the ground where the energy barrier had once been, with no Freakshow to accompany it. "Where did he-?" he began to ask himself before a sudden thought dawned on him. He quickly spun around to watch out behind himself, only to receive a powerful blow to the side of his face.
Freakshow, with a joyful grin on his face, had appeared behind the ghost teen, and landed a powerful blow to his teenage opponent with his gauntleted fist, sending the ghost teen crashing into the ground where he skid across the dirt for a short distance, leaving a carved trail in the ground, before he came to a stop.
Danny groaned as he pushed himself up into a sitting position and winced as he rubbed the back of his neck and the side of his head before he saw a faint red glow through his closed eyes. Upon opening them, he froze where he sat with sudden fear as he realized that Freakshow was now standing on the ground a short distance in front of him with his gauntleted hand aimed right at him. The gauntlet was glowing with a bright red light as Freakshow pushed down on the Gem of Life with the index finger from his free hand, essentially building a charge in the gauntlet.
"I would normally ask, 'Is that really the best effort you could give me?'; but considering all that we've been through tonight has worn you down, I'm just going to say, 'You certainly know how to entertain'," Freakshow taunted him, getting an annoyed glare from the ghost teen. "I've thoroughly enjoyed myself, but sadly, all good things must come to an end," he sighed, though his smirk remained joyful. "I've had a lot of fun, but I do have work to do, and a world to bend to my will. So that being said, it really is time for our final goodbyes. You'll be with your little friend soon." The energy that was building up in the palm of his outstretched, gauntleted hand, began to condense into a ball of energy that began to spark and pulsate; it seemed barely able to contain itself. "So, goodbye, Danny Phantom. It's been a blast," he bid farewell before he began cackling like the madman that he was.
The moment he stopped laughing and stared wide-eyed at the teen, he caught sight of green and orange glows off to either side of himself. Confused by the potential sources of these colored glows, he cautiously glanced off to one side and raised an eyebrow as the orange glow grew brighter. He gasped with shock after turning his head to see the green glow coming from the other direction getting brighter as well. Without time to react, he was struck from either side by a pair of green and orange ecto-energy blasts that exploded on contact, enshrouding him in a cloud of dust.
When the cloud of dust began to settle, Freakshow could be seen hiding behind his arms as they were crossed in front of himself. His ringmaster suit was slightly disheveled, but other than a few smudges on his clothing and face, he was relatively unharmed by the pair of energy blasts. More annoyed than anything else, he lowered his arms and, with a look of curiosity, glanced back over his shoulder at his attackers.
Standing side by side some distance away, KP and Dani were standing in crouched positions with their arms outstretched, aimed directly at the madman. Their hands were still letting off orange and green smoke respectively. Both glared at him angrily as they lowered their arms to their sides and clenched their hands into fists as they stopped letting off colored smoke.
"You two have finally decided to intervene," he stated, rather than asked, as he peered over his shoulder at them. He stood back upright from his defensively crouched position and turned slightly so he didn't have to twist his head around to look at them. "Normally it would be a sign of cowardice to attack a man from behind; but rather, I'd say it must have taken all the willpower you had in you just to muster up the courage to attack me at all in your current conditions," he regarded them, speaking of their long since disheveled appearances from fighting all night long. He then glanced back at Danny with another smirk, though his eyes appeared somewhat apologetic. "Sorry, Phantom, you're just gunna have to wait a little longer," he "apologized" to the ghost teen, surprising the hybrid a bit. "Besides, having a little more fun never hurt anyone," he said as he eyed his gauntleted hand, still holding the pulsating ball of charged red energy.
"No," Danny managed to whisper, his eyes wide and filled with horror, as he knew what Freakshow had in mind now for the girls, for the madman had been about to do it to him.
Raising his gauntleted arm and turning to face the girls, he thrust his arm forward without any warning, or prelude, to what he was about to do, releasing the built up energy into a powerful beam that raced across the ground, straight for the two girls.
"NOOOOOO!" Danny screamed, both in horror and anger, before he too fired a beam of ecto-energy of his own from his eyes, aimed directly for the madman's back, which had by now been turned fully towards him.
Freakshow needed no warning however, and with an evil cackle, he spun back around, swinging his gauntleted arm, and essentially swatted Danny's energy beam back at him. Danny hadn't had time to realize that his attack had rebounded back onto him; and so, was unprepared for the blast. His own attack struck him in the chest and blasted him backwards. Having been half laying in a carved trail in the ground already, when he was struck by his own attack and blasted backwards, he only extended the trail back even further. Though, when he came to another stop, he groaned from exhaustion and nearly nodded off as he tried to maintain consciousness. He couldn't afford to give in at such a desperate time such as this; he had to push himself, to keep going in spite of himself.
As for the two girl hybrids, they stood rooted to the ground as Freakshow's beam of red energy came right for them.
"Kim! Brace yourself!" Dani yelled to her as she jumped into the air and turned to face the older hybrid.
"Against that!?" KP yelled in response as she turned towards the younger hybrid, but was met with the younger girl slamming both of her feet into her chest. She was pushed back by the force and fell over backwards as the beam of red energy passed between them. It was only after she'd fallen onto her backside did she realize that the younger girl's warning had been to brace for the kick that would knock her away, rather than the beam of red energy that would have done a lot more damage, if it didn't just straight up kill her on the spot, like it did the other Kim.
After kicking the older hybrid out of the path of the red beam of life draining energy, and narrowly avoiding being hit herself, Dani back flipped in midair and landed on the ground before pushing off and charging straight for Freakshow, much to his amusement. Charging blue energy into the gauntlet, he prepared to strike at her before she got to him, but she fizzled away from sight, surprising him slightly before he realized what she'd done.
It was the same trick she had pulled on Monkey Fist earlier in the night. Several Dani's were currently running around him in a circle, at speeds that made her movements difficult to follow. However, unlike Monkey Fist, whom had been completely disheveled by her little trick, Freakshow was not so easily fooled.
"You might have caught that foolish Simian by surprise," he taunted the girl as she sped around him in circles, preparing to strike. "But against me; this same trick won't work twice," he warned her as he raised his gauntleted hand up and dispersed the already gathered blue energy into his fingertips, producing five small balls of glowing ecto-energy.
Swiping his arm out in a long arc, he released all five balls of blue ecto-energy at the five Dani's racing laps around him. All five were shocked by his potential solution to her method of catching him off guard, but she wasn't about to be caught off guard herself. Acting in unison, all five Dani's jumped and spun in the air, kicking Freakshow's energy balls directly back at him.
Freakshow was not surprised by this in the slightest; with a bored look in his eye, and a quick reaction due to Dani running in circles so close to him, he raised his gauntleted arm and held out his hand, halting all five energy attacks mere inches from him. They floated in a circle around him before they all began to circle around him. Their speed increased until all five had morphed into a ring that revolved around him faster than even Dani was running laps around him, much to her own shock and surprise.
Crouching down, and raising both hands up, he forcefully pushed them outwards, away from himself. This motion caused the ring of spinning energy to explode outwards, away from himself. Dani had no way of avoiding it this time; and so, all five of the ghost girls were completely enveloped by the explosion. Four were completely eradicated while the fifth, and real Dani, was blasted into the air and sent crashing to the ground some distance away with her face in the dirt not too far away from where KM's body lay. As she lay on the ground, a ring of light appeared, transforming her back into her human form.
"Now then, if there are no more interruptions, then I can tend to the helpless," Freakshow chuckled as he turned away from where the ghost girl had fallen and went to face the others that had been bound and gagged to a tree. He was instead met by an orange blast of energy that managed to catch him by surprise, and even knocked him back a few feet and into the air. With new fury burning in his eyes from being caught off guard, he glared at his attacker and found KP standing between him and the others as Ron tried to free them in the background. Both of her hands were outstretched in front of herself and were aimed at him. They were still letting off an orange mist from the attack she had just produced.
"I'm not as helpless as you may believe," she growled before crouching into an attack position. "If you wanna get to them," she said, motioning to the others over her shoulder, "then you're gunna have to go through me," she warned him.
Freakshow's fury quickly melted away when he realized that she was willing to entertain him some more before he finished things up. "Well I'm certainly not opposed to tearing someone in half in order to accomplish that," he snickered with a wicked grin as he held up his gauntleted hand and infused it with blue energy.
Not waiting for her to strike first; he thrust his gauntleted hand forward, shooting a beam of blue energy at her, striking the ground at her feet, causing her to jump high into the air where she hovered for a moment before she charged him with one of her own fists pulled back. She prepared for an enhanced attack by infusing her fist with energy in order to hopefully increase the effectiveness of her strike; if she could hit.
Freakshow only smirked at her before he raised both of his hands and produced a circular blue barrier that; from the attacking KP's perspective; quickly turned into a ring of blue energy with a view of the ground inside of it. "Huh!?" she gasped with confusion as she tried to stop but found herself approaching the ground far too quickly.
Floating behind the strange blue ring of energy, hidden from view by the scene within the portal; Freakshow, slightly confused by what he'd just done, held it in front of himself. He glanced over his shoulder as a second ring of blue energy, showing a similar scene within it, appeared directly behind him.
Not able to stop in time, KP passed through one ring of blue energy and immediately exited through the other, essentially warping around her target entirely. This put her too close to the ground, forcing her to act quickly in order to land without hurting herself. She quickly ground to a halt, crouching low to the ground before she spun around and glared at the man with spite as he started laughing again.
"I was trying to form a barrier that you'd crash into," he began to explain. "I honestly wasn't expecting this portal thing," he admitted as he began inspecting both ring portals on either side of himself. "But it'll work for me all the same," he concluded before smirking back down at KP.
This only fueled her anger towards him; and that anger expressed itself with her eyes glowing with an orange light that she proceeded to attack with. She released her pent up anger in the form of a pair of eye beams that quickly raced for their target.
Again, he was able to retaliate, and this time in a manner that she should have seen coming. Grabbing both ring portals with his hands, he flung one towards the ground like a Frisbee while spinning the other so that it was between him and the ghost teen. KP's eye beams promptly entered through the second portal before emerging from the first. She was quite shocked to find them now redirected back at her after having passed through the portals. Too shocked by this new method of redirection, she was struck by her own attack, blasting her back a ways until she crashed to the ground, like the Phantom siblings before her.
Descending to the ground, Freakshow casually walked over to her as she lay prone on the ground. "You children are an entertaining nuisance," he informed her as he raised his gauntleted hand and began charging a red ball of life draining energy. She caught sight of the red glow and looked up at the charging ball of energy with fear in her eyes. "A bothersome lot, really," he continued. "It's been fun, but it really is time to settle this and get on with other, more important, things. I've had my fill of fun for the night, so it's time to put this little game to an end."
"You might want to hurry, Ron!" Monique shrieked when she saw what was about to happen to her friend. The whole time the hybrids had been fighting Freakshow, he'd been busy with trying to free the others that had been bound to a nearby tree with ecto-energy. He'd freed her's and Jazz's mouths and was now busying himself with untying their energy bonds.
With his entire body glowing from the use of his Monkey Powers, he gave one last yank to their energy bonds, tearing them away and freeing them from the tree. Jazz, Monique and Cujo didn't waste any time and immediately raced off in the direction where KM's body lay motionless and where Danielle was trying to push herself off the ground. Rufus hopped away and looked back at Ron as he turned to rush towards KP's aid.
"Hold on, Kim!" he yelled before he pushed off from the ground and charged towards Freakshow, who currently had his back to the Monkey Powered teen. "ARGH!" he yelled as he approached the madman from behind with both of his fists outstretched.
Despite the teen's yelling, Freakshow hadn't had time to react before Ron made contact, striking him in the back with both fists. The sudden impact forced him to release his red energy ball off in some random direction, where it collided with a tree that then proceeded to shrivel away into dust as it aged quickly before dying. The sudden impact also had the benefit of sending him off his feet and flying over KP, who ducked her head under her arms as he flew over. He crashed into the ground behind her before looking up in aggravation. Ron now stood between him and KP, and he was prepared to take on the madman.
"You kids are just like cockroaches," Freakshow growled with disdain as he pushed his way to his feet. "Squash one, and another crawls out from a hole in the wall."
"You know, not a big fan of the whole cockroach thing," Ron mentioned casually with a tilt of his head and a small wave of his hand.
"You won't be a huge fan of the whole dying thing either when I'm through with you," Freakshow said with irritation before he thrust his gauntleted hand forward and shot a beam of blue energy at him.
Ron avoided the blast by front flipping into the air before landing in front of Freakshow who then proceeded to punch at the teen with his other hand. Ron easily blocked the punch with one arm before deflecting a blow from Freakshow's gauntleted fist with his other arm. Freakshow then spun around, extending out one of his legs, hoping to trip up the teen, but Ron was ahead of him and front flipped over his whole body. Upon landing behind the madman, he crossed both of his arms over his head, blocking a swinging blow from Freakshow's gauntleted arm as he swung it down onto the teen's head.
As Freakshow prepared for another assault, Ron cupped both of his hands by his side before spinning around and thrust them towards the madman who seemed quite taken back by the motion before he was suddenly thrust backwards by the sudden release of kinetic energy. He crashed into the ground but recovered quickly. As he pushed himself up into a kneeling position, he glanced up at the teen as he began to growl with hatred and frustration.
A short distance away, Danny was struggling to pry himself from the carved out section of ground where he lay. With one arm behind him, prying himself off the ground, and the other pressed against his chest where he'd taken his own energy attack that'd been redirected at him, he watched as Ron evaded Freakshow's attacks whilst getting in a few of his own. "Hang in there just a little bit longer," he groaned as he struggled to pull himself fully out of the ground.
"Ugh," Danielle groaned as she pushed herself onto her hands and knees. After shaking her head to clear it, she took notice of her hands and examined one of them, noticing that she was no longer wearing gloves and her suit had disappeared. She'd transformed back into her human form.
"Danielle!" she heard Jazz call out to her before the older girl rushed to her side, wrapping her arms around the preteen. "You can't keep going?" she asked with some desperation, knowing that if she couldn't continue, then their chances would diminish greatly.
"I'll be alright, I just need a moment to recover," she reassured her sister before she turned her head and spit blood onto the ground. "Go and check on Kim," she advised the older girl as she pushed herself up and sat on her knees. "Her body needs to be looked after," she reminded her as she focused her attention on the fight between Ron and Freakshow.
With a look of sorrow, but understanding, Jazz gave her one last hug-squeeze before she ran over to KM's prone body. Monique was already sat on the ground with the girl's head laying in her lap; her unblinking, lifeless, eyes staring off into the distance. Rufus stood on the girl's stomach with his head hung in mourning. Kneeling by her dead friend's side, Jazz squeezed one of the dead girl's hands in hers as tears began to well up into her eyes.
Danielle was brought back to herself when Cujo ran up to her and began licking at a bleeding cut on her forearm. "How come you haven't jumped into it yet?" she asked the ghost pup as he looked up at her with worry.
"While you guys were trapped in that "reality bubble", Freakshow used the gauntlet to prevent him from transforming," Monique answered for her, as Jazz was currently too distraught over the death of her friend to provide an answer.
"And it's permanent, because he has full control over the gauntlet's power," Danielle whispered upon realizing that the ghost pup couldn't help them at all in this fight. He'd be stuck in his smaller, puppy form until they could get the gauntlet back and undo what had been done. "All the more reason why we can't fail," she growled as her gaze left the ghost pup at her side and resettled on Ron and Freakshow.
Standing and fighting again, Freakshow raised his gauntleted arm over his head before he swung it down, attempting to bring it down on Ron's head. His swinging arm was halted when it was caught between both of Ron's arms. He had them crossed over his head, and Freakshow's gauntleted arm was caught between them.
Ron pushed Freakshow's gauntleted arm back up into the air, leaving the madman temporarily vulnerable. Bringing both of his hands back, he held them near his chest before he thrust them both forward. "ARGH!" he yelled as he released another burst of kinetic energy that struck Freakshow, forcing him to stumble backwards several yards.
He managed to maintain himself on his feet and growled angrily at the Monkey Powered teen as he charged at the madman through the air. Raising his gauntlet arm again, he aimed at the teen and fired a blue energy wave at the charging teen.
Ron halted his charge and jumped high into the air, dodging the blue energy wave as it struck the ground and exploded. Freakshow looked up at the teen after he'd jumped and barred his teeth in anger as the teen pressed on with his attack, intending to strike at the madman from above with a supercharged kick.
"Time to stop monkeying around," Freakshow growled to himself as he raised both hands over his head and formed another ring of energy that turned into a portal.
Ron fell right through the newly created portal, emerging from another portal a short distance away. He ended up stomping the ground, rather than kicking Freakshow as intended, but was unfazed and looked around quickly in order to spot his enemy before he could get the drop on him. He spotted KP off to his right a little ways with Freakshow now further off to his left.
"You are, most certainly, very persistent," Freakshow sighed now that he didn't have the teen beating up on him like a monkey. "But I doubt you'd fight as well if you were stricken with grief," he said with a smirk. He raised his gauntleted hand and began charging it with red energy as he shifted his gaze from the Monkey Powered teen to the Ghost Powered one behind him.
"Huh?" Ron questioned, not quite getting what the madman had meant, but caught on quickly when he turned and fired a red beam of energy in a direction off to Ron's side. He turned and found that Freakshow had aimed the attack at KP, and she was still struggling to get back to her feet.
Fear and uncertainty showed in her eyes, along with the red glow of the energy, as it got closer to its target. The fear preventing her from trying to move; she didn't think she'd have time to move anyway. Her demise was almost a certainty. She thought this was the end, but suddenly found herself being shoved out of the way.
"Move, KP!" Ron shouted as he pushed her out of the way of the beam of red energy, only to find himself in its path instead. His eyes widened when he realized what was about to happen.
"NOOOO!" KP screamed in terror as Ron became enshrouded with the red energy as it struck. He was blasted off his feet and fell to the ground on his back. As the dust settled, his head rolled to the side, his eyes staring off into the distance and his mouth hung open. "RON!" she screamed as she finally managed to get to her feet and ran to his side and began to shake him softly.
"No," Danny groaned as he finally managed to get back to his feet, though he still clutch his chest with his arm, wincing in pain as he maintained his balance whilst standing. "Not another one; we're dropping like flies," he groaned with worry over losing another friend to this madman's rampage.
"Common Ron, get up," KP said with a slight nervous chuckle as she shook him harder, with no response from him. "Stop messing around," she said as she started to get really worried. "Ron?" she asked again as she desperately tried to wake him up by shaking him again. "Ron, no!" she started to weep upon realizing that Ron wasn't coming back. He was dead, Freakshow had killed him, and she realized this. "He killed you," she said with no expression in her voice. "You risked your own life to save mine, and now you're dead."
Her worried and horrified expression turned into hatred filled with revenge. Her eyes started glowing bright orange, she clenched her hands into fists at her side, she grit her teeth together making one of them crack from the strain. She was so furious she was starting to shake and growl with anger.
"Ron…" she growled under her voice as her anger continued to build. "Ron!" she said angrily as she slowly turned to face Freakshow as he laughed hysterically to himself. She closed her eyes and looked away as tears flung from the surface of her cheeks. She opened her eyes again and they were filled with burning fury. She growled again and looked up at Freakshow with fire burning in her eyes. "You're a monster!" she yelled up to Freakshow, gaining his attention away from his laughter.
"Hmm, well, you're not wrong," Freakshow admitted as he looked off to the side and smirked with delight. "Though to be fair, I was aiming for you," he pointed out as he began to examine the gauntlet. "However, if you'd like to make a move, I'll happily rectify that mistake," he offered with more joyous laughter.
It was his joyful laughter over the slaughter of her boyfriend that pushed her over the edge. "This is for RON!" she screamed as she unleashed a single powerful ecto-energy blast at him. It sped across the ground before it was merely batted away by his gauntleted hand. He merely smirked, even as she suddenly charged him at full speed.
"HA!" he shouted as he thrust his gauntleted hand in her direction, releasing another ring of blue energy that revealed an opening to another location within the clearing.
She was quite startled by the sudden appearance of the portal ring in front of her. She tried to stop, but was going too fast and slid right through, coming to a full stop only after passing through the end of another portal ring. She immediately began looking around to assimilate to where she was in regards to her friends and the madman. She noticed she was about twenty feet in the air now, but didn't have time to search for where her friends were, or where the enemy was, before she suddenly felt an excruciating pain in her abdomen.
After teleporting her into the air, Freakshow took flight and flew up to where she had emerged from the portal ring. With her disoriented, and still trying to regain her bearings, she hadn't noticed him flying towards her until he had flown right up to her and kneed her in the stomach. She gasped for breath and spat spittle from her mouth as her arms went to grab at stomach to sooth the pain. This allowed him to grab her by her throat with his gauntleted hand and raise her up, over his head.
Fighting the pain in her stomach, she tried to fight back against the hand that had her by the neck. One hand grabbed onto the gauntlet while she aimed her other hand at Freakshow's head, charging it with orange energy as she threatened to blast him in the face from point blank. His joyful smirked never faltered as he used his free hand and grasped her wrist, pulling it away from his face and forcing the energy she had charged to dissipate.
"It's a shame that your rage blinded you to the dangers of charging in to attack blindly," he chuckled as he squeezed her neck even harder, cutting off her air supply. "I'd have thought that your ghostly mentor down there would have taught you better than that," he taunted as his eyes shifted to look at Danny on the ground as he glared back up at the madman. "In any case," he continued, shifting his gaze back onto the Ghost Teen that was now his captive, "that little stunt of yours has sealed your fate," he warned her as his body began glowing with blue energy that passed into her as well. Her hate filled eyes returned to fear once more as she felt a tingling sensation spread throughout her body as she began to glow with blue energy as well. "And it will most certainly be your last," he said, his eyes widening in a predatory manner.
The tingling KP felt continued to intensify until it felt like something inside was being torn apart. With one hand gripping her throat and the other gripping her wrist, Freakshow pulled his arms away, pulling KP with them as she appeared to separate at his will. KP's eyes widened with horror, not from still having Freakshow's grip tighten around her throat, but at the sight of the red-haired human girl that now hung limply from his other hand by her wrist. Freakshow had separated her human half from her ghost half!
"Well, well, would you look at that," Freakshow mused as he elevated KP's human form slightly so he and her ghost form could get a better look at her. "She's still alive, but completely unresponsive or reactive," he pointed out. Her mouth hung open slightly and she just stared off into space. She had been rendered a human vegetable. "It would seem that you have retained the entire essence of your humanity, leaving her nothing more than a comatose meat-bag," he laughed as he shook her human form up and down. "She's no more of a threat to me, so I'll dispose of you first," he spoke to her ghost form when he was done shaking her human form.
KP's ghost form's eyes filled with fear and dread before she felt herself being shocked as bolts of ecto-electricity began coursing through her body from the gauntlet that still held her by her throat. She couldn't even scream, she could only hope that the pain would stop. When the flow of ecto-electricity stopped, her arms dropped to her side as her body let off smoke. She stared towards the sky in a daze before Freakshow's grip around her neck slackened and she was thrown a ways away from the madman and allowed to fall back towards the ground.
"A nuisance," he murmured as he aimed his gauntleted hand at her as she fell towards the ground. "But hardly a worthy opponent," he said with a smirk as he began to charge a ball of pulsating red energy.
"NOO!" Danny screamed from the ground, realizing that, while he was now back on his feet, he wouldn't be able to stop the madman in time to save her from what he knew was about to happen next.
"Ha-Ha!" Freakshow laughed joyfully as he released the energy in the form of a red beam that raced towards KP's ghost form's body as she continued to fall towards the ground.
Her eyes heavy from exhaustion, both from a long night of fighting, as well as being electrocuted, KP could only watch as the red beam of ecto-energy raced towards her. She was only able to react when the energy hit her, full force, in the chest. "YAAAAAH!" she screeched in horror and agony, her eyes finally widening to show the true horror she felt, knowing that this was the end.
Her body was subsequently blasted towards the ground where the energy then exploded, carving out a deep, elongated trench in the ground from the resulting blast, toppling trees and leaving only a cloud of dust and smoke amid the eerie silence that now filled the edge of the clearing.
"And so ends the World Hero known as Kim Possible," Freakshow mused to himself before he scowled down at KP's human form, still hanging by her wrist in his grasp. "Or, at least, it will be, once I've disposed of this," he grumbled with disgust as he aimed his gauntleted hand at her. "Nothing but dead weight, really," he remarked given that she was completely unresponsive and unreactive, she showed no emotion; only managing to stare off into space with her mouth hung open limply. She was unable to perceive that her life was now in danger. He began to charge another ball of pulsating red energy, and prepared to fire, killing her too, but Danny wouldn't have any more of it.
"Leave her alone!" he screamed at the madman as he jumped into the air and charged the madman, firing a beam of ecto-energy from one of his fists as he did so, hoping to stall Freakshow long enough to save KP's human form from such a horrific demise, as her ghost form had experienced.
"Hmm?" Freakshow hummed, his attention caught by the now enraged teen. He glanced over his shoulder at the rapidly approaching beam of energy, and smirked. He quickly spun in the air and kicked the beam of ecto-energy away, quite effortlessly, before throwing KP at the charging ghost-teen.
He gasped in surprise as he halted his charge towards his enemy. He had been hoping to save KP; but didn't expect to have her thrown at him. Her unresponsive body slammed into him, sending them both back towards the ground, crashing into it in a cloud of dust that quickly settled.
"Ugh," Danny groaned as he tried to sit up, finding KP's human form now cradled in his lap as he rubbed the side of his head. He looked up and glared angrily at Freakshow as he descended towards the ground and stood over the two teens with his still energized gauntlet aimed at them both.
"This time, I'll finish you both off at the same time," he said with a delighted grin, quite content with the way things had turned out for him.
Danny growled angrily at the madman in response as KP's human form pawed at his suit before lightly grabbing the collar. As she was still staring off into space with unresponsive, unblinking eyes; this was her only means of expressing herself. She may not have been herself, but at least she knew enough to try and seek some form of comfort knowing that she was about to meet her end. She wasn't as lifeless as had been implied.
Before Freakshow could deliver the final blow however, he was once again distracted.
"NOOOOO!" Danielle cried out as a ring of light appeared around her, transforming her back into her ghost form, and startling Cujo enough for him to jump away with a yelp. She knew she was out of energy, and wouldn't be able to maintain herself for very long, but she was prepared to give everything she had in order to stall Freakshow just a little bit longer. Forming twin energy spheres in her hands using all the energy she had left, she thrust them at the ground.
The energy spread outwards, gathering underground, forming cracks through which green light shone through, before it was all directed towards Freakshow, who had turned his attention away from the older teens to glare at her with annoyance. The energy sped towards him, through the ground, uplifting bits of stone and earth as it raced towards him.
"If you wish to be the next fatality, then fine. Far be it from me to deny you this one last reprieve," he shouted with anger and frustration at being distracted from his main objective. As the energy built up under where he was standing, light shining through cracks in the ground around him, he redirected his gauntleted hand at the ground and released the red life draining energy just as the ground beneath him exploded upwards.
He appeared to be completely engulfed in the green energy that exploded upwards, but the energy quickly morphed until it was blood red before it was all forced back into the ground, leaving a very displeased Freakshow completely unscathed from the attack that had been meant for him, save for the small crater he now stood in. The redirected red energy, having been sent back underground, now raced back to where it had originally come from.
Dani gasped fearfully when the red energy suddenly began to pool under the ground where she stood. Red light shone up through the cracks as it threatened to explode upwards, permanently eliminating her from the fight. Panic quickly set in, but she was unable to react to it, as she had been frozen with dread. She wouldn't be able to escape the fate that had been set for her.
Before she had time realize what was happening, she found herself being shoved out of the way as the red energy exploded upwards, out of the ground where she had been standing; much like her energy had done to Freakshow moments ago before it was redirected back at her. The explosion knocked her back quite a ways, first slamming her into the ground before she skipped and landed again on her stomach a short distance away. By the time she had settled, she had fully transformed back into her human form.
She managed to look up in time to see Jazz fall to the ground a short distance away, landing on her front side with her head turned so she was facing the ghost girl. Danielle's eyes widened upon realizing that Jazz must have been the one to push her out of the way of the blast, saving her life; but when she realized that her older sister's now cold, lifeless eyes weren't looking at her in order to make sure she was alright, she came to a sudden and horrific conclusion. Jazz was dead, having sacrificed her own life to save Danielle's.
"NOOOOOOO!" Danny screamed in dread as it felt like his world was shattering around him. With KP's human form still in his arms, he sped passed a rather bemused looking Freakshow.
"Hmm, not the one I was aiming for," he grumbled to himself as he lowered his gauntleted arm to his side, ignoring the ghost teen as he sped by. "But at least it's one less troublesome pest for me to have to deal with later on, I suppose," he settled on the bright side.
Danny raced for his older sister's side as Danielle crawled over to her and lay the older girl's head on her lap. With a look of dread, and without looking away from his older sister, he carefully managed to set KP's human form on the ground before reaching out and grabbing one of Jazz's hands and held it tightly, as if hoping that she'd tighten her grip as well.
Cujo had wandered back up beside the dead girl and whimpered his sadness over her loss as Danielle looked up at Danny with tears streaming from her eyes. "Why did she do that?" she croaked, hoping he might have an answer. Despite the pain and horror he felt, he hadn't burst into tears like she had. He only continued to gaze upon Jazz's lifeless eyes as if searching for life within.
"Danny!" he heard Monique screaming as she ran up to them as quickly as she could while dragging Ron's now lifeless body, with one arm draped across her shoulders, over to them. "I'm so sorry," she pleaded, managing to draw his attention away from his sister for the moment. She too looked broken hearted over the loss of her friends. "If only I'd stayed by Kim's side with her, then I might have been able to stop her," she tried to explain, hoping he wouldn't blame her for not keeping Jazz out of it. "But, I just couldn't leave Ron," she exclaimed, indicating him as she lay him beside Jazz.
Rufus had since left KM's side and hurriedly hopped over to be by Ron's side instead. The naked little rodent was so heartbroken by the loss of his human companion, he couldn't help but grab onto the loose cloth of his shirt sleeve and bury his face into it as he let out crying sobs.
"No, you couldn't," Danny admitted, his voice shaking as his hands tightened into fists before he went back to looking at his sister. "It's not your fault. If you'd have stopped her, Danielle would be dead instead," he reminded her. Danielle didn't even respond as tears continued streaming down her face before falling onto Jazz's cheek. "If anyone is to blame, it's Freakshow," he informed her. The very mentioning of his name only worked to anger the ghost teen, indicated by his eyes widening as a few blood vessels grew over the whites of them. "It's all his fault," he growled, his anger beginning to tremble.
Some distance away from the grieving teens, Freakshow watched them as if he were deep in thought before he suddenly snapped himself back to reality. "Oh well, it doesn't matter anyway which one of them had been killed," he reassured himself, concerning the older teen that had been killed in Danielle's place. "They are all beaten and broken," he reminded himself as his eyes quickly passed over the four casualties the teens had sustained. "They are no longer a threat," he concluded as he began pushing the gems on the Reality Gauntlet in sequence before they all lit up simultaneously.
When they all began to glow he turned his gauntleted hand upward and released a beam of red energy towards the sky that released pulsating rings of light the quickly spread, resulting in several changes across the globe. The US capital building was turned into a giant circus tent. The four Presidential faces memorialized in the granite stone of Mt. Rushmore were replaced with four mugshots of Freakshow, either laughing or grinning maliciously. Corn and wheat fields across the country were turned into fields of giant man-eating snapping plants. Cars across the world were turned into mini clown cars, the occupants-turned clown suddenly finding themselves crammed into the tiny vehicles as the roads they were transversing were turned into roller-coaster tracks, complete with bridges that formed death-defying loops. Several iconic buildings that lined city skylines across the globe were turned into giant hit-the-mallet games. In short, the entire world was made a new in Freakshow's ideal image. The only area left unaffected by his changes was the clearing that he and the remaining teens were located.
With him distracted by the changes he was making to the world, Freakshow failed to notice the disturbance in the still settling smoke nearby at the edge of the clearing. The cloud of smoke began to swirl into the shape of a tunnel as it was lit up by an orange light from deep within the smoke itself. A beam of orange energy suddenly shot out from the smoke tunnel, dissipating it and helping it to settle faster.
"Wha!?" Freakshow gasped in complete shock, noticing the beam of orange energy out of the corner of his eye only moments before it struck him in his side, throwing him off his feet and into the ground. The power of the gauntlet subsided and further changes to the world's reality ceased for the time being as Freakshow slowly pushed himself onto his side before glaring at whomever had dared attack him, with seething fury.
As the remaining smoke cleared away, his attacker was revealed to be a blue haired girl wearing a suit of black and orange. Her eyes glowed a brilliant, bright neon orange as orange smoke wafted from her outstretched hand. KP's ghost form was still alive, even after a direct hit from Freakshow's life-draining attack.
"KIM!" Monique screamed in shock when her friend revealed herself to not be dead quite yet, at least not in the traditional sense. Danielle even looked up with surprise; though Danny was still too preoccupied with coming to terms with all that had been going on.
"No, that's impossible," Freakshow seethed with anger as he stumbled back to his feet and held his side where he'd been hit. "You should be dead right now," he declared, as if not believing what he was seeing.
"Actually, it's Kim Possible," she responded tauntingly before she smirked. "And technically, I'm already dead," she further taunted, rewording a line that she had heard Danny use a few times since his arrival.
"No, no, no," Freakshow growled, his anger growing. "The powers of this gauntlet transcend the limits of normal ghosts. You should have been obliterated from existence! So how did you survive!?" he demanded to know.
"Hmm," she grinned, flashing her teeth. "That's for me to know," she taunted him before her smirk turned into a frown and she began to scowl with seriousness. "And for you to never find out," she declared as she shifted herself into an attack stance.
"Have it your way," he growled in retaliation as he brought up his gauntleted arm and held it in front of himself as all four gems began glowing with a bright white light that quickly spread, engulfing his whole form before he was transformed into his chosen ghost form; complete with green skin, four arms with black spikes coming out of his forearms, large bat-like wings and a stomach with what appeared to be a large face that acted on its own in relation to Freakshow's emotions. Thankfully, he was only about 20 feet tall, rather than a hundred.
KP gulped nervously, having only seen this form once before. He had only been able to make it a temporary transformation at the time, and Ron was the one that held him off while they escaped. He couldn't help this time around, and escape was no longer an option. She was the only one in any position to stand up to him. If she didn't get the gauntlet away from him now, it was all over for them, and for her world. Not resigning herself to this fate just yet, she charged him, ready to make one last stand.
Cupping all four of his hands together over his head, Freakshow swung them all down, smashing them into KP when she was close enough for him to strike. She hadn't been close enough to land an energized punch of her own, and so was smashed into the ground without having released the energy in her fists.
"Ugh," she groaned as Freakshow reached out and picked her up by her legs with one of his lower arms, and hung her upside down in front of his face.
"Well that was fast," Freakshow snickered as he held her up in front of his face, upside down. "Oh, did we eat our words sooner than expected?" he asked her in a mocking tone before her eyes reopened and glared at him with a bright orange light.
"Eat this!" she screamed as she brought both of her arms up and released the energy that she'd built up a moment before, directly into his face.
Startled and confused, he didn't have time to react before the energy exploded in his face. "ARGH!" he screamed in pain and rage. Both of his upper arms moved and his hands latched onto his face as the resulting orange smoke wafted through his fingers. KP still hung upside down from one of his lower arms, however.
"And this!" she screamed again, as she released another beam of orange energy directly into the gaping maw of his stomach.
The face on Freakshow's stomach roared in pain and agony when her energy blast exploded in the back of its mouth. With his top arms occupied with his face, Freakshow was forced to release his captive as he wrapped his bottom arms around his pained stomach.
Free of his grasp, KP flipped back upright and charged more energy into her hands. "You've had your fun, but enough is enough," she declared with a growl. "I won't let you change any more of my world!" she screamed as she brought her hands together and released another powerful beam of orange energy that struck Freakshow in his still unprotected chest. He was blown backwards by the blast and crashed into the ground some distance away, giving KP the opportunity to catch her breath. She'd been fighting all night and exhaustion was weighing heavy on her, making her quite dreary.
"Danny, he's changed into his chosen ghost form," Danielle squeaked, her throat catching as she was still weeping over Jazz's death. "We can use the Transistor's thermos to capture him and-" she began to elaborate with renewed hope before she glanced up at Danny and paused, turning pale as a ghost as her eyes widened upon seeing him. Danny was glowing more brightly than normal. His ghostly glow had thickened and was starting to flow upwards as his hands clenched tightly into fists.
"RAGH!" Freakshow yelled ferociously as he charged at KP before she could finish catching her breath and began throwing punch after punch at her with his four fists, all in quick succession, never giving her a chance to rest and collect her thoughts between punches. She managed to dodge a few, moving fast enough herself to deflect away his punches by pushing away his forearms; but fatigue soon caught up with her, and fist after fist made contact, quickly pummeling her into the ground.
"Danny!" Monique yelled to him, fearing for her friend and knowing that only he could help her.
Danny wasn't listening to her. He was still staring down at Jazz, whose head still lay in Danielle's lap. He could see Ron lying next to her with KM lying on the ground behind them, as well as KP's human form staring off blankly into oblivion. They had all been lost during this fight, and more would soon follow if the madman couldn't be stopped. "I can't let this continue," he growled as his hatred for the madman reached its boiling point and threatened to explode.
"Ugh," KP groaned as she too now lay prone on the ground, unable to move or retaliate as Freakshow reach out and grabbed her up in one of his hands; his fingers wrapped around her entire body.
Holding her up again, Freakshow snickered with delight. "That was a good effort on your part," he complimented her on her endurance and willpower. "But the sun is about to come up," he pointed out, nodding his head towards the horizon where the sky was growing brighter with the rising sun. "And I have a promise to keep," he reminded her. "Now, prepare yourself," he warned her as he raised his gauntleted hand and began to charge it with more red life-draining energy. "And this time, just like the others, you won't be getting up again," he threatened, his smirk widening before he began laughing maniacally.
The thought of losing another friend to the madman's terrifying ambitions was what lit the fuse and set Danny off. A sudden streak of light passed through his head before his eyes dilated as his teeth clenched together. His dilated eyes began to glow with a bright white light before he screamed to the heavens, releasing a powerful burst of white energy as his hair turned into white flames and rose above his head.
The sudden expulsion of energy drew Freakshow's and KP's attention towards the teen. He stood with his back facing them; his hands clenched at his sides, white flames rising from his head and a similarly flaming aura. His muscles even seemed to have expanded slightly. Danielle and Monique looked up at him with scared looks in their eyes, but it wasn't until he turned and faced Freakshow and KP that they understood why; his eyes were glowing with a bright white light.
"Danny," KP chocked, smirking after glancing at him out of the corner of her eye.
"Hmm, this trick again, huh?" Freakshow growled as he lowered his gauntleted hand slightly so it wasn't aimed directly in KP's face. "No matter," he said as he turned to face the ghost teen. "This little boost of yours may grant you strength and power, but we both know of its time constraints," he reminded the ghost teen. "Can you hope to defeat the Master of all Reality in so short a time?" he challenged him, spreading out his arms and his huge bat-like wings, presenting himself.
Danny only growled in response as he crouched and prepared to attack, charging white energy into his tightly clenched fists as he did so.
"Ah, ah, ah," Freakshow warned him with a smirk as he held up KP's body more for the ghost teen to see. "You wouldn't want to hurt your friend here, now would you?" he taunted the ghost teen. Unable to do anything about her predicament, KP was forced to watch with one eye open as she struggled to remain focused without blacking out.
Danny, however, was not deterred by Freakshow's caution. He only growled angrily as the white energy in his fists continued to build until it began pulsating. "RAGH!" he screamed as he pushed off from the ground and disappeared into a beam of white light, speeding towards the madman that held his friend captive in his massive hand.
"Oh," Freakshow said with some surprise, unable to express any amount of emotion in the amount of time that it took for Danny to slam into him with his energized fists. He was forced to release KP from his grasp, causing her to fall to the ground and lay motionless on her back, as Danny forced him backwards across the clearing as a speeding blur.
"GRRR!" Freakshow growled after being winded by the sudden blow that he hadn't expected to have been so effective. He glared down at the ghost teen, still pushing back against him, sending them speeding across the clearing and towards the open field of snapping plants behind them. With all four arms, he twisted himself and, with all the force he could muster, unlodged himself; sending the ghost teen spiraling into the air.
Danny quickly recovered, gaining control of the midair spirals, and flipped upright to look down on the madman with absolute hatred in his glowing white eyes.
Freakshow grunted as he thrust all four of his arms at the teen in succession, releasing four beams of yellow energy at the ghost teen. He'd hoped to catch the ghost teen off guard with one of the shots, and possibly do some sort of damage with the power of the gauntlet at his disposal. He was quite disheartened when Danny easily swatted all four energy beams away with little effort.
All four beams all flew off before coming back down in the field of snapping plants, changing the entire field back into a vast wheat field that stretched on towards the horizon where the morning light from the sun seemed only mere moments away from shining brightly upon them.
"RAGH!" Danny yelled as he thrust both hands forward and released a beam of white ecto-energy back towards Freakshow immediately after deflecting the four energy beams directed at him.
Freakshow watched the beam of white energy for a moment with curiosity before he began to smirk as a devilish plan came to mind. "You never learn. Ha-ha!" he laughed as he held up his gauntleted hand and formed another energy portal in the air between himself and Danny's attack. Within the ring of energy was a view of Monique and Danielle, along with their dead loved ones.
Both girls were startled by the sudden appearance of the second energy portal directly in front of them; but were both terrified by what that meant was going to happen to Danny's attack when it passed through the energy portal.
Danny's still brightly glowing eyes widened a bit when he realized what was going to happen too. Suddenly fizzling out of existence, he reappeared directly in front of the two terrified girls just as his energy passed through the energy portal. Clenching both hands together, interweaving his fingers together, he swung his arms and batted away his own energy, preventing it from harming those that still remained and couldn't protect themselves.
Not knowing that Danny had teleported and deflected his own attack away from the girls; Freakshow glanced in their direction with a sinister grin, expecting to see them perish in the resulting explosion. He was quite flabbergasted by the sight of the beam of white ecto-energy having not only been deflected, but redirected, straight back at him.
The energy exploded in a massive BANG! The ground shook and wind blew outwards, away from the explosion. Danielle and Monique shielded their eyes from the wind and the blinding light that resulted as they tried not to get themselves, or their loved ones bodies, from being blown away by the harsh winds. KP's ghost form was forced to roll onto her stomach by the strong winds, but she managed to get a grip on the ground to avoid being blown away as well as she squinted into the blinding explosion.
Somewhere in the middle of the clearing, another energy portal appeared as Freakshow rolled through and took cover on the ground; just barely escaping the explosion. He looked up when the strong winds and blinding light faded to reveal a large crater in the ground at the very edge of the clearing. All the dust and debris had been blown away by the powerful winds that resulted from the explosion, leaving nothing but a circular scar in the Earth.
"That was too close," he huffed, trying to catch his breath after narrowly escaping such a close call. He began glancing around to see if he could spot his teenage opponent. "Now then, where did he go?" he asked himself as he scanned the clearing. "Ugh!" he gasped before turning around sharply to find Danny behind him, hovering in the air so they were eye level, and he didn't look any less ferocious with those brightly glowing white eyes.
"Something is not normal here," Freakshow quivered fearful as he floated backwards a little, putting a bit more distance between himself and his teenage adversary. "You should not have been able to maintain this power boost for this long," he pointed out, remembering back to their world where he'd used this form to protect his sister against Skulker. "You could only maintain it for a short time; so what's different now?" he asked, mostly to himself. "Why aren't you completely exhausted like before?" he posed his question to the teen. "Why aren't you changing back?" he asked, growing nervous and fearful of the answer.
Danny didn't respond. He just glared back at the madman with his piercing glare.
"Answer me!" Freakshow demanded; shouting at the ghost power teen.
"I don't have to answer to the likes of you!" Danny finally responded, yelling in response to the madman's outburst, making him reflexively jump back a little. "You hold the entire world hostage; you torture me and my friends; you force us to relive our nightmares and you force us to fight one another. You killed my friends; you killed my sister, and you tried to trick me into killing the rest. I don't want to have to deal with you anymore! I'm done listening to you!" he shouted, reminding him of his misdeeds. "I'm putting an end to this game of yours. This ends now!" he shouted, unintentionally releasing a repulsion field from his entire body, forcing Freakshow to shield himself with his arms as the energy made contact and forced him back a bit. "Even if I have to break you in half!" Danny hissed in a much darker tone, even for himself before he charged his opponent with his fists blazing with white hot energy.
"AAAAHHH!" Freakshow yelled in fear, his stomach mimicking his fear with a terrified roar, as Danny began his assault.
It started with a powerful blow to the back of the mouth on Freakshow's stomach. It was enough to completely wind the madman, but that didn't stop the teen ghost hero. After a series of powerful blows to the chest, Danny landed an uppercut to the underside of Freakshow's chin, sending him floating backwards in recoil. Spinning around, Danny swung his leg around and landed a powerful kick to Freakshow's chest, sending him crashing into the ground.
When the dust settled, Freakshow leaned up and rubbed the side of his head before looking up to see Danny hovering in the air overhead.
"Grrrr," Danny was growling as he shook with rage. His fists clenched tighter at his sides as pulsating white energy sparked within them. "ARGH!" he screamed as his rage was unleashed once more in the form of a ball of white energy that exploded into a group of energy beams that descended on the now terrified madman.
With the mighty beat of his bat-like wings, Freakshow barely managed to avoid the onslaught of energy beams that fell around him, exploding all around the clearing. KP's ghost form struggled to maintain her grip on the ground as one energy beam exploded nearby. Danielle and Monique dove to the ground to avoid the flying debris from the nearby explosion. Even Cujo was cowering nearby as debris flew by overhead, trying to shield a cowering Rufus with his own ghostly body.
"Is he always this reckless!?" Monique yelled to Danielle over the nearby explosion.
"No!" Danielle answered back. "He's normally more careful than this! It's not like him at all!"
'If things keep going as they are, at this rate, my plans will be ruined,' Freakshow thought to himself as he continued dodging white energy blasts as they fell around him. 'I need to turn things back around, in my favor,' he thought as he dodged one final energy blast before the barrage finally stopped. 'If his powers won't diminish on their own; then I guess I'll just have help things along,' he thought as he glanced at the Reality Gauntlet, smirking as he came up with a plan.
"Huh?" he gasped when he looked up again and found Danny flying out of a cloud of dust and hover overhead, glaring down at him. The ghost teen inhaled sharply before he thrust his head forward, releasing a beam of white energy from his eyes, aimed directly for the madman below him. "ARGH!" he yelled as he was struck by the energy and engulfed in the ensuing explosion of bright light.
When the dust had settled, Freakshow groaned as he pushed himself up with a pair of arms propping him up on the ground from behind. He opened his eyes and glared up as Danny descended and landed on the ground in front of him with one hand extended towards him.
"Game over," Danny growled with an angry scowl as his extended hand began glowing with white energy.
Anyone else would've been scared into submission, and probably given up by this point; but Freakshow only began to chuckle to himself, gradually getting louder until he'd broken out into full hysterics. Danny cocked one of his eyebrows, anticipating an explanation for why the madman wasn't taking his threat seriously, despite his new power proving that he was capable of following it through.
"Do you really believe that just because I'm on the ropes, means that this is over?" he asked the ghost teen between fits of laughter. "Your powers are indeed impressive, more so than I truly care to admit; but, they are still Ghost Powers nonetheless," he reminded the ghost teen as he raised his gauntleted arm and aimed his hand at the ghost teen as it began glowing with its own blue energy. "And if you recall, I now have the ability to take them away, no matter how formidable they may be," he said with a wicked grin.
The blue energy reflected in Danny's glowing white eyes as they widened with surprise. His arm dropped to his side as Freakshow's energy struck him in his chest and blasted him backwards across the ground. His feet carved out twin trails in the dirt before he came to a stop on the far side of the clearing. His flowing aura had turned blue as the energy from the Reality Gauntlet mixed with his own, tinting his flaming white hair a shade of light blue.
Freakshow chuckled and sneered as his reality bending powers flowed around the ghost teen, working to remove his powers once more; but his wicked sneer soon began to falter when nothing seemed to be happening. The blue reality altering energy was still flowing upward around the ghost teen, but Danny seemed far less tense than he was when he was first struck by the energy. He stood upright and glared back at Freakshow as his own white energy began to flow once more, completely dispersing the blue energy.
"What?" Freakshow asked, completely flabbergasted. "No! Impossible!" he shouted in disbelief. "Your powers should have been completely diminished by that!" he shouted, not believing what he was seeing.
'No way could he have blocked it,' Freakshow thought to himself as he clenched his teeth in frustration and glared at the ghost teen with an ever burning rage. 'But, if he didn't block it, then the only other possibility is that his powers have somehow canceled out the reality altering properties of the attack!' he speculated to himself.
"No! I refuse to believe that!" he shouted at himself in protest. "Your powers are nothing compared to the Reality Gauntlet!" he shouted at the ghost teen in a fury, who only continued to glare back at him with his cold piercing, glowing white gaze. "And I will prove it!" he yelled as he aimed his gauntleted hand at the ghost teen again and fired a beam of red life draining energy at him.
Rather than try to dodge, or even block it, Danny never moved and let the attack hit him, engulfing him in an explosion of red light and smoke. This seemed to delight Freakshow, as he was once more snickering happily; that is until the light and smoke began to recede, swirling in on itself as a faint white glow began to emerge from within. Freakshow's delight was quickly replaced by disappointment as the smoke cleared, revealing Danny as a ball of red life draining energy swirled around him, giving his flaming hair and aura a red tint before it too faded back to white, leaving Danny still alive, and completely unharmed.
"Whoa," Danielle and Monique gasped in whispered awe. Even Cujo's and Rufus' mouths hung open in awe at seeing Danny unharmed by the slew of attacks that had been thrown at him.
"It can't be. That's just not possible," Freakshow stuttered with nervousness. "First the girl, and now him?" he asked himself, sounding no less nervous and actually starting to shake a little. "Why is it so difficult to put them down for good?" he asked himself, becoming desperate for a solution to his dilemma.
It was quickly becoming obvious to him that he wasn't going to fight his way out of this. Perhaps he might be able to talk his way out? He was highly considering this alternative when Danny started to advance towards him, slowly walking across the clearing. It was now or never.
"Ok, now listen here Phantom…err, Danny," he corrected himself, sounding quite nervous about his predicament. "I'm sorry about your friends," he apologized as sincerely as he could muster with a legitimate smile on his face. "And your sister," he added, figuring it couldn't hurt to appeal to what was obviously hurting him the most at the moment.
The mentioning of his sister made Danny stop his advancement across the clearing. His eyes widened in surprise as he listened intently on what Freakshow was trying to convey to him.
"Your powers are more formidable than my own," he continued admitting as he raised his hands up and showed Danny his palms. "And they have made me see the error of my ways," he confided. "Now, I'm sure you and I can simply talk this through like men and come to some sort of understanding," he proposed with a smile, clearly a desperate smile at that. "Surely you agree that we could come to some sort of compromise?" he suggested as an alternative to them fighting a clearly one sided fight by this point.
"Compromise?" Danny repeated with a growl. "You claim to be sorry and you want to work out a compromise?" he asked, his anger towards the madman rising. "How stupid do you think I am!?" he shouted at him, wiping the nervous smile off his face and replacing it with nervous fear. Clearly his last desperate plea had failed. "After all that you've done to us, why would I ever want to come to any sort of agreement with the likes of you!?"
A sudden burst of energy was emitted from his entire body in that moment and expanded outwards before fading, leaving his aura flowing much more intensely than before. Ecto-electricity was even beginning to spark around him as he powered up. His eyes continued to glow with a bright white light, but they were now completely framed by thick, dark, intimidating looking rims; causing Danielle some worry.
"No, Freakshow," he hissed, his voice sounding quite sinister in its own right, striking fear into Freakshow as well as the three girls that had heard as well. Danielle in particular seemed quite frightened by how her brother looked and sounded at the moment. It was alright for him to be mad, or even furious, but this was downright scary, even for him. "It's over for you," he continued to hiss with an inhuman voice as his hands began sparking with white ecto-electricity as he charged them with energy. "For your crimes against the others, you will share in their fate," he hissed his contempt. "Now, PERISH!" he screamed as he thrust both fists forward, releasing a tremendous blast of white hot energy.
There was no way Freakshow could withstand such an intense attack, and he knew it. If he couldn't defend against it, then he'd have to consider an alternative. Trembling with fear for his life, Freakshow threw all four arms up in front of himself as his hands began glowing with blue energy; conjuring up an energy portal ring that would divert the attack elsewhere. This time however, it proved ineffective. The portal wasn't wide enough and was completely engulfed by the more powerful energy blast. It appeared to shatter like glass as the white hot energy passed it by on its way towards the intended target.
"ARGH!" Freakshow screamed as he was engulfed within the blast of energy that was now flowing around him. He tried simply withstanding the attack, but the massive wave of energy was too much for him to endure.
"NOW, BURN!" Danny screamed as the intensity of his energy blast increased, causing Freakshow to scream more intensely as the white hot energy began tearing away at his cape and wings, essentially shredding them apart.
Seeing what her brother was doing, and what was happening to Freakshow, was almost too much for Danielle to handle. She wanted to call out to Danny, begging him to stop; but the sight of their loved ones dead on the ground stayed her tongue. She looked away as a tear began to roll down her cheek. It had to be done, in the end. If they ever wanted to get home, and save their friends, they would need to defeat him and get the Reality Gauntlet back. That's when a sudden thought suddenly occurred to her.
She quickly turned her attention to Freakshow as it appeared that cracks were forming across his body; but it was the cracks that had started forming on the Reality Gauntlet as well that she was more worried about. Danny's attack was destroying it as well! And if that happened, then everything that'd happened that night would've been for nothing. This caused her to try and talk some sense into her enraged brother before it was too late.
"Danny!" she called out to him, screaming so her voice could be carried over the intensity of his attack. "You have to stop this!" she shouted, pleading with him. Danny didn't seem to pay her any attention as his intense scowl only deepened. "You're gunna destroy the Reality Gauntlet if you keep going at this rate!" she shouted, saying whatever she could to make him come to his senses. "We can bring back the others, we can even go home, but not if you destroy it! Please stop it!" she shouted, her tears flying out of her eyes and off her cheeks as she called out to him.
"Huh?" Danny gasped slightly as he tilted his head to look in her direction. His eyes widened slightly when he saw the desperation in her own, as well as the tears running down her cheeks. She must have gotten through to him after all as he had begun to hang his head in thought as he pondered her words, contemplating how he should proceed.
Freakshow on the other hand, had other plans. He too had heard Danielle's plea, and suddenly realized that he still had one more trick up his sleeve. He couldn't beat Danny in his current condition. He knew that, and accepted that; but he could make sure that they still lost, even if they won the battle. Stretching out his gauntleted arm, he aimed his two opposite hands at the gauntlet and began to charge them with red energy.
"You will never get this gauntlet," he warned, regaining Danny's attention. He turned his gaze back upon the madman and sent him another angry scowl. "You may have me beaten, but I'll destroy it myself before I let you use it to restore everything," he threatened as he prepared to fire upon his own gauntleted arm.
"Grr!" Danny growled through tightly clenched teeth as he grabbed his wrist with one hand so as to maintain his attack, and twisted his remaining hand sideways before swiping his whole arm through the air. This resulted in a sudden shift in the flow of energy he was emitting from his hand. The energy that was flowing passed Freakshow shifted enough to slide the gauntlet right off his arm before he could release his own attack upon the reality altering device.
The gauntlet was sent hurdling through the air before it fell and rolled to the ground a short distance from where Danielle stood near their friends. She looked down on the gauntlet as her tears suddenly dried, knowing that Freakshow couldn't use its powers against them anymore now that it was away from his grasp.
Freakshow was left shocked and bewildered by the sudden loss of the reality altering device. Without the power of the gauntlet empowering him anymore, his ghostly body slowly shifted back into his human form as the red energy that he had yet to release began to spread out across his entire body, showing through the cracks that had formed across his skin and torso. He looked down at his two hands, one now missing the gauntlet, and began to tremble with fear as the red glow from his unreleased energy shown through the cracks in his body.
Danny's anger and intense rage even dwindled significantly upon seeing the gauntlet land on the ground at Danielle's feet; now no longer in Freakshow's possession. As angry as he was with the madman; now that he was no longer an apparent threat to them, he let his anger and frustration melt away as he let off his attack. As the energy stopped flowing from his hand, his aura began to settle as well. His flaming white hair continued to lick at the air above his head, but didn't burn with an intense rage like it had before. And his glowing white eyes faded until his irises began to show as well, though they were now silver in color, rather than bright neon green. When he was finally calm, the energy stopped flowing, and he lowered his arms to his sides; but the damage had already been done, and by now was irreversible, even for the Reality Gauntlet.
Freakshow was still glowing with the red energy showing through the cracks in his body. The red glow slowly began to fade, leaving the cracks in his body to continue to spread, causing him intense pain and agony. He grunted and groaned as little gusts of wind began to break away at his skin and clothes, as if they were made from a fine ash. Lifting his hands up, he watched with horror as a slightly stronger gust of wind came along and blew away his hands, breaking them up into dust and ash.
"AAARRRGGGHHH!" he screamed in agony as more and more of his body was broken apart and blown away with the wind. His screams of agony slowly faded away as the rest of his body gradually turned to ash and wafted away; high into the air where the warmth of the full sun could now be seen above the edge of the horizon, lighting up the clearing and the mountainside with the light of a brand new day.
Hooray! Freakshow has finally been defeated, by the timely use of a Deus ex Machina no less.
Back when I first came up with the idea of the Phantom Fury several years ago, I didn't really know how to develop it. But over time, I have developed several uses, and drawbacks to the technique. It is mainly a self-defense mechanism that can empower the user for a short period of time. When the user is in a calm, collected state, the powers can be easily controlled. But should the user be under the influence of extreme anger or rage when the technique is induced, like it was here, the user can enter into a sort of "berserk mode" going almost completely out of control, only regaining control of themselves after they've calmed down. Yes, it was inspired a bit by a certain "power up" if there are any Avatar fans reading this. This technique will find more use in the next story rewrite and will be explored more in depth in future stories.
KP's ghost form also managed to survive being hit directly by an attack that should have killed her instantly, like it did to the other Kim, Ron and Jazz. How she managed to survive will be addressed in the next chapter. So please be patient with me if this crossed your mind at any point. This was a huge divergence from the original version of this story, where KP's ghost form was destroyed and her human form retained her full personality. I have a plan to rectify her split problem in the next chapter as well.
I certainly hope you readers will continue to stick with me through to the end of the story. Whilst the fight with Freakshow is finally over, the next part of their adventure is about to get underway. As soon as the next two chapters are completed, and this story is brought to a close, I intend to start the rewrite for A Trip through Time. I don't know how long that rewrite will take, hopefully not as long as this one did; but it will have numerous differences that will set it apart from the original, much like this one did.
So please, stay tuned.
