Chapter 35
Recovery, and Sledgehammers
Megan
The mood in the room had considerably dropped to pure depression. Everyone was on a couch, or on the floor, the same arrangements as the showing of Naruto Shippuden. Yet then we were excited, curious, and perfectly fine. Now, well. We had just been visited by a Zetsu fangirl; she had cursed us out (Including Hailey and Hidan), threatened us, and revealed she had an animal guide like Thaddeus, who also was on the evil side. Now all of us, had an enemy named Jessie, and me, being me, I wanted to lift this uncomfortable depression.
"What now?" I asked. This was in no way helpful, at all. My answers were some groans, grunts, and Hidan started to curse at me but became lazy and stopped in the middle of his precious F word.
"When did all the Shinobi get so lazy?" I asked
"Because of us, we need Pein to whip them into shape." Hailey threw out, still sprawled about the floor.
"Why don't we do something?" I proposed.
"We need some fresh food and provisions, I think we'll be here a while. Let's go to Wal-Mart or something." Rei declared. Hailey and I nodded at this, Wal-Mart was fun.
"So we go, and we leave everyone else back to get whipped back into shape!" Hailey said. I shook my head.
"I think we should bring some of you guys along with us." I said. They all seemed to tense at this, and Pein got up, Konan followed.
"Fine, but Konan will have to accompany you to this 'Wal-Mart' to make sure you don't bolt." Pein said. I shrugged, this seemed fair.
"We all get to choose one Akatsuki to bring." Rei declared.
"I PICK-" I started, before Hailey covered my mouth with her hand.
"We all know who you're going to pick, get up Sasori." Rei sighed. The redhead grudgingly obliged.
"I guess I'll pick Itachi to come along, since he's responsible and all." Rei said. Hailey and I giggled, and started whispering ItaRei into the air, that is, until Rei smacked both of us upside the head. Hard.
"I PIIIIIIIICK," Hailey nearly screamed, "Kisame."
"I thought you were with Hidan?" I asked. Hailey smacked me. What was this? Smack Megan day?
"Kisame's fun to be around, Hidan would wreck the entire place, Kakuzu would bitch at us about the prices DESPITE it being Wal-Mart, Deidara would make everything explode, and I don't think the world is ready to have Tobi unleashed upon it. Okay?" She explained.
"Fine, who's driving? And do we have a car?" I asked. Rei got off the couch
"I propose that Hailey drives, and the car should be locked up securely in the garage, the keys somewhere hidden." She said.
"LET'S GO!" Hailey screamed. Rei sighed and turned to Pein
"Make sure no one destroys the place. If so, you'll have to deal with being homeless and crippled from mass amount of punches and running over of a car in a foreign dimension. Got that?" Rei threatened. Pein raised an eyebrow, as if he were thinking of whether to kill her on the spot or make her suffer slowly all for the sake of taking his threat role.
"Peace." Rei said simply, as her, me, Hailey, Sasori, Itachi, Kisame, and Konan left towards to garage door. Rei grabbed the keys which were behind a plant and led us all inside of the garage, where we all stopped suddenly.
"Well now…" Hailey muttered, as we saw the black Hummer sitting in the garage, seemingly starting to gather dust.
"My parents had a thing for strong cars." Rei threw in. We nodded and started to pile in. We took a while because we had to get the Akatsuki to get INTO the car, something they'd never seen before, and obviously didn't trust.
When they were all finally inside, Rei opened the garage door from inside the car and Hailey sat at the drivers' seat, looking a tad bit pale.
"What's wrong?" Rei asked, getting into a middle seat, Konan was in the passenger seat (Looking the most responsible for if we got pulled over).
"I'm nervous." Hailey whimpered.
"YOU'RE Nervous? Don't you have your permit?" I asked. I was forcing Sasori to sit with me in the back seats, everyone else (Itachi and Kisame) were with Rei in the middle.
"I do, but I'm still afraid I may kill someone, get pulled over, I'll panic, kill the COP! THEN GET SENT TO PRISION AND PUT ON TRIAL AND GET THE DEATH SENTENCE! I CAN'T DO THIS!" Hailey panicked. Rei did the best thing; she leaned over, and smacked Hailey across the face. When she recovered herself she sighed and backed out of the driveway.
"You're WELCOME." Rei hissed. The response we saw was Hailey rolling her eyes in the rearview mirror. Rei may have slapped her again, not for helpful purposes, but I held her back by almost falling into the middle seat.
From there we started driving, Rei giving directions and screams of panic when Hailey screwed up.
"What is this?" Sasori asked. I turned to him, smiling at bit at the split second explanation I'd thought of.
"Think of this as a giant puppet like Hiruko that people control not by chakra strings, but the pedals at their feet and other various things. These are big enough to fit many people, and EVERYONE has them. They don't make it themselves, but buy them from people who DO make them. Such companies as: Toyota, and Porsche." I explained. Some understanding seemed to come into his eyes.
"He will be the easiest to explain it all to." I decided, he was going to say something when suddenly;
"TURN RIGHT NOW!" Rei screamed. The entire car swerved and we all got knocked about a bit (Thank you seatbelt) and I breathed a sigh of relief to see the large building of Wal-Mart appear before us. Hailey turned in and somehow parked without scratching any other cars (AKA in the far off part no one even parks at).
"Well, you passed, not KILLING us!" I growled. Hailey glared at me.
"Met the bunch of you five days ago and I have to DRIVE you all around?" She complained
"Well, you're stuck with us." Rei shrugged. We all got out of the car (I don't think the four tag alongs like them anymore) and started walking. I was shivering. It was around early November and I was in my denim short shorts and black t-shirt… I never really THINK to wear winter style clothes before I had been transported to the Naruto world.
"So we're getting some food, and CLOTHES right?" I asked as we went through the opening doors and were greeted somehow reluctantly by the greeter.
"Yep." Rei said simply
"I love Wal-Mart, things are cheap and you can wear ANYTHING you want, and no one will judge you!" Hailey exclaimed
"Still, I think the boundaries may be broken with Kisame." I guessed. At this we all looked back to him, he smiled a completely stupid grin, and we looked away. I felt so violated.
"Who's pushing the cart?" Rei asked. We all stopped, and realized we had walked right past them. Everyone looked back to me. I muttered something and went to fetch one. Sasori came with me, maybe slightly interested in asking me what things were. This was affirmed when we passed the Subway built into Wal-Mart and he asked what they sold there.
"Subs, I love that place to death." I answered, and I suppressed the urge to run in and eat someone else's sub when I smelled the ever-present fragrance of the place.
"Subs?" He asked once more.
"Toppings like meat and pickles and onions put between two pieces of bread. It doesn't sound like much but it tastes awesome!" I exclaimed.
"I'd like to g there to try it out one day." He said. I shrugged
"Maybe we can go after we finish shopping." I guessed, and we caught up with the others.
"Dawwww, how cute! SasoMeg!" Hailey squealed. I rolled my eyes slightly (Though I liked the sound of it) and pushed the cart on.
"Hey Rei, could we possibly go to Subway after this?" I asked.
"Nah, but probably some other day we could." Rei shrugged
"I'll hold you to that." I decided. Rei glared at me. We walked on throughout the store. We passed some building equipment and I immediately froze.
"What's wrong?" Hailey asked, peering into the isle.
"The Sledgehammer." I said bluntly, staring directly at the rather deadly weapon.
"So? What's so great about that?" Rei asked, raising an eyebrow
"Deadly." I said. I immediately ran into the isle and grabbed the precious piece of weaponry. I weighed it in my palm wearily. I t was a smaller one, so it wasn't as heavy, but could most likely pack a hard blow.
"Going to abandon your pan?" Hailey asked. I had left the pan at home. It was too troublesome to have people stare at you for having a pan strapped to your side all the time (I'm Shikamaru!)
"Yep, this baby could potentially smash open Tobi's MASK!" I exclaimed excitedly
"Well then, PUT IT IN THE CART DAMN YOU!" Hailey cheered. Rei sighed
"You're all lucky my parents VISA card isn't cancelled." She muttered. We had gotten to the ATM and had gotten some cash out of the card (Rei's parents had told her the password for emergencies… Why?)
I dropped the weapon into the cart (Much to the confusion of the Akatsuki with us), and we headed to the food section. We piled the cart with candy, cereal, frozen meals, ramen, soda, apple juice, fruit punch, milk, and some healthy foods such as banana, kiwi, strawberries, and apples. When we went to the checkout, we got some odd looks. Three teenage girls dressed for summer, with a guy with red hair, a blue haired woman, a rather normal looking guy, and a shark man. Our cart was piled with food. The checkout went by quietly. No one talked, and it was incredibly awkward.
When it was all over we walked with the bagged food in our cart back to the car. We unloaded it, and I was forced to put the cart into one of those cart holder things located in the parking lot. When I came back we left. The ride was the same as last time, Rei was screaming at Hailey, Sasori was asking what things were, and I was only so happy to oblige. We arrived back home, and Hailey drove us up the driveway. We all piled out and went inside. Rei was only too delighted to find the house still in one piece. The only bad thing was that the 3rd guest bathroom was soaked in blood (Hidan and his damned rituals).
"You're back." Pein said. I rolled my eyes. Well lookie here! We are!
"It's getting late, should we make them dinner or something?" Rei asked, peeking through the blinds.
"Like what?" Hailey mused.
"Maybe some ramen! They ate that back home right?" I proposed, "I think we could teach them how to use forks right?"
"I guess so." Rei shrugged. We went into the kitchen and looked through the bags (We are too lazy to unpack anything but the frozens) and grabbed out bags of instant ramen.
"Where are your pots?" I asked, rummaging through the cupboards. Rei pointed out somewhere. I looked there and found pots and pans (Pan, I'm so sorry for dumping you for Sledgehammer).
We made ramen in a big pot, and had to rush around to get bowls for everyone (People such as Hidan and Tobi had to eat theirs from mugs), and teach everyone how to use forks.
After this somehow chaotic dinner we screamed at everyone that it was "LIGHTS OUT!" and retired to our rooms. Rei told me that she used to share her room with her little sister, so she and Hailey would be sleeping in HER room, while I was to sleep in her brother's room.
"It's not as bad as other brother's rooms I swear! He was a bit of a clean freak as it is actually." Rei assured. I sighed and grabbed blankets and all for my nights stay.
When I entered the room I may say, Rei was right. The room was a bit spotless, only the slight array of dust disturbed it all. The only sign someone had lived here was the laptop sitting on a desk, plugged into the wall socket to charge. I pervily wondered what her brother had looked at on there. I set the bed up, discarding the old sheets he used to use.
I put on the PJs borrowed from Rei and shut off the lights, crawled into bed and closed my eyes. Sleep came immediately.
I was standing on a cliff; the fall was a long way down. For some odd reason I wasn't scared at all despite being at the tip.
"Going down?" A soft voiced asked, I twirled around quickly, not losing my balance. There was a girl, she look about 11 years old. Her hair was orange, like Rei's, and it fell to her mid-back in rather beautiful curls. I wanted to ask who she was, but I couldn't seem to speak.
"I wouldn't advise jumping, you'll never return. Only strong people with the will of steal can get back up. Like me. But I had to try for so long, a whole six months was spent trying to climb up that gorge. I only made it recently." The girl said. He eyes looked sharp, not very childish for a girl her age. I tried to speak again. Nothing.
"What? Cat got your tongue? What a shame, someone real finally visits me and they can't even talk. You don't know what a huge disappointment that is. Very well then, maybe if you JOIN me, you could talk." The girl decided, her mouth turning into a smirk. She took a step towards me, I tried to back away, but my feet met no ground and I fell backwards. Only then did fear come to me. I could finally speak, but it was only a long drawn out scream of terror as I plummeted to my most likely death. Down in the depths below.
I jolted out of my bed in a cold sweat. I sat there for at least a minute, looking straight forward.
"A dream?" I asked myself.
"I wish it wasn't, but alas it was." A familiar voice sighed. I looked to my side. The same girl stood next to my bed. Yet this time she was smiling warmly, her skin was a ghostly pale, and it glowed slightly from the moonlight coming in from the window.
"W-who are you?" I asked. She giggled playfully.
"My names Jamie, Rei's little sister!" She answered
"What are you doing here? You never showed yourself before! Rei will be so happy to see you're alive!" I said excitedly. The girls face looked crestfallen.
"But that's the problem. I'm just a ghost." She sighed again. My eyes widened. Then I screamed.
Note: SORRY SORRY SORRY! I didn't update for about 4 weeks now right? I'm sooooo sorry, at first I thought of it as a break from the constant updating of before, then I got lazy…
But here the chapter is! Megan gets a sledgehammer, the reason for that is because in my online role-plays with friends lately I've found myself smacking Deidara and Tobis faces in with a sledgehammer :/
Megan meets a ghost, that is EXCITING! It's Rei's little sister, and the name SasoMeg is FINALLY in its debut XD

I got a laptop! And it's taking a while to get used to typing on it so if there are a few missed typos please excuse them XD
