Burn it Down

A quick scan of the room revealed it was empty, at least of all living things. The couple they had met earlier must have turned tail and ran. Smart on their part.

"Sam, I'll finish this floor, you wanna head upstairs and check there?"

Sam gave a quick nod of his head and traced his hand over his face before griping his firearm and slowly climbing the stairs, his large stride taking them three at a time.

Dean continued the sweep of the first floor, going from one room to the next. By room number three he was beginning to think this was a bust until he heard a small sound and felt something brush past him. Circling around he saw not one, not two, but three apparitions flickering in and out of focus.

"Dean, I'm not finding anything…," Sam began as he walked into the room but his voice trailed off when he saw the trio of specters.

"Well, they got something here, Sam, so, maybe a little more of that old college try?"

With that Dean fired several salt rounds at the ghosts, giving him a chance to cross closer to his brother.

"Think the rumors are true?" he questioned.

Sam shrugged noncommittally.

"That they are in the walls? Maybe."

"I say we torch this B&B and call it good enough."

"Dean, this is someone's home!"

"We'll get them out first, Sammy."

Sam just rolled his eyes. Although it wouldn't be easy, finding the bodies or their particular items that they were attached to would be the better option. He huffed his aggravation at his 'shoot first, ask questions later' brother.

Dean seemed to take the hint, however, and held his hands up in mock surrender.

"Fine, fine. We'll try it your way first. But I'm still open to just burning it down and starting over again." He pulled out his lighter and clicked the flame on to emphasize his point.

Several days later after climbing through ventilation shafts, false walls, and storage lofts, the Winchesters finally found the bodies and disposed of the remains.

"My way would've been faster," Dean smirked as flames faded to glowing embers.
