Tyler and Flygon took a short walk with the 3 children to see a pokemon that was said to be in a cave down by the beach. As focused as he was on the tournament, Tyler was curious about what was down there. He also figured that if this pokemon really was big that the kids may need another trainer for protection should this pokemon be angry or territorial. Besides, who was he to decline a trip to the beach.

"So? Where is it Owen?"

"I found it just up here." Owen replied to them.

As they were told there was a small cave by the water. They were all intrigued and moved to the mouth of the cave. They rounded the corner of the entrance and peered inside. There wasn't much there. The cave was very small, it was a dead end only 30 ft. deep and 10 ft. wide, and about 12ft. tall to the celling. It was actually just a small cavern. Peering up Tyler discovered that there weren't any Zubat in this cave. What are the odds?

However they weren't alone in the cave. Inside at the back of the cave was a pokemon laying down with its back to the wall. It had a large orange body with a sand coloured belly. It also had some small wings and what looked like 2 spaghetti strings coming out the top of its head.

"Whoa. That's a Dragonite." Said Tyler in awe. Hearing the trainer's voice the dragon opened its eyes. The pokemon looked over the 4 humans currently standing in its resting place. Dragonite began to get defensive and pushed itself up with its arms and gave a warning growl at Tyler and the kids.

"It's okay Dragonite. We won't hurt you." Said Owen.

"Yeah. We want to be friends." Added Lacy.

Both of the kids walked towards Dragonite with outstretched arms presumably to pet Dragonite as they did to Flygon. But all Dragonite saw in its state was a potential threat. Panicking Dragonite stood up and blew a powerful wind with its wings and easily blew everyone off their feet and out of the small cave.

"Look out!" Tyler warned.

The 3 kids were thrown in the air out of the mouth of the cave but were caught by Flygon. The mystic pokemon acted quickly and caught the kids and used its back and its wings to protect the children. Tyler was just blown out of the cave with the sand of the beach cushioning his fall.

"That was a hurricane attack." He looked back at Flygon who opened his wings to reveal that the kids were ok. He looked back into the cave to see Dragonite hunched over panting and heard it whimpering a little.

Tyler instantly knew something was wrong. Being a specialist in dragon type pokemon he knew that dragons were a proud and strong species. There was no way Dragonite should be panting after just 1 attack, nor would it attack people without reason. After signaling for Flygon to stay where it was with the kids, he approached the cave again. Just like before Dragonite growled at the intruder. Tyler than knelt down to try to make himself smaller and not portray himself as a threat. Dragonite was confused by the action of the boy and tilted its head as it continued to survey the boy.

"Dragonite, is something wrong? Are you okay?" He asked. Tyler spoke softly and slowly to calm the dragon. Dragonite just continued to look at him.

"If there's something wrong then maybe I can help you." Dragonite could see his kindness and the sincerity of his words. It slowly leaned back down onto its belly again to reveal one of its wings was slightly mangled and littered with bruises. Tyler saw this and realised that that was why Dragonite was so on edge and attacked them, it was just protecting itself. It was also why it always had its back to the wall.

"So your wing is hurt?" He asked it.

After a nod of confirmation Tyler slowly got up and walked over to the battered wing, Dragonite eyeing him the whole time. Up close he could see the bad shape the dragon was in and determined that if Dragonite couldn't fly then it could've been here for a few days already. He was slightly surprised that Dragonite trusted him to get that close to it. He felt a lot of pride for how far he'd had come as a dragon tamer. He gave a reassuring smile to Dragonite, which seemed to calm it down before he did what he could to try and wrap up its injured wing. Dragonite made a few whines of discomfort as he treated the wing. Tyler tried to talk to it to get its mind off the pain.

"Even with an injured wing you were still able to use hurricane. A good one too. You must be really strong." Said Tyler complimenting the large dragon.

"I know you can't fly, can you walk?" He asked once he was done what he could with the wing. His response was the dragon standing up walking over to the middle of the cave. Tyler walked up to him and pointed out the mouth of the cave. "There is a pokemon centre not too far from here, I can take you there to get your wing fixed. Afterwards you'll be flying good as new."

Dragonite gave a nervous nod not sure whether or not to trust this person. He decided he had nothing to lose and walked with him out of the safety of the cave. Once outside they were greeted by Flygon and the kids.

"Hey what's the big idea attacking us?" Asked Owen.

"Tyler put on a look of seriousness. "Dragonite is badly hurt. We have to get it to the pokemon centre." He told them.

"Oh." They all said. "Is there anything we can do to help?" Asked Charles.

"No, that's fine I can take Dragonite there. You should all go home." Tyler told them.

"Ok. Bye Dragonite. Hope you get better." Said Charles.

"Yeah. Hope to see you again." Lacy said happily.

Dragonite still didn't trust them but gave them a nod anyway. After the kids left Tyler along with the 2 dragons made the walk back to the pokemon centre. Along the way Flygon was constantly talking to Dragonite trying to keep it calm. Even though Dragonite could walk Tyler noticed that its movements were weak - well weak for a Dragonite. It must be in pretty bad shape. Once the 3 of them reached the pokemon centre Tyler called for nurse Joy. She rushed out surprised that a pokemon needed medical attention so early in the day.

"Nurse Joy, this Dragonite needs help. Its wing is badly hurt." He explained. Just then Brock shot around the corner after nurse Joy and knelt down in front of her.

"Nurse Joy, I can only stand here and marvel at your beauty, too devoted to you to think about anything else-." Brock was then stabbed by Toxicroak's Knuckle claw.

"Except this, raging pain in my, backside… ugh." He said as he passed out.

"Same old Brock." Ash said as he followed Brock around the corner.

"Brock now is now the time." Tyler said to him in all seriousness.

"I'll do everything I can to help." She assured Tyler turning her attention back to him. 2 Chansey walked by with a plus sized stretcher. Dragonite was laid down on its front as to not bother the wing. The dragon was rolled out to the medical ward as Tyler, Ash and Brock were left with worry.

"What happened to that Dragonite?" Asked Ash.

"I don't know. Some kids found it in a cave by the beach. When I got there it was really defensive and had an injured wing."

"Well I'm sure nurse Joy will make Dragonite better in no time."

"I hope so." Said Tyler as he looked over at the doors Dragonite had been taken through.

"Come on. We'd better head off to the stadium." He said as he and Tyler left and dragged Brock with them. Literally.

Ladies and gentlemen. As of now 16 gifted trainers have advanced to round 4! And there are still 32 trainers who look to join them. Not everyone can make it so you better be at your best. Now half of the remaining 32 trainers of round 3 are about to be matched up, now!

*It's time.* Tyler thought.
