T'was the mission before Christmas part 2
Cap leapt forward shield in hand, Logan couldn't believe it 70 years in a cryo tube and the man hadn't lost a step. Cap flung his shield hitting Hulk in the face followed by several hard shots to the chin and stomach. Hulk stumbled a few steps but quickly regained his balance and roared loudly as he swung at the man in front of him. Rodgers dodged every single shot frustrating the green monster to end.
"STUPID MAN HOLD STILL…HULK SMASH STUPID MAN"
"You have to catch me first big guy." Cap taunted and threw his shield once more into the stomach of the hulk. Logan got to his feet and threw himself once more into the fight with a feral roar, he slashed and hacked at the flesh of the Hulk doing all he could but it was futile gesture every wound he inflicted would heal instantly.
"This is going to be a long day." Logan said before a crimson blast of energy flew past his head sending the hulk flying. Logan looked and saw Cyclops and the others arrive with Kurt carrying the professor.
"Kurt, get the professor and Kitty back to the jet then get the jet ready." Scott ordered. Kurt nodded and teleported to Kitty he held on to her and teleported the two to safety.
"Stay back Shades you don't know what you're dealing with." Logan said to Scott as the hulk came lunging back into the fight with fists flying. Logan was caught off guard and was clocked upside the head and was once again sent flying. Scott began firing his optic blast with his brother Alex (Sorry I forgot about him again.) The Hulk roared angrily at the attack he reached down and picked up two large rocks and threw them at the two brothers. Scott ducked and rolled under the rock thrown at him but Alex wasn't as fast, the rock missed his head and connected with his shoulder breaking it.
"AWWWWW… Scott my arms broken I can't fight anymore." Alex yelled into his communicator
"Alex, stay low and get out of here if you can!" Scott ordered and Alex nodded and made his way out of the engagement zone.
Cap was throwing everything he had at the Hulk but all it appeared to do was make him angrier and angrier; Hulk had had enough of this constant annoyance and simply backhanded the super-soldier sending him flying into a nearby building.
"HULK MAD!" He said as he saw Rogue still on the ground trying to get her breath back, she felt strong but something was wrong. In her mind she felt a complete loss of control like every person she had ever absorbed was trying desperately to gain control over her mind. She looked up as she saw the massive wall of green rage come towards her, try as she might she couldn't find her feet and stand. The Hulk readied himself to destroy the crippled form in front of him when he suddenly felt himself be lifted off the ground by an unseen force. Rogue looked behind her and Jean was concentrating all her powers trying to keep Hulk suspended in mid-air. The Hulk was confused until he saw who was doing this to him.
"LET HULK GO." He said as he thrashed and flailed at the empty space around him. Jean didn't say anything the strain of the concentration required to hold such a large creature in the air like that was taking a considerable amount of focus and Jean knew she couldn't hold on for much longer.
"Someone do something I can't keep this up forever." Jean groaned out and Scott got up and fired a blast at the hulk sending him into another building. Jean began to breath heavy both from exhaustion and relief as she saw the building crumble on top of the massive beast.
"Easy Jean you did great." Scott said to his girlfriend Jean could only smile, the extended use of her powers in such a way exhausted her and she felt like she would pass out. Jamie and Tabby came running over to help when Logan came leaping out of the crater he had created when the Hulk hit him last.
"Where is big green?" Jean weakly pointed to the massive heap of rubble.
"Get everyone to safety Shades while you still have time." Logan warned.
"Why he won't be getting up from that anytime soon." Scott said with a proud smile.
"You don't know the Hulk Scott all you did was piss him off even further." Logan said as the building erupted sending shrapnel in all directions. Scott grabbed Jean and shielded her with his own body, he looked and there before him stood a very mad looking monster. Before Scott could even move the Hulk had smacked away Logan and grabbed a hold of Scott and began squeezing him like a grape in a vice.
"HULK SQUISH FREAK BOY." He said and continued to squeeze. Scott's head felt like it was about to explode his lungs burned for oxygen his bones began to snap at the joints. Scott could feel himself dying and he couldn't do anything to stop it. The Hulk raged while squeezing the life out of Scott that is until a large glob of webbing covered his eyes. The hulk let go of Scott and began grabbing at the webbing trying to clear his eyes. Scott looked and saw Peter dressed in his Spider-man suit helping him get off the ground.
"Peter…?" Scott asked as his vison came back to him.
"You know just once I would like to stay home and not have to save your sorry butts." Peter quipped as he and Jessica grabbed both his arms and dragged him to safety.
"What are you doing here?" Scott asked.
"The Professor called said you needed some back up." Peter explained and everyone that was at the mansion had arrived except for Morph, Beast, Bobby and Sean. "So tell me how did a simple, recon and rescue turn into a clash of the titans?"
"In a word… "Kitty"" Scott said in unison with Peter and Jessica. Peter looked over the small covering that was providing Scott with some cover and saw Logan and Cap trading shot for shot with the Hulk.
"They can't keep that up forever, but the Hulk can, he won't stop until we are all dead." Peter said as his mind began trying to formulate a plan that didn't require going toe to toe with the Hulk when he saw Rogue nearly passed out on the ground.
"Rogue! Get out of there!" Peter yelled but she didn't move Peter got up from his spot and ran as fast as he could to her. Peter picked up his girlfriend and began to carry her to safety when the Hulk noticed Peter and with one huge swipe he knocked Cap and Wolverine away and began to charge towards Peter and Rogue.
"HULK SQUASH LITTLE BUG MAN!" The hulk yelled and began to throw a haymaker punch. Peter knew he could dodge the punch easily but that would leave Rogue vulnerable so Peter dropped Rogue and stood in the fists path and took the blow hard in the chest. Peter was sent flying but to his surprise the punch didn't hurt as much as he thought it would, but in that moment something truly frightening happened Rogue began to wake up and Peter could see in her eyes the look of pure hatred and rage surge through her. The Hulk stood beside Rogue and raised both fists in the air and brought both hands down but to Hulks surprise his fists were stopped he looked closer and saw Rogue standing her ground under the massive weight and force of Hulks blows.
"HULK WILL CRUSH LITTLE GIRL AND BUG MAN!" Hulk bellowed.
"ROGUE WILL SMASH HULK!" Rogue shifted her weight and flipped the hulk of his feet. The Hulk had barely gotten back to his feet when he saw Rogue leaping through the air with her fist balled up ready to deliver a superman punch and deliver it she did it caught the hulk squarely on the jaw sending him spinning through the air. The Hulk found his feet quickly and felt for the first time in his life a small inkling of pain in his jaw, the Hulk wiped his hand across his mouth and saw green blood and he knew that this little girl had actually cut him. Rogue was taking every advantage and pressed for the attack once more but the Hulk wasn't fooled and countered her strike sending Rogue flying back. The two combatants kept like this for what seemed like hours but in reality it was only seconds, Peter sat up and quickly regained his composure sure it didn't hurt him but he didn't feel normal either he looked back at where his girlfriend was, she was locked in a Greco-Roman hand lock with the hulk Neither one was giving an inch they were dead even. To say surprise washed over Peter would be a massive understatement but none the less it was happening.
"Peter, regroup with the others while Rogue has the hulk busy." Peter heard the voice of the professor in his mind and swung over to the others.
"Man is it good to see you back with us professor." Peter said as he saw the Professor in a wheelchair being pushed by a blonde woman in a lab coat.
"Good to be back, but that must wait this Dr. Betty Ross she has a way to stop the hulk." The professor explained. Betty reached into her pocket and pulled out a small device that looked a mechanical syringe.
"This contains an extremely powerful sedative if we can get close enough to place it on his skin it will stop him." Betty explained.
"Give it here." Peter said and Betty handed it over.
"No, give it to me." The group looked around and saw Kitty walking over. "This all started because of me I should be the one to stop him besides he like totally can't touch me."
Scott looked at Peter as if trying to say that she was right. Peter handed over the device and reloaded his cartridges. The group was about to disperse when the Professor began to hold his head and scream in pain.
"What's wrong professor?" Storm asked trying to comfort the professor.
"Its Rogue I tried to inform her of our plan telepathically and all I got was pure rage." The Professor began to calm down as he severed his connection with Rogue.
"She absorbed the Hulk trying to save us looks like she took some of his rage as well." Scott said trying to sound confident but in reality everyone was worried because instead of one raging super strong monster on the loose they had potentially 2. Peter adjusted a lever on his web-shooters and activated his new stingers and webbing that he had grabbed before he left the mansion.
"You guys take down the Hulk I'll handle Rogue." Peter said but before he could leap into action he was stopped by the Captain.
"You could use some help with that I'm sure." Peter just beamed with admiration. His uncle used to tell stories about Captain America that he had heard as a young boy he was one of the driving forces that helped make Peter the hero he was today.
"Thanks Cap if you can keep her still so I can get a clean shot then she will out like a light hopefully." Cap nodded and the two broke off from the group.
"Now we need to cover Kitty so that the Hulk doesn't see her." Scott said and with much regret he told them his plan. "What we need to do is an all-out assault, now this is really going to hurt ok guys but we need to do this." Everyone nodded and prepared themselves.
"Alright everyone charge!" Scott yelled and everyone began their attack.
The Hulk heard the mass of people charging but he couldn't attack them while he was dealing with this girl who surprisingly was able to hold her ground against him, but he had one advantage that this girl couldn't overtake. The hulk using his larger mass and height picked Rogue off the ground and flung her directly toward Peter and Cap.
"Well he just made our job easier." Peter quipped as he made his way over to where Rogue landed. He ran up to her and found her awake but breathing heavy and on all fours once again.
"Rogue? Are you ok?" Peter asked but instead of the loving embrace of an intimate friend, Peter was met with the face of a rage filled pissed off woman.
"Just what exactly is she to you?" Cap asked slightly fearful of the girl in front of her.
"She's my girlfriend." Peter said flatly as Rogue began to get to her feet.
"She seems like a lovely girl." Cap said as he readied his shield.
Rogue walked right past them and toward the Hulk once more. Peter stepped in front of her to block her path but she just pushed through. "Rogue stop" Peter said and grabbed her arm. Rogue then shifted and looked at Peter with uncontrolled rage and clocked him in the jaw sending him flying back a few feet. Rogue then shifted from Peter on to the Captain.
"Oh this is going to be a long night." Cap said as Rogue attacked.
Back with the Hulk Cyclops was firing away trying to keep the Hulk concentrated on him while the other flanked him. The Hulk wasn't fooled he anticipated the maneuver and grabbed a boulder and flung it at the group charging him on his left the group scattered and surrounded the Hulk. Jessica fired her venom blast at the hulk hoping to slow him down but she was quickly swatted away and knocked out Tabby and Alex began peppering the Hulk with plasma bombs and energy blasts making the Hulk even angrier but it was all a distraction as Kurt teleported Kitty Behind the Hulk and they waited for the best opportunity to attach the sedative device. The Hulk was taking every attack thrown at him every explosion on his skin felt like a bee sting, Storm flew in pelting the green monster with strike after strike of lightning. The Hulk roared and smashed his hands together in a clapping motion causing a large disturbance of air sending Storm flying off and crashing into the ground. Spike and Jamie made their advance; Spike began firing a hail of bone spikes while Jamie rushed in with a rope trying to tie the Hulks feet together. Hulk shield his eyes from the torrent of spikes but he was able to see well enough and landed a punch in Jamie's chest causing him to split into 500 different Dupes going in all directions. The Hulk was getting weary of this he roared loudly and jumped high into the air then came crashing down like a meteor causing a huge shockwave of dust and rock sending the X-men flying. Hulk stood and huffed and before he knew it he felt a small prick in his back he turned and saw a small girl and a blue skinned boy with a tail. The hulk began to feel tired and woozy and then he spoke one last time.
"Hulk tired" and fell over the form of the green monster began to shrink until the hulk was no more and Dr. Banner remained.
Meanwhile Cap and Rogue were locked in combat Rogue had completely lost her mind she was lost within her own rage. Thankfully the strength she absorbed had begun to dwindle.
"I really don't want to hurt you Rogue… but you're leaving me… no choice." Cap grunted out as he dodged and countered every attack. Peter started to wake up he shook his head hard trying to clear the tweedy birds from his vision when he saw Cap on the defensive from Rogue. Peter fired a web line at Rogue's feet, the fluid connected and hardened Rogue fell over on her face, Cap jumped on her back and tried to hold her in place Peter leapt to his feet his stinger darts at the ready he jumped through the air and aimed his at his target and fired 4 darts flew and connected with Rogue's ass and the toxin began pumping through her system shutting her body down, a few seconds later she passed out. Peter landed and then dropped to his feet exhausted.
"Well done Spider-man." Cap said as he made his way over to the young super hero.
"Thanks Captain." Peter looked down and saw his girlfriend sleeping comfortably. "Well this is one Christmas we won't forget."
"Indeed, Merry Christmas Spider-man." Cap said to peter holding his hand out.
"Merry Christmas Cap." Peter said as he took it and the two shook hands.
