Hey guys! I'm sooooo sorry for the super long wait. I've been trying to get my grades up so I haven't had much time to write. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this chapter because I tried to make it really good to make up for the long wait. Enjoy!

When I wake up, the bed next to me is cold, showing that Cato has been gone for a little while. Last night was nightmare free, the thought causing a smile to spread across my face. I get up and get dressed in my training clothes. Today are the private sessions with the Gamemakers but this year is very different. The audience already knows what we all can do. It doesn't even matter what scores we get. I've also been told by Finnick that we are having another meeting tonight, after training scores are revealed. I need to get my information about what to do in the arena as it was interrupted last time by my need to talk to Finnick. I know that Cato was spoken to last time about his job but he is forbidden to tell me. I guess it makes sense. If everyone knows what is going on, there is more to reveal in the worst case scenario of being captured. There is not much chance of that happening now though. It's too close to the arena and too late to replace us. More likely if they suspect us, they'll target us in the arena.

I head down to breakfast and see that I am the first one there. This surprises me but then I actually look at a clock and see that it is only eight. Training doesn't start for two hours. I help myself to some breakfast and sit down at the table by myself, enjoying the quietness. After a couple minutes, Allison comes into the room.

"I came to check on you last night." she says with a sly smile. I blush a little bit, making her chuckle, "So you and Cato made up I guess." she says.

I nod, "Yeah, it was just...a misunderstanding." I say, not wanting to reveal anything about what we talked about. I hate this. I hate having to be careful about what I say, not knowing who is watching, not knowing how my actions will affect those around me.

She gives me a knowing look but nods, "So, what are your plans for the private session today?" she asks.

I shrug, "I don't know."

She gives me an exasperated look, "You can't just wing it."

"Why not?" I complain, "I didn't plan it last year and I got a nine."

"So think about what you would get when you plan it." she says.

"Does it really matter at this point anyway?"I ask.

She sighs, "Maybe not as much."

I smile and she laughs. I dig into my breakfast, the private sessions put into the back of my mind. After I finish, I head down to the training center. There are a couple of people there, including Finnick, who comes up to me immediately.

"You remember right?" he asks, raising his eyebrows.

I nod, knowing he is talking about our meeting on the roof tonight. He smiles at me, "So did you talk to Cato?" I nod again. "And did you tell him what we were talking about?" he asks.

"Yeah, I did. That's okay right?" I say, nervously. It never occurred to me that Finnick might not have wanted me to reveal that part of him to anyone.

He gives me a small smile, "It's fine Avery. If that's what it took to get you two to make up then it's okay."

"Are you sure?" I ask.

He nods, "You two are meant to be together Avery."

"Thank you." I say quietly.

Cato comes up behind me, giving Finnick an evil look.

"Calm down." Finnick says, "We're just talking." he chuckles softly and walks away.

I turn on Cato angrily, "What was that?" I ask, "I thought you knew nothing was going on between us."

"I know," Cato says, "It's just that..." he trails off hesitantly.

A smile spreads across my face, "Were you jealous?" I ask.

"No," he says, almost embarrassed.

I laugh, "Yes you were!" Atala walks into the room, silencing us as she explains the rules we all already know regarding the private sessions. When she releases us =, I head over to the knives and Cato follows me.

"What are you doing?" I ask him, "Shouldn't you be preparing for your own private session?"

He shakes his head, "I'm good. I just want to stay near you."

I smile at him and pick up a knife, "Go. I can take care of myself." I say playfully. He smirks at me but heads over to the swords. I practice with the knives until my fingers are sore and Atala calls us in for lunch. I walk in and sit down at a table across from Cato. Finnick comes in and sits down next to me, pulling a groaning Johanna with him. Judging by his expression, I don't think Cato was all too happy about our seating arrangement either. After lunch, we are ushered into a large room outside the training center to await our turn for the sessions. Cato is called in pretty quickly so I go over to sit with Katniss and Peeta. The districts slip away one by one until I hear my name being called. I walk into the training center, trying to keep my heartrate down. I don't know why I am nervous. I've already convinced myself these scores don't matter so I should be fine.

When I walk in, they give me attention immediately. Clearly they are eager to see what I do this year. It's obvious that the four of us are their main focus today. I head over to the trident station, deciding to start off with something small even if I am not very good at them. When I am done, I head over to the track and do some sprints to regain their attention. For the end of my session, I head back over to the place where I am the most comfortable. I set the targets on an automatic setting and watch them start moving. They are faster and more complicated then I had them set last year. This time, I also take out a belt of a dozen different kinds of knives. I start throwing them, once again hitting the center of the target every time. I glance up at the Gamemakers when I am done and see Head Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee looking at me with curiosity but approval. He stands and says, "Thank you Miss Callaway. You are dismissed."

I nod and walk out of the room quickly, eager to get out from the scrutinizing gaze of our Head Gammaker. When I get out, Cato is standing right next to the elevator, startling me.

"How'd it go?" he asks me.

I shrug, "I don't know. Good? What about you?" I ask."I did fine. It doesn't really matter anyway." he says. I nod and step into the elevator.

I head up to Cato's room to get him and go to the meeting. The scores have already come out and I got 10 as well as Cato. Katniss and Peeta both got a 12. Allison told me they must have done something bad. Something the Gamemakers considered an act of rebellion for them to give them that score. It was a good move on their part as it put an instant target on their backs.

I knock on the door to Cato's room and it flies open immediately. He looks pissed. Great.

"How did they get a 12?" he asks me in disgust.

I just shrug and pull him into the elevator listening to him rant about them the whole way there. When we get up to the roof I turn on him, finally silencing him, "Shut up Cato. They got 12's because they did something bad. The Gamemakers wanted us to target them. Stop talking about it. You're going to get us in trouble."

"What did they do?" he asks, suddenly curious.

I shrug, "If I knew I would tell you."

Then Finnick is there pulling us into the throng of other Victors, "Alright so here is what we need to talk about tonight." he starts, "Who is on our side. I've called all the Victors involved here but we have another ally as well. Plutarch Heavensbee."

"What?" I say, "The Head Gamemaker is in on the rebellion?"

He nods then continues to explain how they are going to go around and disperse the information as they did last time. He immediately seeks me out."So what's my part in all of this Finnick. What is going on?" I ask him immediately.

"Calm down Avery. I can't tell you everything but if this plan goes well, Plutarch will make sure that more than one tribute will make it out again." he says seriously.

"How though Finnick?" I ask desperately, "I need to know something."

"Just know that most of the people out there have agreed to keep Katniss alive at all costs and by extension, Peeta." he says.

I shake my head, "Cato isn't going to like that Finnick. No matter what you say, that isn't going to be his goal."

Finnick nods, "I know. That's why we've told him to protect you instead. Even though Katniss has become the symbol, the people in the smaller districts still look to you."

"Why?" I breathe out, "What did we do Finnick. This can't just have been us."

He sighs, "No, it wasn't. We've all been talking about this for a long time. The plans were actually put into motion after your little stunt on top of the Cornucopia. We never imagined your district or especially District 2 to be any part of this rebellion let alone a symbol."

"Yeah neither did I when I was going in. I never expected anything to turn out like this." I say with a sigh, "I need more information than just protecting those two."

"I'm sorry. I can't give that to you. Our original plan was to leave you out of this completely." he says. I give him a pleading look and he groans, "Fine. It's going to happen on the third day."

"What will?" I ask eagerly.

He chuckles and shakes his head, "I'm not giving away anything else."

"Fine." I say, knowing I'm not dragging anything else out of him. I head off the roof, not wanting to stick around. I know I won't be told anything else anyway. I go back down to my room and crawl between the sheets. I can't sleep so I just lay there, thinking about what's going to happen on the third day. Late that night, just as I am drifting off, I hear the door open and Cato comes in silently. He wraps his arms around me and I immediately fall asleep, all thoughts of the rebellion gone.
