I pulled in a deep breathe, the smell of pancakes and coffee filling my lungs. I stretched out on the mattress, the usual joints popping as a deep groan escaped me. I blinked against the sunlight and pushed myself up into a sitting position, taking in the state of the room.

It was different from my usual organized chaos, a cleanliness to it that seemed oddly military. The highbacked captain's chair that sat in the corner was usually stacked with books and field reports now had a neatly folded pair of beige, high waist slacks and a crisp blue button up. A pair of brown leather shoes your grandpa might wear sat next to each other at the feet of the chair, polished and ready for a days wear.

A soft smile pulled at my lips at the sight of the clothes, their existence something I had grown to expect and endear. Pushing back the covers I threw my legs over the edge and flipped my feet into the bunny slippers that were waiting. I shuffled to the doorway and slipped out into the hallway where I made my way towards the smell of food.

He was standing at the stove, flannel pajama bottoms on with a T-shirt that showed off his shoulder to waist ratio rather nicely. His usually combed down hair was mushed and standing up in the back from where he had ran his hand over it repeatedly in that usual nervous fashion of his.

I glanced over to the coffee maker, my smile widening when I found that he had actually managed to work the sticky note covered appliance without having to ask me for help.

"I can feel you watching me, Ellie."

I jumped slightly and snapped my attention back to him, baby blues looking back at me over his shoulder, a smile pulled at his lips. I smiled back and pushed off the doorway, arms coming up to wrap around his waist from behind. "Good morning, Steve," I greeted, resting my chin on his shoulder.

"Good morning, Ellie," he greeted back, pressing a kiss to my forehead. "How'd you sleep?"

I let out a content hum as my arms tightened around him. "Blissful, dreamless sleep," I told him, watching with mild interest as he flipped one of the pancakes. "Did you sleep at all?"

His jaw clenched as he kept his attention on breakfast. "I haven't really been tired lately," he answered.

A soft sigh left me at that. "Not even a little?"

He shook his head.

"Have you tried?" I questioned.

"Yes, Ellie, I've tried," he ground out.

"Okay, I'm sorry," I said, pressing a kiss to his shoulder. "I know this isn't easy for you."

"It isn't any easier on you either, Ellie, and I'm sorry," he said, his voice hard with a hint of self-loathing in it.

I shook my head. "No, it isn't easy," I agreed. "But if it was easy then it wouldn't be worth it."

His tense posture relaxed and he leaned back into me, his head bowing. "How is it that you always say the right things at the right time?" he asked, his hand coming up to squeeze both of mine.

A sigh left me. "Well, I got that lovely phrase from the back of a tea box a few years ago but I thought it sounded nice so I decided to keep it for a rainy day," I told him. "This seems like a pretty rainy day, don't ya think?"

"It wasn't supposed to be," he stated. "I-I was going to make you breakfast in bed, I even managed to make coffee without breaking the machine and I go and screw it up and-"

"You didn't screw it up," I assured him. "Some things we just can't avoid, no matter the situation."

"You're doing it again," he stated, smiling back at me.

I chuckled lightly and pressed a kiss to his cheek. "Your pancakes are burning," I told him.

His head snapped down to the stove. "Shit!" he yelped, jerking the pan away from the flame and quickly flipping it, a grimace pulling at his lips when he saw the black. "Darn it."

I let him go and stepped over to the cupboard, pulling down two coffee cups before filling them. "Thank you for making breakfast, by the way," I said, saddling back up to him, holding his cup out to him. "Were you really going to bring it to me in bed?"

A soft blush crossed his cheeks, his head ducking again as he took the coffee mug from me. "I wanted to do something nice for you," he stated. "You deserve it."

"Awww," I cooed, pushing myself up onto my tip toes to press another kiss to his cheek. "You know, I keep waiting for me to wake up and find that this was all a dream," I told him. "I've had a lot that start out like this."

He shook his head as his free arm wound around my waist. "This isn't a dream, Ellie," he said, his thumb rubbing up and down the small of her back. "At least, I keep praying that it isn't."

I held my tongue at the mention of praying. "If it is a dream I hope it never ends," I told him. "I'm starting to get used to having you back."

"Dream or not I'm not going anywhere, I can promise you that," he said, his tone sincere as his grip tightened around me.

I pulled in a deep breath and wrapped my arms around his shoulders, my face burying in his neck as I made a conscious effort not to spill my coffee all over him. "I love you, Steve."

"I love you too, Ellie."

I held on to him for a few moments more before pulling back to look at him. "What do you want to do today?" I asked. "Anything you want."

He seemed to think for a moment before a bright smile pulled at his lips. "How about we do something you want to do," he suggested. "We've spent the past month focused on me, how about we focus on you now?"

I couldn't' help but chuckle. "We've been focused on you because you're the one who can't operate a VCR player without hurting yourself," I told him, gently patting his cheek.

"I didn't hurt myself-"

"You sliced your finger open," I reminded him.

He chuckles lightly and nodded. "Yeah, okay, that's true," he allowed. "But still, we're doing something you want to do today."

I let out a sigh as I thought of something we hadn't done yet. I had taken him to all the tourist spots, showed him all the places that had changed and some of the places that had stayed the same. The only place we hadn't spent a lot of time at was-

"I know that look," Steve stated, a chuckle in his voice. "What do you want to do?"

"We'll eat breakfast, get ready and then we'll head out, okay?" I asked, pulling out of his arms and grabbing another plate out of the cupboard along with the butter and syrup.

"Should I be worried?" he asked, chucking the burnt pancake into the trash.

"No, you should be excited," I told him.

"Ellie, are you almost ready?" Steve's voice called from the living room.

"I'll be right there!" I called back before putting the finishing touches on on lipstick and stepping away from the mirror. I pulled in a deep breath, gathered my courage and stepped out into the hallway. "I hope it stays this sunny, not that I mind rain," I rambled, my nerves kicking in as I walked into the living room.

"I don't think it'll-" Steve cut off when he turned around, his eyes going wide as when he spotted me.

I shifted my weight nervously, my eyes dropping down to look at the dress. "Does it look okay?" I asked. "I haven't worn it since the 40's," I told him, my hands once again running over the skirts. I looked back up to him and found his face a bright shade of red and his jaw slightly slack. "Steve?"

He swallowed hard and cleared his throat, blinking several times. "Y-you look beautiful, Ellie," he said, his voice soft. "Really beautiful."

I couldn't help the bright smile and giggles that erupted from me. "Why thank you," I said before looking him over. He looked like he had just stepped out of some 40's film, hair and all. "God, you're handsome," I sighed.

A startled laugh left him. "Thank you?"

"You're welcome," I said with a smirk before stooping down to grab the basket sitting outside the doorway of the kitchen. "Ready to go?"

He nodded quickly and offered me his elbow, a gentle smile on his lips.

"What a gentleman."

The canopy of trees above us swayed with the breeze that swept through the park, the sound of laughter and chatter coming with it.

"I used to come here all the time," Steve stated, his arm around my waist tightening.

I moved my head till my chin was rested on his chest, my own arm draped across his torso wrapping aroind him tighter. "What would you do?"

"I would pick a spot and draw anyone who stood still long enough," he answered with a soft chuckle. "I had sketch books full of people I didn't know."

I pursed my lips. "Do you think you'll start drawing again?" I asked. "It might help a little?"

He seemed to think for a moment, his eyebrows puckered in thought. "Maybe," he allowed. "I haven't thought about it much."

"It used to take you away," I told him, my hand moving up his chest to play with one of the buttons. "I remember watching you when we were between factories. You'd sit at the edge of camp and just watch us. You'd pick one of us and just draw till you ran out of light and even then you'd move to the fire and keep going. After a while we stopped trying to talk to you and just left you alone," I said, a soft smile pulling at my lips as I remembered watching him by the camp fire. "Sometimes you feel asleep with it still in your hands with pencil smudges all over your fingers. The guys wanted to steal it to see what you drew but I never let them. I'd hide it till they fell asleep and I would put it back in your bag."

"You never looked?" he wondered.

I shook my head the best I could. "We all deserved our own little worlds. That was yours, I didn't want to intrude."

He chuckled, his chest vibrating with the sound. "Ellie, I didn't draw anyone else."

My head jerked up to look at him. "What?"

He rolled his head over to look at me. "I never drew the guys."

"Then who did you draw?" I asked, my own wonder clear in my voice.

"Who do you think?" he asked. "You're not a Dumb Dora, Ellie, use your noggin'."

My eyebrows pulled together. "...nature?" I asked after a moment of hesitation.

He laughed this time. "Ellie, there was something a lot more beautiful than nature in those camps," he stated, smiling brightly. "It was you, Ellie," he said, his free hand coming up to tap the tip of my nose. "I only drew you."

My eyebrows shot up. "Really?" I asked.

He nodded. "When I went with the Senator and you went back to England I couldn't get you out of my head. I had sketchbooks filled with just you. It got to the point where I could draw you blindfolded," he admitted. "I think the first time I didn't draw you was when we met again."

"The monkey on the unicycle," I remembered with a soft smile. "I think I have that sketchbook."

His eyes brightened. "You do?"

I nodded absently. "I think so," I murmured. "I have a lot of your stuff."

His smile fell slightly as he brushed his knuckles across my cheek. "Ellie, I'm-"

I caught his hand and shook my head. "You have to stop apologizing," I told him, pressing his hand to my cheek. "It's starting to get on my nerves."

That anguished look crossed his face. "Ellie-"

"Ah!" I yelped, covering his mouth with my hand. "No."

A sigh left him as he gave a small nod, looking slightly defeated but his eyes crinkled with a smile.

"Good," I said before pushing myself up. "Come on, I want ice cream," I said, spinning on my heel and taking off across the lawn towards the vendor I knew wasn't far. A burst of laughter left me when I heard him following after me.

"This is so much better than I remember," Steve noted as he took another lick of his strawberry ice cream.

I smiled brightly. "The miracles of science," I said before taking a teeth chilling bite of my chocolate mint. "We'll have to do a food tour around the city to see what's improved," I told him. "There's this great Italian place a few blocks away from home, they do take-out," I rambled, looking up to him with a bright smile. "I'll get a good wine and we'll have a nice night in, how about that?"

He smiled down at me, that familiar twinkle starting to shine. "I would love that, Ellie."

That put a little skip into my step. "Good," I stated, my eyes dropping down to follow a child as she ran in front of us. My eyes widened when I spotted her destination. "Oh, Steve," I said, reaching up and touching his arm, my eyes never leaving the carousel. "Can we?" I asked.

He looked to where I was looking and chuckled lightly. "At least you haven't changed, Ellie," he stated, his hand grabbing mine and leading me off.

My smile dropped slightly at that, knowing that if he saw what I had become while he was gone he wouldn't like it.

We weaved our way through the gate and climbed up onto the ride, smiling at the children that smiled at us as we weaved our way through the animals.

"What do you want to ride?" he asked, his eyes scanning the inanimate creatures.

I bit my lip as I looked around me. "That one," I declared, pointing forward to the wolf on the inner row.

He chuckled again and led me over, his hand never leaving mine.

I swore silently as I tried to figure out a way to climb up onto it in a skirt and with an ice cream cone.

"Will you hold this for a moment?" Steve asked.

Thinking he was going to climb onto the lion next to me I turned, nodded, and gently took the cone from him. A startled yelp left me, however, when his hands gripped my waist and lifted, setting me on the saddle of the wolf.

Steve smiled up at me with the brightness of the sun. "You're adorable when you're startled," he stated, his hands on my waist tightening before letting go to take his ice cream back.

"You could have warned me," I told him, my now free hand grabbing the gold pole that ran through the wolf.

He seemed to think for a moment before shaking his head. "I don't think so," he stated. "If I told you then you wouldn't have made that adorable face and my day would have been a little dimmer without it."

I resisted the urge to 'aww' as I melted inside, my smile twitching at the corners of my mouth. "You're making me soft, Rogers," I told him with my best scolding tone.

"I happen to like you soft," he stated before turning to the lion and climbing up onto it.

I could only watch him for a moment before laughing, my hand going to my dress pocket to pull out my phone to take a picture.

Steve looked over just in time for me to take a picture of him licking his ice cream, a rather awkward expression on his face.

I snorted softly as I looked the picture over before saving it. "That is my new background," I stated.

"Really, Ellie?" he asked, his tone annoyed but smile still present.

"What? It's not better than the one you set as yours," I stated, still a little sour over the picture he had managed to take of me sleeping, my hair tangled and face make-up less.

"I think you look beautiful," he stated, looking at me over the rim of his sunglasses.

I rolled my eyes and took a lick of my own ice cream as I slipped my phone back into my pocket.

Suddenly, the platform jerked forward and the carousal came to life.

An excited giggle escaped me as the wolf moved up and down, my balance jostling slightly.

I was still laughing as we made our way back towards the picnic, my arm looped around his waist while his own arm was wrapped around my shoulders.

The clouds above us groaned and blackened, lightening shooting across the sky as the rain started to fall.

"Oh come on," I complained, squinting up at the sky. "I was joking about it being a rainy day."

Steve pulled his jacket off and held it over our heads. "Nearest tree," he stated.

I nodded and we both took off running.

Laughter rang from us as we made our way across the grass, my arm back around his waist as the rain got heavier.

Steve lowered his jacket when we reached the dry canopy of the tree, a bright smile on his lips as he shook the water from it.

I calmed my laughter to a soft chuckle as I leaned against the trunk of the tree, the bark biting into my exposed shoulders. "I haven't ran from rain like that since I was a kid," I told him.

He shook his head. "I've actually never ran from rain," he stated. "Never had a beautiful girl to worry about getting sick before."

"I hate to burst your bubble, Steve, but neither of us can get sick," I reminded him.

He shook his head. "Doesn't mean it doesn't worry me," he stated, gesturing for me to turn around.

I pushed off the tree and spun around, not bothering to question him. My smile widened when the warm leather of his jacket appeared on my shoulders. I slipped my arms through the sleeves, smiling as they fell to my knuckles and turned back to Steve.

His smile softened and a certain look filled his eyes. "You're beautiful, Ellie," he stated, his hand coming up to brush my wet hair away from my face. His other hand went to my waist as he leaned towards me, his eyes heavy lidded as he paused less than an inch away from me.

I pulled in a shaky breath, my eyes dropping to his slightly parted lips. My hands moved on their own, trailing my fingers up his arms till they were tangled in his hair. With a gentle tug I brought his lips to mine and allowed myself this one moment of peace.

My eyes snapped open when the bed jostled, Steve's heat leaving almost instantly. I pushed myself up when the bedroom door closed and the hum of the TV sounded from the living room. I threw the covers back, grabbed my robe and padded over to the door. Slipping through it easily I stuck to the wall as I made my way down the hall to the living room, peeking around the corner to find Steve seated on the couch and one of the documentaries flashing across the screen.

"You okay?" I couldn't help but ask as my fingers fidgeted with the tie of my robe.

Steve jumped and jerked around to look back at me. "Ellie," he sighed, once again relaxing. "I'm sorry, did I wake you?"

"Are you okay?" I repeated, walking over to the couch as one hand came up to run through his hair.

He leaned into my hand slightly. "Can't sleep," he stated.

I nodded to myself and moved around to the front of the couch where gingerly sat down next to him. "What are we watching?"

He let out another sigh. "I don't even know anymore," he admitted, running a hand across his face. "It's all started to bleed together."

I ran my fingers through his hair as I snagged the remote from his hands. "Then how about we watch something a little more familiar?" I suggested.

"Ellie, you're the only thing familiar," he stated, his eyes dropping closed.

I shook my head as I pushed myself off the couch and over to the bookcase that held my movies. I pursed my lips as I searched for the right title, trying to remember the last time I had watched it. With a triumphant laugh I pulled the DVD from the shelf and practically skipped over to the player as I put it in and returned to the couch. Punching the right buttons on the remote the menu screen popped up and I looked to Steve with an eager smile.

His eyes widened slightly as he took the screen in. "Casablanca," he murmured, a soft smile twitching at his lips. "I saw this when it first came out," he stated. "I made Bucky go with me but he ended up making out with the girl next to him."

I couldn't help but laugh at that. "That sounds like something he would do," I stated, pressing play. "I saw it with Victor. He fell asleep before the first scene."

He slipped his arm around my waist and pulled me closer, his lips pressing to my temple. "Now we can watch it together," he mused.

"Ellie?" Steve asked, his breath puffing up in the night air. "What are we doing here?"

"It's a surprise," I told him, slipping the beaten key into the lock and opening it with a bump of the hip. "Come on," I encouraged, slipping in and searching for light switch.

"Ellie, I don't-" he cut off when I turned the lights on, his eyes widening when he took the room in.

The gym had been established some time after WW2 for veterans who wanted a place to go when it all got to be too much. The equipment has been well taken care of and little to nothing had been changed about it, leaving the 1940's preserved in one room.

"What is this place?" he asked, closing the door behind him as he stepped further in.

"It's yours," I told him, holding the key up for him to see. "The man who used to run it was going to retire so I bought it and I'm giving it to you."

His eyebrows shot up. "Giving it to me? Why?"

"A lot of war veterans used this place as a sanctuary. A place to blow off steam," I explained. "I figured you could come here when you can't sleep."

Steve's mouth opened and closed several times as he struggled to think of something to say. "E-Ellie..." he trailed off, shaking him head.

I rocked back and forth on my heels as I watched him. "You don't have to use it if you don't want to, I just thought-" I was cut off by a pleasant kiss, Steve's hands cupping my face.

"I love it, Ellie, thank you," he said, pressing a kiss to my forehead before walking off to look around.

I smiled to myself as I watched him walk around like a kid in a candy store.

I woke with a jerk as Imperial March filled the quiet air, my cell lighting up on the nightstand with Nick's picture.

"What time is it?" I asked when I answered.

"Time for you to pack," Nick stated.

My eyebrows pulled together as I pushed myself up to look at the alarm clock. "Nick, it's two in the morning," I accused. "Why the hell am I packing?"

"Because you have a mission."

A growl ripped from my throat. "Nick, I am not in the mood for your bullshit!" I snapped. "What the hell is going on?"

A tired sigh left him. "Do you remember the Egypt Mission in 06?" he asked.

My sneer dropped as my head ran through the old mission details. "What about it?"

"It's an issue again."

"Fuck," the word slipped through my mouth before I could stop it. "Can't one of the kids take care of it?"

"Do you honestly trust the kids to take care of this?" he asked. "The amount of time you put into it the first time? Eleanor, you were there for almost a year."

"I know," I groaned, running a hand through my hair. "Nick, I can't just leave," I stated. "Steve still isn't-"

"Eleanor, he's been back for two months now, I'm sure he's more than capable of taking care of himself for a few weeks."

"That's all this is going to take? A few weeks?" I demanded. "Can you promise me that?"

"Eleanor, with a situation like this I can't promise anything. I know you can understand that."

I nodded reluctantly. "I can understand that," I admitted reluctantly. "Nick, I don't-" I cut off, shaking my head. "It's not just me making these decisions anymore, I have to ask Steve."

An exasperated sigh left him. "Eleanor, this isn't up for-"

"I'll call you at a more reasonable hour," I told him before hanging up. I silently cursed and looked over to Steve's side of the bed, not at all surprised to find it empty. "Looks like I'm c0020going to the gym," I muttered.

I pushed open the door and was greeted with the familiar thump of Steve's fists on a punching bag. Closing the door behind me I made my way to the boxing ring where I hopped up and perched on the side, leaning against the ropes as I watched Steve.

"I can feel you watching me," Steve stated, pausing in his routine punches to look at me over his shoulder, a small smile on his lips. "Hello, beautiful."

I hummed happily and smiled. "Hello, handsome," I greeted back, my voice soft.

He stepped away from the bag, his fingers working on the tape that covered his knuckles. "Is everything okay, Ellie?" he asked, concern in his voice as he walked over.

I watched him for a moment before patting the space next to me. "We need to talk about something."

His smile dropped as he watched me for a moment before nodding slowly and sitting next to me, his elbows braced on his knees as he stared at the floor. "You're leaving, aren't you?"

I was a little surprised that he had guessed right. I pulled in a deep breath and nodded. "Maybe," I answered.

He nodded slowly, a frown pulling at his lips. "I knew it was only a matter of time," he stated.

"I'm sorry."

He let out a sad laugh. "You don't have to apologize, Ellie," he told me. "Honestly, I'm surprised it took this long."

I dropped my head down and let out a sigh. "I told Nick I was taking a break from missions, that I wasn't going anywhere till you were settled, but he called me and told me that there's a situation in Egypt with one of my old missions and I'm the only one who can take care of it," I explained, looking over to him. "I told him I would talk to you before making a decision."

His head snapped up, eyes wide and mouth hanging open slightly. "What?" he asked.

My eyebrows pulled together. "What?" I asked back.

"You're not leaving me?" he asked, his voice almost panicked.

"That's up to you," I told him. "Should I go on the mission or not?"

He simply watched me.

I watched him back, still confused by what he was confused about. I went over the conversation in my head, picking apart the words. My heart stuttered in my chest when I realized what he had heard. "You thought I was leaving leaving you?" I asked.

That bitter look reappeared on his face and he looked back to the floor, his jaw tense.

I slid to my feet and moved in front of him, my hands coming up to cup his jaw in an attempt to make him look at me but he refused. I frowned and moved my hands down to his shoulders. "I don't know if you noticed but I didn't take your absence very well the first time, what the hell makes you think I'm going to willingly put myself through that again?" I asked, my tone a little harsher than I had intended. "I love you, Steve. I loved you during the way and I love you now so don't think for a minute that I'm going to disappear."

He raised his head, a tear streaking down his cheek. "Ellie….you shouldn't love me.'

"And why not?" I demanded, reaching up and whipping the tear away.

"I left you, Ellie," he stated.

I shook my head. "Not this again, Steve," I said. "How many times do I have to tell you that I don't blame you for that?"

"Ellie-"

"No," I cut in. "To quote a TV show I have yet to show you 'the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few'," I told him. "It was war, Steve, we all did things we knew would have consequences and we lived with them because it was the only choice we had at the time," I said, my fingers lightly running through his hair. "I won't lie and tell you that a part of me didn't hate the world for what happened but there was never a time that that hate was directed towards you. I could never hate you."

Steve closed his eyes, the tears that had built in his eyes falling. "I'm sorry, Ellie," he said, his arms coming up and wrapping around my waist, pulling me to him while he buried his head in my stomach.

"We knew this wasn't going to be easy," I reminded him, my own arms wrapping around his neck, holding him to me. "I love you, Steve."

He shuddered in my arms. "I love you too, Ellie."

I smoothed my hands over his hair and pulled in a deep breath. "What should I do about the mission?"

He sniffed loudly and pulled back, looking up to me with his bloodshot eyes. "Do you want to go?" he questioned.

I shook my head. "No."

"You said you were the only one who can fix this, is that true?"

I grimaced as I thought through my other options. I shook my head when I realized there weren't any. "I'm the only one."

"Then I don't see another option."

"I can stay here. Tell Nick to send someone else," I said, my fingers threading through his hair. "I don't want to leave you."

He chuckled lightly, a small smile twitching at his lips. "Ellie, I think I can take care of myself for a while," he told me. "I'll watch some documentaries, read some books, maybe even go out explore, see what's changed."

I watched him for a moment before letting out a sigh. "Are you sure? Nick said it'd be a few weeks and most of the time that gets dragged out to months."

"Ellie, if you're the only one who can do this then I don't see another choice," he told me.

A frustrated sigh left me as I slumped forward slightly, my forehead coming down to rest against his. "I hated this mission the first time around," I stated.

"I'm sure everything will be fine," he assured me. "You're good at what you do."

"What I do isn't very nice," I whispered.

He sighed and raised his hands, his fingers tangling in my hair as he smiled softly at me. "It's just a job, Ellie, it doesn't define you."

I pulled in a deep breath, taking comfort as his scent filled my lungs. "I'll come back as soon as I can," I told him, pulling back and pressing a kiss to the bridge of his nose.

He couldn't help but chuckle at my actions. "I have no doubt that you will."

"I'll have to leave tonight."

"Then let's get you packed," he said, standing up and grabbing his bag before wrapping his arms around my waist and leading me towards the door.

~Two weeks later~

I raised the spoonful of Frosted Flakes to my mouth, my eyes locked on TV as I mindlessly watched a news station, the Arabic sluggishly translating in my head. I was about to take the bite when an alert went off on my laptop, the sound disrupting my otherwise peaceful morning. I glanced over to the kitchen counter, frowning as I pulled myself from the couch and walked over to see what had set it off.

The shattering of the bowl against the hardwood floor snapped me out of the shock I had fallen in to. Ignoring the glass on the floor I ran back to the couch and grabbed my phone, fingers quickly pressing speed dial 2.

"I was just about to call you."

"Phil, please, tell me it isn't true," I pleaded, my eyes moving back to watch the security footage.

Phil let out a sigh. "I'm sorry, Liz, he got to it before I could."

My jaw clenched. "Do you know what he's going to do with it?"

"I know that Dr. Selvig was brought in and consulted. I believe he's planning on recreating the tests you and Howard performed before you brought it to S.H.I.E.L.D."

A slightly relief filled sigh left me. "He can't do too much damage if he sticks to our notes. Howard and I left a few of the more dangerous experiments out of the files we brought with it."

"Are you going to be okay, Liz?" he asked, concern laced in his voice. "I know this is a touchy subject for you."

I glared at the screen as I watched Nick and several agents take the Tesseract out of the storage room. "No, I'm not going to be okay."

I have over 400 emails and I haven't read a single one so if you requested something or asked questions I shall try my best to get to them.

Thank you all for being patient, the past couple of weeks haven't been the easiest.
