LOVE HURTS
CHAPTER 37

Kylee was confused. Then she noticed the multiple deep cuts that ran across the side of her body. By what stuck out of the most was the large gash on Kate's head. Blood poured out of the wound, staining the bright green grass.

Suddenly, Kate became dizzy and weak. Her eyes flickered and her jaw went slack as she collapsed over onto the ground, Unconscious.
Nicky was the first to come to Kate's aide. During the time she had spent training Kate, they had formed a tremendously strong bond of friend ship.

Nicky picked Kate and dragged her to the nearest cave, while Kylee carried Humphrey.

Humphrey had regained consciousness before they had reached the cave. But Kate this time, Kate had received the fatal injury. Nicky propped Kate up against the wall, hoping it would help stop the bleeding.

In Kate's Mind-

Kate opened her eyes, she looked all around her, she had no clue where she was, yet this place she was in seemed rather familiar. A bright and warmly shining sun, bright green grass. She was surrounded by hundreds of other wolves who obviously knew her, but she had no clue who they were. Then far off on top of a hill she could see a wolf standing tall and strong. He was so familiar to her. She cantered up closer to him. And when he noticed her, he gazed into her eyes and smiled warmly. Those eyes and that smile were so familiar, and yet not. But that image, that warm, melting smile had been burned into her memory, as did a name.

Kate's eyes flashed open. She looked around. "Where am I?" she groaned. Nicky smiled and hugged her warmly. "Kate! Thank goodness you're okay!" Nicky shouted with joy as she hugged her tightly.

"Tell me, can you remember anything?" Nicky questioned almost immediately.

"Only a name." Kate answered.

Nicky listened, it's not like she had a choice anyway. (Don't forget that she's blind.)

"And the name would be?"

"Humphrey." Kate replied.

Nicky took a step back in amazement. But in a way he understood. For she too had loved, and she still speaks to the one she fell in love with. She says that sometimes, she can hear his soul speaking to her.

Kate's love for him had been so strong that his name had been cemented into her brain.

Humphrey walked in at that very moment. "Hey guys, what's up?"

When Kate saw Humphrey, she recognized him as the same wolf from her dream. Then be looked at her and smiled, taking her back even farther. That image in her head matched that very same wolf that was standing before her.

Kate stared at him, her eyes never leaving him, like a trance of some sort.

"Who are you?" Kate asked gesturing to the gray wolf.

Humphrey just smiled back at her. "Humphrey. Who are you?"

Kate shook her head. "I honestly don't know." She replied.

But Kate could still remember his name and that she loved him. So she was still going to do everything in her power to make him hers.

"But you can just call me Veronica." Kate replied, making up a name right on the spot.

"Okay, Veronica, were headed home to Jasper Park Canada, are you still going to come with us or are you going to stay here?" Humphrey asked.

Kate nodded her head. "Im coming with you." she replied.

_Five hour's later_

Humphrey cantered up next to Kylee. "Hey Kylee?" He asked.

Kylee turned her head to face Humphrey. "Yes, what is it?"

Humphrey's face became tense and serious. An expression he had hardly ever shown.

"I want to become an alpha like you." He asked

Kylee stopped and locked eyes with Humphrey.
"Are you sure?"

"I'm sure." Humphrey nodded reassuringly.

Kylee wasn't expecting this from Humphrey, but he was her brother.

"Very well, but I believe it would be better if Nicky taught you this." Kylee agreed.

Humphrey looked over at Nicky. "But she's blind."

Nicky chuckled at Humphrey's comment. "You're not scared are you?"

_Back In Jasper_

Lilly ran out of her cave, tears pouring out of her eyes. She ran towards her mother and father's cave, crying as hard as she ever had before, which meant she had been hurt pretty bad. She hardly ever showed any emotion.

She rushed inside, running straight to the back of the den, collapsing to the ground, crying her heart out.

Her mother, deeply concerned, cantered in over next to her.

"What's wrong dear?" Eve asked in a soft, sweet voice.

Lilly looked up at her mother, revealing the hurt in her lovely purple eyes. Tears flowed down her face like a river.

"It's Garth!" she choked.
