Unexpected
Chapter 35
'December'
Gone: 125 Weeks
"You are nuts," Jamie told Adria as they stood there in that church, early Christmas morning. Adria was dressed in a long white dress.
"Why, because we're getting married on Christmas?" Adria asked and Jamie nodded. "Well, he'll never forget our anniversary. If he does he has serious problems. Besides, this means little planning, little ceremony, just enough celebration and plenty of fun tonight."
"Yeah, I'm sure you will," Jamie told her friend. She had that grin that told her what she really meant.
"Not that way. You are sex crazed," Adria laughed and Jamie shushed her while glancing at Mandy who was looking in the mirror with a frown. She kept pulling at her dress like Jamie had been earlier. "She's not listening. She's too concerned with the dress which is adorable on her. She's too much of a tomboy."
"She is my daughter after all," Jamie said with a shrug. That's when the minister came in.
"Is the bride ready?" he asked and they nodded before heading to their spots at the end of the church. She saw Richie light up when he saw Adria in her tight white gown that flared in a mermaid style. She heard them give their vows to love and cherish one another.
Then they kissed. Both twins groaned before covering their eyes and Jamie smiled at them. They all laughed at the innocent reaction.
After that they head home where she has a vegetarian meal, with a steak for Richie needing to be cooked, waiting for them. It didn't take long and they ate dinner before getting the twins to open presents.
Jamie watched as Mandy tore through the paper and squealed with delight with almost every present she opened. On the other hand Jory pulled at each object gently, not tearing any of the paper to reveal what was underneath. The corner of his lips turned upwards into a smile as he placed them in a pile while folding the paper up neatly beside him once he was done.
All night the children played with their new toys while Jory continued to expand his talents at reading. He was now up to books recommended to eight through ten-year-olds. Mandy stood there with the holo-game, catching an invisible ball so that she could toss it again. It kept her busy without trying.
