A/N: Hi guys, I just wanted to try out a quick AU where Peach was born completely blind. Actually, I think something like this would make a great multi-chapter short story. There aren't enough fics about characters with legitimate disabilities!

Anyhow, hope you enjoy!

There were many things Peach knew about her world: she knew exactly where the corners of all her furniture were, she knew where her radio was and her favorite stations, she knew how to dance and loved to do so.

However there were also many things Peach did not know about her world. She didn't know the sound of her own mother's voice, she didn't know that her kingdom owed a huge deficit to the Darklands, and she didn't know that the man sitting in front of her, her kidnapper, was a gigantic horned Koopa king.

She sat tied to a chair, hair falling limply in her face, "What will you do with me?"

Bowser sat in the chair opposite, blatantly staring at her, "Dunno yet," he muttered. "If your kingdom paid its debts on time, you wouldn't be here."

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said, letting more hair slide into her face. She wished he would stop staring at her. It was rude, and just because she couldn't see didn't mean she couldn't feel his eyes upon her face. "I don't even know who you are."

"You may not, but your dad sure does. Just imagine the look on his face when he realizes his precious little daughter has gone missing," he laughed.

Peach gave him a nonplussed expression; she had never seen her father's face before.

Bowser blushed, "Uh, I meant, imagine how pissed he's gonna sound!" He paused, "Sorry, no offense."

Peach shook her head, her long bangs swaying from side to side, "None taken. You sound a little strange yourself. What are you?"

Bowser frowned, taken aback by the blunt question. "I'm a king, what do you think?"

Peach shook her head again, "Are you a mushroom, like my father? Or are you a human, like me? Or…"

Bowser snorted, but felt his face get hot, "None of your business; why do you wanna know anyhow?"

Peach shrugged, beginning to feel her arms go numb from the ropes, "It just feels like I'm at a bit of a disadvantage, not knowing what kind of being you are."

"Oh well, too bad for you," he grunted, noticing her squirming in discomfort.

"Hey, Wormbreath," he motioned to Kamek, "untie Peach's ropes."

Kamek aimed his wand and disintegrated the ropes by magic. Peach felt the binds immediately fall away from her.

"Well, uh, I got some king stuff to do, so, uh…You're in a room right now, sitting in a chair. The chair it's, uh, blue."

Peach furrowed her brows.

"Uh, this room is your room, so you're free to explore it. The bathroom is behind you if you need to, you know, do bathroom stuff."

Peach stayed glued to her chair, not wanting to have to reach out and feel her way around the room, exposing her weakness while her kidnappers were present.

Bowser coughed nervously, "H-hey, you can get up, right?"

Peach's cheeks flushed and she yelled, "Yes! Yes, I can get up. I'm blind, not disabled, so please just…get out of my sight."

Bowser chortled, "Technically I…"

"OUT!"

Peach felt the door slam and waited until she was sure everyone was gone from the room, then slowly made her way up and off the velvety chair and began carefully feeling around the empty room.

She supposed she should be scared that she was kidnapped, and she was scared, but more than anything she was curious. Why hadn't her father told her about the debt? Why did he let it come to this? Why did this kingdom decide to hold her hostage?

That man, the king…she didn't even know his name. His voice was so deep and husky, with a deep bass unlike anything she'd ever heard. She guessed it could get quite loud if he were angered, but it also seemed a little uncertain at the moment. She supposed he was trying to be kind, but Stars if it wasn't patronizing and awful when people assumed she was unable to do anything.

Still, the more important matter at hand was settling this debt so she could go home. Surely there must be a peaceful resolution at hand.

Bowser paced his study, looking down at his claws. He had kidnapped the Mushroom Kingdom's princess to get revenge against the kingdom for not paying their obligations but her had never expected her to be so…

"She seems like a nice girl, doesn't she sire?" mused Kamek. "Even if she did yell at us to get out of her room, it's to be expected…a woman needs her privacy, right my lord?"

"She's pretty," Bowser muttered to himself, "For a human girl."

"Hey Kamek, can't you make her see again?"

"Again?" Kamek asked, "Sire, I believe Princess Peach was born blind, a defect caused by mixing human and mushroom genetics."

"Oh, that sucks," grumbled Bowser, "Does that mean you can't fix her?"

Kamek shrugged, "Her vision? It's hard to say. But otherwise, she is perfectly healthy, there is no reason to assume she wants or needs any fixing."

Bowser grumbled, "What are you talking about? She's blind, you idiot. Who wouldn't want to be able to see?"

Kamek remained silent, busying himself with the preparation of some Koopa Leaf tea.

"You know what, I'm gonna go ask her right now if she wants to have my super awesome Magikoopas fix her bad eyes so she can see the world!"

"But Sire, what about your plan? You didn't want any of us to directly touch Princess Peach because she would find out that we were Koopas. Weren't you going to pass yourself off as a human so you wouldn't scare her?"

Bowser sat back down, "Oh…yeah. W-well maybe I'll ask her about that later then."

Peach laughed, stuffing another jelly-filled crepe roll into her mouth.

"And then, I got so mad that I smashed it to the ground!"

Peach gasped, "B-Bowser, are you sure that's alright?"

Bowser coughed, "Well, actually, it turns out it wasn't such a great idea. Between you and me, I was picking ancient artifact shards out of my tail for weeks."

Peach gasped again, "Tail!? You have a tail?"

Bowser's eyes went wide and he gritted his teeth. They were having such a good time, eating snacks and telling stories, that he totally forgot he was supposed to be a human and not a Koopa. "It's just a figure of speech, I didn't want to say 'butt' in front of a woman, especially not a prissy princess like you."

Peach frowned, "Please. Let me touch it."

Bowser drew back, "Woah, you wanna touch my butt? Don't you think that's a little weird?"

Peach felt her face grow hot and cheeks flush pink, "No, you…fool, I want to feel your tail. I know you have one, I can hear it dragging on the ground!"

"Too bad, I'm not letting you touch anything," Bowser retorted.

"But why not!? It's not fair! I just want to know what you…"

Bowser stuffed his fingers into his ears, forgetting she couldn't see him do it, "No, no, nope, not gonna happen. Just forget it, Princess."

"Bowser," she whined, "Please? Why not?"

Bowser drooped. "Because, you'll think it's scary. Humans and Mushrooms always think it's scary, and….I don't wanna hear you scream."

"Scary? Are you…scary?" Peach clutched her hands in front of her chest, "N-no, it doesn't matter. I won't be scared, no matter what, because I know…I know from the sound of your voice. You're not scary."

Bowser folded his arms, "My voice? My voice is plenty scary!" He let out a bellowing evil laugh for emphasis, which only served to make Peach grin.

"I'm still not scared yet," she outstretched her arms, "Please…"

A/N: And by the way, Kamek was right :)
