Chapter 34
It felt longer than usual, being away from Arendelle for half a year. But ever since Elsa and I had promised ourselves to each other last winter, the distance felt ten times worse. It's not like we could get married and have children or anything, but it was better than nothing. It was a special bond the two of us would share, until the day we died. As I glided down toward the palace, I wondered how things had changed. Kristoff and Anna had been married over the summer, so there would be a new member of the family living in the palace. I glanced up at the full moon as I silently landed on the windowsill of Anna's room. It was a cool, clear night, and the stars were shining brightly.
I peered through the glass, frost creeping along the edges of the window as I touched it. Anna lay on her side, Kristoff fit snuggly against her back, arm draped over her waist. They were sleeping soundly. Silent as a shadow, I leaped off the sill and glided up toward Elsa's bedroom. All was dark inside. I pushed open the window with ease, frost spreading across the glass in intricate patterns. I slid inside and closed the window behind me. The carpet felt soft and warm beneath my bare feet.
Tiptoeing toward the bed, I gazed down at the sleeping queen. Her hair, which was usually braided back, pooled loosely around her body in soft waves. In the moonlight it glistened like fresh snow. She looked so peaceful, without a care in the world. She was beautiful—my Ice Princess. I sat on the edge of the bed and leaned over her, placing a gentle kiss on her cheek.
"Mmm." She stirred, rolling onto her back. Her eyes fluttered open and she stared up at me, her lids heavy with sleep. "Jack?"
"Hey, Elsa."
She rubbed her eye with one hand. "I had a feeling you were here. I felt you nipping at my nose."
I grinned. "Did I make it cold?"
She nodded. Reaching up, she wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me down toward her. "I missed you."
"Me too."
I tossed my staff aside and crawled onto the bed, hovering over her. She pulled me closer and kissed me, a deep, passionate kiss. She moaned into the kiss, arching her back up so that our bodies met. I could feel her magic coursing through the room, radiating from her body into mine. It made my blood sing—it resonated with her. Sliding my hand softly up her leg, I rested it gently on her thigh. She pulled back, breathless. Her icy blue eyes shone in the moonlight, glinting with mischief.
"Why don't you show me how much you missed me, Jack Frost?" She smiled coyly.
I kissed her again. "As you wish, Your Majesty."

It was still dark and the first cool breezes of winter were swirling about the bedroom. Elsa pinned her cloak around her shoulders. After my initial welcoming, I figured it would be nice to spend some time outside. Elsa's silky blue nightgown clung to every curve of her body, leaving nothing to the imagination. The white fur cloak accentuated her pale complexion, and for once she left her gorgeous platinum hair loose. Her hair hung in loose curls around her shoulders, glistening in the moonlight. Picking my staff up from the floor, I pushed the window open again. A cool breeze swirled in, sending a brief shiver through Elsa's body. Hopping up on the windowsill, I held my hand out for her.
"Would you accompany me tonight, Your Majesty?"
She smiled up at me and placed her hand gently in mine. "Of course."
I pulled her up and the two of us sat on my staff. I wrapped one arm around her waist and off we flew. She clung to my hoodie at first, but soon relaxed as she adjusted to the feeling of flight. We soared high into the sky together. Far below us was the palace and the surrounding town. Arendelle seemed to glow as the first light of the sunrise peeked over the mountains. The fjord glistened, reflecting the soft orange and yellow hues of the sunrise, casting a warm glow on the buildings down below. Elsa leaned into me, resting her head on my shoulder.
"It's beautiful," she whispered.
I gently ran my fingers through her soft hair. She turned to look at me, her eyes reflecting the sunrise.
"Not as beautiful as you are."
Her eyes closed as I leaned in closer. Our lips met and I could feel a cool rush when we kissed. With my other hand I stroked her cheek lovingly. She leaned in closer, pressing her body close to mine. As our lips parted, she gazed up at me, breathless.
"I wish we could be like this forever."
I rested my forehead against hers. "I know. But let's just make the most of what time we have."
She wrapped her arms around me and hugged me tightly. "I love you."
I kissed the top of her head. "I love you too."
