Right, before I start, some of you asked me about Nico and Joy. I will be totally honest with you, I completely forgot. When I wrote the last chapter, I could barely see straight, let alone think straight, and I just wanted to add a bit of Solangelo because I hadn't done that before and really wanted to. Nico and Joy completely slipped my mind and I'm REALLY sorry for any confusion. Because I can't think of a reason, Nico and Joy can be an AU-ish type deal or you can ignore the Solangelo bit.
To guest- Thank you! :D And as for the rest, as above :P
To Awesome as Annabeth- Vicious child! But yeah, it's fun writing bits where someone- Lou, Piper, Annabeth, etc.- try to kill Leo. I don't think I listen to them, but I have heard of them. Any song recommendations?
Sorry for not updating this one recently, I was working on my HTTYD fic rewrite :3
Louisa was on a roll today. Half an hour after breakfast, three people- Clarisse included- were in the infirmary. In Capture-the-flag, she had attacked half her own team. In training, she had flooded the arena. By lunch time, a heavy storm was brewing and she was sitting in the main room in the Big House, arms folded firmly across her chest, one leg over the other and jiggling her foot through temper and ADHD, glaring at Chiron.
"Louisa." He said calmly, completely unaffected by her furious scowl. "What's going on?" She didn't answer, her eyes travelling about the room. Chiron figured she was searching for some sort of weapon, seeing as Leo had confiscated her watch and concealed knives. "Is this because people keep asking you questions? About you, Leo and the baby?" He clarified. She looked back at him. "They're just curious. I must admit, even I thought you'd never settle down with anyone. Not because you weren't capable of such a thing, but through sheer stubborn will." He added quickly as her irritability shot up.
"I don't have ta explain myself ta anyone." She growled.
"Yes, I know that. We just want to know what changed your mind, that's all."
"Leo." She replied bluntly, casting her gaze about again in case something had materialised from no-one to clonk her mentor about the head. "Can I go now?"
"No." Chiron regarded his coffee for a moment and decided he needed a refill. "Do you care for a drink?" She clenched her jaw stubbornly. "Well, I'll be back in a minute. You're not to go anywhere, Louisa, we need to talk. You've only been back ten hours and already put eleven people in the infirmary. And that arena won't clear up for a while either." He glanced out the window as he spoke, eyeing the storm warily. He knew it wasn't her fault- this happened sometimes when she was mightily ticked out.
He was amazed when he returned to see that she was still there. She hadn't moved from her spot, but was now sullenly examining the stained coffee table rather than him. He had brought through a glass of water for her, but she ignored it. The second he set it on the table, the water started to bubble feverishly, another side effect of her anger. "Do you not want people to know about you and Leo?" He asked, as though there had never been a pause in the mostly one-sided conversation. "I can understand this romance thing is not your strong point; do you feel uncomfortable talking about it?" Chiron watched her carefully. The stubborn set to her jaw remained, those sea green orbs burning with a rage he had not seen for quite some time.
"It ain't their business."
"Understandable. Have you ever thought what Leo might want though? He may want to talk about this to someone." Water sloshed over the side of the glass, staining The Daily Olympus. Chiron calmly picked it up and shook what water he could from it, but the ink was already running. "But of course, he knows not to say anything you're not comfortable with others knowing. Tell me, when did you realise your feelings for Leo had changed?"
"What's it to you?"
"I'm just curious. I want to know how he got past your stubborn streak. Even for a demigod, you are exceedingly obstinate." Louisa said nothing.
"Valdez charm." She eventually muttered. Chiron looked amused. He knew she wasn't going to go into details and offering Leo's favourite excuse would keep some curiosity at bay. Because, effectively, it had been the Valdez charm. Not that she'd admit it- Leo's ego didn't need inflating.
"You and Percy aren't talking."
"No."
"Because you didn't tell him?"
"Yes."
"Does it bother you?"
"No."
"Why not?" She shrugged. "I'm sure it does bother you. That's part of the reason you were angry to begin with."
"I ain't gotta tell him everythin'."
"No, but it is nice to know the important things." She scowled. It seemed Percy had argued that point too. "Where is Leo?"
"Lookin' after Elsie."
"Are you managing alright with her?"
"Guess so."
"No second thoughts?" The glass exploded and thunder rattled the window panes. "Of course not." Chiron concluded, inspecting the cold water splashes against his chest. A knock on the door stopped him from talking again. "Come in."
It was Leo.
"Hello." He smiled at his wife, whose expression softened a fraction. Elsie was shifting about in jerky-baby movements in the sling, burrowed against her father's chest.
Leo stood in the doorway for a minute, mulling over his thoughts. Louisa watched him expectantly, her anger tipping away into bemusement. "I've forgotten what I wanted to tell you." He finally declared.
"Clever." He grinned.
"I know right?" Elsie sneezed. "Gesundheit, hija." He said, patting her gently on the back. "No, I still can't remember." He looked at Chiron. "Everything OK?" Chiron turned to Louisa and repeated the question.
Poseidon's daughter regarded them both, her eyes alone moving.
"Fine."
Louisa was on kitchen duty for two weeks and had to help clear up the attic a bit- a valiant task, considering all the demigod memorabilia up there- for her placing eleven demigods in the infirmary. Her storm lasted a fair few days until people cottoned onto the fact that there was no pointing nagging at her- she'd talk, if she wanted to, in her own time.
Leo was the only one who seemed blasé to the mood in Camp. Quite a few of the cabins were plotting revenge for Louisa's attack on some of their cabin mates; the Apollo cabin were furious and anxious to get a rematch for Capture-the-Flag, seeing as Louisa had almost drowned half the team; the Ares cabin were not as subtle and kept trying to ambush her. This put quite a few more people in the infirmary and lengthened Louisa's kitchen sentence, but Leo didn't seem at all worried. Chiron had banned him from helping out in the kitchen or the attic, but Leo patiently sat outside with Elsie until his wife appeared.
"You know," He said as they were walking along the beach, "I think I've upset a few of the girls here."
"Oh really now?" Louisa said, peering into the car seat to check Elsie was still asleep. She and Leo were carrying the tot together seeing as- strangely- babies got heavier the longer you held them. That happened with everything, but babies were only diddy. Leo hadn't really clocked on to the fact that that applied to them too until just recently.
"Yeah, they seem so jealous. Bet they wished they'd accepted Team Leo sooner." Louisa gave him a side-long look. "Not that Team Leo really matters as much now." Leo added hastily. "It's Team…" He thought for a moment. "Team Leoisa now." He smiled, problem solved. Louisa just nodded and they reached their spot on the beach. The forest had kind of crept out at this point and offered a secluded bit of beach. "You alright?"
"Mm…"
"You just miss me." Leo translated. She rolled her eyes; he pretended not to notice. "You stick with me, chica, and then you wouldn't get longer time in the kitchens."
"Yeah, that'll work."
"It will!" Leo insisted merrily. "You're entitled to beat me up without consequences, us being married and all. Occupational hazard." He decided. "Yes, that's it. Occupational hazard on my part."
"Ya make it sound like I'm evil."
"You are evil. But you're lovely too! Well, no, you hate being called 'lovely', but you can be nice and- and I'm really digging myself a hole, aren't I?" She smirked. "Huh. I didn't pick you as Mrs. McShizzle for nothing, chica."
"Oh, suuure. Bet ya waited for me 'n' everythin'."
"Well… what can I say? I am a bit of a ladies' man."
"Don't kid yaself." Leo gaped at her and mocked hurt feelings, putting his hand on his heart and everything. She snorted with laughter and reached over to hit him. "Idiot."
"Thank you." In response, she had water soak his jeans. "Thank you." Leo repeated nonchalantly. Another wave, but this time, Elsie got caught. She and her seat was gently carried out by the water and floated merrily metres from land. Louisa looked at Leo pointedly, quite pleased with herself. "If she drowns, I'll be a very upset Valdez."
"Like I'm gonna let her drown, stupid." She poked him in the leg and he was instantly dry.
"So this is my new granddaughter."
"Hey Dad." Leo glanced up- was Poseidon going to be angry with him like Percy had been?- but the god seemed happy to see him.
"Hello sir." Louisa took Leo by the hand and pulled him into the water. Poseidon had already freed Elsie from her straps and blankets and was smiling down at her.
"Hello." Poseidon returned. "Let's hope this one will take after me, eh?" A column of fire erupted to life on the beach and Hephaestus stood there, hesitantly, but curious too.
"Why's she gotta take after yeh?" He asked. "Ain't nothin' wrong with workman's blood."
"I never said there was." Poseidon replied calmly. "I favour my own domain above others'; we all do it, Hephaestus, don't deny it." The blacksmith grunted in agreement. "Care to greet your granddaughter?" Poseidon prompted.
"Ooh, no, not for me. Babies tend ta cry when they see me."
"Well, she's already seen Leo- can't get worse than that."
"I thought you loved me!" Louisa grinned viciously. Leo pretended to sulk until she slugged him in the arm.
Unbeknownst to them, the two gods shared knowing, amused smiles.
"Yes," Poseidon decided, passing Elsie to her mother, "she will do nicely. Mind though, she may have your tendencies, Louisa."
"Tendencies?" Louisa repeated. "For what?"
"As if you don't know." Leo said quietly. Next thing he knew, he was underwater, upside-down. It took him a little longer than it should have to right himself; when he did, he saw he was another ten metres out. Louisa looked triumphant, Poseidon was laughing and Hephaestus was torn between annoyance at the attack on his son and amusement for the exact same reason. "My point exactly!" Leo called, holding his breath as another wave pushed him under.
She's going to be the death of me, he thought as he resurfaced for the second time. Then he smiled. Strangely, that was OK with him.
