Dar'Jo Started throwing orders around. "Sharia, go get a guildmate that has good stamina to take that scouting assignment."

Sharia nodded.

"Ly'ro. You and your... companions are dismissed."

"Actually..." I interjected his order. "Walks-in-Shadows?"

"What?" He asked.

"Karliah left me a note on the back of her old journal." I said, while retrieving her journal from my backpack. "Read the last page of journal for me."

Shadows took the journal and read the last page. He was surprised reading it. "Wow. She only knew you for roughly ten days, and she would entrust all she left to you?"

I shrugged. "Seems like it."

He read the message over a second time. "Well, I recognize Karliah's handwriting, this is definitely real." He looked at Dar'Jo. "Do what you need to by yourself for moment, I need to take Ly'ro somewhere." He then looked back at me. "Are you comfortable with bringing your friends with you to uncover Karliah's inheritance?"

I nodded confidently.

"Very well. Follow me."

We left the Flagon and returned to the overworld of Riften to move to a large house, near the entrance gate to Riften. There was a double door in front of us by time we stopped walking. Walks-in-Shadows looked at the door, and turned around. He knocked on the door casually, and after a few moments, the door slowly creaked open, and an unexpected sight was seen; Someone, I was unsure who it was, completely dressed in nightingale garbs, opened the door slowly. He said nothing, but only looked at Walks-in-Shadows and no one else. Walks-in-Shadows waved at us to come in the house. We all acknowledged him and did so.

We entered the house; It was quite the sight. Right before us was a long table, blanketed with fine silk cloth. Drawers and cupboards were all set with organized and jeweled cups and plates, some for actually eating on, and some simply for show. The walls were decorated with various portraits of things, along with black banners marked with the nightingale symbol. It was a shocking sight to be seen in a place like Riften.

"What is this place?" I asked.

"Riftweald Manor. It's your new home."

The nightingale spoke, with a very odd voice. It was hard to explain, but his voice sounded ethereal. He said, "Wipe your feet, young ones. Karliah doesn't like it when her floor gets dirty."

"Ramelio, I have terrible news." Walks-in-Shadows said.

"I told you not to call me by that name, Shadows." The nightingale replied. "Now what is so important that you come here without Karliah being here?"

"Karliah's dead."

The nightingale stood silently for a moment. "Oh... Are you sure? Was it the White Knight?"

"Yes, that's what this khajiit said. Karliah left a note before she died, saying she's leaving all she owns to this boy."

He looked at me, then looked back at Shadows. "This boy? Everything? Even her treasury?"

"Yes. Treat and serve him as if he were Karliah."

"...Very well. If what you say is true, I shall give him the same treatment as Her." He looked to me, and gave a bow. "Greetings, new master."

Since his attention was set to me, my first question was the most predictable. "Who are you?" I asked.

"The question is not who I am, but what I am."

I raised a brow. "Are you not... human?"

"Yes, and no. You haven't noticed any oddities about me?"

Si'ta pointed it out. "There definitely is something odd about this nightingale. His voice echoes, and He sometimes seems... invisible. As in, transparent."

"Allow me to explain myself, Youths. I am a nightingale apparition. A ghost, if you will."

I was surprised. "But... I thought when nightingales die, their souls are sent to Nocturnal's realm."

"You're correct, they are. However, Karliah struck a deal with Nocturnal. I was killed by the White Knight, and my soul wasn't completely bound to Nocturnal's realm by then, so she quickly created an Ebon Indenture to use my soul for whatever she wanted and in turn, something I don't quite remember. Whatever it was, it matters not. What does matter is that I am now, for eternity, the guardian and housecleaner for this manor. You may call me Raven, for my mortal name matters no longer."

Walks-in-shadows interrupted his words. "Ramelio, people still remember who you are in the Flagon, It's not like you're a complete fossil like me and the others."

"As I said, my mortality doesn't matter, what matters is who I serve and protect."

Shadows sighed and shook his head.

"So, you're a ghost, subjugated to clean and protect this house?" Hildir asked.

"Subjugated is not the correct word, Obligated is. Now, what is your name, Young khajiit?"

"Ly'ro."

"Very well. Hail Master Ly'ro, fellow nightingale." He kneeled before me.

"How did you know..."

"I can sense it within your soul. You belong to Nocturnal. Now, will these females be residing here as well? Because there's only one room to sleep in in this manor."

"Oh, um..."

"We can just sleep in the Canal house, Ly'ro."

"Well, if you say so."

Walks-in-Shadows crossed his arms, with worry. "I suppose my presence is no longer needed here. Ramel- I mean, Raven will give you a brief tour of the house and then show you the treasury. I'll be returning to the Flagon to assist Dar'Jo now." He left without another word, closing the door behind him as he left the house.

The apparition, Raven, stood up in a very servile manner, as if he were some sort of butler. "Since this is your first time, I shall give you a tour of the mansion. Follow me."

We took a brief tour of the mansion. It was a great, and large place, a thousand times better than the canalhouse. I'd never guess I would ever own such a luxurious adobe, at least, not at my current age. The mansion had many different rooms, a master bedroom with a brazier, a bathroom with, of course, functional plumbing, a small library with filled bookshelves inside, a kitchen with a stove, cooking pot, and something that looked like an alchemy table, an outside deck with a reclining chair and a birdcage, which was odd, since there were no birds to be seen any room, many different types of furniture decorated in various golden ship models, gold pitchers, various elvish weaponry in display cases, and more.

"Wow... this place is amazing." I was in awe.

"Indeed. This house was originally property of the guildmaster before Dar'Jo Si'tani. After He was Slain, Karliah took ownership of this house."

"I see. What an extraordinary place. I... I can't believe I own a place like this. I think I want to Lie down on that bed right now."

"We aren't finished yet, Master Ly'ro."

"There's still something else?" At that point, I felt extremely spoiled. "I... don't even think I can accept anything else at this point. This is way too much."

"You must take ownership of Miss Karliah's treasures, Master Ly'ro. If not you, then who?"

When he said that, I began to think of it as a responsibility rather than a gift. I changed my tune quickly, and developed a more serious look. "I... I understand."

"Your friends must leave now, however. This is strictly secret."

I turned around and looked at Hildir and Si'ta. "Sorry, girls."

Si'ta crossed her arms, twitching her ears. "You needn't worry, this one was growing jealous anyway."

Hildir laughed at Si'ta's comment. "We'll be fine, I'll take Si'ta to the Canalhouse, so we can get some sleep." She waved me goodnight and left with Si'ta after that.

I waved back, then focused my attention back to my housecarl. He waved at me to follow him to a specific area, a cabinet near a door that we passed by already. My curiosity caused me to ask, "So Raven, does this mean you're my... servant?"

He nodded. "I am here to clean, cook, pay your taxes, organize your library, documents, and more. So Yes, Master Ly'ro; I thought I explained this to you already."

"Oh right... So, what haven't I seen already?"

He pointed at the cabinet next to the door. "Open the cabinet."

I nodded at him and opened the cabinet. There was nothing inside, it was empty. I looked back at Raven with a confused look.

"The cabinet isn't suspicious to you?"

I looked back at the cabinet, then put my hands inside it. I knocked on it and discovered; It was hollow, as if there something beyond the wood I tapped. I began sliding my hands around the cabinet, exploring it's interior to find a switch, secretly placed on the left side of the inside of the cabinet, hidden from sight. I pressed the switch to hear a satisfying clicking noise, and suddenly, the interior wood from the cabinet slid to the right, revealing a new passage. Without a second thought, I entered the passage, which led to a staircase. I took that staircase down to find another room, with an abnormal hole, leading to yet another passage.

"This is the basement." Raven said. "Go through the passage ahead, Ly'ro."

I nodded and continued through the passage. There were torch sconces ahead, however they weren't lit, making it difficult for me to see, but Raven did something unexpected, and somewhat scary; With the snap of his fingers, the torches were lit, igniting with gloomy, blue flames. The path ahead, being filled with dark blue light felt very ominous, and creepy. I slowly traveled down the passage, ignoring the clutter of dusty and webbed wooden crates, to find a single room, lit by more blue lights. The room contained a single desk table with a chair and a tremendous urn next to it. The wall faced near the desk had a huge map of all Skyrim. The large map had a bunch of small knives stuck to it. I got closer to the map and inspected it closely; I discovered the knives on the map were all stuck in places that we traveled during my nightingale training. I concluded that this is were Karliah planned everything out for me before we traveled together.

"Look to your right, Master Ly'ro."

I did as he said and saw something astonishing; The wall to the right of me was covered in safes, Many of them. Four rows of four safes were embedded into the wall. I walked towards them and stared. "What are inside these?" I asked, with amazement.

"Gold ingots, Diamonds, Saphires, Rubies, Various Jewelries, the list goes on." Also, have you noticed that large urn next to the desk?"

"Yes."

"That urn contains roughly... Twenty thousand septims."

I stared at him blankly, and there was silence.

"Yes it is quite impressive. That's Karliah's reserve supply. She uses it for when she needs to 'convince' people to do as she desires."

I muttered. "So this is Karliah's treasury..."

"Indeed; You now bear it."

There was a brief silence; I was still astonished by what I was given. I slowly murmured, "I wish I could thank Karliah for all this."

"Perhaps slaying the White Knight will be thanks enough."

I nodded at Raven with a serious look. "You're absolutely right, Raven. I cant afford to lose now... no pun intended."

"Indeed."

"So, I'm going to get some sleep now. I need it badly."

"Very well, Master Ly'ro. I will reside in the bird's cage until I do my weekly clean-up. Just call me if you need me."

I raised a brow. "Wait, birds ca-"

A swirling orb of darkness suddenly erupted from his body, engulfing his body for a few seconds. After that, the orb dissipated, and what was visible was a bird, a raven.

I stared blankly at what I saw.

The raven flew away, out of sight. I supposed that's what he meant when he said he'd be in the birdcage. After being surprised by that unexpected moment, I went to the master bedroom and slept.
