Chapter 35: Mistake.

Akane's POV

"I'm pregnant," I blurted out.

Zero stood there in shock, his eyes wide, "Really?"

I shouldn't have blurted it out like that... I feel like such an idiot...

"Y-Yes," I answered meekly.

"I don't know what to say," he said quietly.

Does this mean that he doesn't want it?

At that moment, he pulled me into a strong embrace, "I'm so happy," he whispered.

"Y-You are," I asked, astonished by his sudden actions.

"Of course," he huffed, "Why wouldn't I be happy? I'm starting a family with the one person I love in this world."

My eyes lit up and I smiled brightly as I returned the hug, "I'm so glad... I was scared at first... I didn't know how to tell you or what to even think of it all..."

He smiled warmly, "Then don't think about it, just smile." With that, he pressed his lips gently against mine.

It's been five months since Zero and I found out that I was pregnant, and my stomach has already grown a substantial amount.

"It's embarrassing when I have to walk around looking like this," I mumbled.

Zero smirked as he looked down at me, "Why is that?"

I glared at him, "Because I'm fat!"

"You're not fat," he said, "It's just a baby bump."

"That doesn't change the fact that I look fat," I huffed.

He sighed, "Akane, try to calm down a little bit. Yelling like that isn't going to be any good for her, you know."

That's right. A few weeks ago, we went to the hospital to get an ultrasound, and found out that the baby was a girl. We still haven't thought of a name yet for her, though.

I sighed heavily as well, "Sorry... I can't help it..."

He kissed me on the cheek, "I know you're not doing it on purpose." He stood up, "It's getting late. I'm going to go back to my dorm... Get some rest, I'll see you in the morning."

I pouted my lip and watched as he left the room, "Goodnight..."

I don't wanna sleep though. I'm not even tired...

I grabbed on to the table beside me for support as I stood up from the bed. I walked out of my room and down the hallway.

"Akane," Kaname said, stopping me in my tracks.

I turned around and looked at him, "Yes?"

"Where are you going," he asked.

I put on a false smile, "I was going to go get some fresh air."

He rose a brow as he looked at me intently, "You shouldn't overexert yourself."

I shook my head, "I'm not overexerting myself... I just want to walk around for a while."

"Would you like me to come with you," he asked.

I shook my head once more, "No thanks, I'll be fine."

He nodded slightly, "Very well. Just... be careful, alright?"

I smiled, "Of course." After I said that, I walked down the stairs and out of the dormitory. I sighed heavily as I walked around the campus.

This whole 'pregnant' thing is really scary... Five months have already passed, but it still seems so new to me...

I stopped walking as I looked down at my stomach and smiled, "Just a few more months and I'll get to meet you. Are you excited?"

At that moment, I heard Yuuki's voice, "But you've never shown any interest in her before."

I looked in the direction that her voice was coming from, and saw her and Zero together.

Is she talking about me?

Zero sighed, "I know, but-"

She interrupted him, "What's so good about her!?" Immediately after she said that, she gasped, "I-I'm sorry, Zero! I didn't mean that... I-I should go back to my dorm," she said as she started walking away.

Zero grabbed her hand, stopping her from walking away. "Yuuki it's fine," he said solemnly, "I know you didn't mean it."

It looked like tears were starting to form in Yuuki's eyes, "Zero," she said quietly.

As soon as she said that, they started to lean closer to each other, and just as they were about to kiss, I almost lost my balance, resulting in me stepping on a twig.

They both shot their heads in my direction and stared at me wide-eyed.

Tears started to fall from my eyes as I quickly turned around and ran back towards the Moon Dormitory.

What the hell was that? It looked like they were about to kiss... Why the hell were they both outside together this late at night? There wasn't any classes, so I know they weren't patrolling, plus Zero told me he was going back to his dorm...

"Akane," Zero shouted as he ran after me.

I quickly walked up the stairs and past Kaname.

He noticed the tears that were streaming down my face, "Akane, what's wrong?"

I simply wiped my tears as I briskly walked past him and into my room. The moment I walked into my room, I locked the door.

Zero was now knocking on my door and trying to open it, "Akane, let me in."

"Why," I asked as I leaned against the wall.

"Because, it wasn't what it looked like," he said sternly.

I then unlocked the door and opened it. I stared directly at him as I rose a brow, "It wasn't what it looked like," I repeated, sarcastically.

He shook his head and sighed, "No, it wasn't."

"It looked like you were about to kiss her," I scoffed, "And that's exactly what it was!"

He furrowed his brows, "It was a mistake! You know I wouldn't actually kiss another girl!"

I tilted my head, "Really? Because that's not what I saw. I saw you lean forward. Not her. You," I huffed as tears continued to flow down my face.

He wiped away one of my tears then narrowed his eyes at me, "What ever happened to that girl with the distinct personality who could easily handle any situation?"

My voice was no louder than a whisper, "She broke." After I said that, I shut the door and locked it once again.

Zero's voice was muffled by the door, "I don't want to argue anymore." With that, the sound of his footsteps faded away.

I put my back against the door, and slowly sunk down to the floor. I hugged my knees tightly as tears freely fell from my eyes, "You've always liked Yuuki, haven't you?"
