Rizzoli & Isles:

Chapter 36

"Mr. Mom"

A/N: First of all, thanks for sticking by me. (Those of you who stuck around.) I don't know, the reactions I got from the last reposted chapter, shocked me. And kind of threw me for a loop there. I mean, it was literally 50/50 on the reposted chapter. I mean, some of you say it's fine the way it is, meanwhile others say they still read Maura's secretly in love with Ian. So I don't know what to do about the previous chapter. But for now, It's staying up as is. I don't want to delay this story anymore, then it already is.

But I do want to point this out, for those still in doubt, as I have said in some of the previous chapters before, This is, and will remain, a Rizzles ONLY story. And yes, Jane and Maura are going to have rough times here and there, they're going to have conflict, and fights, just like all couples have along the way in their relationship. But, this fic will still be a Rizzles end game. Thank you for your time.

Now, on with the fluff...

DOCTOR'S OFFICE – EXAM ROOM – DAY

Jane's sitting on an examination table in her wife-beater and jeans. Jane's personal doctor, DR. SPENCER, an older man, approaching 60, is attending Jane's left shoulder. He has his hands on both of her shoulders, trying to feel for how the two respond to movement.

DOCTOR SPENCER: "Can you raise your arms to the side?"

Jane does, effortlessly.

DOCTOR SPENCER: "Good. And can you slide your arms towards the front, towards me?"

Jane does. Kind of feeling like Frankenstein's monster, with her arms stretched out like that.

Dr. Spencer removes his hands from her shoulders, and picks up her chart nearby.

DOCTOR SPENCER: "Good. Any pain? Numbness? Feel any tingling from your fingers?"

Jane lowers her arms.

JANE: (Shakes her head) "No. I think I'm all good."

Jane says with an optimistic smile.

JANE: (Impatient) "So, when can I go back to work?"

Dr. Spencer takes a glimpse at Jane's chart in his hands.

DOCTOR SPENCER: "Are you doing any of the strengthening, and mobility exercises?"

JANE: "Yeah. Every day."

DOCTOR SPENCER: "For how long?"

JANE: (Thinks) "Uh… I don't know. About 10 minutes."

DOCTOR SPENCER: (Looks up at Jane) "No. I mean, how long ago did you first start doing the exercises?"

JANE: "Oh. Uh. About a week ago."

DOCTOR SPENCER: "And you're not experiencing any pain and discomfort doing them?"

She was having some discomfort and soreness when performing some of the exercises. But, she was determined to push through it, and get her shoulder back into shape, and herself back to work ASAP.

The Doc can see his answer in Jane's facial expressions.

DOCTOR SPENCER: (Nods) "I'll take that as a yes. It's okay. It's normal at this point in the healing process, to experience some pain and difficulty. Especially since your arm has been immobile up until this point. So, don't get discouraged about it."

He sees Jane's sad expression on her face.

DOCTOR SPENCER: "It's a process, Jane. It's not something that's going to be fixed overnight, or over the weekend. No matter how hard you work at it."

JANE: "So, when can I go back to work?"

DOCTOR SPENCER: "I think it'd be best to continue with the exercises that were given to you. Just take it easy with them, I don't want you injuring yourself more. And we'll reevaluate your progress in two weeks."

JANE: (Shocked) "Two more weeks!?"

Doctor Spencer looks on surprised by Jane's outburst.

JANE: (Cont.) "But, I was told in 3 weeks, I should be fine. And I could go back to work. It's already been a month now; and now, I have to wait another 2 more weeks?"

DOCTOR SPENCER: "In general, dislocated shoulders fully heal within 4 to 12 weeks. There are other implications that could account for your healing time. Like I said Jane, it's a process. It can't be rushed. And everybody heals at different rates. So, don't get discouraged if it takes longer. I want that joint to heal nicely; and settle in." [He puts a comforting hand on her shoulder] "You'll get there Jane. Just relax, and take it easy. Alright?"

Jane just sits there, not liking the news.

Dr. Spencer goes back to writing something on her medical chart.

DOCTOR SPENCER: "So, do you have any questions or concerns about your treatment?"

JANE: "Yeah." [He looks up at her] "When can I go back to work?"

Dr. Spencer sighs at Jane. Seeing that his words have no effect on her.

IN JANE'S CAR – DAY

Jane drives in her new leased car. She had to turn in her unmarked car, since she was put on work leave following her shoulder injury.

She reaches the front of James' school. The street is packed with parked cars, parallel parked along the curb. She curses, as she cruises down the street, looking for a parking space. Which she can't find on the block, so she parks a block away.

She turns her car off, and waits for school to be out. She sits back, and continues looking off disappointingly. Obviously still feeling the effects of the 'bad' news from her doctor, that she's going to be out for another 2 weeks.

After a short while, the last bell rings out throughout the school.

Jane perks up, as she spots a crowd of kids disburse onto the street and sidewalks. She looks out her windshield, trying to spot James.

She spots him walking down the sidewalk, looking around, wondering where she's parked at.

When James looks her direction, she flashes her headlights at him. He quickly notices, and starts running down the block towards her car, excitingly.

James opens the passenger door, and happily get in. Closing the door behind him.

JANE: "Hey, Buddy."

JAMES: (As he settles in) "Hey."

Jane starts up the car, and pulls out onto the street.

JANE: "Did you have a good day today?"

JAMES: (Still happy) "Yeah. It was okay."

JANE: "Good."

JAMES: "So, how was your day?"

Jane shoots a surprised look at James. She was surprised to see him take an interest in her day.

JANE: "Uh. It was great. A bit boring, you know. But, other than that, it was good."

JAMES: "What did the doctor say about your shoulder?"

JANE: "He said… Um… It might take a little bit longer to fully heal. But, that everything looks good."

Jane happily nods at him. Not wanting him to worry about it.

JAMES: "Do you have to go back to work?"

JANE: "Not for a while, no."

James nods along, as he continues looking on. Trying to hide his happiness that Jane wasn't going back to work any time soon.

JANE: "So, what do you feel like having for dinner? Mom says we can have out tonight."

JAMES: "I don't know."

JANE: "Well, I feel like having Chinese. Is that okay with you?"

JAMES: (Thinks it over) "Yeah. Can we get ribs too?"

JANE: (Smiles at him) "Yeah. Of course. I'll get you a side order of spare ribs."

James smiles.

MAURA'S HOUSE – LIVING ROOM – DUSK

Jane has set the coffee table in the middle of the living room, in front of the fireplace. There's cartons of take-out Chinese food sprawled on the table. James and Jane are seated on the ground opposite from each other.

Maura enters; she's straightening her lounge clothes as she sits down on a pillow next to Jane on the ground.

MAURA: "Ah. That's better."

JANE: "Comfortable?"

Maura nods with a "yes," as she reaches for a food carton.

JAMES: "Why are we eating on the floor?"

Jane hands a food carton to Maura. To which, Maura pours some of its contents onto her plate.

JANE: "I, uh, thought it'd be fun. You know, try something different. You know, a nice family dinner in front of the fireplace. You don't like it?"

James just shrugs. Not feeling either way about it.

Maura than passes the food carton back to Jane. Who then holds it out to James.

JANE: "Chicken Chow Mein?"

James shakes his head no at her. He's satisfied with his plate of spare ribs, fried rice, and an egg roll.

MAURA: (To Jane) "He doesn't like Chow Mein."

Jane looks on surprised by this.

JANE: "You don't? Man, that's the best part."

James just smiles as he shrugs his shoulders.

Jane sets the food carton down on the table. They now settle in, and begin eating. Both Jane and Maura eat with chopsticks, while James eats with a fork.

MAURA: (To Jane) "So, what did the doctor say?"

James looks up, seriously. Wanting to know as well. He felt that Jane wasn't telling him the whole truth.

Jane wipes her mouth with a napkin. Swallowing her food, before speaking.

JANE: "Well, you know how doctors are."

Maura continues looking at Jane, nodding at her, wanting an answer.

JANE: (Finally gives in) "2 more weeks."

MAURA: "2 more weeks?"

JANE: (Takes a drink from her Cola) "Yep. 2 more weeks off work. He says I'm healing along nicely. But, I should come back in, in 2 weeks for another checkup. He says it's going to take time to fully heal, and I shouldn't be discouraged by the timeline he set for me. You know, blah, blah, blah."

Maura nods. Agreeing with her doctor.

MAURA: "I agree. A dislocated shoulder is a very delicate injury. It's not like a broken bone, which can be seen and set by sight. Your shoulder could be seen as perfectly healed, but it still has the potential to be dislodged or dislocated again without warning. Your doctor just wants to make sure, your shoulder socket stays put, and doesn't set loosely, and pop out again."

Jane nods. Seeing the bigger picture. She just hated being put on leave from work.

JANE: "Yeah. I just wish I could go back to work, you know. Even if it's work I hate right now. But, at least I'm doing something. Than sitting around on my ass, doing nothing."

MAURA: "You want something to do?"

JANE: "Uh. No, that's okay. I'm sure I can find something to do."

They all chuckle. Knowing that Jane hates doing chores.

MAURA'S BEDROOM – NIGHT

Jane and Maura are making out in an Armchair, in the dime light. They're both naked. Maura's straddling Jane's lap, facing her.

Maura smiles lovingly at Jane, as she caresses Jane's cheek. She leans in, and gently touches her lips to Jane's. She lingers there for only a moment, before pulling away.

Their eyes meet. Sharing a loving moment together. Before, Jane reaches up with her left hand, gently guiding Maura's head down for another kiss. Letting their lips melt together. Jane's tongue gently flicks against Maura's, begging for entry. Maura opens her mouth, allowing entry. Their tongues meet, sending shivers down their spines. Maura could feel herself becoming wetter, and Jane felt her erect penis spasm against Maura's lower abdomen. Maura could feel Jane's pre-cum ooze out of tip of her cock, against her skin. Which causes Maura to pull away from Jane's lips, and moan.

JANE: (Pouting) "Noooo."

Jane said, not wanting the kiss to end.

Maura runs her hand through Jane's hair; grinning seductively.

MAURA: "Don't worry." [Another kiss] "We're just getting started."

As Jane moved her hand down Maura's side, her right hand slowly drifted to Maura's breast. She lingered there, her hand moving around it, massaging it. Which causes Maura to moan, and arch her back in pleasure, pushing her breast further out towards Jane. Jane couldn't stand it anymore, she had to put her mouth on it.

Jane leaned over, her lips capturing Maura's awaiting hard nipple. First, she only kissed it. Then she stuck her tongue out, circling the nipple with her tongue; working her magic. Until she finally closed her mouth over the already hard nipple. She sucks at it greedily, gently biting it, as she continued massaging it in her hand.

Maura shivered in ecstasy, feeling like she's losing control. She couldn't help, but, grind up against Jane's erect throbbing penis. This causes Jane, to briefly let go of Maura's nipple, and groan against her breast, as she pushes her cock forward, causing Maura's wet pussy to rub against the underside of her penis. This movement, causes both of them to moan and groan in pleasure.

Jane leans up, pulling Maura back down for a more forceful kiss. She parted from Maura's lips, and moved Maura's hair back over her shoulders, so she could kiss her neck, while still massaging her breast. Her other arm reached around, grabbing Maura's ass, trying to pull her body closer to hers. Her tongue danced across Maura's neck, sucking, and leaving little love bits along the way.

All of this was becoming too much for Maura. As Jane continued her neck assault on her, Maura reached down between them, and felt Jane's hardness with her hand, making Jane grind up against her again.

Maura took a hold of Jane's wet cock, rubbing her hand up and down the shaft, smearing her pre-cum over the length of it.

Jane begins to moan and pant with pleasure against Maura's neck. She closes her eyes as she enjoys the movements of Maura's hand on her, her hips thrust up and down with the motions of Maura's hand.

JANE: (Moans out) "Maura… Imma… I'm gonna…"

Jane moans out, feeling her orgasm is not far away.

MAURA: (Against Jane's ear) "Shhhh. Not yet."

Maura lets go of Jane's shaft, as she leans back, and slowly rises off Jane's lap, onto her knees.

Jane groans in protest. But soon comes to, when she sees that Maura's not done.

Maura than moves forward, repositioning her smooth pussy over the tip of Jane's cock. She reaches down, guiding Jane's penis up, pressing it on the outside of her slick pussy lips.

JANE: "Uh… What about the condom?"

Jane stutters out. Maura looks at Jane seductively.

MAURA: "Do you really wanna wear a condom right now?"

Maura continues rubbing the head of Jane's penis along the inside of her pussy lips, teasingly. Jane can't think right now. Her brain feels like mush right now. She just leans back against the armchair, closing her eyes, and shaking her head no.

That's when Maura lowers herself fully down onto Jane's cock. They both gasp.

JANE: (Through clinched teeth) "Oooohhh. Shit."

MAURA: (Moans out) "Oh, Jane."

Maura, keeping her eyes on Jane, begins to start moving on top of Jane. She has her left hand on Jane's shoulder, while clamping the top of the armchair beside Jane's head, with her other hand (using it for leverage.)

Jane could feel the suction of Maura's pussy straining to keep her cock inside, as Maura was lifting up and down, grinding her pussy on Jane's cock. Jane removed her hand on Maura's breast, and used it to grip Maura's hip; her hands now gipped her buttocks and hips and squeezed tightly, helping Maura move on top of her, as Maura slowly increased the speed. Soon they were both moaning loudly in time with each grind. Maura's pussy was creating a tight suction, bring Jane's penis in deeper with each pump.

Jane knew she wasn't going to last long. In fact, Jane could never last long when it came to having unprotected sex; which was another reason why she preferred wearing condoms, because the barrier would make her last longer.

Meanwhile, Maura preferred to having sex with Jane without a condom, since it created a far more pleasurable sexual experience for her. The feel of her pussy lips gliding over, and along Jane's scars on her penis, created an extra pleasurable sensation for Maura. One that could not be duplicated by anything else, or anyone else.

JANE: (Panting a warning) "Maura…"

Maura knows that when Jane pants like this, it means she's about to cum.

MAURA: (Leaning in) "Cum inside me, Jane."

Jane groans her response.

Maura arched her back slightly, her grinding now reaching a fever pitch. Her eyes were closed, and her head tilted back, as Jane listens to her breathing becoming shallower, and felt her cock getting ready to burst.

She continued gripping one hand on Maura's buttocks, and places her right arm around Maura's lower back.

Jane couldn't help but thrust upward in rhythm with her, her breathing becoming more rapid. The moment was upon them.

But as the grinding and pumping is getting more erratic, Jane's penis accidentally slips out of Maura, at the time of orgasm for Jane. Maura didn't have time to correct the mishap, so she continued grinding against the underside of Jane's cock, which was now sandwiched between their bodies.

Jane didn't think twice about it, but continues thrusting upwards, gliding the underside of her cock along Maura's pussy lips, clit, and abdomen, as her cum spews out, all over, between them. She wraps her arms around Maura tightly, pulling her in as close as she could, as if trying to mold their bodies together as one, as she rides her orgasm out.

She buried her face into Maura's breasts, panting, pumping her cock upwards into their joined bodies, feeling her cum stick, and glide between them.

Maura exclaimed a long, loud cry of pleasure, as her grinding suddenly slowed. And she let out an exclamation with each spasm of her orgasm. Maura's muscles tightening and her mind blanking completely as the orgasmic rapture took over.

Jane finally recovers her orgasm as well, as she tiredly removes her face from in-between Maura's breasts, and looks up at Maura, with a depleted look, as if she just came back from running a marathon. They're both trembling and flushed. Maura puts a loving hand on Jane's flushed face, worriedly.

MAURA: "Are you okay?"

JANE: "Uh-huh." [Trying to catch her breath] "Are you?"

Maura nods. Jane smiles, as she reaches up and kisses her lips tenderly. She then hugs Maura tightly against her, as she lies her cheek against Maura's chest, listening to her heart. Maura wraps her arms around Jane's neck, keeping her in place.

After a moment,

JANE: "Your heart's beating really fast."

Maura just smiles.

MAURA: "My heart beats for you."

Jane looks up at Maura. Resting her chin on her breast.

JANE: "So does mine." [Maura smiles wider] "My heart beats stronger every second I'm with you."

Jane sees that Maura's speechless.

JANE: "What are you feeling?"

MAURA: "Wetness."

Jane chuckles, followed by Maura.

JANE: "I was having a moment."

MAURA: "I'm sorry."

They continue laughing.

Maura slowly detangles from Jane. Just enough to see the mess between them.

JANE: "I'm sorry. It slipped out when, you know."

MAURA: "It's okay. I actually greatly enjoyed rubbing against your penis."

JANE: "Yeah?"

Maura nods.

JANE: "You came from that?"

MAURA: (Runs her hand through Jane's hair) "Mm-hmm. I love the way your penis feels."

This gave Jane a boost of confidence.

JANE: (Smiles proudly) "I'm glad." [Leans in for another sweet long kiss] "Um, we need to get some tissues or something."

MAURA: (Leans back) "Just use the towel beneath you. That's why I had you sit on a towel."

JANE: "Really? Sneaky."

MAURA: "I was afraid of staining the chair."

Jane sits up, lifting herself long enough to remove the big towel beneath her. She than starts to wipe her ejaculate off herself, and Maura.

MAURA: (While still sitting on Jane's lap) "Do you wanna share a shower with me?"

Jane pauses, and looks up.

JANE: "Do you really have to ask?"

They giggle as they detangle from each other, and off the armchair, rushing to the master bathroom.

MAURA'S BEDROOM – MORNING

Jane is sitting on the edge of the still unmade bed, in her sweatpants and a 'Property of Boston Police Dept.' tee on. Doing some arm stretches for her dislocated shoulder. While Maura's trying to get ready for work.

Jane sits happily, stopping her stretching. Taking in the sight of watching Maura move around the room, getting her things together. She's enjoying these small moments like these.

Maura goes over towards the armchair they made love on the previous night, and sits down to put her high heels on. She than takes a quick look up, and sees Jane staring at her.

MAURA: "What is it?"

Jane shies away.

JANE: "Nothing. I just enjoy seeing you. You're so beautiful."

Maura's moved. She rises off the armchair. She moves to the bed, reaching out, and takes Jane hand, holding it.

MAURA: "And so are you."

Maura leans down, kissing Jane.

As Maura pulls away, Jane clings on, not wanting the moment to end.

JANE: "Nooo. Don't go."

MAURA: "I have to go to work."

JANE: "No you don't. You can call in sick. And stay home; play doctor with me."

Maura chuckles; shaking her head at Jane.

MAURA: (playfully) "I don't think so."

Jane lets her go, pouting.

JANE: "So, I guess I'm left to my own devices again."

Maura smiles at her, as she makes her way to her dresser. She looks at the dresser mirror, as she puts her earrings on.

MAURA: (Looks at Jane in the mirror reflection) "Like I said before, I could give you something to do, to help with the boredom."

Jane lays back on the bed, turning her head, staring at Maura.

JANE: "Nah. That's okay. I'll just lay here all day. Waiting patiently for your return."

Maura turns away from the dresser, and makes her way over to Jane. She sits on the bed next to Jane.

MAURA: "I hope not. Because you still have to drive James to and from school."

Jane lovingly caresses Maura's leg.

JANE: "Do you know what you do to me?"

Maura continues smiling, as she reaches down, and removes Jane's hand from her leg.

MAURA: "I have to finish getting ready. And you have to put your shoes on."

Maura leans down, kissing Jane.

MAURA: "Will you put the coffee on, my love?"

Jane nods, under Maura's spell.

MAURA: "Thank you."

Maura kisses her again. She than moves back to her walk-in closet; with Jane not taking her eyes off of her.

JANE: (To herself) "Yup, I'm whipped."

Jane reluctantly gets off the bed, and walks out of the room. She than happily saunters down the stairs… making her way into the living room.

She sees James sitting on the couch, eating cereal, watching TV.

JANE: "Hey buddy."

James turns away from the TV and looks at Jane.

JAMES: "Hey."

He goes back to eating and watching TV. Jane stops, and looks at the TV.

JANE: "What're you watching?"

JAMES: "A movie."

Jane nods an 'ah' at him. Still unsure of what's he's watching.

JANE: "Well, we're going to be leaving in about 20, okay?"

JAMES: (Engrossed with the TV) "Uh-huh."

Jane leaves, and heads towards the kitchen.

IN THE KITCHEN,

Jane enters, flicking the lights on. She moves to the counter, and starts preparing the coffee maker to brew the coffee, as Maura had asked.

She then moves over towards the fridge. She scans the contents in the fridge, looking for something to munch on, but doesn't find anything appealing. She slams the fridge door shut, as James enters.

JANE: (Surprised to see him) "Hey. Done already?"

JAMES: "Yeah."

James heads towards the sink, to wash his dishes, like the good boy he is.

Maura enters, dropping her purse on the kitchen island, spotting James.

MAURA: "Hey, honey?"

JAMES: (Turns back) "Hey."

JANE: "Coffee's brewing."

Maura goes to kiss Jane again.

MAURA: "Thank you, honey."

She makes her way to James. She walks up behind him, putting her caring hands on his shoulders, as she leans down, kissing him on the top of his head.

MAURA: "Thank you, sweetie."

She says proudly at him, for cleaning up after himself.

JAMES: "Mm-hmm."

He starts to wipe his hands dry with a clean dish towel.

Jane looks at the clock on the wall.

JANE: "Well, if you're ready, Jame. We can head out after I get changed and such, and we can beat some morning traffic."

James nods, and exits the kitchen with Jane to go finish getting ready.

Maura moves to the counter. She pulls out her favorite coffee mug from the cabinet, and waits for the coffee to finish brewing.

Jane enters after changing into her jeans and putting on her shoes.

MAURA: "Ready to go?"

JANE: "Uh, not yet. James isn't fully ready yet."

MAURA: (Moves towards Jane) "Do you want some coffee to go?"

JANE: "Nah, I'll pick up something on the way home."

Jane shrugs off.

Maura reaches around Jane's waist, pulling Jane in to her.

MAURA: (Smiling up at Jane) "Thank you."

JANE: "For what?"

MAURA: "Everything." [She brings Jane down for a tender kiss] "You're a great partner and mother."

JANE: (Smiles happily and proudly) "Mmm. So are you."

They bring their lips together again for a more heated kiss. Until…

JAMES: (Loudly from the kitchen doorway) "I'm ready."

He says annoyingly. Hating seeing his parents' displays of PDAs.

Jane and Maura can't help but giggle, as if they're teenagers being caught making out.

They withdraw from each other.

JANE: (To James) "Alright; let's go."

Jane gestures at James to lead the way.

Maura makes her way to her son.

MAURA: (To James) "Bye sweetie."

She leans down, kissing him on the cheek, as he squirms away.

JAMES: (Whines) "Mom."

He says, finding it disgusting that the same lips that kiss his cheek, are the same ones that were used to kiss Jane a few moments ago.

MAURA: "Have a good day at school."

James just nods, as he moves out of the kitchen, disgustingly wiping his cheek.

MAURA: (Playfully offended at James' manners) "Oh, stop. It's not that bad."

Maura then moves up, and steals another kiss from Jane, before Jane leaves as well.

JANE: "See ya."

MAURA: "Have a good day."

JANE: "We will."

MAURA: "And keep busy."

Jane smiles back, as she and James head out.

JANE: (Before closing the door behind her) "Bye!"

Maura smiles at them as they leave. She then moves back to the kitchen counter, to pour herself some coffee.

JANE'S APARTMENT – LATE MORNING

Jane enters her apartment with both arms full of grocery bags. She places her bags on the living room couch. She than heads back to the front door, and pulls her keys from the lock, and closes her door and locks it.

She then grabs her bags, and takes them to the kitchen counter. Where she starts unpacking, and putting the groceries away.

Afterwards, Jane decides to do some chores around her apartment to defer boredom.

BEDROOM

-Jane is remaking her bed with new clean sheets and pillow cases.

-Jane is dusting and tidying up her bedroom.

BATHROOM

-Jane cleans and scrubs her toilet bowl.

-Jane's wiping down the sink and such.

-Jane's now scrubbing her bathtub.

LIVING ROOM

Jane's dusting her coffee table, while going through her magazine pile, trying to decide what to leave, and what to throw out; when there's a knock on her door.

Jane puts her magazines down, along with her dust rag, and heads to the door, and answers it. It's Frankie, still dressed in his Cop Uniform.

JANE: "Hey, what's up?"

FRANKIE: (Holds up an envelope to Jane) "Happy Birthday."

Jane takes the envelope questioningly. As she steps back, allowing Frankie to enter. She closes the door behind him.

JANE: "You know, my birthday is not until another month."

FRANKIE: "I know. But, consider this an early present."

JANE: "Let me guess, Fenway tickets?"

FRANKIE: (Shocked) "How did you know?"

Jane chuckles.

JANE: "Because, we go every year for my birthday."

Jane says, as she makes her way towards the kitchen. Frankie follows.

FRANKIE: "True. But, this time's going to be different. I got tickets for James and Maura too."

JANE: (Excitedly) "No fucking way."

Frankie just smiles at her. Jane starts happily hopping around.

JANE: "This is great Frankie. Thank you."

Jane hugs Frankie tightly.

FRANKIE: "No problem."

They break the embrace, as Jane opens up the envelope to see it herself.

FRANKIE: "They're family too. It wouldn't be right to not include them."

Jane happily stares at the tickets in her hand. But she soon notices another 3 different tickets.

JANE: "What are these three tickets for?"

FRANKIE: "Batting practice. Apparently Pop knows a guy, who knows a guy. You know. And we wanted it to be special for you guys."

She then looks back up at Frankie. Not only did they have tickets to the game, but batting practice as well. She couldn't help but hug him again, to which he returns.

JANE: "Oh My God, I love you! You're the best brother ever!"

She hugs him tightly.

FRANKIE: "I can't breathe."

She continues hugging him for a second longer, than playfully pushes him away.

They laugh.

JANE: "Thank you."

FRANKIE: "Yeah well, thank Pop for those. Apparently they're for Club Members only."

Jane stares at her tickets in awe.

JANE: "God, this is so cool."

FRANKIE: (Smiling) "Happy birthday, Janie."

He says, as he puts his arm around her, and kisses her cheek.

She returns a side-hug.

JANE: "Thank you."

BPD HEADQUARTERS - MAURA'S OFFICE – AFTERNOON

Jane enters, enthused. While Maura sits at her desk typing up a report on her laptop.

JANE: "Hey…"

Maura looks up.

MAURA: "Hi." [Sarcastically) "Bored already, I presume."

Jane chuckles as she approaches Maura's desk. She plays with a small figure that's on Maura's desk.

JANE: "You know me too well."

MAURA: "I should. I'm around you more often than anyone else."

Jane looks up, unsure if that's a compliment or not.

JANE: "Anyways… Frankie came by earlier, to give me my birthday present. Wanna know what it was?"

Maura pretends to think.

MAURA: "Mmm… Fenway tickets?"

JANE: (Shocked) "What? How'd you Kno—"

MAURA: (Beat) "Frankie asked me about it a couple of weeks ago. He wanted to know, if I was interested in going. And I told him, yes."

Sneaky bastard.

JANE: "So I guess, I don't have to ask, if you wanna go?"

Maura smiles happily at her.

MAURA: "I'd love to. Considering that I haven't been back there, since, our time there together."

Jane's moved by this bit of information. She sits down on one of Maura's chairs across from her.

JANE: "Really? You haven't gone back since?"

Maura shrugs off, as if it's no big deal.

MAURA: "Baseball's never been my 'thing.' And James… He hasn't indicated, at least to me over the years, that he wanted to go. So, I never found a reason to go myself."

JANE: "So, do you think he'd want to go?"

Maura couldn't believe that Jane would even ask.

MAURA: "Of course he wants to go, Jane. He's your son. Everything you want to do or go see, he wants to go and do."

JANE: "Well, I hope it's also because he's interested in those things as well. And he's not going, just because I am. I mean, I want him to have a good time."

MAURA: "Oh, if you're there, he will. Trust me."

Maura chuckles out. Knowing that the two of them are inseparable.

JANE: (Nods happily) "Alright. Cool."

Just then Det. Crowe shows up at the doorway.

He's surprised to see Jane there.

DET. CROWE: (Cockily) "Well, well, well. What's up Rizzo? Didn't know you were back yet."

Jane sighs as she turns over to see him enter. Strutting in, as if he owns the place.

Jane rolls her eyes at him. She than turns back to Maura. And rises from her seat.

JANE: (To Maura, softly) "Well, I'll let you get back to work. I just wanted to come by and see you."

Crowe pauses a moment. Pretending like he didn't know he interrupted them.

DET. CROWE: (Unsympathetic) "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt. If you guys are having a private moment, I could—"

Jane's had enough of his antics.

JANE: (Turns to Crowe, sourly) "No. It's fine. I was just leaving anyways."

Jane turns back to Maura.

JANE: (Goes back to being lovely) "See ya at home."

Jane and Maura exchange a soft smile. As Jane turns to leave, she drops her smile to give Crowe a dirty look.

DET. CROWE: "Bye Jane. Hope you get better."

Jane stops just outside the office, and turns to look back at Crowe. Unsure if he's being genuine or not. But she soon turns back, and heads towards the elevators to leave.

Jane turns back one more time, when she hears Maura's voice address Crowe. She can see them through the open blinded window. She than sees Maura lead Crowe into the morgue next door. Crowe turns towards Jane's view, and smirks as he enters the morgue with Maura.

Oh, how she hated that guy. He just makes her skin crawl.

BPD HEADQUARTERS – LOBBY

Jane exited the elevators into the lobby area, making her way out. When she spotted Korsak, inside the lobby café, seated against the café wall, having a late lunch, while reading something on the table.

She felt the need to go in and say hi. Which she does. She walks into the café and up to Korsak's table.

CUT TO: BPD – DIVISION ONE CAFÉ

Jane is now seated across from Korsak. In front of Korsak is a case file he's working on.

They talk while Jane drinks from a cup of coffee, and munches on a chocolate donut with rainbow sprinkles.

KORSAK: "So how long are you out for?"

JANE: "I don't know, for sure. Doc says it may be another two weeks more. I just can't wait to come back to work."

KORSAK: (Scoffs) "Really? Why?"

Jane is taken aback, surprised by Korsak's sour response. And Korsak sees it.

KORSAK: "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to come out at you like that."

Jane can see he's under a lot of stress.

JANE: "Nah. It's okay. This job takes a lot out of you."

KORSAK: (Sad chuckle) "Yeah. Especially that last case. I thought for sure, it'd end up being another cold case."

That's when Jane perks up.

JANE: "Oh. I was meaning to ask you; what ever happened to that case we were working on? Did you ever find out who killed Justin? Danny told me Rene didn't do it."

KORSAK: "That's the case I'm talking about."

JANE: "Wow. It took a whole month to crack. So who was it? Can you say?"

KORSAK: "Yeah. It was the receptionist's husband. Apparently he suspected that she was having an affair with Justin. So, he followed her back to the factory that night, and caught them in the act. He beat Justin to death with his baseball bat, while she took off running."

Jane's trying to piece the info together.

JANE: "And she came up with the 'robbery' story, to protect her husband?"

Korsak nods an 'uh-huh.'

JANE: "Wow. So it had nothing to do with drugs."

KORSAK: "Nope, just your typical cheating spouse murder."

JANE: (Shakes her head) "That's crazy."

KORSAK: "Nope, that's love for ya. It make you do dramatic, stupid things."

Jane takes a moment to let it sink in.

JANE: "God, I hope not."

Jane tries to stay occupied for the next few weeks, since she's off on work leave. So, she takes on the 'Mr. Mom' role around the house, to kill the time.

MONTAGE SEQUENCE of the next few weeks:

*MAURA'S BEDROOM – MORNING

Jane is remaking the bed. Afterwards, she then gathers the dirty laundry basket, and heads out of the room.

*MAURA'S KITCHEN – DAY

Jane is at the stove making James some breakfast of scramble eggs and bacon.

Maura then comes into the room, fully dressed for work.

MAURA: (Happily smiles at Jane) "Hey, sweetie."

Maura walks up to Jane, and they both lean in for a loving kiss.

JANE: (Happily) "Mmm. Good morning."

Maura chuckles, as she walks behind Jane to the counter, to pour herself a cup of coffee.

Jane then takes a plate of breakfast to the table, along with a smaller plate of toast. She places the plates in front of an awaiting James; who happily consumes it.

*LATER THAT MORNING,

Jane places dishes and glasses into the dishwasher. Pours some dishwashing soap, and closes the door. And starts it up.

*MAURA'S LIVING ROOM – MORNING

Jane enters the room, keys in hand, gesturing at James.

JANE: "Ready to go?"

JAMES: "Yeah."

James puts on his backpack, and walks out the front door, ready for school.

Jane closes the door behind her, and locks it. Fulfilling her parental duties of taking James to school every morning.

*JANE'S APARTMENT

Jane is crossing off days with an "X" marking, on her wall calendar. Kind of like a prisoner does, crossing off the days until release date. But in Jane's case, she's crossing off days until she can go back to work.

*RIZZOLI HOUSEHOLD – KITCHEN - MORNING

Angela and Jane are in the kitchen preparing a meal. Angela is trying to teach Jane how to make homemade lasagna from scratch. But, Jane watches on unsure if she can pull it off. Angela is rolling out the homemade dough.

Jane tries to do the same with her dough that she made. But it's not coming out the same.

JANE: "Am I doing this right?"

Angela inspects Jane's progress.

ANGELA: "No, honey. You need it thinner."

Angela grabs Jane's dough off the countertop, and places it in front of her, and grabs the rolling pin, and starts rolling out the dough.

ANGELA: "See, you have to stretch it out. Like this."

Jane stands back, watching how it's done.

CUT TO:

*MAURA'S KITCHEN – DUSK

Jane opens up the oven, and pulls out a tray of homemade lasagna that she herself made from scratch, thanks to Angela's teachings. Which looks perfect and delicious. Jane looks at it, and smells it. Extremely pleased with how it came out.

Jane than takes the lasagna tray out to the dining room, where both James and Maura are seated. Jane places the lasagna tray on the table, presenting it to them like, "Voila, look at what I made."

Both James and Maura look on, pleased and excited to try it. Jane takes her oven mitts off, and cuts into the lasagna, and happily serves them.

*JANE'S APARTMENT

Jane is crossing off another day on her calendar. It looks to be about two weeks' worth of "X's." marked off.

*DOCTOR'S OFFICE – DAY

Jane is at her two-week doctor's appointment follow up. This time Maura's with her. She stands by Jane, who's sitting on the examination table.

Dr. Spencer is talking to them. And based on Jane's upset expression on her face, along with her usual 'C'mon' tone, it's not looking like the good news she was hoping for. Maura sighs, as she rubs Jane's back soothingly, trying to calm her down.

*JANE'S APARTMENT – LATER THAT DAY

Jane grabs her marker, and angrily scribbles out another day on her calendar. Then she angrily rips the calendar off the wall, and throws it down on her desk, along with her marker. And sits on her desk chair, and sighs frustratingly.

*JANE'S APARTMENT BLDG. - LAUNDRY ROOM – DAY

Jane is pulling out clothes, out of the washer. She than places the clothes into the dryer after inspecting each piece of clothing, to make sure they're good to go.

She than closes the dryer door, sets it, and presses start.

*MAURA'S LIVING ROOM – MORNING

Jane is doing her shoulder exercises, while James sits beside her on the couch, and mimics her movements; doing the exercises with her.

*MAURA'S BATHROOM – NIGHT

Jane and Maura are making out in the shower together.

*MAURA'S BACKYARD – DAY

Jane is trying to pitch some baseballs to James, as he tries to swing at them.

*LATER THAT DAY

Jane and James are playing catch in the backyard. Although, Jane's pitching arm is still a bit weaker.

*MAURA'S BEDROOM – NIGHT

Jane and Maura are in bed, making out under the covers. Jane rolls Maura over, never breaking the kiss. Settling between Maura's legs.

Jane breaks the kiss with a gasp and a moan, as she starts to thrust her hips forward into Maura's.

Jane tries to support her weight on top of Maura with her arms. She's successful, without feeling any pain emanating from her left shoulder.

She smiles, than leans down, and captures Maura's lips once again, as they continue to heavily fool around, and eventually make love.

*MAURA'S LIVING ROOM

James and Jane are playing videogames together. Laughing and having a blast.

*MAURA'S LIVING ROOM – NIGHT

Jane and Maura are cuddled up together on the couch, eating popcorn, watching a movie with James, who's sitting at the other end of the couch with his own popcorn bowl. Enjoying family movie night together.

*MAURA'S DINING ROOM – NIGHT

At the table, Jane and Maura are trying to prepare James for a math test. Which they've decided to make it into a fun game.

Maura presents a math question to both Jane and James. And both Jane and James write out their answer on their individual small white boards.

Maura times each question in a minute's time.

MAURA: (Stops her timeclock) "Time."

JANE: (To James) "Ready?"

He nods. And they both present their answers on their white boards.

James has his problem spelled out.

MAURA: "Good. The answer is negative 4 over 3. Great job, honey."

James happily smiles.

Then they turn their attention to Jane's answer. And there's just a drawing of a stick figure on Jane's board.

James chuckles at it.

MAURA: "Jane… Really? You couldn't answer it?"

Jane looks at her board.

JANE: (Sarcastically) "I didn't get the answer right? I could have sworn, this is the right answer."

They all laugh.

*JANE'S APARTMENT

Jane marks another "X" on the calendar, which she taped back up on her wall. Noticing that the days are winding down to her birthday.

*JANE'S APARTMENT - LIVING ROOM - DAY

Jane is vacuuming the living room carpet. She than leans down, shutting it off. She than clicks the handle back into place on the vacuum cleaner, and wipes her forehead in defeat.

THE MONTAGE CONCLUDES.

CARD: "Saturday, April 15, 2006"

JANE'S APARTMENT – BEDROOM - MORNING

Jane enters her bedroom from the hallway, wearing her custom Red Sox jersey, with her last name printed across the back. Along with some faded jeans, and sneakers. Ready for the ballpark.

Jane goes to her dresser drawers, and pulls out some socks and underwear. She then moves back to her bed, where she has an open duffle bag full of clothes, and packs her socks and underwear in there, and zips up the bag closed.

She then throws the bag over her shoulder, and heads out of the room.

FENWAY PARK – LATER THAT MORNING

Maura pulls her Mercedes-Benz into a parking space. She, Jane and James exit the car, all wearing their custom Red Sox jerseys. Maura special ordered hers when she heard about the baseball tickets. And unlike Jane and James, her jersey is the only one that says, "ISLES" on the back.

Both James and Jane place their navy blue Red Sox caps on. Jane pulls her pony tail through the back of the cap. While Maura puts on her visor hat on over her pony tail.

Maura goes to the trunk of the car, to pull out a good size carry-in bag full of items that they may need, sunscreen, tissues… etc.

JANE: (From the back of the car) "James, do you want your glove?"

James looks questioningly at Jane.

JAMES: "What for?"

JANE: "To catch foul balls with. I don't know."

James takes a second to think about it.

JAMES: "Okay."

He retrieves his glove from the trunk. Maura than closes the trunk, and sets her car alarm, as they walk towards the ballpark.

James stands out in front of the ballpark, looking up at it in awe. Both Jane and Maura stand back, letting James take in the scenery. They smile, seeing James' kid-like awe and excitement.

James looks back at his parents, who gesture to him to follow along. He enters the stadium with them.

INSIDE THE STADIUM,

They walk through the indoor portion of the grandstands towards their section.

JANE: (To James) "The game doesn't start for a while. But, I thought, that you'd get a kick outta coming early to see batting practice. Do you wanna see them practice?"

James smiles excitingly.

JAMES: "Yeah."

JANE: "Alright."

As they reach their section, the trio walks into the grandstands. James looks up at, and around the stadium in awe, as they walk down the aisle towards the field. There is about at least 50 die-hard fans in the stands for batting practice; there's also a half-dozen players grouped around the batting cage. As one player hits to several other players out in the field.

Jane stops James and Maura at the first row, right behind the Red Sox on-deck circle. They lean on the railing looking at the players practice on. Jane even points out some players to James, while sprouting out facts about them.

PRE-GAME TIME

After batting practice is concluded, the trio head back to inner portion of the grandstands again.

Both Jane and Maura are standing in a long line for the Ladies Room. Jane looks around impatiently. She then looks over towards the MEN's restroom, and sees absolutely no line.

What the fuck? It's moments like this I wish I was a real guy.

Jane sighs again. Hating this moment.

JANE: "God, is there really just one bathroom?"

MAURA: "Just be patient."

JANE: "My patience left 10 minutes ago."

MAURA: "We've only been waiting for, at most 5 minutes."

Just then they spot James leave the Men's restroom. He makes his way over to them in line, but is soon approached by Frankie and Tommy.

JANE: (Excitedly towards Frankie and Tommy) "Hey!"

Frankie and Tommy make their way over, and they each greet with a hug and a smile.

FRANKIE: (While hugging Jane) "Hey. Happy birthday Sis."

Jane breaks the hug.

JANE: "Thank you."

TOMMY: (Jokes) "Yeah, so what are you, like, 40 now?"

Jane playfully punches Tommy on his arm.

JANE: (Laughing) "Shut up." [After a moment] "So is Pop here?"

FRANKIE: "Yeah, and so is Ma."

This surprises Jane.

JANE: "Ma, really? She came? I thought she hates coming to these."

FRANKIE: "Well, she wanted to come. You know, since everybody's here and all."

This touched Jane. Considering that Angela never used to come before. But, now that Maura and James are involved, she wanted to be included as well.

JANE: "Wow."

TOMMY: (Gestures towards Frankie) "Hey, Frankie..." [Tilts his head the other direction] "You know…"

FRANKIE: "Yeah." [To Jane] "So we're going to go get something to eat, you guys want anything?"

Jane looks at the line in front of her to the restroom.

JANE: "Uh… We'll get snacks afterwards. Who knows when this line is going to move."

They all chuckle.

FRANKIE: "Alright. So, we'll see you up there."

JANE: "Yeah. And Frankie, can you take James with you. I'll pay you back later."

Frankie waves her off.

FRANKIE: "No, don't worry about. I got this." [To James] "C'mon buddy, let's go get something to eat."

JANE: "Thanks Frankie!"

Frankie turns back and waves. James happily goes with his uncles.

As they're walking…

FRANKIE: (To James) "So, how was batting practice? Did you like it?"

JAMES: (Nods) "Yeah. It was alright. A little boring."

Tommy chortles.

FRANKIE: "Well… Don't worry. The game is not going to be boring. Okay?"

James just nods along.

They approach a refreshment stand nearby.

FRANKIE: (To James) "So… What do you want? Wanna hotdog?"

James makes a disgusted face, as he quickly shakes his head no.

TOMMY: (Jumping in with his request) "Well, I want a hotdog."

Frankie just gives Tommy a look. Then goes back to James.

FRANKIE: "What's the matter, you don't like hotdogs?"

James shakes his head "no."

JAMES: "Mom says they're made from the worst parts of different animals."

He says with a disgusted look on his face.

Frankie doesn't believes it.

FRANKIE: "Uh. I don't think so."

Meanwhile Tommy's not taking any chances.

TOMMY: (Disgusted) "On second thought, I don't want a hotdog."

Frankie gives Tommy another look as if saying, "not you too."

FRANKIE: "Alright, fine. What about a burger or something."

Frankie points towards the menu, letting James pick for himself, what he wants to eat.

FRANKIE: (Cont.) "Anything you want, Jimmy. I'll get it for you."

James scans the menu looking for what's good.

TOMMY: "Can I have a burger, at least."

Frankie just rolls his eyes at his brother, who in return, just shrugs a "What?" at him.

LATER,

Off to the side, Jane and Maura make their way to a picnic table, where the rest of the Rizzolis are sitting at, eating food and snacks. Enjoying the downtime before the game.

Jane places her and Maura's paper food trays of chicken tenders and fries down on the table, while she sits next to James, who's eating the same thing. Maura meanwhile, places their cokes down on the table, as she sits next to Jane.

JANE: (To James) "Hey, you're eating chicken tenders too."

James just nods as he continues consuming his food, happily.

FROM THE OTHER END OF THE TABLE,

ANGELA: "Happy birthday sweetie."

Jane gets up from her place, and heads over to her mother and father, and greets them with a hug and kiss on the cheek.

JANE: "Thanks Ma!" [Turns to her father] "Thanks Pop!"

FRANK: "You're welcome, Janie." ANGELA: "You're welcome, sweetheart."

Jane then heads back to her place at the table, and digs into her food, along with the rest of them.

DURING THE MEAL, everyone is having their own conversations going on with one another. Laughing, and having a great time, before the game starts.

That's when Frankie gets up from the table to throw his trash away. Maura sees him leave the table, and immediately grabs her purse from her bag, and excuses herself from the table as well.

Jane watches her go. She sees that Maura walks up to Frankie at the trash bins, and they have a little chat. She then sees the two of them leave together, towards another section of the grandstands.

Jane looks at them leave worriedly. Wondering where they're going.

But as they disappear into the crowds, Jane returns her attention back to the conversations that are going on.

MOMENTS LATER, Frankie and Maura return to the picnic table. And Maura returns, carrying something "sweet" in her hands.

Everyone at the table gasps at what Maura has in her hands. Jane turns around to see what they're gasping about.

That's when Maura places an 8oz Navy blue, Red Sox Baseball helmet, filled with an ice cream sundae on the table, in front of Jane. Jane looks at it in awe.

JANE: (To Maura) "You got me this?"

Maura just smiles at Jane.

Jane is about to grab the spoon and devour the sundae, when Maura stops her.

MAURA: (Reaching out) "No! Not yet."

Jane pauses, and stares at Maura questioningly.

That's when Maura grabs her big bag, and rummages through it, looking for something in particular. She smiles widely when she finds the item. She pulls out a single Birthday candle.

And this moves Jane.

Maura then places the candle on top of the ice cream sundae, and that's when Tommy pulls out a Zippo lighter, and lights the candle. This action surprises everyone at the table, including Maura. Who was searching her bag for her own personal lighter that she purchased for this occasion.

They all stare at Tommy questioningly. Wondering why he has a lighter if he doesn't smoke.

TOMMY: (Shrugs) "What? You never know, when you might meet a girl who smokes."

They chuckle and shake their heads at Tommy's response.

Meanwhile, Maura presents the sundae back to Jane. And Jane just stares down at it.

That's when everyone starts to sing happy birthday, but Jane soon shuts them all down, with a demanding "No."

They all stop. Feeling awkward, for even starting it. But, Jane soon realizes that what she did was rude, and tells them to start up again. Which they did.

EVERYONE: (Singing) "Happy Birthday to you…"

As they sing the song to her, Jane looks around at the other tables full of fans around her, feeling embarrassed by having this uninviting attention on her.

As the song concludes, everyone at the table claps and cheers. Jane finally feels at ease, now that the embarrassing part is over.

She then looks over to Maura, feeling moved and loved by her, by this great gesture.

MAURA: "Make a wish, Jane."

Maura says lovingly with a smile.

That's when Jane looks around the picnic table, and at the smiling faces of everyone around her. Everyone, who loves and cares for her. This moment… This sight in front of her, moved Jane more than anything. She was just so overwhelmed by noticing how much a difference a year makes. A year ago it was just her, her brothers, and her father sitting at these tables, talking about nothing particularly important. A year ago, she was basically a loner outside her family. With no friends, no partner, no children (or at least she thought.) She seriously thought that that's how she was going to live out her life, alone. But now, she looked around the table, and at Maura and James, she now felt complete. She had it all, family, a best friend and a loving partner in Maura, an amazing kid, with whom she can't picture living without. And for the second time in her life, she is happy to be alive. It was everything she ever wished for, for herself, was to be happy and fulfilled.

MAURA: "Well, Jane. Are you going to make your wish, and blow out the candle?"

Everyone at the table playfully laughs.

But, Jane just puts on a satisfied smile on her face, and looks down at James and then turns back to Maura.

JANE: "I have everything I ever wished for…" [She puts her arms around both Maura and James] "…Right here."

Everyone "awes" at this.

Jane and Maura share a little touching kiss together. Then, Jane turns towards James.

JANE: "Wanna help me blow out the candle, bud?"

James happily nods.

Jane, Maura, and James lean forward and blow it out together. Everyone cheers and claps.

Jane grabs the spoon, and takes a spoonful from the sundae, she then scoops up another spoonful, and feeds it to Maura. She then wipes the spoon off with a napkin, and then hands it to James.

JANE: (Moves the sundae towards him) "Here, you want some."

He nods happily as he consumes the sundae himself, but not until both Frankie and Tommy ask for a scoop too. Which he obliges to.

They all continued enjoying their free time together before the game. Just one big, happy, united family.

A/N: I hope this makes up for the previous chapter. Also, I wanted to do some time leaping as well. I don't wanna stay in a single timeframe for too long. Since we still have a long way to go; I mean we're still in 2006.

Um, as far as this story is concerned, I may just take it up to where the series started with episode 1. I originally was going to have a sequel for this story, that may pick up in 2010, and go all the way to the end of the series.

But, now that the series is over, and there may be a bit of decline in fanfiction appeal. I don't know how I feel about it. I'm still determined to finish out this story. But, I'm not sure in what contents though. I really don't wanna retell each and every of the episodes and their storylines. But more so, brush over them. I just hope I can do it in efficient time. I don't know, I may just be the last Rizzles writer still standing here, since I'm noticing some of the writers have stopped writing fanfic, and gone off to do other things. But not me, not yet. I still have a lot to tell about these characters.

So, until the next chapter... Have a good one :)
