Crawl
They'd spent a good part of the day at the Jeffersonian National Air and Space Museum. Parker and Christine had visited there many times, but they both still loved the museum. Booth also loved the exhibits there. It had been a fun family day, but now they just wanted to get home.
"What is up with this traffic? We're barely moving at a crawl now." Booth grumbled. "I just want to get home and get some dinner."
"Daddy, I'm hungry when can we eat? I'm going to starve to death." Booth glanced in the mirror at Christine who had put on her best pouty face imaginable.
Brennan started to reply, "You are not going to starve to death Christine. That would take more than 30 days without food to occur; assuming you are still getting water to drink. You're not starving, you're merely hungry."
"I don't know Bones; I'm with Christine on this one. I'm starving too." Parker called out.
Booth swung the SUV out of traffic into a streetside parking space that had just opened up. "Heck I'm hungry too. Since it's right around the corner why don't we just all head into the Royal Diner for dinner? We haven't eaten there since Parker has been here this summer. I'm sure they'll be happy to see us all."
As the family entered the diner they were greeted by their two favorite waitresses. They fussed over the baby and the kids and arranged everyone so that they could get settled in and order. As they were looking over the menus Frankie himself came out of the kitchen to greet them.
"Well look who we have here, my favorite customers. And look at the little guy spitting image of his old man." He then looked to the older two. "And you young man, it's been a really long time since I've seen you. How have them English dudes been treating you?" then without giving Parker a chance to reply "And you little Princess, looking more like your Mama every day."
Then before anyone could reply Frankie rubbed his hands over his apron covered belly and said. "Well I can't stand here chitchatting all day. I have to get back to the kitchen. I'm just glad to see you here; that's all."
Brennan looked around smiling and said "I'm glad we were forced to come here today. I didn't realize how much I missed this place."
