I am on a roll ya'll! I am so happy I finished two chapters in two days! TWO GOOD CHAPTERS in two days. Anyway, I tried including everyone as best as I could. But I already had half of this written by the time I had all the answers to my from you guys. I really appreciate how fast you all got back to me! I am excited for this chapter. I have been waiting for an awesome way to send *insert character name here* home since the beginning.
I also wanted to get this done because I don't know how much longer it will be until I update again. Carlos and I have hit quite the bump in our relationship. He dropped a bomb on me today that if he can't come up with a way to pay for his summer college class by tomorrow, he'll be going back home soon. It means he won't transfer to University from Community college at the same time I do. Which means it may be a year before I get to see/talk to him in person again. Long distance relationships have never worked for me and he is the best guy I have dated.
Anyway, enough of my sobby, sad, relationship story. Read the chapter!
Disclaimer: I don't own Total Drama. Or most of these characters. Like four are mine.
Ethan stood on the porch of the hotel. It was early morning and the sun had not risen yet. The contestants were most likely still sleeping in their rooms.
"Last time on Total Drama Abandoned our mysterious ninja, Hanzo, got the boot after Joe pulled the invisibility statue! Hanzo left in a puff of smoke after giving everyone a warning about Joe. Will anyone heed the warning? Find out this time on Total Drama Abandoned!"
When Ethan stopped talking, Chris and Chef stood off to the side with a horn. A loud siren filled the air followed by several groans coming from inside the building. The siren ended and Ethan shouted over the intercom, "Everyone on the porch in ten minutes!"
Alec and Dominic were in their room. Dominic was up early watching episodes the Big Bang Theory. He had brought a box set with him. Alec was also awake, although, he was not as awake as his friend. Alec had woken up about fifteen minutes before due to the noise from the television. When the siren went off, Alec dropped the gadget he was tinkering with and looked out the window. Dominic jumped and plugged his ears with his finger.
"It's just Chris and Chef!" Alec shouted over the sound. Dominic groaned and covered his ears with his pillow. The sound died down and
Matt was asleep when the siren went off. After the merge, Josh and Matt had moved into the room Joe was sleeping in. The 'cowboy' was not thrilled because after Kris left, he was enjoying the time to himself. Matt was dreaming very vocally. He was tossing and turning in his bed. When the siren sounded, he shot up in bed.
"Zombies!" He screamed as he held his hands up as if he was holding a shot gun.
Matt's Confessional: "In Zombie Fighter Five, the sirens means a wave of undead are coming to eat you! Always stay alert!"
About the same time Matt spurted out of bed, Joe and Josh did as well. Josh fired up out of bed and began doing several Kung Fu moves. Joe jumped so far up he fell out of bed. He landed on his face.
"Shit," he mumbled under his breath without the southern accent.
The siren ended and the three boys looked around at each other.
"Chris is a dead man," Matt grumbled sleepily as he rubbed his eyes. He caught something red sticking out of Joe's bed. He grabbed a shoe and chucked it at the sheets.
"The hell man?" Joe glanced over at him. Matt crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow as his sister sat up in Joe's bed. Her headphones were in her ears and the faint sound of heavy metal music could be heard coming from them. It was obvious that the siren had no effect on her. She rubbed her head from where the shoe had hit her with a glare in Matt's direction.
Josh's Confessional: "When did Halo get in our room? She wasn't there when we went to bed last night."
Joe's Confessional: "Why is gamer boy giving me the stink eye? Halo slept over. Big deal. She knocked on the door at one in the morning complaining of a nightmare so I let her sleep with me." *Frowns* "It's not what you think. I let her in because I didn't want to ruin my 'good ol' boy' image to seem like an ass. It wasn't because she was crying when she came over."
After the merge Jamie and Mia moved their things into Halo and Leah's room. Halo's bed was empty as was Mia's bed. The other two girls were sleeping soundly until the siren went off. Leah raced from her bed, grabbed a few items from her bag, and headed for the door.
"Fire!" Leah yelled.
Jamie, who had jolted from bed and was now at the window, looked over at the shorter girl.
"Leah, it's just Ethan and Chris!" She shouted over the sound.
"What?" Leah shouted back.
"It's Ethan and Chris!" Jamie shouted louder. Leah still could not hear and she yelled again. Jamie yelled back one more time before the sound stopped.
Leah's Confessional: "You shouldn't set off sirens when there isn't a fire."
Jamie: "Why can't they leave us alone? It's five am. I want to sleep."
Mia was sitting on the steps of the saloon during the early hours of the morning. She held a tiny baby rabbit in her hands as she wrapped a bandage around its injured leg. The siren went off and scared her baby bunny. After the siren stopped, she raced to the hotel porch.
Everyone else arrived a little later than Ethan wanted. They found him scowling as they appeared.
"It's about time!" Ethan grumbled. "I have a challenge for you losers!" He crossed his arms in front of his chest. Chef wheeled in a crate and tossed each contestant a robotic baby and a diaper bag. Most of them stared at the things with confusion.
"We have to take care of a robot?" Alec grumbled.
Alec's Confessional: "It's like my Robotics class final all over again. Only this robot is a baby."
Ethan took ahold of one of the babies. "These are not just robots. These are baby-bots. Each one of you will get to use your parenting skills and take care of the adorable little creatures for the day. In your diaper bags are bottles with sensors that only your baby will react too, diapers with the same sensors, and toys. Baby-bots act almost identical to real babies. They crawl, they cry, they poop, and they barf. You get points every time you take care of your baby-bot's needs. Point values depend on how fast you tended to the need and how well you did. At the end of the day, the person with the most points wins immunity. The person with the least will be going home. Any questions?"
Mia raised her hand, "Can we help each other?" She glanced over at Josh pleadingly. They both knew Josh was the better caretaker of the two of them. Mia could take care of any baby animal but a human baby was a different story, even if it was robotic.
"That would ruin the point of the competition, Mia. You can't take care of someone else's baby-bot, but I don't care if you give each other advice," Ethan shrugged. "The baby-bots will activate in thirty minutes. That's when the challenge will start. I don't care what you do today as long as you keep the baby-bots with you at all times. Treat them like they are real babies."
Mia's Confessional: *Holding the baby-bot an arms-length away from her by its foot* "I can't take care of a baby! I don't know the first thing about it! If it was a baby bunny or a baby squirrel, I totally could do it! But not a robotic, human baby!"
Thirty minutes later, everyone was back in their rooms. Not everyone was sleeping, but some decided to catch some shut eye.
Mia sat in the middle of her bed staring her baby-bot in the eyes. She had it laying on the foot of her bed as far from her as possible. She was biting her thumb in concentration. She jumped in surprise when the baby started to cry.
"Oh no!" She shuffled through the diaper bag and threw the bottle at the baby-bot. It only caused the thing to cry louder.
"No. No. No," she mumbled as she fumbled with the bottle and trying to fit it in the baby-bot's mouth. It stopped crying and began to make sucking noises.
"Did I kill it?" She looked at the bottle in her hand.
Alec stared in awe at the robotic baby sitting on his bed. The thing was so life like that it was crazy. He had a screwdriver in one hand and had to keep himself from taking the machine apart to see how it worked. He was experimenting with the strange creature. He placed a toy in front of the baby-bot and watched as it interacted with it as a real baby would.
"Incredible!" He smiled. The baby-bot recognized his voice and turned its head to look at him. Alec sat next to it and smiled at it. He waved and watched as it waved back. Then it squished its face up and grunted. Alec at first thought it was broken. He was relieved when the face went back to normal. The baby-bot's lip puffed out as it started to whimper.
Alec's Confessional: "I would love to meet whoever designed these baby-bots to be so life like. It's astounding!"
"What's wrong little guy?" Alec panicked at first. He grabbed a bottle to feed it, but realized he had fed it only a few minutes before.
"Oh," he said simple as he laid the baby-bot down to change its diaper. "My first time putting a diaper on a robot."
He blink surprised as he changed the bot's diaper. "I guess you aren't a 'little guy' are you?"
Leah smiled down at her baby-bot. For a robot, she had to admit, it was pretty cute. She was cradling and feeding it. She finished feeding it and set it down on her bed. She watched as it grabbed one of its toys and threw it before laughing. Leah laughed with it and fetched the toy, only for the bot to do it again. The game went on for a few minutes before Leah needed a break. She set the toy on the dresser and handed the baby a different one. It gurgled happily.
Her baby was surprisingly quiet. She had to wonder if everyone else was having as easy of a time. She picked up the baby and headed out the door to find someone else.
Joe was almost in the same predicament as Mia. Joe knew nothing about caring for a kid due to his upbringing. His baby-bot had begun crying as soon as it was activated. Josh sat on his own bed with his baby-bot in his arms. He named the thing Josh Junior. JJ for short He had already fed and changed JJ twice. That was when they learned the robots were anatomically correct.
Joe's baby-bot kept crying. Matt sat on his own bed plugging his ears. He was never one to like children. He adored his niece, but she had been out of diapers for years. His baby-bot was beginning to be affected by the sound of the other crying bot. Matt's baby began crying loudly and soon Josh's joined in the crying. Josh stood and cradled his and slowly began to rock to sleep. Joe watched the Brit's actions carefully.
"I'm going to check on Mia," he left the room leaving the other two with crying robots. Joe slowly picked up his baby-bot and tried to rock it to sleep, but it only cried louder. Matt began to cradle his and finally calmed it down.
"I'm leaving too. Try feeding the stupid thing," he suggested. Matt did not want to be anywhere near Joe after finding Halo in his bed this morning and the crying baby gave him an excuse to leave. Joe took Matt's advice and fed the baby-bot. The screaming stopped and he laid back on his bed relieved.
Dominic smiled proudly to himself. His baby-bot had been fed and changed. He was currently playing with it in the saloon. Annie had joined him.
"Are you going to name her?" Annie giggled as the robot baby crawled into her lap.
"I don't know. I only have it for a day. It would be a little pointless," he rolled a small ball toward the baby-bot.
"She's so life like. It's like she's a real baby," Annie giggled again as she ran her fingers down the baby-bot's soft, silicon skin. "They must have cost a fortune! I'm surprised Chris has so many." The baby-bot gurgled as she bounced in Annie's lap.
Dominic smiled to himself as he watched Annie interact with the baby-bot. "You're really good with kids."
"I have several younger siblings. I had to learn fast how to take care of children," she smiled warmly as the bot crawled over to Dominic. "You're not so bad yourself."
"I was a Possum Scout. Childcare is one thing they make you learn in order to advance to the next level," he set the baby-bot in his lap as it started to squirm and fuss. He reached for the bottle and began to feed her.
Annie laughed, "I have to say that I am very impressed with your baby skills."
Dominic's cheeks turned a slight shade of pink. He thanked Annie and turned his head when he heard someone else enter the saloon. Alec and Leah were walking with their baby-bots in their arms. Alec was keeping quiet while he listened to Leah talk on and on.
"Alec!" Annie waved. Alec's head snapped in her direction and he smiled.
"Hey, Annie," he waved back. He carefully sat on the floor next to her and placed his baby-bot in his lap. Annie smiled at it and reached over to pick it up. Alec shook his head and held the bot tight.
"She only likes to be held by me." His statement was proved accurate when the baby-bot to clung his chest.
"Aw, she likes you," Leah smiled as she sat down next to Dominic. She set her baby down and watched it interact with the others. She jumped a little when her bot sneezed.
"They can sneeze too?" Alec looked impressed. "I really need to figure out how these bots work!" He gently poked the cheek of his baby causing it to smile.
Leah laughed softly and nodded. "Mine sneezes all the time. He's really quiet too. He doesn't cry loud or for long. He just makes this cute little whine."
As if on cue, her baby-bot started to whine. Everyone laughed softly at the sound as Leah fed the baby.
Josh knocked on Mia's door and she answered in a panic.
"Josh!" She ushered him in the room. "Thank goodness you're here! I think I killed my baby!" She paced back and forth as she pointed to the silent baby-bot on her bed.
Josh frowned and looked at her, "Did you feed it?"
Mia nodded.
"Did you change the diaper?"
She nodded again.
"How long has it been quiet?" He gently laid his baby down on her bed.
Mia looked down at her baby-bot and then looked at Josh. "It's been quiet for about an hour."
Josh nodded and leaned closer to the baby. He heard a faint breathing sound and gave Mia a thumbs up.
"It isn't dead. It's asleep," he laughed. Mia sighed in relief and plopped onto her bed. The movement woke her baby-bot up causing it to fuss. She sat up panicking again. Josh put a hand on her head and tried to calm her down. Then he slowly went through instructions on how to get the baby-bot to calm down. Once the bot was calm, Mia sighed.
"Thank you so much, Josh! I really don't want to get sent home. I can't believe I made it this far," she gave her best friend a hug.
"No problem! I think I would go crazy here without you," he returned the hug.
Mia laughed and glanced over to make sure her baby was okay before speaking again. "So you and Joe have an alliance going?"
Josh's eyes went wide. He turned to his friend as his body began to shake. Mia placed her hand on his arm.
"Josh, are you okay? What's wrong?" She asked worried.
Josh grabbed her by her shoulders and shook her yelling, "What do you know, Mia? Who told you? Was it Ethan? Or was it Joe? "
Mia blinked repeatedly from the shaking. Once Josh finally let her go, she stared at him. "I don't know what just happened."
Josh cleared his throat and apologized as he ran his hands through his hair, "Sorry, Mia. I think I should go."
"Josh wait!" Mia called out as he grabbed his baby-bot and ran. Mia sighed and sat on the bed next to her baby.
"I can do this!" She tried to assure herself.
Jamie was pumped. She had tons of experience with babies from taking care of her younger siblings. She had this challenge in the bag. She was doing a short happy dance when the baby-bot began to scream. She picked it up and bounced it with her as she danced. The baby calmed down and let out a soft giggle.
A loud knock sounded at the door and she was surprised that the fake baby reacted to it. She walked over and opened it. Josh was standing there with his baby-bot and a bouquet of flowers.
"Hey," he handed her the wildflowers. "This is an apology for ditching you in the last challenge."
Jamie's cheeks flushed pink, "Josh, they're beautiful!"
Josh rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. JJ seemed to imitate him. Jamie laughed and stepped aside for him to come into the room. She set the flowers in the empty vase that conveniently happened to sit on her dresser.
"It looks like you have a little buddy," Jamie pointed at Josh's baby.
Josh laughed and smiled again, "Yeah, I named him JJ."
"Short for Josh Junior?" She chuckled.
"Totally. Anyway, I was wondering if you and your little bot friend wanted to come watch a movie in my room." He bit his lip nervously.
"I would love too!" Jamie grinned. Josh grinned back and took her hand as he led her to his room.
Joe heard a soft knock on his door. Glaring at the baby-bot playing with toys on his bed, he stood up to answer it. Halo stood at the door with her bot on her hip. She was bouncing it causing it to giggle happily.
"Hey. I thought we'd come by and see how you were doing," she smiled.
"We?" Joe asked. "Only you is there, Miss Halo."
She laughed softly and pointed to the baby-bot playing with her braided hair. Joe had to keep himself from shivering from the creepy resemblance between Halo and the robot. "I named him Nik."
Joe shook his head. He should not have been surprised. He knew Halo was weird enough to make this baby-bot thing more serious than just a challenge. He stepped aside anyway and let her and the weird baby-like thing into his room.
"They're kinda cute," she laughed as she set her baby-bot down on the bed next to Joe's bot. The two babies began to play together.
"I guess, but Miss Halo, ya know they ain't real babies, right?"
She sighed and nodded before sitting beside her baby-bot. It turned to look at her and crawled into her lap. Joe sat down beside her just as his baby began to cry. He groaned softly to himself as he grabbed the bottle off his dresser. He tried feeding the baby-bot, but it only screamed louder. He groaned again and roughly grabbed the robot to change its diaper. When he was done, he turned back around to see Halo looking appalled. Joe's baby-bot cried softly at the cold treatment Joe gave it.
"Wha?" He looked at her.
"You can't treat a baby like that!" She frowned.
"I changed the diaper," he crossed his arms. Halo shook her head. Her baby-bot started to fuss.
"Let me show you how it is done," she gently laid her bot on the bed and changed its diaper. She cooed at it a few times making it gurgle and smile. Joe could not help but smile as he watched Halo interact with the fake baby. It was cute, but he would never admit that.
His head turned when Josh opened the door and entered the room. Jamie was right behind him. Both of them had their baby-bots. Great.
"OH, are we interrupting something?" Josh looked at Joe.
Joe shook his head and laughed, "Nah, Miss Halo was just showing me how to treat a baby." He pointed to Halo who was still occupied with both her and Joe's baby-bots.
"We were going to watch a movie, you want to join us?" Josh invited.
Joe shook his head, "No thank ya. I think I gonna go for a walk with my bot."
Jamie shrugged, "Suit, yourself."
Joe plucked his baby-bot from Halo's lap and headed out the door. She followed close behind.
Once they were outside, they heard voices coming from the saloon. Joe sent Halo on ahead to meet the others for the little play date. He needed some space from people for a moment. That's when he noticed it. A baby-bot sat in the dirt alone. He looked around before picking it up and carrying it to a barrel. He 'carefully' dropped it in. He threw some other stuff that was just lying around into the barrel and then shut the lid. He chuckled darkly to himself. His baby-bot looked at him with its head cocked to the side.
"Shh," he put his finger to his lips. The baby imitated him. He chuckled again and ran to catch up with Halo and the others in the saloon.
A few hours later, the sun began to set. That was the cue that the elimination ceremony was about to start. Everyone met back up in the Room of Elimination with their bots. Correction, everyone but Matt had their baby-bot. Matt was chewing on his nails nervously.
Ethan stood in front of everyone. Chef stood behind him with a television showing the each person's progress with the baby.
Josh, Jamie, and Halo were practically tied for the win. However, Josh's score was a couple points higher than the girls. He was the challenge's winner and the one with immunity.
"Josh, you are safe for winning the challenge," Ethan smirked. "But really everyone but the loser is safe. Matt, you don't even have your baby-bot. Care to explain?"
Matt stood and shook his head, "It crawled away. I couldn't find it. I looked everywhere."
Ethan pressed a button on a remote and the television cut to a scene Chef fishing out Matt's bot from a barrel.
"We found it in a barrel a few feet from the saloon. Looks like someone on the show is finally causing some drama! It's about time. I was getting tired of all of you being so friendly. Keep up the dirty tricks. Matt, bro, it's time to go," Ethan laughed.
Matt frowned, "I will find out who did that! When I do, you will be sorry!" Chef laughed as he dragged a protesting Matt away from the hotel.
Joe's Confessional: *Laughing* "It was Matt's stupid baby that I threw in the barrel? Oh this is too good. I'm going to have to up my game for the next challenge."
Josh's eyes widened as he stood outside the confessional. He heard everything Joe said. He needed to warn someone and he knew who needed warned the most.
Josh's Confessional: "I knew something was off with Joe! When I overheard him, his accent was gone. I bet the wanker isn't even from Tennessee. He's been playing us all into thinking he's naïve, dumb, and nice."
How was it? I'm sorry that not everyone got an equal amount of time, but after a while I felt like I was repeating myself with how everyone was taking care of their babies. That and like I said, this was halfway finished when I got all my responses back.
I'm stuck for the next challenge, guys. Do you have any ideas for a challenge? Or any ideas at all? It might help me update soon.
