Hey guys! I had actually planned to upload this yesterday, turned on the computer, and... Was suddenly dragged out the door.. Hope you enjoy this anyways. :-)
Clover-
It was 11:30. She had time before she needed to be at The Groove to meet Sam. Jerry had asked to see her, so here she was. She sat where he'd gestured, waiting for his answer.
"Hello Clover."
"Morning Jerry."
"I've considered in the matter of attempting to recruit Mandy. If you think that it's a good idea, and not a waste of the Eraser, then I give you my consent." Clover smiled.
"Thank you Jerry! I don't think you'll regret this!"
"I hope not."
So Clover went to the hospital, got Mandy released, and drove back to WOOHP. It was now 12:15.
"Are you sure about this?"
"My boss said he's willing to meet you, and you need a way to get out of your mom's grasp. This is the best option I could come up with."
"Thanks Clover."
"Don't thank me yet, thank me after you get the job." The elevator doors closed, and they made their way to Jerry's office. Mandy seemed nervous.
"You look fine, the make-up covered up about everything, but that scar's permanent. At least it's fainter now..." Mandy nodded, watching as Clover knocked, and stepped in the office, gesturing for her to follow.
Mandy-
She hadn't expected the kindness that Clover had given, especially after all the crap she'd put on their group in high school, and college.
After college, Mandy wasn't anything special. She'd never been really good in school, and Mindy was more interested in clubbing than her. She found herself alone, and depressed. Her dad was a business executive, and he spent a lot of time in Chicago.
Even though her parents were married, Mandy didn't see her dad much. Her mom was always doing her company stuff, and had been Mandy's role model her whole life.
After multiple rehab trips because of drugs, alcohol, a car accident, and an attempt at ending it all, Mindy had convinced her to disobey her mother and go clubbing. Her mother came to the hospital, furious at the money Mandy was costing her, and how this was affecting her reputation.
Over the time she spent alone, in the bleach smelling hospital room, Mandy had changed her outlook on life. If she didn't want to spend her life hated and alone, she needed to change some things.
Clover had come along, and though Mandy was cautious of the blonde, she seemed to genuinely care. Now this was a chance to get a job, and to get her life back in control. Adjusting the clip that held her hair away from her face, she stepped into Mr. Lewis's office, unsure of what would happen next.
Clover-
She smiled as Mandy shook Jerry's hand. Mandy would have a trial run with WOOHP, and if she decided that it wasn't her thing, (again, but she didn't know that,) she would have her memory erased.
Clover said she would have wanted to personally show Mandy around, but she had to go meet and apologize to a friend she'd unfairly hurt. Mandy thanked her, and Clover left, hoping she'd find what she was looking for in WOOHP.
Downtown traffic was bad, and Clover knew being late would say things her words wouldn't. Luckily for her, at that moment, Sam sent her a text.
Hey, I'm going to be late. Meet you in front of the smoothie place?
She texted back, "Sure." and found a parking space. Entering under the arch, she passed a few cafes before someone caught her eye.
Alex was sitting at a table, laughing, with a guy. The guy was wearing an open sweatshirt, and a fedora, but Clover couldn't see much else. Being the nosy bestie she was, she went over to see for herself.
"Hi Alex!" She called, patting her friend on the back.
"Clover!" Alex squeaked, hopping in her seat in surprise. "This is David, from school. He's just come back from volunteering in Africa."
"David? Oh wow, I barely recognized you!"
"I barely recognized you either, Clover. Nice haircut, I think it suits you better than the old one." Clover blushed.
"Thanks."
"Do you want to stay and catch up with us?" Clover studied Alex quickly. Alex wanted alone time, she could tell from the blushing.
"I wish I could, but I have a friend I need to meet up with to apologize to. Maybe I'll see you around." She waved goodbye, and saw Alex mouth 'thank you'. She smiled, before looking at her watch. She had to hurry!
She made it to the smoothie shop seconds before she saw Sam round the corner. Sam looked straight at her, walking over.
"Clover? Is that you?" Clover pushed her circly sunglasses into her hair, revealing her face.
"Hi Sam, how are you?" Sam shifted.
"I'm alright..."
"As you noticed, I got a new haircut. But that isn't why I invited you here. I want to apologize. I was unfair, and I treated you like an object. When you needed support, I had a temper-tantrum for my own problems, and I hurt you in the process. I'm sorry Sam." Clover said truthfully, albeit bluntly. Sam eyes lit, and her face shifted through many expressions before becoming stoic.
"I'm... sorry too Clover... Your haircut looks really nice." Sam shifted awkwardly. She didn't really know where she stood with Clover as a friend now.
"Thanks Sam. Did you see David's back in town?" Clover asked, trying to melt some of the tension between them.
"No, really?" Sam's eyebrows rose in surprise.
"Yup, only found out when I saw Alex sitting with him at a cafe right before I came to meet you." Sam grinned.
"Well, I've got to go say hello." Sam said with a devious grin. Clover grinned back. The two grabbed some smoothies, and went to attack Alex's mini 'date'.
What did you think? Clover's made some progress, and Sam's gained some self-confidence. Of course, right now, her subconscious isn't exactly being honest... :-) Review!
