"Alright then, here I come!" she called out as the crowd continued standing on their feet with the suspicion that the duel was about to reach its high point event he MC was enthralled as he rushed around the field like a madman pumping up the crowd. "Flamvell Firedog take a bite out of his swordsman and end this duel!" she called out pointing towards the swordsman standing on the ground with his sword at the ready for the dog, then like a flash of lightning the dog rushed forward and right before it was about to pounce Sam called back.

"Do you think it would be that simple? Trap card, open! 'Negate Attack!' This card negates the attack and forcibly ends the battle phase." He said quickly as the dog slowly stopped so he was just inches from the warrior as he growled before returning to his summoner's side.

"I won't 'forget' about my monster's effects this time. You left yourself wide open for Slicer. I can inflict 500 damage to you at the cost of giving up this card's attack!" she replied with triumphantly as the monster leaned back and fired volcanic ball of molten lava towards Sam who only smirked bigger.

"I activate another facedown card, 'Damage Splash', this card negates damage that I would receive and increases a monster's attack on my side of the field by that amount!" he combated with as the card flipped itself open and flashed. As the ball hit Sam hit broke apart and the fires that would inflict damage instead showered LV3 only increasing his strength.

"Don't think I'm out of options yet! Queen's effect activates, once per turn I can tribute a monster I control and inflict 1000 damage to you. So I tribute Slicer and reduce your life points to 0!" she called out clearly getting more and more excited with each counter move that Sam had in store as the huge dragon-esque monster fired a similar ball of lava towards Sam and made a direct hit.

"Humph. Anyone could see through that move and thanks to Soul Exploration earlier I can use this guy's effect. Life Saving Gardna!" he called out slapping the card on his disk still in the middle of the flames as an armored knight appeared in front of him protecting him from harm. "This guy can only be summoned when my life points would be brought to 0 by a card effect my life points become 100 instead." He finished slightly stumbling from the intense force of the ball of lava.

"I knew you wouldn't give up that easily. I enter my end phase and tribute Firedog to avoid taking damage from Queen's effect." She simply stated as the dog disappeared from view.

Flare: LP- 4000 Sam: LP- 100

"Awesome! My turn, Draw!" he yelled out as he drew the top card of his deck and smirked placing it into his hand. "I activate my last facedown card, the spell card, LV Rush! This card activates by banishing a LV monster from my grave and special summoning another LV monster with the same name from my deck in attack mode. The catch is that the special summoned monster has its attack reduced to 0 and its effect negated. So I banish Masked Knight LV3 from my grave to special summon Masked Knight LV7 from my deck!" He said as the spell card activated with a ghostly image of the small knight appearing in the middle of the field. As the monster clenched his fists a bright light engulfed him shrouding the entire field with its glow and with a 'pop' sound a new monster took his place encased in his gray armor and orange gems all over his body. Doing a spin in the air and ultimately landing in front of his summoner the monster drew his sword ready for battle.

"It's good to have you back old friend." He said quietly with his monster turning his head as if agreeing with him. "Next up I activate another spell card, 'Level Up'! This card, as it says, levels up a monster I control into another monster with the same name but different level. So I send Silent Swordsman to the grave and special summon Silent Swordsman LV7 to the field ignoring the summoning conditions!" he yelled out as the small swordsman was engulfed in a shroud of mist and when it lifted a new monster, a much older and mature one took his place, wearing the same clothing but with a much larger sword, swinging it in place before holstering it the monster landed beside Masked Knight as Sam's plan was coming together.

"Here he comes." Flare thought excitedly knowing what he was going to do.

As if reading her mind Sam went into his next move. "I overlay my two level 7 monsters and with these beings I create the overlay network! Lord of all the land, repel the darkness from whence it came. Appear now! 'Ajax the Master of LV's'!" as he was doing his summoning chant the two monsters before him turned into brown and yellow streams of light that went into the sky and then smashed down into a dark red lined portal that appeared in the ground. With an explosion of colors a new monster remained adorned with golden armor but with a bulky and muscular figure beneath it all. Showing off his skinny blonde beard that went down to his chest he swung his hammer that was as tall as he was before landing in front of his summoner ready for battle.

Ajax, the Master of LV's Attribute: Earth

"There he is… ever since you brought him out against Sgt. Walcroft I knew I wanted to face him." Flare replied admiring the monster in front of her.

With a sheepish grin and blush Sam waved his arms in front of him as he said. "Please, it's nothing really." He said as Ajax turned his head and gave Sam a glare making him recoil his statement. "You know what I mean." He said talking to his monster who turned his attention back to Flare and her Queen. "It's now that Ajax's effect activates! Once per turn, I can detach an overlay unit and select a LV card from my deck and add it to my hand. So I think I choose… this one." He said as a list of possible targets appeared in front of him, and immediately after his choice was selected his deck spat it out for him. "The spell card, LV Buster!"

"LV Buster!" the trio of Jace, Connor and Flare said at the same time knowing what that card meant to him.

"But that's the…" Flare said softly before being interrupted by Sam.

"I know. But I think I need to redeem myself and this is the only way I know how." He said seriously still having the spell card in his hand.

Flare's facial expression went from surprise to understanding as she nodded allowing him to play the card. "I activate the spell card 'LV Buster,' this card targets one LV monster I control and inflicts its attack in damage to you. So, I target Ajax with the attack power of 3000 and inflict that same number to you!" he called out as the spell card flashed and Ajax's hammer lit up with burning electricity in which he concentrated into a single bolt and shot it towards Flare. Unable to block the attack she was flung backwards skidding across the ground (Flare: LP- 4000 – 1000).

"Flare! You alright?" Sam called out worried fro his friend.

Weakly getting up and dusting herself off, Flare spoke back not in an angry or hurt tone but in a happy one. "I'm just glad you were finally able to hit my life points, it was lonely up there by myself." She said sarcastically.

"Humph. Well another dose is on the way. Ajax attack her Volcanic Queen now!" He issued to the warrior as he rushed the dragon-esque monster and winded up his hammer ready for the attack.

"I don't think so, I activate the effect of this guy from my hand, 'Scarlet Mystic.' This guy lets me target a fire attribute monster I control and have it gain 500 attack points during damage calculation only. Volcanic Queen fight back!" She retorted back as a woman adorned with a burning robe and long scarlet hair appeared on the field and melded with the volcanic monster on her side as it leaned back and shot out another lava ball that was on a collision course with Ajax (Volcanic Queen ATK: 2500 – 3000).

"Did you forget? Until the end of your next turn, Ajax cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects. Ajax continue your attack!" he called back as Ajax plowed through the lava ball with his massive body and smashed it into tiny pieces letting it shower the field as he went straight for the monster that created the attack. With a swing of his hammer nothing of the monster was left besides dust and ash.

"That was a good move. Didn't expect anything less." Flare said as her life point indicator blipped up unmoving from its 1000 point threshold.

"Thanks that was a good move yourself. Increasing your monster's attack so you won't take damage." He praised making her blush as a response. "I set a card facedown and end my turn." He said solemnly grabbing the card he drew this turn and set on his duel disk making it appear on the field. "This is my final card, the card I place my faith in. This turn will be do or die." He thought now getting back in the dueling mood.

Flare: LP- 1000 Sam: LP- 100

"Despite your praise it's none the less my turn now, Draw!" she said confidently now having fun in a competitive match and grinning at the card she just drew. "This is the final turn. I activate my facedown card the spell 'Fire Starter'! This card special summons a fire attribute monster from my hand ignoring any and all summoning conditions at the cost of banishing cards from my graveyard up to the level of that monster."

"What?!" he called out shocked to hear that there was such a card.

"That's right! I banish 8 cards from my grave; the monsters, Flamvell Firedog, Volcanic Scattershot, Slicer, Queen, and Shell. The spell cards Pyro Mania, Tri-Blaze Accelerator, and Card of the Forgotten Fire to special summon my ultimate beast Volcanic Doomfire!" she yelled out as the spell card flashed on the field and the images of the banished monsters and representations of the spell cards filled the field as they spiraled around in a circle getting faster and faster until a bright light was cast from the center and when it faded left the molten beast with lava coursing through its body emanating steam as it did take its new position in front of Flare.

Volcanic Doomfire Attribute: Fire

Sam never stopped being in awe over the great behemoth each time it was summoned, the power that came with it was near intoxicating. But being snapped from his daydream Flare spoke back up. "Battle! Doomfire attack his Ajax now!" she called out as the monster did as it was told and rushed the warrior as fast as he could.

Sam went wide eyed once more as he couldn't believe what he was hearing and neither could the audience as they openly yelled out their displeasure at the move. "Did you forget that Ajax can't be destroyed until my next turn?" he called out not understanding her motives.

"I didn't but that's why I have this! The other effect of Scarlet Mystic. By banishing this card from my graveyard a fire attribute monster other than the monster used to activate its first effect gains 500 attack points during damage calculation!" she retorted back proud of herself as the monster from before reappeared on the field and melded itself into Doomfire's fiery attack making it even stronger as the flames increased now encompassing the monster's entire arm (Volcanic Doomfire ATK: 3000 – 3500).

Instead of worry or the look of defeat on his face Sam had a smile. A smile that he had when he was having fun, something that given the recent events she had not seen since they parted when the tournament began. "This was fun." He simply stated leaving the floor open for her response.

"Yes, it was. It's good to have you back." She said back meekly glad to have her friend back from the depths of suffering. "This was our rematch. And I have to say we have to make another one here soon."

"Indeed." Sam started with as the stadium went quiet wondering if he had something to counter with or not. Flare had already figured it out by just the sheer expression on his face. The dopey look he got when he knew he had something that could turn things around. In the end she accepted it as she waved towards him allowing him activate it. "I activate the trap card, 'Bye Bye Damage'. When I take battle damage double of that amount will also be inflicted to you." He said quietly knowing full well what it does. As Doomfire's attack reached Ajax and made contact an explosion occurred that encompassed the entire playing field dropping both players life points to 0.

As the augmented reality disengaged the stadium was left silent, so silent that a pin drop could be heard. Soon enough the footfalls of the two duelists walking towards each other filled the stadium. The gentle click and clack of their shoes were gentle and feather footed, careful on not attracting too much attention. When they met they both had serious faces on but after not being able to hold it for too much longer Flare started laughing which made Sam burst out in return. After her fit Flare held out her hand in the shape of a fist, at first surprised to see it but eventually glad in the end Sam happily reciprocated as Jace and Connor started clapping in the audience. Soon more joined in and more after that and soon the entire stadium was filled with the sheering for the two duelists that could be heard for miles.

The MC who had been uncharacteristically quiet for most of the match now ran up to the two of them and lifted their hands in the air showing it to the crowd on hand celebrating their cumulative victory. "Ladies and Gents it is not often we get a tie breaker but when we do it was worth it. I invite you all to recognize our third place finishers, Flare Valentine and Sam Mitchell!" he yelled out making the audience give a standing ovation for the duo as they waved at a duel well played. Sam for getting over his fear of uselessness. And for Flare proving that you're past does not define who you are as a person. With a smile they were glad to have shared that duel together not as enemies… but as friends.

Elsewhere in the stadium…

"Yes." He started out with listening to the voice on the other line. "I understand."

"As a further note the two we have told you about have arrived at your location. We entrust that you will take care of them swiftly and without mercy." A deep voice stated on the receiver beneath the man's long hair.

"I understand, all for the glory of the Father." He repeated back giving the go to motto to say back to his superior.

"Bastion, we mean it. There cannot be any screw-ups. We are aware of your mishap with Yuta's friend Sam. We thought your power of the psyche was absolute. You weren't lying to us were you?" the voice continued to ask questioning him further.

Nervous, Bastion replied back with the quickest answer he could come up with. "Of course not Master Jupiter. You have my complete and utter faith and I will not allow it to happen again."

"It better not or it will be the box for you." The voice said back menacingly making Bastion shiver.

"Understood." He simply replied back.

"The Father is merciful." The voice said back on the phone before hanging up.

"The Father will not lead me astray." Bastion said to no one as the line disconnected automatically. With a heavy sigh he began walking up the stairs for the finals of the tournament that he had to win.

On top of the Stadium…

The wind rushed between their uniquely designed hair. One was the man's light brown hair with a single lock being yellow and the other was the teenage girl's long black hair that went into blue towards the end with a red highlight in a single lock of hair in front. Their runners still purring quietly in the afternoon sun as the teenager looked towards the older man and asked in an over confident but excited tone. "Is it time to crash the party yet, brother?"

The man chuckled as a smirk went across his face as he opened his eyes revealing the mixture of red and purple eyes. "Yes, I think it's time to show our host what it means to cross the Signer Keepers." He said as his right eye went completely maroon colored and a crimson dragon roared in the distance.
