Another epic fail on my behalf, sorry guys, but the end of the school year brings more work and a longer to do list then the beginning does! I'm down to one task, so I'm hoping to take more time for this story as well as crossover (CM Punk/Chicago Fire) I have in the works (I'm working on publishing it)...my plan for this summer is to read the 5000 books I've been buying and downloading and then neglecting and getting back into writing more seeing the Fall brings working full time and going back to school full time, which I'm sure will be quite the adventure...anyway I hope you like this one and I'll post again as soon as I can :) Thanks!
Phil squeezed Melissa's hand giving her a smirk to calm her nerves, "Can you believe the time is finally here? We're going to meet our son today! I don't think I've ever been so excited and nervous for something in my life, but I can't wait to hold him; once he's here nothing will ever pull me away." Melissa felt a sense of calm and happiness in his words; he really meant it, he was in this for the long haul, no matter what.
Dr. Levine came into the room all scrubbed up and ready to roll, "Are we ready to have a baby today?" Melissa gave him a weak smile, but nodded.
"Yes, we're very ready to meet him…"
"We?" Melissa's eyes met Dr. Levine's wondering why he was questioning her before she looked around the room finally noticing someone was missing.
"Wait, where's Phil?" She started to panic, "He was just here with me, where did he go?" Everyone in the room seemed to ignore her as they finished prepping for delivery.
"Okay Melissa here comes another contraction, are you ready to push?"
"No! I can't do this without Phil, he needs to be here! Please someone find him before he misses everything!" Tears of fear graced her face at the thought that he'd left her and she'd have to deliver a second child on her own, but her fears started to calm when she found Phil at her bedside again. She grabbed his hand pulling it close to her as he swept a stray hair out of her face.
"Thank God you're here, I thought you left. They want me to start pushing, I need you for this; I can't do it alone."
Phil's once excited expression faded as he shrugged his shoulders dropping her hand from his. "Well I'm sorry, but Vince just called and they need me for the European tour. Its big money and I have a flight in 15, so good luck with everything; make sure you send me a pic of the little guy!"
The expression of shock hit Melissa's face immediately as she hoped she'd heard him wrong, but as he turned to walk out of the delivery room, she lost it completely. "Phil! Please don't go…I can't do this alone!"
Melissa woke up in a cold sweat gasping for air. As much guilt as she felt for leaving Punk, she couldn't deny how she currently felt; she didn't want to be left alone and whether he meant to hurt her or not, that's exactly what he was doing by going on the road again. As she started to get a hold of herself, she began to realize that the bed wasn't just soaked in her sweat and the sharp pain in her abdomen reassured that she was in trouble.
Punk rolled over squinting at the blinding sunlight coming through the crack in his curtains; he ran a hand through his hair thinking about how he should've felt better after getting some sleep, but the truth was he didn't even remember falling asleep and after checking his phone and still not seeing anything from Melissa, he felt even worse. Punk fell back on the bed putting his forearm across his face to shield the sun hoping he'd be able to drift back into an unconscious state, but the sound of the front door closing had him jumping up and running downstairs.
"Melissa…is that you?" Punk ran down the stairs jumping the last three coming face to face with Brooke. He felt his heart drop to his stomach, but at the same time he couldn't help grabbing onto her and hugging her like it was the first time they'd met.
"Uhh, Dad…I can't breathe…" Punk let out a small laugh loosening his grip before looking her over to make sure she really was there and he wasn't hallucinating. "Are you okay? Why are you yelling for mom; is she okay?" Punk was still quiet as he tried to gather his thoughts, which startled Brooke even more. "Dad, you're starting to scare me…"
Punk quickly shook himself out of it knowing he had to let Brooke in on what was going on, though he was surprised that she didn't know figuring Melissa had taken her too.
"Let's sit down…" Brooke sat beside Punk on the couch still feeling scared that something had happened to her mom and baby brother. She'd never seen her dad look like he did right now; the bags under his eyes were back and his face was a ghostly white shade.
"Did something happen to mom and the baby?"
"I don't know…"
"What do you mean you don't know?" Punk let out a sigh as he pinched the bridge of his nose.
"How about I tell you what I do know…" Brooke gave him a subtle nod giving him the go ahead to continue. "I came home from the game last night and your mom was gone; her clothes were packed and I don't know where she is. I've tried calling and texting, but she hasn't contacted me yet. I don't know why she left, but I'm worried; she's due any day now and I don't know what's going through her head. I'm glad to see you though because last night I was afraid I'd never see you again."
Brooke couldn't hold back as she grabbed her dad, hugging him tight. "You don't have to worry about me leaving you, it'll never happen; I love you dad."
Punk felt his eyes start to water as he hugged Brooke closer, "I love you too kid."
Punk was forced to release his daughter as her phone rang interrupting their special moment, which gave Punk a few minutes to pull himself together as he decided to make a pot of coffee. Brooke answered, said a few words and quickly hung up rushing into the kitchen and grabbing her dad by the wrist.
"Let's go, we have to go!" Punk took his time as he poured a cup of coffee, blowing on it before he took a sip.
"What's the rush; is there a sale at the mall?" He gave her a small smile before noticing the serious look on her face, "What's going on?"
"We need to get to the hospital…mom's in labor…" Punk's coffee cup fell to the floor sending dark coffee and glass all over the floor, but he didn't have time to worry about it as he grabbed his keys following Brooke out the door.
Oh boy...
