Prompt #36: Mastermind - When the con was blown and half the team was captured, it all came down to them.

Words: 402

Lucille had temporarily become the Leverage team's command post. All two of them.

Yes, two.

In a very rare, very unexpected screw-up of fate, Nate was in jail, Sophie had been taken hostage, and Eliot was lying unconscious and shackled in the hospital. The Armenian Waltz con was officially a big blow-up of fail, and now only Parker and Hardison were left free to get their friends out, finish the job, and put the big F-U to their Mark.

Parker and Hardison. A Thief and a Hacker against a CEO, his corporate empire, and the shadowy Senator who was covering both their asses so as to win an election. The task was daunting, to say the least.

The remaining two thieves realized almost immediately that they were out of their league. They needed the others to accomplish anything remotely close to bringing down their Marks. That left only one option - actually getting the others back.

Some of the jobs were actually covered. Thanks to Sophie, Hardison could pass as a decent-enough Grifter. Thanks to Eliot, Parker could cover being the Hitter. And together, both of them could cover being a Mastermind.

Or so they thought.

"Peking Watch," Parker threw out.

"Need five people," Hardison countered. "Turnabout?"

"Need five people. Howabout the Black Twister?"

"Can't rig a blackout in a hospital without risking lives. Um, Danish Blackjack?"

"Need a casino, five Canary diamonds, and five people." Parker snapped her fingers. "Switcheroo!"

"Need a fake Carravaggio...and five people," he replied wearily. "Damn, this is a lot harder than Nate makes it look."

Parker slumped forward and rested her chin in her hands. "Are there any good cons we can use that only need two people?"

"Not many." Then he snapped his fingers. "Wait, could we play the Badge while runnin an Artful Dodger?"

The tried-and-true thief's con made Parker's eyes light up. "Never did it while playing the Badge. Should be easy."

"Okay, that gets Nate and Sophie. What about Eliot?"

"Florence Nightingale?"

"Your nurse bedside manner needs work, and we need three people for that."

"Can we save Eliot for last then?"

"...I don't have any problem with that."

Just a drabble that came to me. Hope you like it!
