A/N: So after analyzing and writing out the temple, I had fun :p but it's not over yet! Link still has to explore the rest of the Temple and defeats the Boss…which I hate as well. Oh yeah: is anyone else fishy about that blue fairy from TP—the one that always hang around with Link? Like what's up with that? Is she the reincarnated Navi or something? :3 Onwards!
Chapter 35: The Past is in the Past
I slowly shifted my feet into a fighting stance but the Darknut took the advantage of this since he performed a jump attack. Luckily, I moved out of the way by rolling on the ground to execute a back slice.
It seemed to be effective since a piece of his armor fell down.
Come at me bro—damnit.
When I leapt into the air to do a jump attack, the brute rammed its heavy shield at me forcing me to fall down to the ground. I gasped, rolling to the side as I just barely dodged the sword's plunging.
I've also noticed that his axe was stuck in the ground so I took this chance to strike him at the back with many vertical and horizontal slices until he got his composure back.
The Darknut swung his huge axe and I placed my shield in front of me. Of course, the axe was strong so it knocked me off balance. I dodged out of the way when he rammed his weapon on the ground, hearing the metal clanking.
When this happened, I quickly did a back slice which struck him at the back and that also made some of his armors to fall off. I swiftly hacked him away as many times as I can until he shoved me out. Again, I dodged his axe swing by flipping backwards.
However, I jumped too late since the axe brutally slammed at my side and I could've sworn I had heard something cracked. Groaning, I grunted when I got up only to duck down in order to avoid the deathly swing. As soon as the fiend lunged at me, I hurriedly struck him as many times as I can.
After quite some time, the armors were finally off and that allowed me to catch my breath. Angered, the Darknut threw his axe so I jumped to the side in order to dodge it. He then pulled out his sword and started to walk towards its prey.
I narrowly avoided the attacks but at one point, when I launched myself up in the air, the Darknut slashed his sword upward so that it made a vertical slice on my back and then he rammed his foot on my back, causing me to plunge to the ground.
Muttering some few colorful words, I flipped myself over to dodge the oncoming assault though I just faintly felt the breeze of the sword being brushed against my neck.
Once I was on my knees, I placed my hand at the back of my neck only to feel the warm liquid so I knew it was blood that was trickling down. Frowning, I charged at him only to clash at one another. He was strong and with his pressure added, my knees felt like they were going to buckle anytime.
Grunting, I put pressure into me so now we were evenly matched until I gathered all my strengths and finally shoved him backwards. As a result, I quickly sliced at him by performing the jump attack, followed by a back slice.
And then there was a time when I didn't had enough time to avoid the attack so all I could do was to hurriedly place the shield in front of me. For a moment, I could've sworn that I felt the shield being dent so when the attack was done, I peered down at my shield and I scowled at the outcome.
There was a very large dent that was slashed diagonally across.
I was not happy one bit.
"You're buying me a new one if this one breaks!" I exclaimed.
Of course, the Darknut didn't care since he kept on firing his attacks at me at an incredible speed that I didn't even have the time to avoid it.
There was a short pause so I took this opportunity to create a spin attack. The creature stumbled backwards but he swiftly regained his balance. He then sent another attack and then another one right after the first one so I misjudged his footsteps.
Because of that, it caused his sword to plunge right at my shoulder (almost close to my heart so I was scared when for a moment, I didn't feel my heart beat) and then he once again had his foot colliding into me, painfully so I flew back a bit until I collapsed on the floor. I didn't move (no, I was not dead…) since I just wanted to not get up…just to catch my breath. However, the brute thought that his enemy was dead so he turned around and went back to his normal position.
Goddesses, my shoulder hurts so bad…it's so stiff and sore that I could barely move it and it just so happens to be my sword arm. Cursed Darknut.
Wincing, I gradually came up but quietly as I did not want to alert the Darknut since I wanted to have an element of surprise and I did…somewhat.
I tip toed towards him (his back was facing me) and I started to bring down the sword into his back until the fiend had somehow sensed that I was behind him so he created an attack. Thankfully, I ducked down and then rolled on the ground before launching myself in the air and created a stab in his back.
The Darknut stumbled back and forth until he finally collapsed on his knees then went down, unmoving. I breathed out a sigh of relief as I went to get my sword. With a fancy swing that consisted of a diagonally slash then a side way twirl from the blade before the sword was in its place.
I too collapsed on my knees from exhaustion and wanted nothing more than to sleep.
That being said, I wonder how many days…or weeks I was in here…With that thought in my mind, I sprawled out on the ground as I stared at the ceiling.
After I regained myself, I made my way towards the gate way that got unlocked and went to grab an item that was from the chest. However, the moment I did, I couldn't help but to stare at it.
"Um…what is it?" I finally asked.
"Erm…" Midna replied as she was clueless until an idea came into her head. "Hey, do you think that's the copy rod from the translated text?" she asked.
I stared at it while an image came into my mind when I saw the drawing that contained the strange figures while one of the figures had a bird's head and in the middle, the figure held something—an object.
Could this be that object?
"…I don't know. Maybe…"
The strange item had a nice shade of silver-ish blue. It had a stick followed by what it looked like upward wings at the side of the holder. In the holder, it appeared to hold a glowing orb.
"But what am I supposed to do with it?" I questioned.
"Maybe something with the statue…" Midna offered.
I eyed the statue then back at the rod. It was a worth shot, right? I went back a few steps until I had a good view of the statue and started to aim at the hole that was in the center of the statue. When I got it, I flung the rod which in result, made the glowing ball to fly across the room til it settled itself in the hole.
Just like that, I waited for a few seconds until the lines on the statue glowed. The statue shivered a bit before it came alive as if it was the ball that made the statue to be alive.
I gaped at the statue and I could've sworn I heard a deep gurgling noise while I felt the vibration coming off from the rod. The noise went something along "your wish is my command" or something similar.
"Wow." Midna's eyes widened with awe and fascination whereas I grinned like an idiot.
"I'm gonna have a fun time with this." I replied, grinning widely.
Since I have the statue's command, I started to move the statue around to get the hang of the new device. Once I did, I then went out of the room with the statue following me.
…
You know…I feel like a maniac as I was holding this rod. I mean like if people saw this, what would they think?
"Oh no, there's a psychopath that holds a stick with a statue following him!"
I scowled at the thought.
When I reached the door from the mini boss room, I discovered that the statue couldn't go in so I retreated my steps until I saw a bell that had its designs glowing. Thinking, I moved the sculpture towards the bell and placed him on the spot. I watched the bell going down, swallowing it until the bell rose back up, being still once more.
I sniffed.
"What's the matter with you?" Midna asked, blankly.
"I don't have the statue, anymore." I sniffed.
She face palmed. "It probably got transported or something! Geez, for a hero you can really be an idiot."
Frowning, I stalked out of the mini boss room only to gasp with delight once I saw the ol' buddy of mine appeared right before me.
"See?" Midna told me, smugly.
Like before, I activated the statue but then I discovered that there was a gate so now I was back to my gloomy state.
"Any idea on how to break the gate?"
"…you really are clueless when it comes to new items, aren't you?" Midna muttered.
I shot her a dirty look. "And I suppose you know how every item works?"
She rolled her eyes. "Well…why don't you say something to it or whack your rod like a hammer!?"
"Ugh…um…Statue, this is your Master speaking. I command you to smash the gate."
Midna stifled a laugh.
"What?!" I demanded.
"That's so…lame!" she laughed, making me to growl. Just then, the statue brought its hammer-like weapon and smashed the gate with just one swing.
Midna made an 'o' on her lips as it was my turn to make a smug face.
"I'm sorry. What was that?"
She scowled. "You just got lucky from the lame command."
"It's not lame." I insisted.
"Right…and I'm a fairy."
I resumed my task which was leading the statue all the way back to the very main chamber while grabbing the Boss key as well. Once I reached the main chamber, I placed the statue at its original spot, watching the statue rotating around until it stood still.
The patterns on the golden door came to life as the glow outlined it before the door slid open to reveal another door. Once I entered through the door's entrance, there were lots of traps and gaps such as Beamos, blade traps and huge rolling axes that were rolling on the floor.
In order to reach the opposite side I had to jump across the first gap but I just barely made the first jump since I was dangling with one arm—the good one, not the bad one then pulled myself up. After going through the obstacles, I made it to the big door so I used the big key.
Like many others, the lock turned around before it fell down with a loud THUD and the door opened, allowing me to go inside to the boss of the temple.
Upon entering it, the first thing that greeted me was darkness save for some lights that were spread through the room but it did very little as it was shining dimly.
"Link…do you get the feeling that we're being watched?" Midna asked, quietly.
"I…" I furrowed my eyebrows. Actually, I did. I looked up and gawked once I found what was staring at us.
It was a huge spider that lingered on the ceiling and like any other spiders, it has eight hairy legs and from what I could tell, its body was very hairy as well while the upper part—where it contained the eye—looked like it was dressed with armor. Suddenly, the eye opened and it rolled in its spot until it met its intruder.
I felt uneasy when the eye was staring at me with such an intense glare that it almost made me to cower. Almost.
The spider began to crawl around the ceiling while I had my eyes glued to the gigantic spider. The first thing that made me to think was that this boss's game was almost similar to the gigantic eel from Lakebed Temple as both of the creatures had its eyes as its weak point.
Going with that idea, I took out my bow and arrows and aimed at the eye which is now closed. Of course, this was a bit difficult since the spider kept on moving around and I had to look everywhere for the animal. When it stopped crawling, the eye was opened so I quickly fired the arrow which struck the eye.
The spider quivered as it fell down from the ceiling and right in front of the statue. I got out my rod and flung the golden ball in the middle of the statue. The statue came to life as I quickly spoke the command. The massive fist crushed the spider, forcing it to crumble from the impact.
After a while, the spider regained itself then went to crawl to the ceiling.
This time, Armogohma started to drop down loads of baby Gohmas which made me to cringe at the disturbing sight. Once all of the Gohmas were defeated (though the last one was stubborn as it kept on running away but that's beside the point), I suddenly saw the room's light being changed into a reddish orange one.
Midna screeched out, ordering me to move out of the way. If it wasn't for her, I would probably be burned to death from the laser…that seemed to be following me around until it stopped.
I didn't had the time to shoot at the eye since it got closed and the spider started to sneak away once again. This time though, I struck the eye before it could even start the laser. Like before, Armogohma dropped down to the ground and I used the sculpture to smash at the hairy creature that recoiled in agony.
On the last hit, the massive fist smashed at the spider. The spider crumbled with defeat, unable to move any longer. But, I gave a blank stare when I saw the eye (which fell out of its body) that was surrounded from the baby Gohmas.
The heck…?
The Gohmas scurried away as it carried the eye. Sighing, I went to follow it until I got bored and struck the eye with the arrow a few times until the strange eye creature gave out a screech and it finally collapsed with defeat.
Swirls of light flew into the semi-dark chamber, creating an object in which happened to be another Mirror Shard. The shard floated into my hands while Midna emerged out of my shadow.
"Three of the mirror shards are ours!" Midna exclaimed, happily.
I haven't seen her this happy since the day she found out about the shattered Mirror of Twilight.
"Just one left!" she told me, taking the shard from her hand hair. "Link…You saw how nasty that monster was, right?"
I nodded.
"The evil within the shards is more powerful than you can imagine…You know, we could be assembling something truly terrible here…It could be something that we'll ultimately have to destroy…We have to hurry! Let's find the last shard, Link!" Midna responded softly while creating a portal.
"We have to reach the sky! That's where the last shard is supposed to be!"
I smiled at her then walked towards the portal. Like many times, the portal transported me into the particles of twilight, making me to be out of here only to be warped back into the entrance where I had first entered.
I sighed while giving this temple one last look before going through the void. It's sad to know that the Temple of Time from the future is just in ruins whereas the only way to truly see the temple in one piece is to go back in time…
I squeezed my eyes shut tight when I felt the familiar feeling that was creeping through my body until my feet slammed on the firm ground. Of course, I was still sick since I fought the urge to vomit right there.
"Well done, adventurer!" a cheerful voice snapped me back to reality.
I looked down to see Ooccoo.
"Ooccoo sees what she was looking for. Goodness, yes! It's the Dominion Rod you found in the temple!"
"Domini—what?" my eyes widen. "Oh! The rod!"
She nodded. "But that thing has been around for quite some time. I can see from here that its magic has been exhausted. Ooh, what am I to…I thought at last I could return to the sky…And I have completely forgotten the spell that would once again bestow it with magic…"
"Spell?"
"It can't be helped. I suppose I'll just have to look for the statues that respond to the rod…" she replied, sighing. "It's decided! That's what we'll do! That's what we'll do, indeed!"
"Do what?!" I exclaimed.
She just smiled. "Well, Ooccoo is on her way! See you again!"
With that, she scurried away.
"Well, that was weird…" I muttered though Midna came out of my shadow only to fly after Ooccoo but it was too late since she was already gone.
"Hey! Wait! What did you do to the Dominion Rod?!" she exclaimed even though it was already too late.
She sighed, flying back towards me. "…She's gone. I suppose a useless rod is really just more baggage, but…what are you going to do?" she then paused. "Hmm…Did she just say something about returning to the sky?"
I nodded. "Yeah but I don't know what that means though. You think there's a city in the sky or something." I smirked, chuckling slightly.
Midna stared at me as if she was actually taking my words in.
"Wait! I don't actually mean it! I'm not even sure if it's possible for the sky to even have a city!" I exclaimed.
"But the last piece of the mirror is also said to be in the heavens…" she pointed it out.
"Now I'm really doubting my words."
"If we can restore magic to the Dominion Rod, maybe it'll come in handy!"
"At least I know where my next stop is…" I muttered.
"Yeah to Kakariko to get yourself fixed up." she responded.
"But Midna! I don't want to lie in bed again! Do you not know how boring it is?!" I whined. "Besides I'm fine."
She raised an eyebrow before having her hand touching my injured shoulder. I gave a yelp of pain, glaring at her.
"What was that for?!"
She smirked. "Yeah you're so not in pain. Alright, next stop is Kakariko Village!" she chirped as I muttered before I felt myself being a wolf then got transported out of the Sacred Grove.
A/N: Aweh, poor Link. He has to stay in bed…again. Well, he's fault for being so careless :p
Link: No, it's you that always make me to be injured.
Me: *smirks*
