Kate walked out of the home of the second male victim that was found. She slowly made her way to the Jeep and got in. Pulling out her phone she checked her voicemail; there was a message from Sam saying her was done at the police station and was heading back to the motel. She also had a text from Dean, saying he was picking up a pizza and going back to the motel.
Kate hoped they both had useful information, because she felt like she came up empty. Turning the jeep on she pulled out and headed back to the motel to change out of her skirt and eat.
By the time she made it back, Kate was too hungry to even care about changing her clothes; that would have to wait till later. She knocked on the door and waited till Sam came and let her in.
"There better be some pizza left." She said walking into the room. Without saying anything Dean lifted the top of the box to show her that there was still some left for her.
"Now that you are back we can go over everything." Sam said closing the door and ready to get to work.
"I hope you both were able to get some useful information" Kate said as she sat down at the table and took a slice of pizza.
"The widow didn't want to talk to you?" Dean asked taking a sip from his beer.
"No, I couldn't get her to stop talking about her husband. But I don't know if any of it will be helpful."
"Why don't you tell us what you have." Sam suggested.
"Alright." Kate said taking out a notepad, "His wife gave me a rundown of his day to day life. Nothing seems odd about it. He gets up at 6:15 every morning. Showers, gets dresses, eats and leaves for work at 7:45. He eats lunch at his desk, works till 4:45. He comes home reads the paper; they eat dinner at 5:30. And after dinner he watches a few TV shows and is in bed by10:00. " Kate read off her pad.
"Wow, that man had a boring life." Dean commented.
"What does he do for a living?" Sam asked, ignoring his brother.
"He works for a company who does data processing."
"Maybe they work together?" Sam wondered out loud.
"Don't think so," Dean said, "The first guy worked for some big company called 'World Global shipping'. Doesn't that sound like a dumb name for a company? They are saying the same thing two…" Dean stopped talking when he saw the look his brother was giving him. "Any way, I wasn't able to get much on this guy. I talked to his sister who hasn't seen him in the last five months. She said he was always traveling and when he was home he was always out at a bar or club. She made it sound like he, liked to have fun."
"Maybe they meet at a bar or something?" Kate said hoping they would be able to find a connection between the two men.
"I don't think these two men partied at the same places, if you know what I mean." Dean said as he placed his beer on the table.
"You're probably right, his wife never said anything about going drinking."
"Did she say if he did anything besides work?"
"They played golf at their club on the weekends, and every second Tuesday of the month he would go to some cigar shop." Kate found in her notes.
"Why don't we look into the cigar shop and the club tomorrow." Sam suggested, before he went on telling them what he was able to get from the police station. "From what I've read over in the two police reports, nothing seems to give them any reasons to think there was any foul play. They believe they both guys had heart attacks."
"Well at least we have some possible leads." Kate said leaning forward, putting her face in her hands at the same time Sam's phone started to ring.
"Be right back." He said before taking the call and stepping outside.
"You don't seem happy about our leads." Dean said putting his hand on her shoulder, "This tends to happen, small leads, leads that are dead ends, or people aren't as helpful as we want them to be. We'll figure this out. It's not a dead-end; there are a few things we still can to look into. We can talk with the people they worked with.
"I know; you're right." Kate said lifting her head up.
"So why is this hunt getting to you?"
"Everyone believes that these men died from a heart attack, when we know that it was probably something else. I want to be able to tell their families what really happened to them, but we can't."
"You're a good person Kate." Dean gave her a smile; he could see how much this meant to Kate.
"So are you." She said softly.
Dean laughed to himself. He has never considered himself to be a good person and neither do must people that he meets. But Kate somehow could always see the good in him and what he has done.
"Not many people would agree with you on that."
"You spent your life hunting down ghosts and monster to save others."
"That's not really how other people…"
"It doesn't matter what other people think about it." Kate cut Dean off. "They don't get to see what I see."
"Yeah?" Dean leaned back in his chair, "What is it you see?" He gave her a smirk. Kate looked down at her hands before looking up at Dean for a few moments.
"A man who would give his life for people he doesn't even know. A man, who would do anything to save his family,." Kate stopped and looked down at the floor before she continued, "Whether you choose to believe it or not Dean…you are a good guy."
"How is it that you only see the good in me? I've done a lot of things that would give me a first class ticket down stairs if it wasn't for my deal."
"I'm not saying you're a saint." Kate laughed, "But not every sinner is the devil."
"Stop! Now you're starting to sound like a shrink." Dean said holding up his hand to stop her from saying anything more. The two started laughing as Sam walked back into the room.
"That was the police station." He said closing the door behind him. Kate and Dean stopped and looked up at him. "Another male body was found; they said it was a heart attack."
"Burn mark?" Dean questioned.
"Behind the ear."
