Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon.
Three months. Three long-ass months. I sighed as I flew towards the Sky Pillar. It had been three months since the portal had been opened, and sure enough, Pokémon had poured through. People had been apprehensive at first, but after a few days, they got used to each other, and after a few more days, humans and Pokémon were back to the bond they had had. I smiled as I reminisced. Sure, it wasn't perfect, Nevermore and the Free Ring popped up once in a while, but nothing the Revivers couldn't handle. If there was a Pokémon related problem, a legendary in the region would check it out, and if necessary, call the regional Reviver in. We had regular status updates, but nothing too big.
Anyways, I was flying towards the Sky Pillar to check in with Rayquaza, the captain of the Hoenn region. I landed on top of the pillar, and sure enough, Rayquaza was waiting for me. He huffed. "What took you so long?"
"Sorry. Air current threw me off a bit. Status report?"
"Nothing much. The other legendaries haven't reported anything interesting. Except…"
I perked up. "Except?"
He frowned. "Registeel sent in a status that's got me a bit worried. Apparently, there's a strange figure going in and out of Fortree, but he doesn't think it's the Ring or Nevermore. You gonna check with him?"
I nodded, and without another word, I took off. Once I was out of sight of the Pillar, I punched the air. Finally, something exciting going on! These last three months had been as boring as hell!
I landed just south of the city at the cave Registeel tended to stay. I looked around for him, and he came out of the cave, saying, "Good, you're here."
"Yeah, I'm here. Rayquaza didn't give me the details."
He pulled out a clipboard from somewhere. "Single male figure, enters the city at sundown, leaves at sunrise. Can't tell what he's doing, but he boasts no insignia of wither Nevermore or the Free Ring." He looked at me with those red eyes that made it impossible for me to tell what he was thinking. I suggest at sundown, you go in and check it out. I don't want something to happen that we could've prevented."
I nodded. "Monitor the city. If you see something, come in after me once you call backup. Got it?"
He nodded, and I went into the city, in human form. Being human definitely helped. Staying in human form in a city for a while lowered the guards of any enemies and also put me in a perfect place for a sting.
Darkness fell, and I hid in a warehouse on the air strip we had met Ariel. The guardians were still around, but since the portal had been opened, they tried to find new lines of work, some more than successful than others. I heard Ariel was doing well as a pilot for the airfield.
That train of thought stopped when I heard a noise. I looked outside, and I saw a figure. It was too dark to tell anything about him, but he started to walk away from my warehouse. I followed him quietly, and he went to the other side of the city and went into the Weather Institute. I shuddered, transformed behind a nearby tree, and followed him in.
I looked around for him, and I glimpsed him going up the stairs. I followed quietly, and when I got close to the top, I started to spew Spectral Mist. I was definitely hidden, and I climbed to the top. The figure was sitting at a table with two others. I got closer, and the figure I had been following said, "Hm…seems a little dark…" Something clicked, and a lamp on the table lit up. I looked at the other figures and recognized one of them as General Raven. Thank Arceus I was hidden.
I looked at the other figure, a woman. She had a stern look on her face and horn-rimmed glasses. She held a cane, which she held impatiently. She spoke after the figure. "So why do you waste our time?"
The figure chuckled. "Why do you assume I waste it?"
"Because you seem a little…close to White Fury."
"Well, I'm Black Fury. What do you expect?"
I looked at the figure sharply, and sure enough, he was dressed in my usual outfit, but all in black. He adjusted his hat and said, "You want to kill White Fury. So do I. Between the three of us, I think we could do it."
The woman huffed indignantly and looked at Raven. "Do you trust him?"
Raven grinned. "Not a bit, Escra, but between our organizations, he might be out best bet to killing White Fury."
Escra huffed again. "The Free Ring was doing fine on its own, thank you."
"If that's the case, why aren't his Rings on your wall?"
She had no response to this, which gave me time to process. An evil White Fury together with the leaders of the two remaining groups out to kill me…this was definitely interesting. I got slightly closer.
Black Fury looked at both of them in turn and said, "Enough bickering, you two. We have work to do. Y'know, killing White Fury and all."
Raven looked at him. "Why do you want him dead?"
Black Fury simply shrugged. "Just my nature. Now…on to business."
Escra interjected, "I say we pool our troops, storm Mauville, and-"
"And what? Watch the troops get slaughtered? I say we take his fellow teammates, force him to surface, and kill him!"
Black shook his head. "No good, Raven. The teammates are also superpowered, so even capturing one of them would be difficult." He sighed. "I start to wonder why I called you two into this…"
Raven glared at him. "Hey, be grateful! We're the leaders of two powerful organizations!"
"Yeah, and where has that gotten you? You, Escra, and Devon have all tried to kill this prick, and let's just say you two got out better than Devon."
The other two looked at the table. Escra spoke softly. "White Fury killed him. He has to pay."
Black laughed. "The Devon Corporation's rich enough as it is! I don't think White Fury's pocket money will help them."
Raven laughed. "They need all the help they can get! Since White Fury killed Devon, the company went bankrupt. No such thing anymore."
Black shrugged. "Well, killing Devon definitely was bad for him."
Escra looked at him with confusion. "What are you talking about?"
"Never mind…I've said too much already. Especially with present company."
Raven and Escra looked at each other and back at him. "What, you don't trust us?"
"No, but that's not what I was talking about." Out of nowhere, he uppercut me, I hit the ceiling and landed on the table. I got up quickly and leapt away from the table. "How did you know?!"
He smirked and stood. "I know things. Now…shall we get down to business?"
"What business?"
"Why, killing you, of course! Didn't you get that?"
