Klaus + Hayley (+ Camlijah): Love Letters on the Rocks
It has been my desire to touch you for so long. I have waited centuries for you to arrive in my life and now that you have, I finally feel complete. I have a family, my brother is redeemed, with your help and I can finally get out of my chest and confess. I am willing to succumb into my deepest desires. The love I feel for you is something I have rarely felt with any woman in my past. Your wit, your beauty, your charisma and your very existence has led me to believe that I can have someone special in my life and it can indeed last.
There have been some ups and downs for us along the way, mainly where my brother is involved…but I want you to know that none of that has ever stopped me from falling in love with you at last. Forgive me that it has taken me so long to realize my feelings for you.
"Elijah!" Hayley called out and walked into the parlor, and the Original startled, dropping the pen on a table and sliding the finished letter in an envelope. Hayley walked inside and saw him trying to stash the letter into his suit, but it wouldn't get inside. Hayley looked smug as she walked over to him and took the envelope and reading the letter which was inside. Elijah didn't even try to stop her. He thought that he might as well have an opinion from a member of his family. "Already moving forward with Cami, huh?" Hayley asked him. "I happen to find her quite fascinating. I can't remember the last time I thought about someone, a woman, this much."
"Well, I think that it's great and I am happy for you. It's a great way of expressing your feelings but…if you want my opinion; I would have preferred the man I love to actually express his feelings towards me face to face, Elijah. Words on paper don't really cut it like in the old days. This is the twenty-first century." A red blush appeared on Elijah's face as he tried to hide it. "You know just as well as I do, Hayley, that I have a certain problem with expressing my feelings to the woman I fall in love with. Camille is different…from any other woman I have ever been with. "Gee, thanks." Hayley told him with her hands on her hips. That joke brought a smile on Elijah's face as he did remember that he and Hayley used to be involved once…but they realized that they could never really have a romantic relationship.
Their relationship stayed on the friendship zone as Hayley started getting closer and closer to his brother. "Very well…I suppose I could try to forget about this particular letter and tell her everything I need to say in person." Elijah said with a smile on his face as he took the letter from Hayley. "Come with me to my room, please. I want to ask your opinion on something." Hayley told him and the two headed to her room where Elijah could notice dresses being scattered everywhere. "What is going on here?" "Klaus wants to have dinner with me tonight." Hayley whispered and bit her lip.
Elijah's face lightened up. He could not believe that after so many months, his brother was finally letting go of his pride and showing affection to the woman he so clearly loved. "He asked you out for dinner?" "Yeah, I was a bit surprised myself." "I believe it must be pleasant for you. The two of you have been hiding your feeling for one another long enough. I believe it is time that Niklaus informed you of his feelings." "I think he will. And you know that I am in love with him." Hayley told Elijah with a smile. "Yes, I do." "So which dress should I choose? I would have asked Rebekah but she is on a date herself with Marcel." Elijah tapped his chin for a moment before saying, "I believe the red dress will do." "Great! Thanks! I hope both our dates will work out great tonight." Hayley told him. "Dates?" "You are planning on taking Cami out to tell her how you feel, don't you?" "On the same night as you and Niklaus?" "Why not? We can double." "I am not sure my brother would be pleased. If there is one thing that I know about him is that when he expresses his deepest emotions, he prefers it to be less crowded."
"I am sure that it will be fine. And I can help you with Cami if you are having any troubles." "Yes, thank you, Hayley." Elijah said and pulled her in for a hug. What neither one of them realized was that Klaus was at the door at that moment, watching them hug. Elijah pulled away and without realizing it, left the letter on the bedside of Hayley's table, leaving the room, just as Klaus came inside. Hayley smiled when she saw him come inside. "What are you doing here?" she asked him and he showed her a grin before pulling her to him for a passionate kiss, which Hayley rarely managed to get from him.
Her eyes fluttered closed as he pulled back and caressed her face. "What brought this up?" Hayley asked him in a whisper as he connected their foreheads. "Our relationship, love. I hold strong feelings for you the way I never held for any other woman before. I don't wish to ever lose you." Hayley frowned but then shook her head and cupped his cheeks, kissing him gently and saying, "You are not going to lose me, Klaus. I love you." Klaus smiled as he heard her words and kissed her once more. "I better get ready." Hayley finally told him and kissed his cheek, heading into the bathroom, as Klaus noticed the letter Elijah left on Hayley's bedside. Opening it, he read it with anger washing all over him.
…
If Elijah had been home, Klaus knew that he would have immediately confronted him about that letter. It was left on her table, so the woman he loved would read. Nighttime fell and Klaus was reading the letter one more time before crumbling it into little pieces and throwing them into the trash can, as Hayley was finishing getting ready in the bathroom. She had managed to inform him that Elijah and Camille would be joining them on this date, and the timing couldn't have been more inconvenient. "Are you okay?" she asked him as she came out of the bathroom, dressed in red, and her makeup on her face was outlining her natural beauty.
She touched his cheek and Klaus looked at her, startled. "Klaus." She whispered, with concern and he finally had a chance to look at her. Her eyes did show concern and he was wondering whether to ask her or not. No, he wouldn't. Even if he did ask her to have dinner with him out in public, he still had his pride, Elijah would be there and he was sure that he would be able to confront his brother, face to face. "I am fine, little wolf." Placing kisses on her neck and lips, he left the room, without looking at her. He looked frustrated out the window of the compound and noticed Elijah walking Camille inside. How could he do this? Elijah never seemed the type to take away his happiness. Klaus threw a chair against the wall, angrily and then growled, "He is staying away from her."
The car ride to the restaurant was quiet. Klaus was driving, with Hayley next to him, looking out the window. Elijah and Camille were also sitting quietly in the backseat, hoping that once they reached the restaurant, this would no longer be so awkward. Klaus was looking at his brother through his rearview mirror to see a confused and nervous expression on his face. The Original Hybrid looked at the road and braked hard when they reached the front of the restaurant, making Hayley give him a very surprised look, as his outburst. Klaus got out of the car as Elijah led Camille inside. Klaus was waiting for the moment to join them, when Hayley grabbed his hand and pulled him back next to the car. "I know something is bothering you. Please tell me what it is so I can help you." Hayley insisted to him. "Everything is alright, love." Klaus said to her with a smile, kissing her soft lips, making her close her eyes and give in to the passion for a moment. But this was not going to make Hayley loosen the reins.
"Klaus, I know from what Elijah told me that…asking me to dinner was a big thing for you." "Did he now? What else has he told you about me?" Klaus snapped at once, his eyes flaring with anger. "You don't need to be so upset. Who can understand the situation better than me? We're a lot alike, remember?" Hayley asked him, touching his chest with one hand and placing the other on his cheek. Her touches were once again making it impossible to maintain control. It was made him knew all along. He had always kept the control in a relationship between him and a woman and no one, in his one thousand years of existence, no woman, no Tatia, Caroline, Genevieve or even Camille has made him lose control, the way Hayley has. She was his different little wolf, the woman he knew he could not let go.
"I don't appreciate you and Elijah talking about me this much." "He is helping me understand…not that I don't, it's just that he is your brother and he has known you for much longer than I have." "Then ask me anything you wish. There is no need to consult Elijah." "Klaus, what is really going on here? I saw the way you look at Elijah, with anger and spite. What is it? Did you two fight?" Hayley asked him. Klaus shook his head, until he noticed Elijah and Camille coming out of the restaurant and coming over to them. "Not yet." Was his answer. He needed to set Elijah straight once and for all. "Is everything alright?" Cami asked, concerned. Klaus' nostrils flared as Elijah asked him, "Brother, are you alright?"
"It has been my desire to touch you for so long. I have waited centuries for you to arrive in my life and now that you have, I finally feel complete. I have a family, my brother is redeemed, with your help and I can finally get out of my chest and confess. I am willing to succumb into my deepest desires. The love I feel for you is something I have rarely felt with any woman in my past." Klaus had begun saying. He had memorized that letter. Every single word of it and Elijah's eyes widened as he heard what his brother was saying, looking at Cami from time to time, to see the confused look on her face. Hayley was just as confused that Klaus knew about this letter, but she had no idea why he was so mad.
"Your wit, your beauty, your charisma and your very existence has led me to believe that I can have someone special in my life and it can indeed last. There have been some ups and downs for us along the way, mainly where my brother is involved…but I want you to know that none of that has ever stopped me from falling in love with you at last. Forgive me that it has taken me so long to realize my feelings for you." Everyone remained silent and Elijah finally cleared his throat, "Brother, I…" Klaus poked him in the chest. "I never thought that you would go as low as to try to take her away from me."
"So, that is it then, isn't it? That is the real problem here. Cami!" Hayley suddenly snapped and looked at Klaus with her own anger. "What are you talking about, love?" Klaus asked her. "Just forget it! I can't believe that I bought all of your lies. I never thought that you would dare use me to make someone else jealous. I am not just some girl, Klaus! I am a part of your family! I am the mother of your child! I am a Queen, who is not to be disrespected and used like this!" She pulled the necklace, featuring an onyx and throwing it to the ground. Klaus looked down at it in shock, as he realized she was wearing the necklace he had given her when he had confessed his feelings for her. "Hayley, what are you doing?" he asked in disbelief, as he picked up the necklace off the floor. But Hayley had already used her speed to leave. Cami was rubbing her forehead and whispered, "I am so confused right now. I don't know what to say."
Elijah grabbed a hold of Klaus' suit and asked him, "What the hell are you doing, brother?" "What the bloody hell are you doing?" "That letter. How did you manage to get a hold of it?" Elijah asked him, furiously. "You have been so careless trying to avoid your motives. You left the letter on Hayley's bedside table for her to read." Elijah gasped as he could now remember leaving the letter there by accident. "You think…that letter was for Hayley?" he asked, running a hand through his hair. "Why would you leave it there?" "Niklaus, that letter was for Camille! I was asking Hayley's opinion for…!" Elijah stopped his yelling as he could see Cami getting uncomfortable next to him.
"You wrote that letter for me?" Camille asked him, a smile appearing on her face. "Yes, I did. And I went to Hayley's room afterwards to help her choose the perfect outfit for her date tonight with Niklaus. But as it looks like, my brother has managed to ruin both dates by assuming that I had written that letter for Hayley and making her believe that there is still something between you and Niklaus." Cami covered her mouth with her hand and looked at Klaus. "You have to go talk to her. You can't lose her like this. She is the woman you love, Klaus. Go now!" she insisted. "What am I supposed to say to her?!" Klaus yelled out in anger, starting to breathe in out, in confusion and embarrassment. "Persuasion, brother. Persuasion. Go." Elijah informed him and before he knew it, Klaus was gone.
Cami turned to the Original Vampire with her hands crossed over her chest. "So, this is really true, huh? You wrote me a love letter?" she asked him. Elijah turned to her and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Advised by Hayley, I should learn that words on paper are not the same as the words spoken from the mouth, directly to the person you love. So, I am going to say it in person, as I had planned for tonight. I have fallen in love with you, Camille." Cami smiled at him and kissed him gently on the mouth, wiping off the lipstick print she has left on his lips. "I love you just as much. Thank you for this."
…
She was sitting on a bench in the park when he finally found her and she was letting the tears drop from her eyes as he stepped forward to her. Hayley sensed him and immediately stood up, but he would not let her go that easily and he pulled her back to him, kissing her passionately. "What are you doing?" she almost screamed in his mouth. Klaus looked at her, innocently as if he had no idea what she was talking about. "Why don't you just go to Cami and…?" Hayley was once again interrupted by a kiss she simply could not refuse. Her heart was taking over her mind. She could not be in control, but then again, neither could he.
"There is nothing going on between me and Cami. She is in love with Elijah. You know that." He whispered in her ear as he felt her calm down from the kiss. Her eyes were closed but tears were no longer streaming down her face. "That doesn't change the fact of how you feel." "I thought Elijah had written that letter to you and I lost my mind, Hayley. Believe me." He cupped her cheeks to make her look at him, as she gently placed her hands on top of them, letting go of a small laugh. "God you really are an idiot! I love you!" she exclaimed and placed kisses on his palms and he smiled seductively. "Perhaps it is time you knew of my feelings for you, little wolf. Feelings of complete love." He whispered and kissed her once again, making her giggle at his stupidity.
