It was the day before Sam's birthday and the boys 5th birthday, Andy had took some vacation time to prepare for the busy weekend ahead. Today would be a party for the twins friends and tomorrow would be a party for them and Sam with all of thier family and friends. She had just dropped the boys at the playgroup and was on her way to the store to pick up the last bits and pieces she needed.
She grabbed Jacob out of the back and sat him in the trolley just as her phone started to ring. She smiled as she realised it was Sam
" hey babe, how's it going"
" well I've only just started, just got to the store"
"You know i wish I was helping you "
" really? Well you will be there later though right, I mean you'll be finished on time"
"You bet, not anything gonna stop me helping at my boys children's party"
"You know with that sarcasm I'm inclined not to believe you"
"How's my jakey boy"
"Well he keeps asking for nick"
"Okay Collins is not babysitting ever again" Sam laughed and Andy knew he was fake
Pouting the other end of the phone.
"Listen ain't you got work to be getting with because I really need to get on. Remember your picking the boys up on your way home so if you do run late let me know ASAP"
"Okay, love you and don't get to stressed"
"Love you, see you later'
Ever since the other week when nick and Juliet had babysat for them whilst they went on a double date with Steve and Tracy, Jacob had been obsessed with nick, Said his name all day and Sam was getting upset.
Jacob Thomas Swarek, well he was a surprise. Just after the twins had turned 2 Andy had started to feel really tired, she put it down to her new routine with the boys and becoming detective so she waved it off, it wasn't till she was 5 months she actually realised she was pregnant. To say they were both shocked was an understatement, Sam was ecstatic and was instantly convinced he was gonna get his daughter he wished for, Andy took a bit longer to come around to the idea, the idea she had not long been detective and the twins were only 2 had got her a bit stressed, she eventually realised she wanted this baby as much as she wanted mason and Jesse, they decided to keep the sex a surprise again and on 17th September 2018 Jacob was born. Sam was gutted it wasn't a girl but his instant bond with Jacob changed that. He adored his brothers and although they got fraustrated with him they loved him too.
Andy pushed the trolley down the desired aisles. As she was deciding which snacks to get for the party she hears Jacob getting excited, she turned around to see Sam standing there.
" what are you doing here?" She asked as she threw a pack of cookies into the trolley.
"Well it was quiet and I managed to finish my paperwork so I sweet talked Oliver to let me go earlier and said I'd make up the hours when I'm back on Tuesday, I was already driving when I called you" he leaned forward and gave her a kiss "so put me to work, what do you need doing" he said as he snakes his arm around her waist.
. "Well well well, I think we will have to arrest you two for indecent exposure" Sam and Andy's head shot around and saw nick and Devon Anderson standing there. Devon Anderson was Izzy's boyfriend who started at 15th as a rookie and nick was his TO. Sam and Andy knew him fairly well through Izzy and so helped him as much as possible.
Jacob started to say nicks name excitedly. Nick walked towards him and tickled his sides resulting in immense laughter from the 2 year old.
"Well what are you guys doing here, shouldn't you be out catching real criminals" Andy asked.
"Had reports of indecent exposure" nick was cut off by a bag of chips to his head which he tossed into the trolley, "nah I'm just messing with you, we were across the street finishing up with a possible domestic and I saw sams truck pull in"
"Ahh so your stalking me Collins, is that so you can steal my boy away from me" Sam said with a smirk.
" as if I'd mess with one of your kids, I like my face " nick said as he was tickling Jacob.
'Just so you know where we stand" Sam said patting him on the back.
"So Devon how you getting on with nick" Andy asked.
"Yeah I'm learning a lot, he's really cool and understanding and actually takes the time to explain everything"
"Well lucky you, my TO was impulsive, wouldn't let me drive and was always so serious"
"What happened to him" Devon asked innocently. Nick Sam and Andy all started laughing
"She married me" he said with a grin plastered across his face.
"Why did I not know that" Devon whispered to himself. "Don't get any ideas Anderson" nick said as he gave Andy a hug "we better get going and I will see you guys tomorrow"
"Bye Collins, Anderson " "bye nick, Devon" Jacob started to cry that nick have left.
"Right let's finish this" Sam said to said as he put jacob on his shoulders.
The twins party had gone smoothly, all thier friends had left and Sam and Andy were doing thier tag team bath time routine getting the boys ready for bed.
Both were running around shouting "it's our birthday tomorrow" whilst Andy was sorting Jacob out and Sam had stepped out to take a call. Once they were in bed Sam and Andy set to work sorting out thier presents ready for the morning, no doubt they would be up early with all the excitement.
The next morning the boys had woken up at around 8 which Andy thought was fairly good for them, it must have been the excitement of the day before. She kept them downstairs in order to give Sam more time asleep. Trying to keep them out of the lounge was a challenge but the art of distraction always worked. When she took them back upstairs to thier rooms to pick out thier clothes and when she needed the toilet they had sneaked into Sam.
"Daddy wake up its our birthday" mason was on top of Sam bouncing rather excitedly. Jesse was on the bed leaning next to his dad. Jesse was the quieter one of the two but they still got up to Loads of mischief.
"No it's my birthday, and I want to sleep" Sam said. He all of a sudden bolted up and put mason next to Jesse and started to tickle them. The laughter was enlightening. Andy stood in the doorway admiring thier little family when little Jacob came running into the room and jumped on top of them. "Boys didn't I tell you to leave your dad sleeping a bit longer"
"I know mummy but we just couldn't wait any longer, it's our birthday and we want to open presents" Jesse replied in between giggles.
"Yes but it's also daddy's birthday and he loves to sleep"
"Yes but he's had loads of birthdays, now it's our turn we've only had 4 birthdays" mason replied
"Well I see they've definitely inherited your smart mouth" Sam said as he stood up to stretch. "Right I'm going downstairs to see my birthday presents" he said as he raced towards the door
"Be careful going down the stairs" she shouted at Jesse and mason as she intercepted Jacob before he fell head first down the stairs.
She got down the stairs and the boys were waiting impatiently for her to get there so they could open thier presents.
They opened the presents one by one just so they could waste a bit of time and the excitement didn't run out too soon.
They both got Lego and a new scooter and Andy and Sam led them to the garden to show them The mini basketball net in the garden. It was still February so too cold to stay outside for too long. The boys wished it would snow this year on thier birthday but still nothing.
"Right boys it's time for daddy's presents" Andy said as she disappeared down the hall returning quickly with a pile of presents. The boys were jumping up and down getting excited to see what presents Andy had got Sam.
First he opened a box which had two rush concert tickets in. "Oh wow, I tried to get these and they had sold out" he leaned forward to give her a kiss. "There's 2 tickets so I assume your actually coming with me?"
"Good no, it's for a friend of your choice although we know it's gonna be Oliver as he's the only other person who likes them"
"Oh no I think I'm working that day"
"Nope I spoke to Oliver and he's made himself available as well" she felt highly impressed with herself. He opened the rest of the presents and like always Andy had done good, she knew him too well.
The morning went fast, between helping the twins build the Lego and keeping Jacob away from them before they knew it it was lunch time. Andy fixed them some lunch just as the door went. Traci was coming over to help Andy set up as she insisted Sam wasn't helping one because it was his birthday and two because he got in her way and always distracted her.
"Hey Nash" Sam said as he opened the door.
"Hey birthday boy" Nash said giving him a hug. The boys charged towards her almost knocking her over. "Wow look how big you guys are"
"auntie Traci you saw us 2 days ago" mason said.
"I know but now your 5 I can tell your bigger"
"Really, you think we are bigger" Jesse asked
"For sure" she bent down to kiss and hug them. Mason wiped his cheek. "We are too old for kisses now" he said and run back to the lounge, Jesse following behind. Sam and Traci started to laugh.
"Where's My favourite nephew?" Sam asked shutting the door behind her and followed her towards the kitchen. "Oh well he out with his girlfriend, but said he wouldn't miss the party for anything" "girlfriend, which one are we on now" Andy asked
"I think it's Maddie at the moment" Tracy said unsure.
"How many is that he's had in the last 6 months" Sam said eating a cookie from the side.
"I dunno I've lost count" they all started laughing.
"Oh crap, I forgot to get more sodas" Andy said. "I'll have to run to the store again"
"How about I go, I've gotta go to work for 5 minutes"
"does that have something to do with your phone call last night?"
"Maybe, ill take the boys and take them to the park for a while then we will go to the store on the way home, that gives you ladies time to do what you need to do"
"Such a perfect husband" Nash joked
"I know right, if you think of anything else you need, other than me, just let me know" Sam winked as he went to get the boys ready.
"Swarek I've just had lunch" Nash quipped back. Andy shaking her head in a amusement.
Sam walked into the bullpen with the twins and Jacob, Price automatically came up to them and gave the boys a high five.
"It's the Swarek boys"
"Price you mind watching them for 5 whilst I just pick something up from my desk"
"Of course, lets go find uncle dov, I think he was with uncle Oliver" she said as she led the boys in the opposite direction carrying Jacob.
10 minutes later Sam found them in the lounge, the boys laughing at Oliver. "Right come on boys let's go, we gonna go to the park for a while"
They all jumped up quickly, that always got them excited. "Thanks price, we will see you guys later right"
"Oh yeah, not gonna miss it for anything" dov replied and they said thier farewells and left.
Around and hour later Sam walked into the store with his 3 boys, he sat Jacob in trolley and the other 2 were holding onto the trolley. Whilst he was at the park Andy had called with a few more items she needed so now Sam had a list. He went down each aisle picking the stuff he needed as well as little extras he fancied. The boys were starting to get restless when they realised the candy aisle was next and charged around the corner in front of Sam. He tried to shout them back but to no avail. As he walked around the corner he saw Jesse on the floor and an older women leaning over to check he was okay.
"What happened bud" he said leaning down when he realised who the women was.
"He ran into me whilst running around the corner" she said looking at Sam. He picked up Jesse who wasn't crying just looking a bit embarrassed.
"Hi Sam" "Claire, sorry if they hurt you"
"No harm done, I guess they are both yours"
"Mine and Andy's yes"
"I have 3 grandsons now"
"Yep, if you don't mind we have to get on" Sam tried to push the trolley around her
"Yes it's our birthday and we are having a huge party with all of the family" Mason said proudly.
"Is that so, well happy birthday to you both" Claire said
"Thank you" they both said in unison.
"It's also daddy's birthday but he's older and already had like a million birthdays" Jesse said excitedly
"Thanks bud" Sam said patting his head.
"I'd like to get to know them" Claire suddenly announced
"I don't think that's gonna happen, they have all the family they need" Sam said agitated.
"Well can I at least know thier names" before Sam could say anything mason piped up. "I'm Mason Jerry Swarek, that's Jesse Oliver Swarek and he's our little brother Jacob" he said pointing at Jacob.
"They are lovey names, it was nice to meet you, say hello to your mummy for me" she said and walked away before Sam could say anything. Sam was a bit pissed off that they'd bumped into her of all people, know she knew too much of his business but he couldn't be mad at the boys as they were only kids. He had a feeling she wasn't gonna go quietly and it wouldn't be the last time he saw Claire.
Sam pulled up at the house and unloaded the boys from the car and then came out for the shopping. When he got back in he heard mason telling Andy and Traci that Jesse bumped into someone in the store and fell over. "I'll you'll never guess who it was" he said as the adults made thier way away from the boys.
"Who" Andy said curiously.
"Your mother" Sam said as he took a beer from the fridge.
"That bad was it babe" Andy laughed "What did she say"
"Oh not much, just how she'd like to get to know them"
"No frigging way" Andy replied
"I did mention that and then mason thought it would be a good time to tell her everyone's names, somehow I don't think that will be the end of it, prepare yourself for that once in a blue moon contact."
"Still not happening, she's had too many chances, she can hurt me but ain't no way she hurting my boys" Andy said as she walked out of the kitchen.
It was around 5 and everyone had started to arrive, Leo had arrived an hour before so kept the boy busy whilst the adults finished the last bits. The party was in full swing and Sam interrupted the party to make an announcement.
"Don't tell me, andys pregnant again" Oliver shouted making the crowd laugh.
"If I am Oliver, then he knows more than me" Andy quipped back.
"No this is a surprise for andy too, so will my boys and my wife come here to the middle" Jesse and mason pushed through and Andy carried Jacob.
He handed Jesse and mason an envelope and they automatically got excited. Andy bent down to look.
"Is that what I think it is"
"Yep we are going to Disneyland Florida"
The boys started jumping up and down excitedly.
"When, how?" Andy asked clearly still in shock.
"Next month, i know how much you wanted to take them there, so I found a good deal and organised the time off with Oliver so we could take the vacation at the same time, he's got rosati coming over for a few weeks and Epstein is picking up loads of overtime so I could do this for you guys" everyone else clapped and cheered and then continued on with the party.
She leaned forward and kissed him lovingly, Jacob resting on her hip who was taken by nick so Andy and Sam could have Thier moment.
"I love you" he said
"No I love you more"
"look mummy, daddy its snowing"
