Another Race

"Last place, again?"

Shiki threw her controller to the side, frowning angrily after failing to get the hang of playing 'Racing Blitz' with the rest of the gang.

"Oh dear, Green, don't give up just yet, we still have one more race to go," said Joshua, having come in first place, much to everyone's surprise.

"Yo, Pink's right, we gotta win against the CPU team." Beat glued his eyes to the screen as the next course was shown. "Rhyme ain't here today, so we can't have her replace you."

"It's just a game," Shiki muttered.

"It's never just a game." This time it was Neku. "Especially not when we have to improve for that online multiplayer tournament! You know what's on the line?" Right. There was that sponsored super special and rare Tin Pin that Neku wanted, which just so happened to be one of the prizes for coming in first place.

Reluctantly, Shiki picked up her controller again. "Fine, let's just get this over with."

After the game, everyone started at the screen.

"I…I got fifth place!" Shiki pumped a fist up in the air. "I wasn't last! Look at that!" She pointed at the screen, as if it wasn't obvious enough.

"Yeah, but Blue didn't get into the top three, yo." Beat glared at him. "An' we lost to the CPUs! That ain't cool. He even placed behind Green!"

"Shut up."

Shiki giggled and pinched Neku's cheek. "Aw, don't be grumpy! I know! I'll go get us some chips from the back, we can play more after that!"

She skipped along to the kitchen, humming happily as she did.

Neku rubbed his cheek as he watched her go, only to hear a giggle emit from Joshua.

"What?"

"You let her go past you."

"I did not," Neku denied.

"You did, so."

"Sure you didn't."

"I didn't."

"Beat, did he or did he not press the drift button on that corner that everyone here except Shiki knows to do?"

Ah, crap.

"I dunno! I was lookin' at my own screen, man!"

Thank you, Yellow.

"I've got the food!"

As Shiki started bringing packets of chips back, Joshua smirked.

"It's that, or you just got beat by Green, in which case, sayonara to that pin."

Neku decided to just keep his mouth shut. Whichever it was, he didn't want to admit it, because either way, he was sure Pink would never let him hear the end of it.

A/N: Tadaa! Lookie, it's another Another Day one :D Haven't had that in a while. I literally sat down, thought 'let's write something for SG! and then looked around my room and saw my game magazines'. I was just like 'and so the topic is racing games!' xD Oh dear...Also, the name of the game was just a random one as well.
