First off, many thanks to those who reviewed this fic, I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here the current story arc picks up where the last chapter left, in which Naegi spends the last remaining days of his extended stay in Novoselic while the birthday bash of prince Charming is underway, but expect some trouble to come along…

Ch. 37: Purinsuchāmingu no bāsudēbasshu part 1

A few days later, the scene shifts at a town square within the capital of Novoselic, where makoto Naegi decided to take a stroll and look for something to buy as he has only four days left before leaving the country to return to Japan. It's been three days since King Nevermind extended Naegi's stay here as a gesture of goodwill after the Luckster unintentionally contributed in making the recent royal ball a success, as well as his meeting with the European delegates which helped strengthened Novoselic's diplomatic and economic ties with various countries within the European Union.

As Naegi approached a sweets shop, he looked around to see which sweets would he choose as a take home present for his parents and Komaru, and the shopkeeper recognized Naegi and began complimenting him, much to the Luckster's surprise, asking how he recognized him, and there the shopkeeper said he saw it through social media about how he stood up to the chancellor at the royal ball and how he became the talk of the town about the fact that Naegi is from Japan's Hope's Peak Academy and that various European leaders proposed in making an international version of Hope's Peak Academy.

"Really?"

"Yes…and believe me…you're the talk of the town!"

"…"

"And I'm impressed. Really."

"About…?"

"How you stood up to that chancellor. That old guy's a pain in the arse. King Nevermind should fire him right away."

"Well…I rather move on rather than waste my time on him…"

"That's what we folks at Novoselic like about you…"

Soon other customers recognized Naegi and began to flock him, giving him flattering compliments and lauded him for standing up for himself against the abusive antics of the chancellor, and even said that Naegi is probably the reason why the recent royal ball became a critical success, mainly due to the bears showing a GOOD SHOW and puts the chancellor in his place.

"You must be a LUCKY CHARM…"

"Ever since you came the royal ball became a critical success…"

"And those bears are amazing!"

"You even kept your cool after the chancellor tried to intimidate you."

"You know, lad…"

"You ought to be an honorary citizen here."

"You deserved it."

"He's right."

Being modest and humble, Naegi attempted to downplay the compliments saying he did not do anything but this only impressed the Novoselic citizens, seeing that Naegi is being humble and tells him not to be intimidated by anyone, including the likes of the chancellor.

Naegi just nodded so as to end the discussion and began choosing the sweets he wished to buy, but the shopkeeper then offered Naegi the best-seller sweets and said they are free of charge, which surprised the Luckster and attempted to politely turn down the offer and said he will pay for it, but the shopkeeper insisted, and the other customers encouraged him to accept saying that he deserved it.

"It's fine."

"Eh?"

"It's on the house. It's on me."

"But…you'll be…"

"Don't worry. It's my treat."

"Really, sir?"

"Yes. So take what you like."

"Um…okay…"

Overwhelmed by the citizens' generosities, Naegi reluctantly accepted, and soon he stepped out of the sweets shop, carrying a bagful of sweets, and Naegi could not believe that he just amassed lots of it and yet he did not pay for it as they were given to him for free, and he sighed as he never thought that he would be well-known here and wondered if this is a good thing or not.

However, LUCK would change as the chancellor passed by, and seeing what transpired, he began accusing Naegi of SWINDLING the shopkeeper and the citizens out of their money and used them to buy a load of sweets, and this made Naegi feel insulted and answered back, as he is defending himself and stated that the shopkeeper insisted that Naegi get the sweets for free, which the chancellor refused to believe the words.

"I SEE…NOW YOU BECOME A SWINDLER!"

"No..I…"

"DON'T LIE! I SAW IT! YOU OUGHT TO BE ARRESTED!"

"You're becoming a pain…"

"WHAT DID YOU SAY?"

"Just leave me alone already!"

"HOW DARE YOU?"

"Well how dare you?"

The citizens inside the sweet shop saw the commotion and came out, where they stood in front of Naegi and defended the Luckster and tells the chancellor to leave him alone and pick on someone else. The chancellor attempted to verbally turn them against Naegi by saying he is swindling them out of their money, but they told the chancellor that the shopkeeper willingly waived the sales of the sweets as his way to show that Naegi is considered an honorary guest in Novoselic and they tell the chancellor that he is a thorn to the royal family.

"You're the troublemaker!"

"You're just a household of the royal family!"

"All you do is look down on people!"

"This boy is minding his own business and yet you picked on him!"

"So you're picking on him because he's below the middle class?"

"Shame on you!"

"You ought to be fired!"

"I hope Princess Sonia beat you up!"

The chancellor twitched his eyes seeing that the citizens are siding with Naegi and began to shook the Luckster by his collar, threatening to have him arrested, but in his brazen actions he accidentally shoved the Samoan ambassador, who happened to be passing by, back, sending him to the ground, and this caused the ambassador's pet bear, who is cosplaying as WWE wrestler Samoa Joe, to react in anger, and the bear grabbed the chancellor from behind and pulled him to the ground, performing the Coquina Clutch and the chancellor screamed for help.

The citizens instead recorded the scene on their smartphones and told "Joe" to beat up the chancellor and teach him a lesson so that he won't harass anyone ever again.

"Yeah, that's it!"

"Beat him up!"

"Beat him to a bloody pulp!"

"Show that chancellor who's the boss!"

"Make him tap out!"

"Kick his arse!"

"We're rooting for you!"

"Make him regret it!"

Naegi sighed as he narrowly escaped what he felt as a situation, and the citizens tell Naegi to go ahead and that they will deal with the chancellor, though Naegi is unsure if this is the right thing to do in leaving the chancellor like that, but the citizens said that he has nothing to worry about and urged him to head back to the palace so he would be safe from the chancellor's harassing actions.

"You go ahead."

"We got this."

"You'll be safe inside the palace."

"The king will make sure the chancellor won't mess you up."

"Don't worry, kid."

"We'll be fine."

"Better go."

"Yeah, make good memories."

After a minute of hesitation, Naegi nodded and left the scene, just as the Samoan ambassador got up and persuade his pet bear to let go of the chancellor, though "Joe" would not relent as he still execute the Coquina Clutch amid the screaming from the chancellor.

"Joe!"

"…"

"Stop, Joe!"

"…"

"Let him go!"

"…"

"I'm okay now, so let him go!"

"…"

Several minutes later, the scene shifts at the palace, Naegi arrived at the guest room and placed the sweets inside the refrigerator and sighed, as the supposed good day went sour due to the chancellor, and now he is unsure if this is due to his luck, and felt that his extended stay here may have been a bad idea, and wondered if he should tell King Nevermind that he intend to leave early to spare the royal family from any unwanted controversy.

Suddenly, the chancellor barges in, sporting a neck brace, and accuses the Luckster of orchestrating the assault on the chancellor, and the 15-year old boy clenched his fists as he is already getting fed up with the chancellor's antics, and shouted at him, saying that the chancellor caused the incident himself and he should blame no one but himself.

Naegi pointed out that if the chancellor had not shoved the Samoan ambassador then the ambassador's pet bear would not assaulted him, yet the chancellor would not back down and started jabbing the boy on his chest with his fingers, and this resulted in a shouting between the two.

"You caused this! You are a threat to Novoselic!"

"Damn you…!"

"What?"

"What did I ever do to you?"

"You dare threaten me?"

"…"

"I'll have you arrested!"

"Just try it…you bastard…!"

By then the Prime Minister arrived and interjected himself so as to make it appear that he is pacifying the situation and asked the chancellor what happened (in reality the prime minister got the news and is using this situation to make it appear that he suspected Naegi of instigating the assault), and after hearing it, he asked Naegi if he has an alibi to the chancellor's accusation.

Naegi responded by saying that what happened to the chancellor was his own fault and the Luckster reiterated that he has no hand on what happened, though the prime minister claimed that unless there are any witnesses to support the claim, Naegi will be named a suspect and stated that the Luckster will be put under house arrest, which Naegi clenched his fists seeing that the prime minister is riding in on the chancellor's whim.

However, Sonia came and sternly reminded the prime minister that he cannot do as he wish in harassing Naegi, and said that she has a witness to prove Naegi's claim, and the witness turn out to be the Samoan ambassador, and he told the prime minister what really happened, and by then the shopkeeper of the sweets shop came and provided a recording of what the chancellor did to Naegi and the aftermath of the scene.

Sonia then gave the prime minister a compromise: take the chancellor and leave Naegi alone, or she will have the recording reach the king and risk Prince Charming's birthday party being cancelled. The chancellor stared lividly and is about to rebut when Charming came and said he will accept it, and as the chancellor is about to protest, the prime minister whispered to him and said that for now they should forget what occurred or else the king would fire the chancellor on the spot, and the chancellor could not believe what he just heard.

"Let's leave it at that, chancellor…"

"Are you sure?"

"For now."

"But…but…"

"We have three more days…and once that brat leaves…your problems will be over…"

"…"

"So trust me on this."

"…fine…"

Left with no choice, the chancellor relented and leaves the guest room along with the prime minister and Charming, and as Sonia locked the door, she sat beside Naegi and asked how is he feeling, and there he told her that he felt that the extended stay her may have been a bad idea, feeling that his presence would only cause more trouble for everyone here.

But Sonia reiterated that Naegi did nothing wrong and that the chancellor started everything, and said that he has three more days before leaving Novoselic, so she tells him to enjoy the rest of his stay and promised to protect him if the chancellor attempts to harass him again.

Seeing the gentle look on her face, Naegi felt relieved and tells Sonia that he will do as she suggested and will stay out of the chancellor's sight for three more days, and she smiled seeing that Naegi has calmed down and hugged him, which Naegi gently hugged her in return.

"There, there…"

"…"

"It's okay…"

"…"

"I'll protect you, Naegi-kun."

"…"

"I will deal with the chancellor…"

"…"

Hope you liked this chapter…as Naegi spends his first extended day in Novoselic, but his day is spoiled by the chancellor, but luck would have it as a bear gives the chancellor a payback.

Thanks to some witnesses, the prime minister is forced to relent and decided to leave the Luckster alone for now lest Charming's birthday party gets cancelled…
