Seven months pregnant with twins Sam was forced to go on break. Steph asked her to watch the girls so she could go back on the show. Aurora and Murphy were always helping. She was still fulfilling her duties for work at home and in the Stamford office. The summer went fast and Summerslam had just come and gone. Hunter was feeling more and more uneasy about Stephanie. She had been back for a short time filling in for Sam as commissioner.
Sam had noticed Steph was always playing the victim lately and playing Hunter and Vince against each other. She claimed she was trying to help them keep close but, Hunter thought it was a ruse. Even going so far as fake crying trying to get Hunter to pay more attention to her on the show and backstage. Hunter knew she was up to something and had been for some time. Even though Sam had made him try to be friends with her for the girls he knew Steph was vindictive. He knew she was ok with him remarrying but for some reason felt she still blamed him for their divorce.
"Sam, I don't like it. She is up to something. Vince and I get along fine. When she comes back we are at each other's throat over some pissing match for control. At this point I have enough pull with investors that I have nothing to worry about but, still, I hate fighting with Vince. The way she acts when your around is even worse. I don't trust her. I saw her talking to Heyman the other day. It seems pretty odd that this Curtis Axel thing came up and so happens he's a Heyman guy."
"Babe you're just upset. That was a couple months ago. Besides, I'll be back soon. Steph will go back to her husband and we will be back to normal." Sam tried to reassure him.
"No Sam, she is getting a divorce. She cheated on the guy. Surprise right. She uses the guys backstage when she is here as her little playthings. Just like she did before. Her little slip-ups on the show saying, my husband, when we are on set is no mistake. She pretty much trapped me in the room with her trying to talk to me. I walked out cause I know her games." Hunter was furious.
"Wait, are you saying she hit on you?" Sam was upset but, tried to now let it show.
"No, but she just keeps saying things that are not exactly appropriate. I've talked to her about it but, she acts like its just a mistake. Listen, here is the thing. I know she is up to something and I can't figure it out. So till then don't trust her. I'll be home in a few days. Maybe I just need a break from her annoying ass. " Hunter sounded irritated so Sam didn't push.
"Okay, I love you. I'm heading to bed. Your mom, the girls, and I went shopping for last minute baby things. Murphy was such a help today. She is excited about her new babies to play with. I am exhausted though." Sam yawned.
"Alright. I love you. Tell my girls, I love them too. Goodnight,"
The day before Hunter got home….
In the office, Sam was getting hungry and had been working all morning. The girls were with Hunter's mom and Sam was getting caught up on a couple days work so she would have time to spend with Hunter and the girls when he got back. Steph had gone from treating her bad to treating her even more like the help. Sam was getting ready to head to the cafeteria when her cell rang.
"Hello! This is Samantha….Oh hi, Steph. I was just heading to lunch. I didn't see who was calling." Sam rolled her eyes.
"Well, next time check. I'm not just some telemarketer calling. You have my girls with you. I need you to make sure you have your phone. I have tried calling all morning." Steph scolded.
"Yes, you have. I told you this morning I was working and wouldn't be able to take calls for a few hours. You know the girls are with Hunters mom." Sam said annoyed.
"Listen, my father still owns this business and he can fire you. All I have to do is say the word. So you better make sure you answer my calls."
"Steph, you know full well that regarding me, you have no authority. Hunter does, Vince does. But, not you. I made sure of that when I was hired as talent along with my office job. You may want to check my contracts and get updated on that. Now, being we are on the same level executive wise you can now speak to me as your equal, not your personal servant. I am executive director of talent and development. Not Stephanie McMahon's personal stepping stone. I don't mean any disrespect but, you have been very rude to me last few months." Sam scolded back.
"Listen here! No one speaks to me that way! I don't have time for this right now. Hunter and I need some papers faxed immediately to us. We are having dinner tonight and I want those papers faxed now." Steph jabbed.
"Dinner? Why do you need to have dinner with Hunter?" Sam was starting to get mad.
"Oh, sweety. Don't worry. I wouldn't want him after you've have had him. Wouldn't want any of that trash rubbing off on me. Get that faxed!" Steph hung up on her.
Sam was furious slamming down the phone on her desk. "Fine! Stupid bitch. Think you can get Hunter to talk to you over the business I guess. He's just going to humiliate you again." Talking to herself. She was trying to convince herself that Hunter would never cheat on her. That the dinner was just work related. But, knowing Steph and her reputation she wasn't sure.
Sam looked over Hunter's office and his computer. She couldn't find anything like Steph had described. She figured Stephanie had a copy and headed to Steph's office. Steph texted her the details of the paperwork they needed to be faxed and was pushing her to hurry. Sam entered the room and no papers were on Stephs desk. She searched the room over. Finally on the shelf near her desk was the papers sticking out of a folder that Steph described. No place near Hunter's office like she had said.
The shelf was full and Sam knocked over some things from the shelf including the papers and a large envelope with Paul Heymans name on it. "Damn it. Now I have to clean up this mess. So the billion dollar bitch doesn't get her panties in a bunch." Picking up the papers some photos and documents fell from the envelope. Sam was large at this point and moving wasn't easy. She reached down to pick them up to stick them back in their place. When she saw Hunters photo looking back at her. It was him and Sam on the beach. Their first kiss. "What the hell is this?" Sam looked around and went to close the door from Stephs office locking it.
Sitting at Stephs desk she pulled all the contents from the envelope. Photos of her and Hunter. Some were of them in compromising positions on their honeymoon and at the back of their home poolside. Some were just photos as if someone had been following her before Hunter and Sam dated. During her time as his assistant. "Oh my gosh. She's been having me followed."
Same pulled the documents from the envelope. She recognized these when she was going over financial reports for Hunter. They had been set aside because the amounts had not matched up to the final tally over the months leading up to Wrestlemania. One sheet was missing from her report that she, Vince, and Hunter worked feverishly to figure out. Missing that much money was just not normal. The statement was for well over a quarter of a million dollars total spread over several months. Something wasn't right.
Sam went around the room looking for answers. Steph texted again and she faxed the papers over why she searched the room. In Stephanies file cabinet was one locked drawer. Sam knew from her time helping Hunter that was never locked before. She looked around for a key finding the key in Stephs bottom desk drawer. Opening the cabinet she saw mostly the normal things that had been there before. Going through Stephs office was normal for her since Steph was not often there and she had to pick up the slack. It had only been since Wrestlemania Steph told her to stay out of her office. When before she was ok with it.
Sam looked through the files and she noticed something sticking out of the top of the cabinet. Almost shoved in a way that seemed like someone was hiding something or it got stuck there by accident. Pulling the folder out she noticed it taped to the top of the cabinet. She was careful to pry it loose so no one would notice it being moved. Opening the file she was mortified. It was the financial documents but they looked to have been changed. Receipts from an overseas bank and a note attached.
Mr Heyman,
Thank you for your assistance in the matter with my ex husbands little problem. He is yet to realize that he is and will always be under my rule. Even though he married that problem she will soon see after these babies are born who is the queen. Her next little painting will be of her at the unemployment line why her precious king is in prison for embezzlement. The last move will be a big one that no one will be able to explain away. The banks have already got the go ahead. Here is your payment for your help. The distraction was well worth it. Your client will be compensated greatly and you will as well. Being my father's money is also my money I will be sure to transfer the funds back to look as if it was a glitch in the system. Thanks for the advise on that. When you receive this burn all evidence of our conversation. Leave no digital trace of our interaction. Oh and I am setting up plans to have the little whore think HUnter cheated on her. He hasn't fell for my advances yet. So, I will have to make sure to change my tactics. Maybe finding a prostitute in his bed will seal the deal.
THE real queen
"Hunter! I have to tell him." Sam took the folder and placed a note inside of her own.
Dear Billion Dollar Bitch,
GAME SET MATCH! The Games Real Queen
Sam ran from the room dialing Hunters number. No answer. She called his mom to tell her to keep the girls overnight. After several tries," HUNTER! OH GOD! HUNTER! Are you alone?"
"Baby what's wrong? You're scaring me." Hunter panicked.
"Listen, are you having dinner with Steph?" She asked.
Hunter was annoyed," Hell no! She asked about some paperwork and has acted crazy all day. I'm in my hotel room trying to get some rest. I got the fax. Thank you. It wasn't even important. She was just being a bitch."
"You need to come home now. Make something up. I can't tell you right now but stay away from Steph. You were right. All this time. Since we first met you tried to warn me. I made you try to make friends with that evil woman. Please, I'm begging you. I have never asked you to leave work. Come home." Sam pleaded.
"Alright. I can be there in a few hours. Call up the jet. I'll tell Vince it's a private family emergency. He won't ask questions. Sam are you ok?" Hunter was concerned.
"I don't know. I don't feel safe. Remember that place you took me a few weeks ago? Our private spot? Meet me there. I'll take a cab, sneak out the back. Hurry."
Sam went back to her office making copies of everything she took from Steph's office. It was time Steph saw exactly who she was messing with.
She finished a few things in the office making sure to have people in the office talk to her. She told her assistant she was not feeling well and was going home to rest. A couple of hours later Sam was sitting on the beach looking over the pater and the lighthouse in the distance. The fall air was cold on her cheeks. She sat with a blanket around her she brought from her office.
"You always look so beautiful on the beach. Like it's your safe place." Hunter sat beside her in his leather jacket, black shirt, and jeans. He wrapped his arms over his knees looking out over the water. "She's trying to ruin me isn't she?"
Sam couldn't look at him. It hurt her to tell him. "Yes. But, when I tell you, remeber you have to keep a cool head. Steph could go to prison over this and I don't think you want everyone in your life hurt by this. Let me handle it my way. I've had hours to think about this. I know how we can deal with this. Our way, so now one gets hurt."
"Our way? What do you mean? What did she do?" Hunter looked concerned.
Sam sat and told him everything. Hunter sat quietly just listening to her plan to stop Steph in her tracks. He knew Steph would try something. But, this. This was far more than some silly messing with people to get her way. This affected his wife, his children, and his unborn babies. Not to mention could ruin the WWE to it's core.
"So what now? I walk away from WWE? Do we go to the police? What?" Hunter was at a loss.
"I know how to handle this so no one gets hurt. Not us or Vince. He will be devastated but, he has dealt with a lot. I think once he hears my idea he will agree. You get custody of the girls, keep your job, and we become the biggest power couple in WWE history to make sure this company is great. For the future of our kids. She wants to mess with my family. Even use her own dad as a pawn. We hit her where it hurts most. She loses any standing in the WWE, her fame, and money go away for good if she refuses. In exchange for not going to prison. And for Heyman he returns all money Steph gave him to a chairty and is fined enough that he will never mess with us again. These people only know money and fame. Without that they are nothing. But, for now we wait." Sam was making since.
"Ok so tell me how. I'm on board."
