For a few days, the Strawhats felt like they were becoming a more like a family then fellow pirates under a Jolly Roger. Yet the other thing on their minds is how many more people in the crew Luffy hadn't introduced to the seniors; it always was only on the occasion that was needed for it. Right now, they hope that there won't be another adventure where they have to make a friendship in a rush; other than that, they are wondering where Jimbei is since he didn't join the crew with some unfinished business with Big Mom, one of the Four Emperors.
They are now heading towards their next island; Luffy called it Illiusu, the Sanctuary of Ocean. It is a summer island with a town in it where two different species now live in peace and have warriors of their unique fighting styles to keep it that way.
It was pass noon when the island came into view yet the New World nature was threatening to lose the Straw Hats of their course. Franky was the helm trying his best while everyone (I mean it) was running around the Sunny to protect it.
"Damm this weather that came at the worse second..." Franky was thinking when,
"Yeehah!"
Franky looked around for the source of that voice but couldn't find anyone,
"Now this weather is making me hear things..."
"You are not!"
"Then where are you?" Franky searched desperately until he caught a glimpse of a person in the distance; he was like riding the sea! "..." Franky couldn't believe his eyes, "Hey Captain you want to SUPER take a look at this!"
Luffy ran towards the figure head as soon as possible but then the figure disappeared.
"What!? But I saw him-"
"Yeah I believe you and I am glad you got me here." Luffy spoke that confused the shipwright.
"What SUPER are you talking about...!" Franky spoke when a huge wave appeared!
"Stand back Franky, you will be wiped out." Luffy spoke in a calm voice while Franky noticed that his captain was reaching in his cape.
"Take this! Sta-ha-ha!" The figure appeared on top of the giant wave!
Franky closed his eyes when Luffy towards the wave! He then hit the wave and the water receded back into the ocean.
"You are no fun, Pirate King!" The figure finally reveled himself as a fishman with scales covering head to toe with large fins on his arms and legs and back. "Fishmen Karate...Trench Drop Cut!" The fishman created air slices heading for Luffy; they hit him but had no effect on the Pirate King.
Luffy disappeared and appeared right in front of the fishman in his Second Gear,
"...Jet Bullet!" The attack landed square on his opponent and sent him flying until he was caught by a wave that seemed to be solid.
"Arrgh! It is not over yet!"
"It was never over to begin with!" Luffy shouted back as the fishman raced back with his fins glowing!
"Blade Fin Sword Style..."
"Gum Gum..." They readied their attacks as the crew grouped and watched,
"Whirlpool Saucer!"
"Jet Circle Sheet!" Luffy deflected the attack and knocked the impact at his opponent! The crew then noticed that their captain was using a sword in his right hand; odd, Luffy was never good in sword fighting. Then Luffy pulled out another sword but he placed the hilt in the palm of his hand for some reason.
"Blade Fin Style..." The fishman was still racing at the Pirate King, "Fangs of King!"
"Gum-Gum…Long Thrust!"
The second sword of Luffy transformed into a spear and cancelled out the attack! In fact, it transformed into a chain with a sword tip that captured the fishman!
"Hey! Let me go, Luffy!"
Luffy didn't say a word, he just stayed in place then he did a back flip and launched the fishman onto the Sunny with him along. The crew hesitantly reached for their weapons and such the fishman looked nervous in the eyes yet the Pirate King didn't change his mood,
"Guys, meet Surfer."
"You are a Devil Fruit eater?"
The crew had been asking about that since their captain introduced him; it felt a little strange for Surfer to have so many humans crawl over him.
"You really do look like a fishman but are a smelt fishman?"
"!" That made Surfer's eye as wide as plates that turned red like roses, "I. AM. NOT. AN. SMELT!" That outburst caught everyone by surprise as he went and acted like an enraged bear.
"Eek!"
"Arrgh!"
The crew ran like scared rabbits at such a temperament from a stubborn fishman. The only one not scared was Luffy, who was instead frustrated with Surfer,
*BONK "OW~! What was that for Luffy?"
"I told you not to get angry Surfer."
"But they...!" *BONK "OW~! What?"
"I said that it was easy for them to get confused so it is not even worth getting angry over."
Surfer made a 'oh' expression while the crew a simple 'that makes sense' expression. With the storm now gone, Surfer and the Strawhats all went to Illiusu; it was a medium sized island compared to regular islands, this one being big enough to have a city surrounded by villages in every direction. The pirates have noticed that the population seemed to a mix of humans, Fishmen, or hybrids of both.
The Strawhats were all baffled how a place in the Blue Sea where man and fish live in peace; it was like what Otohime, Shirahoshi's mother had hoped for up to her death. Nami only seen fishmen either leaving in fear of humans, ruling over humans, or living far away from humans but like this; she really was in a new place so she just stayed by her husband's side.
"So Surfer…"
Luffy asked the crew's new acquaintance, "How is Flora? Is she here on Illiusu?"
That first question got everyone's attention; "another of Luffy's friends? How many more did he make in twenty years?
