-Of Your World-
"So Nitram, I'm a bit confused," Bodil whispered, walking next to his brother. "You said you tried to poison Herobrine, yet you protected the Core? You said you had to Rise because Nadroj took control, but then…"
"Well, you see, one of Nadroj's people made me poison Him. It is true, I did protect the Core, but when Nadroj came to power, he charged me with treason and sent me to the Above world."
"Wait, so we're in the Nether of your world?"
"Yes," Ikab said, turning around. The blue stripes running down his body shimmered slightly as he moved. "We passed through the doorway five minutes ago."
"But there wasn't any portal," Bodil said, confused. "I thought there had to be-"
"Portal?" Ikab shook his head, blinking once. "No, we do not have any portals here. If we made a portal, we could only get to the Aether. That would be horrible; do you not know of the horrors there? There are monsters that roam across the land. Some of them have deadly venom that could kill you in a single drop; others are cloud-like creatures who try to hit you off the islands."
"Those sound like the deserted lands we have," Bodil replied. "We have the main Aether, where people go after death and where the angels and the gods stay, and then we have the deserted lands."
Ikab nodded and dropped the subject, turning back around.
"So here plan," Otes said, leading the small group closer to wherever the Core was. "We get there, we get Nadroj to touch Core. I cast spell, you guys make help and get Hero out. He need be out, or plan not works. He keeping Core non-stable, it kill Core."
Nitram nodded and turned to Bodil. "You can move thing with your mind, yes?"
"Yeah, I can," Bodil replied, getting the feeling that in this world, Nitram wasn't himself. He seemed more distant, less curious and oblivious. It almost reminded him of a war-hardened soldier. This wasn't the Nitram he had learned to love. "What do you need me to move?"
Otes sniffed, wiping the back of one of his hands across his snout. "The Core made of flaps, sealed shut like flower. Need you to pry open petals," he explained, using his bottom hands to demonstrate. "Then Nomis grab Hero. Speed, yes?"
Nomis nodded, silent. His demonic eyes blinked twice and he paused, standing still. Otes paused, ears flicking forward. He sniffed the air, claws curling. "Nobody. But people walking. Walking through halls. Ever-so-not close."
"Ever-so-not? What's that supposed to mean?" Bodil asked.
Nomis answered his question. "They are sort of close. You need to forgive Otes, he cannot speak like he used to. Not since Nadroj got to him."
Bodil glanced at Otes, who was starting to walk again. "What happened?"
Otes grunted, and Bodil dropped the subject.
[…]
"Right, you know plan. I start make spell. Martin opens Core. Careful, though, not hurt it. Others, know what to do?"
They nodded. Bodil peered into the circular room, eyes travelling to Nadroj, who stood in front of an oval-shaped, transparent thing.Inside, there was a figure. Nitram touched Bodil's shoulder, nodding towards the Core. "Like flower petals, Martin."
Gently, then.
The room surrounding the Core had several doorways, sixteen in total. The doorways opened to a hallway wrapping around the room, and more halls split off from the one. Bodil watched as Otes stepped out into the room, tail sweeping the ground.
Nadroj turned towards the demon, frowning. "There you are. Did you get him?"
Otes nodded, doing a mock bow. "Ris sey."
"What does he-"
"Good. Where are they?"
Otes flipped a hand through the air; maroon and silver whips of magic wrapped around Bodil's wrists, dragging him away from Nitram. He cried out, stumbling, and glared over at Otes, who swallowed and looked away.
"Martin-!"
Bodil craned his neck to look over at Nitram, who was being pulled out into the room, ropes of magic wrapping around his wrists. "Otes, what is this?"
Nadroj laughed, tail whipping about. "Did you actuallythink you could trust him? You can't be serious right now."
Boil glanced around, noticing how Ikab and Nomis weren't being tugged into the room. He glanced over at Otes, only to find the demon slipping away. He glanced towards the Core, where two bright eyes were staring out at him. They blinked and turned away. Bodil traced the almost nonexistent lines that ran up and down the Core. He glanced towards Nadroj.
"So, as you can see, my plan worked brilliantly. Otes brought you here under the ruse of being good. And now, as we speak, that glitch that allows access back to your world-" He nodded towards Bodil, grinning "-is closing as we speak. Slowly, sure, but I can't waist a lot of energy just closing a little glitch, can I? Right old man?"
He turned towards the Core. A grey, smoky wing whacked the inside, as if to tell him off. Nadroj simply laughed and looked back at Nitram and Bodil. "So once you two are stuck here, I'll make sure to put both of you into good use. Maybe I could use a little angel fluttering around, cutting people down. Otes is getting a little lackluster in his job, you know."
Bodil closed his eyes and blocked everything around him out. He stretched out his mind, feeling the Core. He gently twisted under one of the 'petals', prying it away with ease. For a moment, he paused, then hurried around and started stretching the petals away, peeling them down until there was a small gap. A clawed hand reached out, dark grey claws helping him to pry away the petals.
Suddenly, Nomis appeared, grabbed the hand, and tugged. Bodil pulled back on of the last layers before snapping back head pounding with a surfacing migraine.
"What-" Nadroj was cut off as Ikab suddenly slammed into him, blue stripes glowing with every movement. "Hey look! You are not in control anymore!"
The magic around Nitram's and Bodil's wrists faded away. Bodil glanced over to Nomis, who was politely bowing to the demon he had rescued from the Core.
Nadroj paled slightly, backing up as the demon turned towards him. But suddenly, a wisp of magic wrapped around the end of his tail, and he froze. Otes grinned and he physically had to curl his claws into his palms to restrain from pulling the tail.
"Yllanif," Herobrine muttered, stretching. He yawned and stalked towards Nadroj. "You know, it took you guys long enough. I thought I was going to be stuck in there forever."
[…]
"Look, Seto, I know this might seem a bit strange-"
"Strange?! No, not at all. I mean, you're only stuck behind the force field with your dad because you two needed to catch up with each other."
"Well-"
"And how did you get back there anyways? It's nearly impossible without me!"
"He said nearly. Look, sorcerer, can't you just let us out?"
"Ha! Like we could trust you!"
"Seto, come on."
"Jordan. Listen. Don't you remember when he tried to steal you back into the Nether? And remember that time when, oh, I don't know, he threatened to kill me just to bring me back to life? Or how about that time he tried to kill everyone?"
"He has a point, you know. I guess I can't be trusted. Oh, woe is me, whatever shall we do? Jordan, he is leaving the both of us here to starve!"
"Since when did you become such an ass?"
"Since you didn't let us out."
"Come on guys, calm down. Look, Seto, my reflection is going to destroy our world and use both of us as power outlets if you don't let us out!"
"I find that hard to believe. Your reflection's in a mirror, Jordan."
"Just let us out."
A sigh. "Fine, but if you make one move..."
"Are you always like this?"
The barrier crackled and fell. "Shut up."
[…]
A wisp of magic wrapped around Jordan's hand, bringing him to the Core, which had folded back into its oval shape. He struggled, kicking and swinging his wings around.
"You need hold him there," Otes said, tail curling around one of his feet. "So I can do spell, get energy back"
Bodil and Nitram held Nadroj's arms, keeping his hands flat against the Core. Ikab ran over and helped them, while Otes started chanting something in a language none of them knew. After a moment, there was a flash and wa-dumph. Bodil was shoved backwards, ears ringing from the explosion. He groaned, rubbing his head, and sat up, looking over at Nadroj, who was sitting against the Core, limp.
"Is he dead?"
Bodil glanced over at Nitram, who was struggling to get off his tail. "He looks dead."
Otes growled lightly and padded over to Nadroj, nudging him with a toe. The demon growled, white eyes snapping open. He lunged forward, but fell onto his side, once again limp. "What... What did you do to me?"
The sorcerer's reflection grinned, sharp fangs gleaming. He chuckled and looked over at Herobrine, bowing. "What we do with him?"
"We'll figure it out," the demon muttered, tail lashing the air. "But you-" He pointed to Bodil, who straightened up, tensing. "-need to leave. With the Core back to its former self, the glitch will crumble."
"How do you-" Bodil began, but suddenly found Nitram pushing him out of the room. "You do not talk back to the king, Martin. If he tells you to do something, you must do it. But nevertheless, he is right. You must hurry, or you will be trapped in here forever."
The devil jumped into the air, dragging Bodil after him. The two sped back to the forest of stone, landing next to the rapidly shrinking glitch pool. A few trees flickered with the glitch, but the stony jungle was rapidly taking back over.
"Hurry," Nitram said, landing next to the pool and practically pushing Bodil into it. "You must leave, I do not want you to stay here."
"W-wait, wait, wait!" Bodil dug his heels into the dead grass, leaning against Nitram. Once his brother stopped, the angel turned around to look him in the eyes. "Aren't you going to come with me?"
Nitram swallowed and looked down, unable to meet Bodil's orange gaze. "I-I do not think… Will it not tear the fabric of time and reality or something? I mean, this… this is where I belong, right?" He gestured to the bleak world around him, looking up at the smoggy sky. "Right? I lived my life here, so…"
"But- but… I don't want you to stay. Nitram, you can come with me! You could live in my world!" Bodil grabbed him by the shoulders, eyes pleading. "You can, I promise! And if something happens to the reality, well screw it! It wouldn't matter, as long as we're together. Right?"
Nitram looked at him and sighed, biting his lip. "Bodil," he began, "I… Something could go wrong, you know? And, well… I'm sorry."
Before Bodil could react, Nitram pushed him. He cried out and fell backwards, into the black and blue glitch. The last thing he saw was Nitram's sad, red and black eyes before he was met with bright blue sky. The world was once again flipped, upside-down turning right side-up, and he fell onto the ground, right next to the shrinking glitch. "Nitram!"
He stood, turning to look down at the pool that was only as big as he was around. "Nitram, what'd you do?"
The devil looked away. "I'm sorry Bodil. I… I didn't want you to be stuck here with me."
Bodil shook his head, falling down to his knees and pushing his arm through the hole. He grabbed Nitram's foot and pulled, teeth clenching in determination. The devil cried out and there was a ripping noise as he was tugged into Bodil's world. Up became down, and he fell onto Bodil, just like he had when they first met. "Bodil! What did you-"
"You're not going to stay in that world," Bodil growled, rolling over and pinning him. "Not on my watch."
"B-but Bodil-" Nitram looked over at the glitch, only to find it closed. "It-it is closed…"
Bodil smiled and sat back, getting off him. "So now you're stuck with me, right?"
Nitram looked at him out of the corner of his eyes, lips tugging into a sly smile. "Yeah. If anyone asks, I will say that I, uh, slipped."
Bodil laughed and stood, extending a hand. "Well come on, then. I still need to show you how to drive, right? Maybe we should ask Sky for some lessons."
"I thought you said Sky was a terrible driver, and have his license taken away." Nitram paused and took his hand, standing up. "What is a license?"
"Something neither of us should ever have," Bodil replied, slinging an arm over Nitram's shoulders and leading him back towards the city. "And something I don' have the patience for. But don't tell Sky that he shouldn't have a license, he's quite proud of it. But come on, how about some fast food?"
Nitram jumped into the sky almost immediately, pulling Boil with him. "Yes, yes! That would be amazing! Let us go, now! Hurry, hurry!"
Bodil laughed and shot after him, riding any currents of wind kind enough to give him some speed. The demon was fast, Bodil would give him that. "Hey, wait up!"
Nitram swooped into a loop, falling back to fly next to Bodil. "I wish I could have said goodbye to Nomis or Ikab, though. They will wonder where I went."
Bodil flipped onto his back, crossing his arms behind his head. "You'll get to someday, I bet."
Nitram flew up a bit, staying above Bodil. "Yeah, I guess you are right. I will see them someday. I hope."
He grinned, though, and tucked in his wings halfway to roll. "But as of right now, I am in and of your world. My world is no longer mine. This is my world now. Right Bodil?"
Bodil beamed and curved around Nitram to fall in beside him. "Yeah. You're with me now."
So... Sorry about not posting this sooner. I had a really bad case of writer's block, and nothing would flow. So because of it, this chapter isn't how I would like it to be, but, eh, oh well. Hope you enjoyed, guys. Leave a review, tell me what you think.
Oh, and as a side note. I recently (finally) made my own twitter account, so you should go check out my profile for the link. It can be useful, if you're wondering if I'm writing or not. (Twitter is the place of procrastination, so if I'm on I'm most likely not working on anything.) So yeah, go do that. Go on, my minions. Go. I command thee.
Anyways guys, thanks for being awesome, thanks for reading, thanks for everything. Over 265 reviews. Honestly, I don't know what to say. This is just amazing for me. I can't thank you enough.
