Pair's Movements
Kuu and Julie were just sitting down on the ever-present couch in Takarada's office when he walked in.
He walked to his desk and leaned against it. "Welcome to my command center. Here we can monitor the entire battle." He picked up one of the three remotes on his desk and turned on the large TV to his right. Images from all the security cameras in the building appeared. He picked up the second remote next and turned on the monitors to the left of the TV.
"Would you mind explaining what those are for?" Julie asked indicating the monitors.
"These allow us to observe the statistics of all the pairs in the game. How many shots they've fired, how many people they've hit, and when they are out of the game."
"Interesting," Kuu said as he looked at all the names and graphs that were being displayed on the screens. "Who do you have paired with Yashiro?"
"Kotonami Kanae, she is Love Me Girl number two and Kyoko's best friend. I think that she and Yukihito will do well together."
Julie looked at Takarada. "Kuon and Kyoko aren't the only couple you're trying to get together."
It wasn't a question but Takarada sill responded. "You are correct. Given what I know about their personalities I think that Yukihito and Kotonami-kun are very compatible as a couple."
Kuu raised an eyebrow. "How many couples are you hoping to create from this game?"
"I'm planning on three at the very least. Though I will not argue if there are more."
"And how soon do you expect these couples to be established?"
"I'll bet you dinner that the two remaining Love Me Girls will be dating their partners from this game within the week."
"I bet that it will take them a month."
Both men looked at Julie to see if she wanted to take part in the wager. She looked thoughtful for a moment before speaking. "I briefly met Kotonami-san and Amamyia-san at the party, so I don't know either of them very well. However, I feel safe in saying that Kotonami-san will start dating soon but that she will not be dating Yukihito-san. As for Amamiya-san I can't say one way or the other."
When the buzzer sounded the main lights turned off and some strobe and multicolored lights came on.
Maria and Sebastian silently slipped into some shadows and made their way towards the south side of the building staying completely hidden. They paused on the fifth floor and hid in an empty alcove waiting for their first victims. They didn't have to wait long. Within a matter of minutes, they heard voices and the sound of running feet. Without giving away their position they shot the group of four people that were passing them. The four that were shot started shouting and trying to figure out who had gotten them.
In the confusion Maria and Sebastian manage to leave undetected to find another spot from which to ambush more unsuspecting souls.
Maria looked up at Sebastian and grinned. 'This is one of Grandfather's ideas that I'm really enjoying. It's nice to actually have permission to sneak around.'
Sebastian glanced down at Maria and felt himself smiling. 'She really is enjoying this. I think that she is more exciting to be playing than she let on that she would be.'
They entered a foyer type area with a balcony to their left. Sebastian lifted Maria so that she could climb onto it and then followed her. Sebastian made sure that the door leading to the balcony was locked before he and Maria got in sniper positions.
'This will be just like when we did paintball the other day.' Maria thought gleefully even as she allowed an evil smirk to cross her face.
"Alright, let's go." Moko said with a serious look as she started to leave.
"Excited?" Yashiro asked as he caught up with her.
"No, but I'm not about to lose. And the more we move the harder it will be for anyone to shoot us."
"Good idea."
Chiori and Shingai hurried along behind Moko and Yashiro with their guns at the ready.
"Chiori, director Shingai cover our right side. Kyoko, I want you and Kuon to-" Moko cut herself off when she turned and saw that the two people she was talking to were gone. "Mo! Where did those two go? They were just here!"
The of three turned.
"How did they disappear without any of us noticing?" Chiori asked.
Director Shingai was the one who replied. "I'm not sure but it isn't that surprising. R-Kuon can move very stealthily when he wants to. We shouldn't worry about them, Kuon will keep Kyoko safe. And we're bound to run into them again eventually."
"Seiji-san is right," Yashiro commented. "We should focus on the game and defeating the other team."
Kyoko had made to join Moko and the rest when she was pulled in the opposite direction.
"Kuon, what are you-"
A hand cut off Kyoko's voice. "My name is not Kuon." A deep voice whispered into her ear in English.
Kyoko gasped, "C-Cain."
Cain smirked and removed his hand. "Yes. Where is my sister?"
"Sh-she is-I'm right here, Nii-san." Setsu said as she relaxed into her brother's hold. "Aren't you being a little impatient?"
"It's your fault for being so cute." Cain growled. "It's too difficult to be away from you for so long. So, I'm going to spend as much time with you as possible today."
Setsu smirked, "My Nii-san really does love me."
Cain let Setsu go. "Come on, we have butts to kick."
Setsu pouted, "Only if you hold me again when we're done."
Cain patted her head with a soft smile on his face. "Anything for my cute little sister. Do you remember the Russian I taught you?"
Setsu gave him an annoyed look. "Of course, I do. Stop treating me like a child." She repositioned her gun and turned to leave. She took two steps before a hand on her shoulder stopped her.
Cain turned her back around frowning at her. He quickly bent down and kissed her neck. "I'm not treating you as a child. Don't put words into my mouth. If I was treating like a child I wouldn't want to mark you as mine. I wouldn't let you wear those sexy, little outfits. And I wouldn't want to kill any man that looks at you."
Setsu smirked before lifting Cain's head. She leaned in, to give him a kiss when they both froze.
Cain pulled Setsu behind him and fired three shots in rapid succession down the hall. The chorus of moans that they heard was music to his ears. He silently slipped away with Setsu.
Setsu rolled her eyes. "Idiots, don't they know how to talk quietly in this country? Also, couldn't you have let me shoot one of them?" She pouted up at Cain.
Cain patted her head. "Next time, Setsu." Then he took hold of her hand and pulled her further down the corridor, keeping to the shadows.
When they got to junction they paused trying to hear voices or footsteps over the music. "Wait," Setsu caught a glimpse of movement to their left and pulled Cain deeper into the shadows. They crouched down, the harder to be seen, and raised their guns.
"The music could be better." Setsu commented a few minutes later as she and Cain continued down the hall.
Cain just smirked.
"I mean this is a battle after all. Shouldn't the music reflect that?"
"Not every has your darker views, Setsu. And while I do agree with you, we can't expect the Japanese to as well."
"Can't Uncle do something about it," Setsu pouted.
"When this is done I'll take you music shopping. And I'll buy you so much it will take you over a day to listen to it all."
"Nii-san you-"
"Left." Cain whispered as he saw movement ahead of them. He and Setsu blended into the darkness on that side of the hall and waited for the people to get closer.
"I'm sure I saw someone around here!"
"Shhh! If there is someone here, do you want them to hear you?"
"Does it matter if they hear me?" The first voice asked at a slightly lower volume.
There was a small sigh before a response. "This area is rather dark even with the strobe and colored lights. Talking loudly will make it easier for other people to find us."
"But being silent playing a game like this isn't any fun, Ruriko."
"I'm not saying that you need to be completely. Kijima. Just speak in a lower voice." Ruriko said. "I would like to at least last an hour before being shot. If not the whole game."
No sooner had the words left her mouth than the lights on the front of both of their vests lit up to indicate that they had been shot.
"Never mind," Ruriko said, "Okay, who shot us?"
Kuon and Kyoko stepped out of the shadows.
"Ren!" Kijima said is shock. "How were you able to hide there?"
Kuon smiled Ren's gentlemanly smile. "I know how to use stealth, Kijima-san." With that he took Kyoko's hand and swiftly lead her away before Kijima or Ruriko could reply.
Cain and Setsu were standing on opposite sides of the door leading to a set of stairs, with their backs to the wall. Setsu was panting slightly but Cain seemed normal.
"How much longer is this game going to last? I'm getting tired," Setsu pouted.
Cain looked at his sister. "I doubt that is will last much longer. Uncle may have a lot of employees but not that many."
"But we've already been doing this most of the day. I know that there was a break, so everyone could rest and eat. But I'm ready to be done." Setsu spun to look at Cain as she spoke and was now close to the edge of the small landing they were standing on.
Cain also turned toward Setsu and was about to reply to her when a loud blow-horn sounded over the speakers startling them. Setsu flinched and lost her balance. One of her feet slipped over the edge of the step and she started to fall.
"Setsu!" Cain lunged forward to try and grab Setsu.
Hi everyone! I know that I left a lot to your imagination in this chapter, but I do have a couple reasons for that. First, I've learned that a story is better if you leave parts for the readers to figure out themselves. Second, I'm planning a few spin-off fanfics from this one and they also have the laser-tag game in them.
