Title: The Black Star

Author: AileenDickinson

Summary: His godfather is dead and Harry decides that it's time to cut the strings from the old twinkle eyed puppeteer, start revealing his secrets and live his life as he wanted to. There's a new star in the Black tapestry. Independent! Smart! Powerful! Harry - Character bashing- slash-

Pairings: Harry/Draco

Genre: Romance, Adventure

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.

Warnings: There will be Character bashing, mainly Dumbledore/Ron/Hermione/Ginny/Molly Bashing!

Slash pairing(s ?) . Don't like, don't read.

Author Notes: First of all, I would like to remind you that I'm Italian and there is a possibility that you will find spelling mistakes or the occasional wrong word, I will do my best to write correctly and double check.

Now, onto the story, I know that many love the old headmaster but personally I don't like him very much. Dumbledore will not be evil, but the greater good often makes him lose contact with reality and forget the difference between people and pawns, and the fact that everybody looks up to him like he can do no wrong does not help. Ron, Ginny, Hermione and Molly are another matter.

For those who follow my other story, Love of Legend, I'd like to say that I did not abandon the story. I found a bit of a writer's block, maybe it's because I have too many things I want to write about and no idea how to. I hope that maybe writing something else for awhile will help me.

§The Black Star §

-Chapter 35-

It was the third day out of the dome and the Potter-Blacks decided it was time to visit Gringotts.

They flooed right into the bank's floo room since Bloodfang had given them the password and permission to do so before the summer.

Once in his office they set down to business, while the twins looked around amazed from their father's side.

"Greetings Lord Potter-Black, Lord Malfoy. How may I be of service?" the goblin asked.

"Greetings Bloodfang. I wish to dissolve the marriage between Lucius Mafoy and Narcissa Malfoy" Draco said. It was something he decided to do a couple of years after he entered the dome.

"Very well, I expected a decision like that and prepared the documents in advance just in case. A couple of signatures here and there and it will be done"

"Thank you. After that I want to officially disown Lucius Malfoy from the Malfoy family."

Even if he wasn't the lord anymore, Lucius still had the right to access part of the money and at least one of the properties, same with Narcissa.

Dissolving the marriage meant that his mother became Narcissa No Name, with no money or assets belonging to her, the same would happen to his father upon disownment.

He would just need a thought now and the wards around Malfoy Manor would evict any and all inhabitants from its premises, bar the house elves who were loyal to him.

Part of him had wanted to sign the documents and forget all about it while still inside the dome but Harry asked him to wait. At the time they knew that Voldemort and the majority of his followers resided in Malfoy Manor but if Draco were to evict them all they wouldn't have idea of where they would hide again.

So he waited and now that they had a way of knowing where they would be at all times he could get it over with and have the elves purge the Manor of anything dark, dangerous and sanitize it all. Merlin knows what germs those rats had brought inside his home!

The next thing to go would be his father's precious peacocks. Damned birds always tried to take a bite out of him when he was a child, maybe he could have them roasted 'how different could be a roasted peacock from a roasted chicken?!' he thought with a malicious grin.

The Prewett brothers had gone together to the family Manor, after all it was big enough to house all of them three times over.

They had decided to confront their parents once and for all. They were tired of all the letters from their mother where she slandered Harry and Sirius and tried get them to send her more money every time she wrote.

While they had nothing against their father, they were disappointed he never stood up for them against his wife, he never tried to take the reins of the household and followed his wife and Dumbledore without question.

Upon arriving to the manor Bill decided to write a short letter informing his parents that they would go visit them in two days time, if only to stop the woman's owl from coming at every hour. The ruddy thing had woken little Matt more than once and scared the 'twins', as everyone called Fred and George children, trying to bite them when they came near.

Charlie had threatened to incinerate him if he ever came near again for daring to hurt his nephews and he wasn't the only one.

They were all a bit nervous about the meeting because even though they wanted to cut ties with them, they were still their parents and Molly had a talent for saying hurtful things. She would have read the articles by now and surely couldn't wait to scream and rant against her sons.

When they finally managed to get ready and dress the kids it was already late and they hurried to depart, even though the twins tried to back out claiming some urgent matter that waited for them. The brothers went first deciding to do some damage control and avoid screams around the children, they didn't want them to get scared or feel that their grandparents didn't love them. If it came to the worst they were just going to tell them that they didn't have grandparents at all, instead of having them feel unworthy like the twins often felt because of their mother.

When they apparated into the grounds they didn't see anything different in the Burrow, not that there was reason for it to be but for them it was eight years since they had last seen it.

Bill took the lead and knocked on the door waiting for someone to open. When he came face to face with Ron he was surprised, he should have been at school but then again knowing his mother she must have told everything to Minerva and the woman gave his siblings permission to return home so that their mother wouldn't bother her all the week about it. She wanted them to convince the wayward brothers to see reason and come back to the side of the light, he was sure. 'What a load of bullshit'

"Are you going to let us enter or we must wait outside for your underworked brain to catch up and remember some manners?" Charlie sneered. He was disgusted to know that such a stupid boy was of his same blood.

Ron went red in the face before he stomped away yelling that the traitors were there.

"Always so charming" George grumbled wishing to be anywhere else than here.

Bill sighed, feeling like he would be doing it a lot that day and motioned for them to enter.

They didn't have the time to set foot into the kitchen that Molly came bursting out and started talking, or ranting depending on the point of view, a mile a minute.

"Bill! Oh Bill you're home! Why did you never answer my letters? Do you have any idea how worried I've been? Always working with those nasty creatures.. you should find a proper job and settle down. It's time after all to find a proper witch and marry. Did you read the prophet? Of all the things to make up saying that you married that scarlet woman, she isn't proper wife material and you know it of course."
"And you! How could you shame me and your father that way? Running away from school without even completing your Newts, obsessing over your stupid pranks and that idiotic dream of opening a shop.. you're a disappointment. I expect you to go back to school to retake your final year come Monday, I've already spoken with the headmaster last summer and he was gracious enough to allow you two undeserving failures back. There will be hell to pay if you create problems, do I make myself clear? After that you will apply for a ministry job, that will teach you be responsible and humble, none of your dreams of grandeur." She ranted at the twins, changing behavior like switching a light from when she was speaking to Bill.

"You will also go to the Ministry and file for a divorce. Those girls are not suited to you and I will not have their spawn leeching off my family. Divorce is frowned down in the wizarding world I know, but you're already as low as you can get. And it's better if you're looked down from your fellow wizards than having to deal with those whores." She ordered taking no note of the murderous glares the twins were sending her.

"Oh Charlie, you're here too. When did you arrive?." she chirped ignoring the fact that her second son had been here all the while.

During all that Arthur had remained on the kitchen doorstep, not speaking a word either in defence or against his sons.

"Well, now that we've cleared things let's go to the Ministry." She said only to backtrack when no one made to follow her. "I said let's go and I mean now Fred and George Weasley!"

Bill took a deep breath, in the vain attempt to calm his temper before speaking.

"First of all it's Prewett, not Weasley" he spoke in what his fellows had deemed the 'Lord voice' while teaching him how to live up to his title. While he and his three brothers knew enough about purebloods and etiquette, many of the finer points escaped them since they were never taught nor they frequented the purebloods circles.

Both his parents seemed to freeze and pale upon hearing his words. Arthur was shocked that a child of his would reject his name and disown his family, for that was what his claim meant. That his children had disowned themselves from the Weasley family and taken up the name Prewett. How he didn't know since there wasn't a Lord Prewett, Molly was the last of the family and after no one was named to succeed her brothers he assumed the family had died out because there weren't suitable heirs to fit the requirements.

Molly instead paled for the meaning of that. It meant not only what Arthur had already realized but also that Bill had found out. He discovered that Fabian and Gideon made him their heir and he was eligible to the Prewett lordship and that she kept all of that hidden from him. She had no intention of ever telling him either, she was sure that the goblins would one day see that she was the one who deserved the title and moneys of her family. But now it was impossible for her to gain anything and her son would need to be fed a lot of lies so that he could keep trusting her and follow her demands.

"Don't be silly dear. You are my son, you'll always be a Weasley" she told him in a sweet voice.

"What does that mean William?" asked Arthur instead.

"It means" he replied, ignoring his mother "that mother here saw fit to hide from me that I was the Prewett heir and I would have lost the title if I didn't discover the truth by luck."

"It means" continued Charlie "that we don't approve and are honestly appalled of your actions towards Lord Harry Potter-Black, a man we consider our brother" here he glared at Ron making him understand that his brothers loved Harry more than they did him and making Ginny feel like a worm with the way they were looking at her. Like they were disgusted and she wasn't worthy to breath the same air as them.

"It means" said George "that we are tired of being controlled and belittled by a woman that profess to be our mother but treats us worse than vermin when she should love us unconditionally" his words cutting deep from the way Arthur flinched. She was a good mother, Molly told herself, she knew what was best. The little ungrateful brats will have to apologize to her.

"It means" followed Fred "that we are tired of a father who never defended us or took interest in his sons."

"We choose to cut all ties with you and your family and take the name of Prewett. My three brothers are now under protection of the Most Noble and Most Ancient House of Prewett along with their families." The threat in Bill's word clear. "We hoped, probably a bad idea, that you would be regretting your actions and feel sorry for it. Maybe you would have had a chance to meet your grandchildren. But instead you are as thick as usual."

"I for one will not allow you to come anywhere near my family" spat Charlie preparing to leave.

"For the record" said Fred "we don't care If you 're so immature and petty to insult us"

"if you ever again insult our wives, be it in our presence or not" continued George

"Or call our children names"

"If you go anywhere near them"

"You will wish we killed you" they spoke in unison. Faces dark and voices promising pain. Unmentionable pain.

The four Prewett brothers vanished and their former family was left dumbstruck watching the swishing of their cloaks as they left.

"How did it go?" asked Lorelai when they appeared back home.

"No need to ask, Lor. They look ready to kill" observed Daphne motioning for her redhead to join her on the couch.

"She's right" said Bill, massaging his temples "It was bad"

"You already knew it was surely going to be like that though" commented Dora.

"Yeah, but it makes us angry all the same." Sneered George "she demanded that we divorced and insulted both you and the kids"

That surely earned growls from all the women, they were worse than a nesting dragoness as Charlie once described them when someone dared to touch their babies.

The man sighed and decided that to lift the mood a bit they needed to spend the rest of the day playing with their children. They were always sure to draw out a laugh.

Susan and Theo were in the sitting room playing with little Amanda when Amelia came back from work. Being minister was harder than she thought, but then again Fudge left such a huge mess of things behind that it was a miracle she was even able to return home to sleep instead of working all day and night for all the days of the week.

Thankfully she had a great team of assistants helping her and after purging the ministry of death eaters and not qualified people things run much more smoothly.

If only they could get rid of Voldemort and all his death eaters for good she would be even happier.

The only thing more problematic than a deranged dark lord was Dumbledore. Even if the man had been put on trial and judged guilty, his followers were still adamant he had to be released of all charges because all he did was for the greater good. As if!

All she wanted to do now was forget all about work and problems and cuddle a bit with her little Amie.

Tomorrow she would help Theo and support him when he went to lay charges against his father to the Ministry.

Andromeda was home, waiting for her husband to come back. Today was the day he returned from his business trip an she couldn't wait to see him. Eight years without him had been more difficult than she could imagine. She would do it again of course, but not being able to share certain moments with her love had been sad.

She wanted him to be able to be there for their daughter wedding and first child, but he had to miss it. Pensieve memories were useful for that but it wasn't the same.

"Mom! We're here!" screamed Dora from the fireplace. She had been adamant that she was going to be there and welcome her daddy home. She also wanted little Matt to meet his grandpa.

"Dora, you don't need to scream. I'm not deaf.. yet" she added the last part whispering.

The little family came in the living room where she was waiting, tea ready on the table. Matt was squirming in his father arms, wanting to go to be put down.

As soon as his feet touched the floor he bounced towards her with a call of "Gwanny!"

"Oh, my little man! Did you grow up in the last two days?" she smiled hugging him close to her. She was so used being around the children that when she came home at first it seemed too empty and sad.

"Don't know about growing up, but the little thief sure eats a lot" Bill chuckled sitting down in the couch next to his wife. Since the Potter Black twins taught them the tricks, Matt, Faith and Gabriel had been stealing cookies left and right. The funny thing was that no one, not even Fred and George, could figure out how they did it.

It was half an hour later when the door opened and the voice of a man could be heard from the hallway.

"I'm home!"

True to her childlike soul Dora sprang to her feet and ran into the arms of her father, telling him how much she missed him, with tears in her eyes.

"Oh, I missed you too Nymphie." He hugged her back "Shh, it's alright baby"

After a while she calmed down and led him to meet the rest of her family. Ted already knew of William thanks to being acquaintances with the Weasleys and the fact that the second son went to school with his daughter. He heard that he was a talented cursebreaker and had been recently transferred to the main Gringotts branch in London. That meant not only that he was the best but that the goblins trusted him.

"it's nice to finally meet my son in law" he said shaking his hand "And who is this lad hiding behind my wife's skirts?" he laughed.

Once they told him that the new man was his grandpa, Matthew was fast to attach himself to the man talking a mile a minute. Or as much as a two year old could.

It was deep night when the inhabitants of the manor were woken by the loud ringing of the wards. The master of the house couldn't understand what was happening and was quite confused.

He explained to his lord that it looked like the wards were.. scanning the occupants of the manor, for what he didn't kwow.

Everyone was reunited in the ballroom that Lord Voldemort used for his meeting, all sleepy, annoyed and some frightened of what was going to happen.

All of a sudden the ringing stopped. They shared a sigh of relief only to find that they couldn't move. Wide eyed they tried to free themselves from the unknown force that held them but it was of no use. The same force then started to pull them, literally through the hallway until they were thrown outside of the manor and the property gates.

"LUCIUSSS! What isss the meaning of thisss?" screamed the enraged dark lord.

The blond ex-lord tried to answer but his mouth just opened and closed without any sound coming out. He was too shocked by what happened. Here he was thrown out of his manor, in the cold night and in his sleeping clothes.

An elf appeared just behind the gates, inside the safety of the wards and said "Master doesn't like uninvited guests. Master banished bad people, yous is not to come back"

Screams rang loud into the night then, to testify the rage of the madman who was casting cruciatus left and right with no care of whom he hit.
