Aria's POV
Ezra and look at each other terrified, and tears begin to rush down both of our faces.
"What happened?" I ask through my heavy sobs.
"Jeremy was riding down a hill on his bike and he lost control. He hit a parked car and went flying..." The man starts to ramble.
"Is he okay?" Ezra asks as he clutches my hand.
"It's to soon to tell, an ambulance just brought him to the hospital." The man says with a sigh.
"We're on our way." I say as I hang up the phone.
"This is all my fault." Ezra says as he begins to sob hysterically.
"I'm just as responsible." I say as I try to keep the tears from pouring down my face.
"I'm never going to forgive myself for this." Ezra says as he chokes on his on words.
"You didn't mean for this to happen." I tell him gently.
"I still caused it." Ezra says sadly.
"Switch places with me Ezra, there is no way you can drive while you're under this stress." I tell him seriously.
"It's fine." Ezra says as he wipes away his tears.
"No it isn't, we have a baby girl in the backseat." I remind him.
"You probably should drive." Ezra says as we switch places.
I drive as quickly as I can to the hospital. When we arrive, Ezra grabs Caroline and we sprint into the building.
"Where is Jeremy Fitzgerald?" I ask the receptionist.
"ICU." The woman tells us.
I nearly faint when the women says this.
"But that's for people who are in life or death situations." I say with a whimper.
"You should go see your son." The woman says as she avoids eye contact.
Line Break
"Doctor Chance!" I say as I run to the doctor.
"How are you sweetheart?" He asks me with a sad smile.
"What's going on with Jem?" Ezra asks him nervously.
"I'm going to send in a family therapist." He starts to say.
"Tell me what's going on." Ezra growls.
"It doesn't look good." He says with a sigh.
"What do you mean?" I ask as I begin to sob.
"There is a lot of swelling in his brain." Doctor. Johnson tells me gently.
"N-no, this isn't right." Ezra says through his tears.
"Can we see him Doctor?" I ask hopefully.
"I don't know if that's a good idea." He starts to say.
"Please let me see him." I beg.
"Okay." He says with a nod.
The doctor leads Ezra and I into the hospital room. We both gasp when we see our son. Bruises and scratches cover Jeremy's little body, and there are so many tubes attached to him.
"Jeremy." I say as I begin to sob into Ezra's chest.
"I'm so sorry son." Ezra says through his sobs.
"Jem is in a coma, he can't hear what you're saying." Doctor Chance tells Ezra.
"I need him to know." Ezra says as he leans over Jem.
"I leave you alone for a few minutes." Doctor Chance says as he scurries out of the room.
All I can think about is how my baby boy is in danger, and how much I love him.
Flashback
I stand in my living room and hold my son who is six months old.
"Jem you're so cute, just like you're daddy." I cue.
Jem smiles and continues to stare at me with his ice blue eyes.
"Don't tell Daddy this, but I think you're even cuter then he is." I whisper to Jem.
I gasp when I hear my husband clear his throat.
"Ezra what are you doing here?" I ask nervously.
"Watching my wife's heart get stolen." He says with a chuckle.
"You two share my heart." I say as I give Ezra a kiss on the cheek.
"Can I hold him." Ezra asks as he gestures towards the baby.
"Of course." I say as I hand him Jem.
Jem grabs Ezra's nose, and we both start to laugh.
"I'm going to go to the bathroom." I say to Ezra.
As soon as I start to walk away, Jem reaches his arms out towards me and begins to cry.
"I'll be back in a minute honey." I tell Jem softly.
"Mommy!" Jem says through his tears.
"Ezra did you hear that?" I ask as my eyes light up.
"He said his first word!" Ezra exclaims happily.
"Oh you're growing up so fast!" I say as I give Jem a kiss on the cheek.
"I love you both so much." Ezra tells us.
"I do too." I say as I stare at Jem and Ezra.
End of Flashback
I begin to sob even harder after I recollect that day. If I lose Jem, I'll lose a piece of my heart.
Ezra's POV
I get sadder and sadder after each passing moment. Aria holds Caroline and sobs, while I stare at my son and sob.
"Are you tired?" I ask Aria.
Aria shakes her head and stares at the floor.
"Maybe you should go home with Caroline." I tell her gently.
"I'm not leaving Jem, there is no way." Aria says as she shakes her head furiously.
"Caroline should get some rest. Can you call your parents and asks them to take her?" I ask Aria.
Aria nods and steps out of the room for a minute.
"I love you so much Jem." I say as I kiss his forehead.
I start to sob even harder when I don't get a response.
"Please don't die, I need you. I need you even more than you need me." I tell him truthfully.
I grab Jem's hand and squeeze it.
"You're always so happy, even when people around you aren't. You always think about other people before you think about yourself. You're just an all around good person." I say to him.
I begin to sob even harder, if that's physically possible.
"Please don't die Jem. I want to watch all the girls chase after you when you're in high school, I want to see you win a Wold Series with the Yankees, and I want to go to your wedding and take care of your children." I say as I stroke his dark curls.
"I need you, your mother needs you, and Caroline needs you. Everyone loves you Jem." I say as I start to hyperventilate.
"Oh Ezra!" Aria says as she enters the hospital room.
"I-I'm f-fine." I try to say.
"No you're not." Aria says as she wraps her arms around me.
"I'm so sorry Aria!" I whisper to her.
I squeeze her so tightly that I doubt she can breathe, but Aria doesn't say anything about it.
"You have nothing to be sorry for." Aria tells me gently.
"Our son is in the hospital dying because of me!" I shout angrily.
"It's not your fault and he isn't dying." Aria says as she begins to raise her voice.
"Look at him Aria!" I scream as I gesture towards our son.
"Oh my God Ezra." Aria says as she starts to cry so hard that she is struggling to catch her breath.
I wrap my arms around Aria and stroke her hair.
"I don't know what I'll do if we lose him. I can't even..." Aria starts to say.
"He doesn't deserve to die, if anyone it should be me." I say with a sigh.
To my surprise, Aria slaps me as hard as she can.
"What the Hell Aria!" I shout angrily.
"Our son is hurt, and all you do is sit around and feel sorry for yourself." Aria tells me furiously.
"Well if you had listened to Jem we wouldn't be in this mess." I say bitterly.
"If you weren't such a jerk he wouldn't have run away!" She says to me.
"If I lose another child because of you..." I start to say.
"What are you talking about?" She asks hurt.
"This is the second time that your stubbornness has jeopardized our child's life. If you had listened to me and went on maternity leave, we wouldn't have lost the baby. If you had listened to Jem when he was trying to tell you where Caroline was, everything wouldn't have fallen apart." I scream in her face.
"You're unbelievable!" Aria says in disgust.
"No Aria, I'm done dancing around the truth." I tell her.
"Well I'm done being your wife." Aria says as she starts to walk away.
"What do you mean?" I ask as I grab her by the hand.
"That I want a divorce." She tells me hatefully.
"Fine by me." I say evenly.
Major trouble in paradise! Just to clarify, Aria didn't know that Jem and Taylor were playing hide and seek with Caroline. She thought they were playing with each other. (Sorry for any confusion) Who do you blame for the big fight? Aria or Ezra? Will Jem be okay? I'll update as soon as I get 15 reviews. Thanks for reading and happy Halloween :)
