Here's the duel between Jaylin and Alexis. This will be a bit more intense, compared to the last duel. Hopefully, it will be entertaining. I'm also going to focus on Jaylin a tad on this one, because I want to bring a bit more of her character before I get to the Society of Light stuff. Review please!
Yugi yawned, waking up and noticing the sun glaring through his window. He got up on his feet and dragged them across the floor, since he didn't want Jaylin to wake up starving. He noticed it was already cutting close to 8:30. He walked to the kitchen and, to his surprise, noticed a five-year-old Jaylin already eating some toast and butter on the table with a glass of milk she poured herself. Yugi looked back inside the room, and now noticed that the lump on Jaylin's air mattress was only a pillow.
Jaylin looked up meekly, already having taken a bite of her toast.
"Morning Princess. Not that I'm not impressed, but you could've got me up to make you some breakfast," Yugi said with a cheerful smile as Jaylin looked up at him.
"I didn't want to wake you and make you mad," Jaylin said.
"You think I'll be mad, if you woke me up?" Yugi asked as Jaylin nodded. He laughed, then kissed Jaylin on her head. "I promise I will never be mad at you waking me up. My friends used to wake me up in the middle of the night as high school kids. It's no big deal."
"Okay."
"Besides, you're going to end up missing tuna rice balls."
"Mmmmm!" Jaylin grinned as her and Yugi both laughed.
"I'm especially going to need someone to wake me up soon to take you to school tomorrow."
"Aw... I don't like school."
"Eh, if I said it was any fun, I'd probably be lying. I don't exactly like school either, but... you know, it's school that puts a roof over your head, and gives you food on your plate."
"Really?" Jaylin asked with such surprise in her eyes.
"That's right! That's why I'm still in school now. I'm going to become an Archaeologist, and go around the world to discover bits of history. Though, I need the training to do it, and it all starts with Elementary School."
"Oh," Jaylin replied, taking another bite of her toast. Yugi couldn't erase the smile off his face, walking to the kitchen to make himself two pieces of toast and jelly. "Daddy, you're the only person I know that went to the orphanage to adopt someone. Nobody ever goes there. Why did you?"
"Hm..." Yugi responded, spreading the red jelly on his toast. "I guess you could say it was getting lonely living on my own."
"You got lonely?"
"I did."
Jaylin drank her milk, wiping the milk mustache on her lip, then taking another bite of her toast. Yugi sat down across from the young girl, eating his toast and jelly. He examined Jaylin, while she was eating. She was very active and social, but also seemed distant too. Yugi couldn't explain the distant part, but she seemed unsure about things.
"So Princess, do you have any friends, besides the twin girls at the orphanage?" Yugi asked.
"There's this new kid, Shon. He stays with us girls, because nobody likes him at school," Jaylin said, her eyes looking at her toast.
"I see. What are your friends like?"
"Katal is funny and cool. Kathle is usually the quiet type, though is alot of fun. I don't know much about Shon, besides that nobody likes him, but he's cool."
"They sound like good friends."
"M-hm," Jaylin nodded, chewing the toast in her mouth.
"Do you like it here?" Yugi asked as Jaylin snapped her head up.
"I do! You're always nice, and never get mad at me. But, I guess that's what makes you my daddy," Jaylin replied as Yugi smiled.
"Princess," Yugi said softly as Jaylin kept her eyes locked on her father. "You want to take a walk?"
"M-hm!" Jaylin nodded, getting off her chair, since she finished eating, and entered her and Yugi's room to change. It was only about five seconds before she arrived with a white shirt and a pair of pink overalls with white tennis shoes. "I'm ready!"
"Not yet. Let me do your hair," Yugi said, getting out a white brush as Jaylin sighed, walking to him.
Jaylin shut her eyes tightly, while taking a deep breath, as she felt the slight dug from the bottom of her hair. Yugi rubbed his thumb against the bottom strands of Jaylin's hair. The bottom of Jaylin's hair pointed in different directions, and the bottom strands seemed to be slightly split... split ends. Yugi's eyes furrowed.
"When was the last you got a haircut?" Yugi asked.
"Um... I think it was a few months ago, though I don't really remember," Jaylin replied.
"I think I might need to take you in for a cut. You've got strands doing the splits. Whoever brushes your hair must've been really rough. Did it ever hurt when someone brushed your hair?"
"Yes," Jaylin replied nervously.
"Then, I'll be gentle," Yugi promised, carefully brushing Jaylin's hair from the bottom up. Jaylin slowly began showing a peaceful smile.
"YO JAAAAAAYLIN!" Alexis called from outside of the bathroom stall Jaylin was inside.
"Huh? Yes?" Jaylin replied, coming out of daydreaming, almost jumping from the pot.
"I was saying you better hurry up for our tournament. It starts in ten minutes!"
"S-Sorry. I'll hurry up. I'm on number 2 right now."
"Okay. I'll be at the auditorium," Alexis replied, leaving the restroom.
Jaylin sighed, finishing her business before wiping herself, pulling up her pants, leaving the stall, and exiting from the bathroom. She made her way to the auditorium, shuffling her deck, then stood at the foot of the stage. She heard Dr. Crowler announcing hers and Alexis' duel, then made her way up the stage. Alexis stood across from her, shoving her deck into her duel disk as Jaylin did the same.
The girls played Rock-Paper-Scissors to decide who would go first. Alexis was first and Jaylin was second. They both drew five cards in their hand, Alexis drawing her first card.
"I place a monster face-down, then fold one more card and end my turn!" Alexis declared as the audience clapped for the end of her turn.
Jaylin drew her next card and declared, "I place Hero Kid in defense mode, then throw down two face-downs, and end my turn!" A kid in an astronaut suit appeared on the field in a defense position before the audience clapped for the end of her turn.
Alexis drew her next card, peering at her hand, while trying to figure out what Jaylin was planning. She didn't seem like she was planning for an attack. Did she see through her face-down monster? Either way, Alexis still had a few things up her sleeve. She smirked, "I summon out Snow Fairy!" A small fairy made of ice appeared on the field in attack mode. "Then, I activate White Blizzard!" A huge snowy blizzard engulfed the entire field as Alexis began forming a smirk. "My Snow Fairy attacks your Hero Kid." Snow Fairy flew up in the air, and shot ice crystals at Hero Kid with its body, bursting it from the field. After that, a strong blizzard hit Jaylin, bringing her life points down to 3400. "That will be all. I end!" The audience clapped for the end of Alexis' turn.
Jaylin drew her next card, looking through her hand. She declared, "I summon Elemental Hero Frostblade in defense mode, then end my turn." The little ice man Elemental HERO appeared on the field in a defense position as the audience clapped for the end of her turn.
"Well, you just ran out of luck," Alexis smirked, after drawing her next card, flip-summoning her face-down monster Snowman Eater. "I use its effect to destroy Frost Blade! I don't know, if you were expecting Frost Blade to be safe from Snowman Eater, but Frost Blade's effect only works on monsters' level 4 or above, not those below level 4!" Snowman Eater opened its giant mouth and gobbled Elemental HERO Frost Blade whole. "Now, you're wide open! My Snow Fairy attacks you directly!" Snow Fairy flew up in the air and shot ice crystals from its body.
"Actually, I expected you to destroy my Frost Blade! That's why I set up this trap, Rookie Fight!" Jaylin smirked as she activated her trap card. She searched through her deck, then summoned out Hero Kid, then another Hero Kid, in defense mode. The ice crystals destroyed one of the Hero Kids, bursting it from the field. Another blizzard hit and Jaylin was left with 2800 life points remaining.
"Did you forget about my White Blizzard?"
"Well, being that there's holographic snow..." Jaylin shrugged as Alexis sighed.
"Fine, I end my turn with one face-down card," Alexis decided, folding one card in her Spell and Trap Card Zone, as the audience clapped for the end of her turn.
Jaylin drew her next card, then said, "I summon Woodsman in defense mode." The audience applauded for the summon of Elemental HERO Woodsman, the green and brown HERO. "I also activate Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy your White Blizzard!" White Blizzard burst from the field. Alexis place her face-down card in her graveyard. "I throw down another face-down and end my turn." The audience clapped for the end of Jaylin's turn.
'I don't understand, why isn't Jaylin attacking. During our last duel, she was letting me hit her monsters as a challenge for herself, but this time I know she's taking me seriously. What is she up to? What's she planning?' Alexis questioned to herself. Her eyebrows narrowed, then rose straight up. 'Wait a second!' "I play Ice Doll Mirror!" A large mirror appeared on the field, then out came an ice sculpture looking doll. "Then, I will sacrifice my Ice Doll and Snowman Eater to bring out Blizzard Princess!" Ice Doll and Snowman Eater disappeared from the field and out came a girl with blue hair in a white dress and crown upon her head, carrying an ice wand, hooked to an icy chain, which was hooked to a big icy cannon ball. The audience applauded and cheered for the summon of Blizzard Princess, who took a hold of her wand with two hands, showing her preppy smirk. "This little princess will take care of your Woodsman!" Blizzard Princess whirled the ice ball chain over her head like she was on a rodeo, then threw the ice ball right at Elemental HERO Woodsman, bursting it from the field, as Jaylin cursed herself from under her breath. "Guess that threw off whatever combo you were trying to pull off. My Snow Fairy attacks your Hero Kid!" Snow Fairy shot ice crystals from its body, directly at Hero Kid, and burst it from the field. "I end my turn." The audience clapped for the end of Alexis' turn.
Jaylin drew her next card, feeling the heat of the game. She declared, "I place one card face-down, then activate my other face-down card Miracle Fusion on my two monsters Frost Blade and Woodsman!"
"Wait, you mean you let me destroy them just so you could..." Alexis glared as Jaylin winked.
"That's the ticket!" Jaylin replied as Elemental HERO Frost Blade and Elemental HERO Woodsman fused together in the light and appeared as the ice-cold Elemental HERO. The audience applauded for the summon of that Elemental HERO. "While this might or might not be a good advantage for me, depending on which side of the argument, in your case... well..." Alexis watched as Elemental HERO Absolute Zero's attack rose to 3000.
"God damnit!" Alexis snapped.
"It'd be a shame, if I didn't try out Absolute Zero on your monsters. I'll have my monster attack your Snow Fairy," Jaylin smirked as Elemental HERO Absolute Zero blasted an ice chilling blast at Snow Fairy until...
"I activate my trap, Ice Barrier!" Alexis cried out as Elemental HERO Absolute Zero froze in a block of ice, its attack points dropping to 0.
"Aw well, guess that ends my turn," Jaylin replied as the audience clapped for the end of her turn. Elemental HERO Absolute Zero thawed from the block of ice and its attack returned to 3000.
"Wow, I've never seen a duel this intense since... well, I guess last year's duels," Carl shrugged.
"Well, rivals do tend to have more heated duels than anyone else," Ronda said.
"I agree. Nothing's more enjoyable than a good duel between two rivals that match each other more than anyone. Being that Jaylin and Alexis have dueled a number of times on the table before the actual duel, it would make sense for them to have a heated battle," Bastion said.
"Funny and ironic, being that Alexis is using an ice deck," Ronda chuckled.
"I guess it is, in a way," Carl shrugged.
"Whatever! I know my Jaylie is going to win this!" Chazz smirked.
"Your Jaylie? WOW! You're such a Casanova," Carl teased as Chazz shot her a glare. "Relax, I'm just messing with ya!"
"You know, if Jaylin wins this, she'll be able to get the duel with Zane she's always wanted," Ronda pointed out.
"Huh?" Chazz asked confused.
"Didn't she tell you? Zane and Jaylin actually were competitors at the Junior Grand Pix. She fell, while running up on stage, and was disqualified due to injury. She thinks dueling Zane in this competition would be her way of making up for that," Ronda explained.
"What!? But that's impossible! That would mean she-" Chazz glared, then his eyes widen, staring at Jaylin.
"She what?" Carl asked with slightly furrowed eyebrows.
"AND HERE'S OUR NEXT CONTESTANTS!" The announcer called out. Young Chazz Princeton was standing with the other finalists as a young girl with brown hair in pigtails, all braided up, ran through the kids, pushing them aside. She wore a pair of jeans and a pink shirt, looking very cute to say the least. "WE HAVE ZANE TRUESDALE AND JAY-" Suddenly, the girl tripped and fell off the stage. There was a sound of "Ohhhhhhh." from the audience.
Suddenly, there was a loud, screeching cry that could be heard all around the stage, enough to be heard around the dome and miles around. Chazz pushed himself from the children, staring in horror at the poor girl crying her heart out. He then heard the doors burst open, from the entrance to the stage, revealing a frantic Yugi Moto running to the young girl's aid.
"Princess! Princess!" Yugi cried out, turning Jaylin over and seeing the blood on her nose and lips. "Oh my god." He carried her bridal style and rushed her back through the double doors.
"Wow," Jagger smirked.
"Why did he call her Princess?" Chazz asked his brothers.
"I think the answer should already be right in front of you. Yugi kidnapped that girl away from her parents, and now is claiming her as his daughter. Just goes to show that even the most famous people can be bad people."
Chazz did eventually stop believing everything his brothers said, being that they were jerks to him almost all the time. Though, so many questions boggled his mind now. Jaylin did always talk to her father over the phone, calling him 'Daddy.' That Daddy was Yugi Moto, the king of games. Why would Jaylin keep something like that from everyone, especially given that he came to visit Duel Academy only several months ago?
