Monday Connections
The Teen Titans
Dick rubbed his eyes, sitting up in his bed and trying to remember the strange dream he just had. Mainly it was a bunch of faces connected by a ton of lines only for them all to morph together in one giant collision. It all started with four faces: Wally, Megan, Conner, and himself. Jumping out of his bed and walking down the long staircase, he tried to understand the meaning of such a dream as his mother always told him dreams had meaning. "Dick?" Selina called out. Ever since Bruce and her began dating, she started living in the Wayne Mansion, not that he minded.
She was pretty badass.
"Hey Selina," he sat down next to her at the kitchen table. It was also a relief on Alfred as she loved to cook all three meals while Alfred only enjoyed cooking dessert. She placed down a plate of pancakes in front of him which he eagerly devoured. "Thank you!" he said, his mouth completely full.
"Nice table manners," she smirked. Dick snorted and swallowed his food, looking at her in curiosity.
"Do you believe that dreams have meaning?"
"Course I do," she instantly replied. "Why? What'd you dream about?"
"Faces," Dick mumbled. "It started off with Conner, Megan, and I then it just started adding more and more. Wally's face lead to Roy, and Roy's face led to Jade's face. It just kept going like that, and it was pretty strange.
"You mean you were dreaming about the Teen Titans?" Selina's lip curled in a tiny smile. At Dick's confused glance, she elaborated, "Remember when you ruined my dress? You were telling your boyfriend about the first meeting of the Teen Titans. I assume that's who you were dreaming about?"
"Yeah…" Dick crossed his legs. As she stared at him with obvious curiosity, he couldn't help but start spilling out stories of what's been happening ever since that Saturday detention. How people who would never talk were now best friends (Jade and Barbara; Artemis and Kaldur; Dick and Megan; and Conner and Wally). He mentioned how that Saturday detention caused many people to start dating as well (Wally and Dick; Conner and Megan; and Roy and Jade). As he continued, Selina stared at Dick rather thoughtfully. "And that's probably what my dream was about."
"I see…" Selina straightened her back and clasped her hands together. "Well I think I know what your dream was trying to tell you."
"Saturday detentions completely break all social norms?" Dick suggested.
"That, and something else…" she smirked. "You're good with computers, right?"
"Yeah?"
"Then grab one. I have an idea."
Dick couldn't stop beaming on the ride to school, and Selina couldn't stop giggling. The two of them seemed to make a pretty good team, and Dick was thankful for that. After all, she could become his future mother figure if Bruce ever proposed although it was way too early to think of that. "Okay, remember the plan!" Selina whispered as they pulled up to the school. "Not too many people but not too few people."
"Got it," Dick winked, hopping out of the car and waving her goodbye. As he watched the car fly away, he felt arms encircling around his waist and a kiss on his neck. "Hi Wally," he rolled his eyes, turning around and meeting those green eyes he fell in love with. He pecked him on the lips and smiled at him. "How are you on this lovely morning?"
"Tired," Wally grumbled as they started walking towards the school. His hand was still around Dick's waist which he didn't mind at all. "I hate Monday's."
"Really? I hate Wednesday's," Dick said. "They tease you by saying Friday's in two days but Monday was too days ago."
"Eh, still closer to Friday than a Monday is," he argued.
"Whatever," the smaller boy shook his head. "Wally, I have an idea. Well Selina and I had an idea, but it's still a great one!"
"What is it?"
Dick smirked and whispered the plan into his ear.
"You okay?" Conner asked, holding Megan's hand for support. The short haired girl nodded, taking in a deep breath and smiling at her boyfriend.
"Yeah," she whispered. "I'll be fine."
"Okay," he kissed the side of her head and squeezed her hand lightly. She smiled and slightly leaned into him, happy to have her boyfriend and her old life back. When some of the students saw her, they started whispering although she couldn't tell what they were talking about. Only a select few people knew about her condition, so they were probably talking about how the "whore" was back with a new man on her arm.
"Hey slut," a cocky teenage boy walked over to her. Conner frowned heavily and noticed a couple of the boy's friends were watching, about to start laughing. "Why were you gone for so long? Maybe we can catch up?" He winked in a flirtatious manner.
Before Conner or Megan could defend her, a textbook harshly hit the back of the boy's head making him cry out in pain. Conner and Megan blinked in surprise as the boy went straight down, clutching his head with a pained gasp. Artemis was standing over him, a large text book in her hands as she smirked down at him. "Say anything like that to her again, and I'll make sure you're life becomes a living Hell."
The boy shot up, screeching at her, "What the hell you dumb-"
"Sexual harassment," a new voice came in. Conner and Megan turned to see Barbara standing there with an innocent smile. "That, my dear friend, was sexual harassment according to our laws. And, since my dad is the commissioner, I'm sure he wouldn't take well to find out one of my friends is being sexually harassed."
"Well your friend just hit me over the head!" he shouted back.
"Out of self-defense," Barbara pouted. "You verbally harassed Megan with sexual leer making it sexual harassment. Artemis had every right to make Megan feel safe in her own school. Now don't bother her again, or you'll regret it."
The boy glanced between Artemis, Barbara, Conner, and Megan before scoffing and running off. Megan blinked at her saviors, who high fived each other with grins on their faces. Slowly two of her old bullies turned to her, blushing in outright embarrassment. "Um…" Artemis breathed out. "We're really sorry for all the mean things we've said about you."
"And we want to make it up to you by helping you out in school," Barbara smiled shyly. "Maybe one day you'll forgive us and we can become friends?"
Megan stared at the two, tears coming to her eyes before she literally leaped at the two girls and gave them both hugs at the same time. Barbara and Artemis smiled and hugged her back endearingly. "Hey," Artemis smirked at Conner. "Let's get the hot boyfriend in on this action."
The other two girls burst into giggles as Conner raised a confused eyebrow. "Yeah!" Wally's voice made them all separate. "Let's get the hot boyfriend in on this!"
All of a sudden, Megan was once again hugged by her best friend. "Wally!" she cried out, wrapping her arms around his neck as he literally picked her up and started spinning her eagerly.
"How dare you tell your boyfriend you're back before me!" they both laughed as he still spun her around. "I thought it was bros before hoes!"
Megan burst out laughing as he placed her down and engulfed her in another big hug. "Although," he whispered loudly so everyone could hear it. "We could be more than bros! I could be your new hoe!"
"You haven't changed a bit," Megan giggled, slapping Wally's arm lightly. Wally shrugged and innocently winked at Conner, who was scolding at the obvious flirtation. At his wink, Conner relaxed and laughed at the joke.
"Megan!" Dick smiled, giving her yet another hug.
"Dick!" she smiled, hugging him back.
"Hey Megan," he smiled. "Looks like everyone beat me at giving you a welcome back! Even Artemis and Barbara."
"We were the first ones," Barbara stated proudly.
Dick nodded, smiling proudly at Barbara, who beamed back. "Oh!" Dick exclaimed to the entire group. "Get Saturday detention's for this week!"
"Excuse me?" Barbara blinked.
"No seriously!" Wally grinned. "There's this really cool idea Dick and Selina came up with—"
"Selina?" Megan mumbled into Conner's ear.
"And you guys all need to show up so we can explain! I don't care what you do. Just make sure you get a Saturday detention this week." Wally finished with an award winning smile.
They all glanced at each other before Artemis just shrugged. "I've got nothing better to do this Saturday."
"Can Jade come?" Barbara asked.
"Please," Artemis snorted. "She'll probably be in there anyway."
Conner nodded at the idea of getting a Saturday only to frown at Wally. "Wait, I thought this would be your first Saturday without a detention."
"Not anymore," Wally replied. "So if I can sacrifice my third Saturday for another detention, I'm sure you guys can too!"
They all glanced at each other before Megan grinned. "Why not?"
"Great!" Dick smiled, hugging her again just as the bell rang. "Okay class time!"
Artemis and Barbara quickly hurried away from the group, but Conner and Megan found their wrists being held tightly as if it were a silent plea not to go to class just yet. "Wally?" Megan frowned, staring at her best friend who wore a mischievous grin.
"Dick?" Conner warned.
"What?" Dick smiled. "Don't you want to know about what we plan to do this Saturday?"
Conner and Megan glanced at each other before nodding rather eagerly. Wally and Dick smirked and began informing them of the plan.
"Garth?" Kaldur approached his older brother, who was making plans for the wedding. Tula was nowhere to be found, and Kaldur figured she was out making other wedding plans with her friends. His older brother turned to him and smiled.
"Hey Kal. What's up?"
Kaldur bit his lip and stared at him with slight nervousness. "I used to be in love with Tula."
Garth blinked. And blinked again. His mouth dropped open as he tried to think of something to say to his little brother. He could only stammer out. "W-wait what?"
Kaldur would have normally laughed at his face if it wasn't such a serious moment. "I used to be in love with Tula, but I'm not anymore."
"When?!" Garth exclaimed, most likely trying to think of all the moments Kaldur showed remote interest for his fiancée. Clearly he could think of none as he continued to gap at his little brother.
"When we were kids," Kaldur shrugged. "I was having a pretty hard time coming to terms with the fact that you two were getting married, but then I met someone. Her name is Artemis, and she was going through something similar with her best friend and his boyfriend. We kind of bonded over that, and she's been helping me ever since. Now I'm not in love with her anymore. I just wanted to tell you that I used to be."
"Why?" Garth whispered. "Why didn't you tell me when I started dating her?"
"Because you would have broken up with her," he replied. "I didn't want to ruin your relationship. I wanted you both to be happy."
He didn't mention how the thought the relationship would end on its own time. "I'm glad you told me now," Garth said, placing a hand on his brother's shoulder. "I'm sorry I never noticed."
"It's fine," Kaldur smiled up at his brother. "So no hard feelings?"
"None at all." Garth smiled. "Actually I was just wondering if you would like to be my man of honor."
Kaldur blinked. "Wait… what?"
"I've been thinking it over for a while, and I want you to be my man of honor," Garth patted his shoulder. "You can invite someone to the wedding as well if you want."
"I…" Kaldur gaped, unsure of how to respond to that request. "I would be honored to."
"Alright!" his older brother beamed. "Now I have to take you to school before you're late!"
The moment from this morning kept playing back in Kaldur's mind. He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't notice someone was waiting at his locker until he opened it. "Hey Kaldur," Raquel's hands were visibly shaking. "How are you today?"
"I'm good. Yourself?" Kaldur asked.
"Good," she took a deep breath. "Kaldur, I really like you."
There was shock number two of the day. "What?" Kaldur blurted out unintentionally and rather stupidly. She liked him? Since when? He tried to think of any times she shown interest in him, and he couldn't think of anything.
"I've liked you for a while, and it's why I joined the newspaper club." Raquel sighed. "I just wanted to tell you because I know you're dating Artemis, and I just wanted to get it off my chest."
Kaldur's eyebrows furrowed. "I'm not dating Artemis."
Raquel blinked. "Y-you're not? But you're always with her and whispering to her and… don't you two like each other?"
"No," Kaldur never thought of Artemis like that, and he's sure she's never thought of him in a romantic light.
"O-oh," Raquel blushed. "I made a fool of myself."
"No, you didn't," Kaldur reassured her. "If you want, we can hang out this Friday after the newspaper club? Get to know each other better?"
Her face brightened. "Sure!" she smiled. "I'll see you there?"
"Yeah," Kaldur softly smiled as she skipped away.
"Aw!" Artemis's voice interrupted the short silence. Kaldur turned to his best friend who was smirking. Clearly she just witnessed the whole exchange. "That's so cute."
"Hello Artemis," Kaldur rolled his eyes.
"I knew she liked you," Artemis beamed. "And you like her."
"I do?"
"Hell yeah," Artemis lightly punched his shoulder. "Good luck."
"Thank you," Kaldur smiled softly only to frown, pondering something for a moment. "My brother's wedding is coming up, and he's made me his man of honor."
Artemis's eyes brightened at the news. "Kaldur that's great!"
"He always wished for me to invite a friend, and I wish to invite you," Kaldur calmly said.
She pretended to think it over for a moment. "Sure. I'll go but only if you get a Saturday detention this weekend."
"A what?"
"Saturday detention," Artemis said as though it was the most obvious thing to do. "Dick told me I could invite one person to this Saturday detention thing, and I picked you. I have no idea what he has planned for it, but he said it was going to be good. Will you break your little good streak and join the dark side with me Kaldur?"
Kaldur smiled. "Sure. I've always wondered what a Saturday detention would be like."
"Seriously?" Artemis snorted, and the two of them began walking to class together.
"Of course. I've never gotten one before."
"Okay that I can believe."
Both of them laughed.
"It's a girl." Roy stated once again. "I've told you a hundred times, and I'm going to tell you again; she is going to be out daughter."
"Sure." Jade snorted. "Whatever you say Mr. Psychic."
Roy pouted. Both of them were sitting at their lunch table, patiently waiting for the rest of their group to show up. As they waited, they decided to bring up the topic of their baby once again. Roy already scheduled a meeting the day before with his parents, requesting them to come over. Although he didn't tell them why yet, they could sense urgency behind their son's request.
"Let's say it was a girl," Jade suddenly said. "What should we name her?"
Roy thought about it for a moment. "I don't know."
She nodded. "I can think of some names."
"Cool." Roy stared at her for a moment. "Jade?"
"Yeah?"
"Should we get married?"
Jade blinked, thinking it over for a moment. "Why would we get married?"
"Cause we're having a kid." He stated. "And we have sex on a regular basis which is kind of why we're having a kid, and none of my girlfriends have ever met my parents before?"
"Girlfriends?" Jade raised an eyebrow. "What? I'm your girlfriend now?"
"Well yeah," the redheaded boy stated as though it were obvious. "And if you want to, you can be my fiancée too."
Jade stared at him, her eyes searching his. He tried to keep a calm demeanor but his heart was pounding much to fast in his chest. If he could see himself, he would realize that his cheeks were beginning to look extremely red due to his blushing. "Maybe." Jade answered. "To the fiancé thing."
"And to the girlfriend thing?"
"I thought you just said we were already dating?" she smirked teasingly.
"Yeah well," Roy blushed, scratching the back of his neck. "Just making sure you know."
The two stared at each other for a moment before leaning in to kiss. It was rather brief compared to their other kisses, but it was their first one as an official couple. Somehow it felt different but in some ways the same. "Wow," Barbara's teasing voice interrupted the couple's moment. "It's about time."
Artemis, who stood next to Barbara, had her face scrunched in slight dislike but sat down anyway. "It only took her getting pregnant for you guys to realize it."
Barbara beamed. "Have you guys decided on a name yet?"
Jade smirked. "Some names. Roy's convinced it's a girl."
Artemis rolled her eyes, but Barbara stared quizzically at Jade. "Because she is. Can't you tell?"
"No?" Jade tiled her head to the side. Roy, who smirked in victory, gave a high five to Barbara which resulted in her laughing.
"Well it seems like everyone's in a good mood," Dick looked down at his lunch table with Kaldur next to him.
"We sure are," Jade smiled. "What's up?"
Kaldur sat down next to Artemis, and Dick plopped himself in between Roy and Barbara. "We all need to get Saturday detention's this week."
"Done." Jade stated calmly.
"What?" Roy exclaimed. "I've never gotten a Saturday before! Ever!"
Jade snickered, whispering softly in his ear, "You've always never gotten a girl pregnant before. Might as well start getting detentions too."
Dick, who didn't hear her, just smiled. "Wally, Megan, Conner, and I all have something awesome planned. You guys have to be there for it!"
"Kaldur?" Roy asked. "You're okay with this?"
"Yep." He shrugged. "Might as well get one Saturday before the end of high school."
Jade snorted as Roy paled. He nodded his head anyway, signifying he would get the Saturday detention. "Awesome!" Dick beamed. "It's going to be great!"
"It better be," Jade claimed, reaching over the table and stealing one of Dick's onion rings from his tray.
"I promise it will be!"
Bart and Jaime were walking down the streets of Gotham with ice cream in their hands. It was a comfortable silence which was rare between them either due to Bart's ranting or Jaime's mumblings to himself. Of course, the silence wouldn't last for long, and they both knew that. As they sat down on one of the park benches, they both finished the treats in their hands. This time it was Jaime that broke it which was rather rare. "How are you?" he asked.
"I'm good," Bart beamed. "I'm going to be officially adopted this Tuesday, and I'm starting school on Wednesday. It should be really fun!"
"That's great," Jaime smiled at his friend.
"It is!" Bart smiled back. Another silence dawned upon them as they stared at each other. Neither of their gazes breaks as they lean towards the other, pressing their foreheads lightly together. Both seem to close their eyes at the same time, and their lips meet. To both of them, it was their first kiss. As their lips softly moved against the other, Jaime's hands rose up and lightly cupped Bart's cheeks. Bart, on the other hand, just wrapped his arms around Jaime's neck.
The kiss was slow and relaxing. Both seemed to pour their fears and love into it, and the kiss remained completely innocent. Finally both pulled back, once again at the same time, and stared into each other's eyes. "I like you a lot," Jaime breathed out.
Bart's eyes softened. "Me too."
Jaime blushed and bit his lip. "Want to go on a date?"
"U-um… yeah. I'd…um… I'd really like that." Bart blushed back, smiling.
Jaime grinned happily and suddenly both were leaning in again. Their lips met in yet another kiss, and for once Jaime could have sworn that for the first time in a long time, his head was completely silent.
Instead of focusing on that though, he just continued to kiss his new boyfriend.
