Chapter 35: The Promise

At night, after we have our delicious dinner, we prepare our things for London City. Chitose tells us to bring an extra pair of cloth, and as London isn't cold as here, we don't need to bring an extra jacket. Also, she tells us that towel is very important to us, because we will get sweaty easily as boys. We pack what she told us to. There's still room in our bag, so Toya and I decided to bring our Golems figurine actions that Chitose bought us.

Well, guess it still has a room. So Chitose puts some breads and thermos in our bags. Wow, looking at this stuff makes me excited. Excited… how many times I feel excited already this week?

After that she tells us to sleep earlier. Of course we will, but first, Toya and I want to plan our first trip to outside world. So Toya pulls some books from his room and we will decide on what place we will go. We promise Chitose we will sleep at ten. Chitose looks tired already, so she sleeps first.

That leaves me Toya and me in the living room. Other Golems still stay on guard in their own place, but Toya just ignores them. I want to ignore them too, but can't, for I know the reason they are here.

"So, first we go to the museum… Eh? Atsuma? Atsuma? Are you listening?" He pulls my shoulder as I watch the Golems in my usual seat when I stare to the moon.

"Ah!" I surprise. "Yes, yes, of course. Museum, right?"

"Ok, so we decided on what we should go first. Now it's your turn to decide." He continues.

I don't pay attention on him, so I'm ignoring him again. He then slaps my back and yells at me. What I can say just a couple of sorry. He really easily pissed off. We spend our 30 minutes to plan our trip. We finished at 21.15, we still have time to chat, but Toya decides to sleep. I should go to sleep too, but I end up looking outside again. It's not the moon I look at, I see whether there's a shadow man or not. Thank God, there's nothing but the plain snowfield. I can sleep in peace tonight.

'BRAKK!'

I wake up after hearing that loud noise outside. The sound that I heard just now is like a door being open forcefully. Was that the shadow man!? Is he coming through the house? No, it can't be. There are lots of powerful Golems guarding this house.

"Atsuma! Atsuma! Wake up!" That's Chitose's voice.

She breaks open into my room. I can see Toya is behind her, his face is pale.

"What's wrong?" I ask Chitose.

"Quick! Grab your bag and run to the warehouse." Chitose throws my bag that we just arranged at me. I'm helping myself to put my bag to my shoulder, but Chitose doesn't wait for it. Instead she grabs me and pushes Toya to the warehouse.

Outside was totally awful. Many Golems are not Chitose's, and they attack hers. Not only that, I can see a lot of military tanks, waiting outside our house. I catch a glimpse of a man, standing in the middle, not far from the tanks.

"Chitose! I know you are inside!" A man shouts. "If you give me the research data, I'll leave you in peace and you can stay in Yokohama without any fear again, just like the old times."

After that, there's an earthquake cause by one of the tanks' bullet. We duck near the sofa in the living room.

"Never! You murderer! You think I don't know what's your plan is? I'll take Seiji and my research data to Yokohama and let the world know about the fact." Chitose shouts back to the man.

"You fool! You don't know what you can do, what you can gain if you use that Last Golem. This whole world will be mine!" He yells like crazy and orders the tanks to blow the bullets again.

We squat to the warehouse. Golems are still fighting. I'm scared, Toya's scared too, but Chitose shows no fear on her face.

"Give me the data now and I'll spare your life!" He continues his crazy screaming.

Chitose ignores him and pushes us to crawl faster. The man still shouts like crazy person outside. Finally we arrive at the front of the warehouse. Suddenly, a golem from enemy's side attack us. Chitose pulls her gun and shoots it, right in the eye. More enemy Golems come after hearing that gun fired.

"Go! Sebastian and Primrose are waiting in the car." Chitose yells at us.

My feet tremble. My tears won't stop. My ears hurt. I can't move, I don't want to leave Chitose. She keeps fighting, her Golems who see this, help her too. But that's not enough, Chitose is outnumbered.

Suddenly, Toya pulls my arm and he open the warehouse door.

"What!? Toya! How about Chitose!?" I shout.

"She'll be fine. If we still in there, we'll be her burden. We can't fight and she needs to fight to protect herself too." Toya says. There's an uncertain tone in his voice.

In the warehouse, we still can hear the fighting. We keep going in to the secret passage. There are Sebastian and Primrose already waiting us in the car. Toya pulls me to get in the car. But I pull his arm.

"What about Chitose? She's still there." I insist to rescue Chitose.

"We wait her here." Toya puts his hand on my shoulders.

We order Sebastian and Primrose to wait for a while. I'm so worried of Chitose. She can't be lose, right? She's so smart and so strong. She can fight two Golems without any help. She'll be Ok. I tell that to myself over and over again.

We can't hear anything in this secret passage. It's so calm in here. But I know up in this secret passage, there's still a war. Suddenly there's big explosion that cause an earthquake again. It's bigger than before. Sebastian and Primrose tell us we should depart to London City now. Toya tells them to wait for Chitose, but they've already ordered by Chitose if something really bad is happening, they should take us to London City without her. Sebastian readies to start the engine. I'm more worried of Chitose so I burst out from the car.

"Atsuma, what are you doing?" Toya shouts at me.

"I… I need to go to check on her" I say, then I run with all my might.

"Come back here! Atsuma." Toya shouts.

The car starts without me inside it. I'm sorry, Toya, but Chitose is our family. If something happen to her, I'll protect her. I have a power to absorb the ether from Golem, maybe my power can help Chitose. I promise, Chitose and I will go to London City together and we will reunite again. I promise…
