Chapter Thirty-Four
July 29th, Year XXX9
Location: United States
Place: Pomona, Texas
It was the best week of her life and she knew that if things were different, life would be so much better but she also knew better. She is the child of not only the current Vice Prime Minister of Earth, Relena PeaceCraft but also the child of the famous Wing Zero ex-Gundam Pilot, Heero Yuy. A normal life is next to impossible until the threat towards their family has been taken care of.
From the day they picked up their friends from the airport, their endless conversations and plans began. This past week has been an adventure; shopping, movies, hanging out and repeat – including going to a semi carnival fair, nature walk at Sam Houston National Forest and a beach day at Galveston. Between the week, Taylor came around and announced that he and his family will be leaving Texas for Canada which didn't go well with Rhea but made promises to spend more time the next time they meet. Donovan didn't react but the two did shake hands. Overall, it was so normal just like any normal young girls who have a week off to be with their friends. Fulfilled and everyone was satisfied. Last night, they made future plans and promises that are inexcusable to be broken which would take another year – they plan on meeting up to camp again next year.
Slowly, Gwen opened her eyes and found herself staring at the ceiling of the multi-colored mural that she and her twin sister, Rhea have painted together which their Father happily added on the treehouse. She turned her head to the left and found Rhea sleeping peacefully, next to her are Lana, Janice and Julie. Also, which was awesome, Susan joined in the fun and became great friends with the other girls. Gwen smiled before turning her head to the right and found Elizabeth and Maya sleeping but found Flora getting up and stretched. Getting up herself, she carefully moved Rhea's arm off her waist. "Good morning Flora."
Flora smiled at her. "Good morning, Gwen." She slowly moved away from Maya and stood up. "I don't know about you but I'm hungry and need to use the bathroom."
Gwen stood up too. "I'm hungry too, let's go to the house and make something. Dad still won't let use the kitchen in here until he knew that it's safe for us to use."
They put on their shoes before exiting the tree house. As they crossed the lawn, they heard drills coming from the garage. Flora blinked at Gwen. "They start so early in the morning. This whole week, all they do is work when they're not hanging out with us."
"They work for my Dad so they do a little bit of everything. That's including babysitting Rhea and I when we're away from the house." Gwen explained, she slides the patio door that leads to the kitchen. "It's part of their work contract but they're very nice and cool to hang out with."
"Nothing against it but they sure are mature for their age, well, Donovan anyway. Owen's pretty laid back about everything and he can sing." Flora laughed and beeline for living room. "Be right back."
Gwen decided to make pancakes for breakfast. After collecting all of the ingredients, Flora returned from the bathroom. "Gwen, what's the story behind Rhea and Donovan."
Gwen wanted to laugh but held it in. "Why?" She decided.
"I'm sure you noticed that they like each other but they seem to be not together." Flora picked up the eggs. "Hands are clean." She started cracking them one by one. "How many eggs do we need?"
"Eight. Owen eats for five." Replied Gwen, she smiled at Flora. "Rhea got a full on crush on Donovan since the day she met him. Donovan on the other hand is very hard to read, one day he is friendly and the next cold but lately, he is friendly. But you are right, he likes her but how much is the question."
"Maybe it's the age difference and the fact that he works for your Dad what stops him." Flora said, she threw away the rubbish and rewashed her hands. "I noticed it a few days ago, he stays close to Rhea and Owen seems to always hang around you."
"Yeah, Owen's always favors being around me more because he knew that Don prefers being around Rhea." Gwen said, she started mixing the ingredients together. "Been like that since day one. Anyway, for right now they seem to be just friends."
"Sure, for now." Flora smirked; she nudged Gwen with her shoulder. "You have to let me know when they hook up."
Gwen then laughed. "Sure, you'll be the first to know."
The patio door opened, Lana and Janice walked in with Elizabeth. Lana spoke first. "Ohh, pancakes? Nice. I'll go wake up the others." She walked back out to the backyard again."
"This whole week flew by fast. Maybe we should call our parents to let us stay for another week. It's not like I'm missing anything if I don't go to Jamaica with them this year." Elizabeth said as she sat down on the bar chair. "What do you think Flora?"
"It's my Grandma's birthday party on Sunday; they expect me to go so I can't stay." Flora sadly sigh, she opened the bag of wheat bread. "Grandma's turning the big 7-0 and she expects ALL of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to attend. It's like a national holiday."
"I want to go to Jamaica…" Janice poked Elizabeth on the cheek with one finger. "Take me with you."
Elizabeth smiled widely. "We don't have to leave until Wednesday; I'll ask my parents when I see them tonight and give you a call. Since Gwen, Rhea and Susan will be traveling soon too, I'll ask Lana if she wants to go. Maya always go with us so two more shouldn't matter and my brother always bring friends with them, so, why can't I?"
This made Janice to cheer. "When you ask them, let me know and I'll talk to my parents." She turned to Gwen. "Where are you are going anyway, Gwen?"
"Dad said Korea but he didn't exactly say where. Mom said it's a surprise." Gwen smiled, though it didn't reached her ears, the other girls didn't notice. "It's a huge family gathering I'm hearing, my other Uncles and Aunts with their children are coming too."
"That's great." Flora said, she flipped the pancake and succeeded. "Yay, all that practices with your Dad the last few days paid off."
"Your Mom and Dad are so cool, Gwen, mine are awesome too but they're pretty special in their own way." Elizabeth said dreamily, "I want that someday. Someday, like in High school."
"That's so like you to dream about boys so early in the morning." Maya slipped through the open patio door with Lana, Susan, and Rhea behind her. "You're a kid, stop talking like that."
Elizabeth stuck out her tongue at Maya. "You shut up; I can't think like you, it's impossible."
Maya rolled her eyes; she walked up to Elizabeth and pokes her ribcage. "Brat."
Elizabeth giggled. Gwen and Flora finished making the pancakes. Julie silently walked over to the cupboard with Lana to set the tables. Elizabeth moved then and walked around the island to turn on the sink and Susan helped by picking up the dirty dishes.
"Rhea, tell Don and Owen that breakfast are ready. I'll go wake Mom and Dad." Gwen said, she stacked all the pancakes in three separate plates which Flora, Susan and Julie picked up to place on the table.
"See how bossy she is in the morning?" Rhea teased as she walked toward the patio door. "Such a nag."
"And you are slow, get moving." Gwen smirked.
"I'm going. I'm going." Rhea slide the door open and walked out, closing it behind her. She took a moment to breathe the fresh morning air before walking towards the garage. Along the way, she petted Bell and Prim who are playing near the door. She walked right in and found Owen looking over the hood of the Camaro. "Morning, Owen."
Owen turned his head and smiled. "Hi there, Princess." He turned his attention back on the engine. "This is the last of the cars; the owner will be here before we head out to take the girls to the airport."
"That's great. We're leaving after our parents, Uncle Duo and Aunt Hilde aren't we?" Rhea asked, she looked around the room and found Don behind the glass window of her Dad's office on the phone. "Is everything ready to go?"
"Yeah, our plans didn't go according to what we wanted due to the fact that the Preventers found a few hiccups along the way." Owen said, "We rather be safe than sorry."
"I understand." Rhea said, she walked over to the office and stick her head on the door where he heard Don on the phone.
"I know. We will rendezvous at the location in 2400hrs. Owen and I will escort all the Maxwell children along with the Princesses. So be on standby at the location." Don took a moment, listening on the other end. "Affirmative, don't slack off on the job. This is it. Alright, we will be seeing you. Bye." He hanged up and noticed Rhea at the door, he smiled. "Morning, Princess, did you girls have good night sleep?"
Rhea smiled and stepped inside the office. "We did. Thank you for standing guard. I saw you around midnight before I went to bed."
Don smirked, he saw her sneaked a peek from the window but won't mention that. "You are very welcome. What brings you to the garage so early in the morning?"
"Breakfast." Rhea said with a smile. "Gwen and Flora made pancakes, she sent me to let you guys know."
"Sure, I'll finish up and come on over with Owen." Don stood up, he picked up the files that were scattered around the table and pilled them into a neat pile. "We leave as soon as everyone is ready."
"Sure, I'll see you back at the house then." Rhea gave him one last look before leaving the room. She waved at Owen who looked up from under the hood. "Don't take too long, Owen."
"10 minutes! I'll be done in 10 minutes! Tell little Queen to not get angry!" Owen called after she left the garage.
Rhea smiled as she walked across the yard to the house. She saw her Mom and Dad sitting next to each other at the Kitchen Island. She slide the patio door opened and closed it behind her before made her way towards them, kissing both their cheeks. "Good morning, parents."
"Good morning, Princess [Heero]/ Baby [Relena]" Her parents replied.
Then Rhea realized something from the table and then what everyone else have before looking down at her Mother's plate. "Mom, how much pancakes have you eaten?" She eyed the five stacks of pancakes on the platter.
"Hmm? I'm sharing with Dad." Relena said with a laugh. "I'm not going to eat all of this myself."
Rhea smiled, she looked at her Dad. "Dad, Owen and Don haven't eaten yet you know." She walked away and sat next to Lana.
"They're young adults. They can feed themselves." Heero replied with as a smirk. "Girls, once you're done, don't worry about dishes, I'll handle it. Go back to the treehouse and make sure you all have everything. We leave in an hour."
"Ok." The girls replied undoubtedly very unhappy.
Relena smiled as she took another bite of her pancake while Heero watched their daughter associate with their friends. "They'll remember this day." He said before looking at his wife. "This will be a good memory."
Relena, excited, she reached for her phone and turned on the camera. "And it will always be." She aimed it at the girls. "Girls, smile."

Three hours after they secured the safety of the girls to their respected transport; Heero, Relena, Duo and Hilde said their goodbyes to their children, Donovan and Owen. They are making their way to Sanq for Relena's World Wide and Space live conference on Monday. Wufei have provided them with a jet plane and will be waiting for them at the airport.
They have one hour before leaving for Los Angeles before getting into a private plane that Wufei also provided but they needed a diversion from the rest of the party and came up with this plan. Owen took the younger Maxwell children for drinks and snacks while Donovan stayed with the three girls who are currently viewing the latest fashion show on YouTube on the iPad that Heero and Relena have given each girl for entertainment, including Susan before they embark on the plane. But at the moment, they huddled together with Gwen in the middle with her IPad.
"That's beautiful. I love that lace and embroidery." Gwen said, admiring whatever dress they're looking at. "And it's peach, I love it."
"I want something more traditional, that's just me, but I do love that embroidery." Susan said, she rested her head on Gwen's shoulder. "Oh look at that one coming up."
"That's very nice. What do you think Rhea?" Gwen asked.
"Ball gown are too poufy for me." Rhea said. "But I like the pink flower embroideries. That must have taken them some time."
"Very pretty!" Susan said excitedly. "Oh my gosh, look at that one."
Finally, Donovan was curious enough after ten whole minutes. "What are you girls watching?"
"Wedding dresses." Susan said with a smile. "We're taking notes."
"For future usage when we go get married." Gwen added. "Which we probably have to fight for since our Dad being who he is."
Rhea had to laugh but didn't comment, she continued to look at the small monitor with a smile on her face and hint of pink on her cheek which wasn't lost to Donovan. "Are they that pretty, Rhea?"
With that, she finally looked at him and her face turned completely red but smiled and replied to his question. "They are, every designer in the world made them and a lot of them are beautiful which would only a major movie star or a royal family would wear."
Both Susan and Gwen blinked at each other before they turned their head to look at Rhea. "And who are you again?"
"Shut up." Rhea giggled, she looks back into the screen. "I want something more practical and not extravagant."
"You and I do think a lot alike." Gwen said, she settled into her seat once more. "I feel the same."
Susan stood up when she spotted Owen with her siblings. "I see popcorn and drinks, be right back." Then she headed over to the group.
Gwen handed Rhea her IPad and stood up as well. "I'll go asked Owen to take me to the store, want anything Rhea?"
"Sweet tea, kit kat and a bbq potato chip." Rhea said with a smile, "Thanks."
"Sure. What about you Don?" Gwen turned to look at Don.
"Thanks but no thank you, little Queen." Don smiled.
"Alright then, I'll be back." Then Gwen walked away, she said a few words to Owen and they headed out along with the Maxwell children.
For a few minutes, Donovan just watched before getting up and took a seat beside her. "Mind if I check out the show with you?"
"Sure." Rhea said, she smiled at him before moving the IPad a little closer to him. "Gwen, Lana, Janice and Elizabeth are into this sort of stuff. I, not so much but I do like them. That one right there, that's something Maya likes. Short frilly dresses and the big flowers bouquets, that's her style."
"But you like simplicity." Donovan commented of what she said earlier. "You like the plain and traditional type."
"Well, not too traditional. I like a little color and stuff like this but not like – that…" Rhea pointed out a white dress with a short skirt, a big bow in the back with a long tail. "That's too much for me."
"That's pretty but it is too much." Donovan said but he wasn't really paying any attention to the rest of the dresses, more like enjoying being with the girl next to him. "When we reach Los Angeles, we will be taking the private jet and once we reached Korea, we have a bus waiting and take us to the secured house. The rest of your cousins will be there."
"Yeah, that's what Dad told us." Rhea said, she sighed. "Mom and Dad are fighting again."
"They're fighting for you girls." Donovan looked at her. "You must know that they are fighting for you and your sister."
"We do." Rhea looked up to him, tears forming in her eyes. "Which is very dangerous! Considering who they are up against."
Donovan took her hand closer to him and gave it a squeezed. "Rhea, believe me when I tell you this. No one stood up against your parents and won, no one. Together, they are strong and with the rest of the ex-gundam pilots at their side, they can do anything. Trust me, I know, I've seen them in action in person."
"And you guys are putting your lives in danger for us." Rhea said, she look down on the floor.
Donovan laughed a little. He touched the end of her lose hair and tucked it behind her ear with his free hand. "Owen and I know what needs to be done. You, your sister and the rest of the kids are our top priority. We won't let anything happened to any of you." For a good split second, he thought of it and did not even bother stopping himself. "I won't let anything happened you."
Rhea's eyes widen before looking up into Donovan's eyes. She saw him smiling, he picked up her hand which he was holding and brought it up to his lips. "I promise you, I will."
She believed him…
