Chapter 37

A special thanks to klu and SilverHerron for their reviews. Yall are great!

Addy followed Chuck's pacing as he walked back and forth, holding papers in his hand.

"So... You wrote another chapter?" Sam prompted.

"This was all so much easier before you were real," he mumbled, still pacing.

"We can take it," Dean said," Just spit it out."

He kept pacing and Addy stepped in front of him, blocking his path," What is it, Chuck?"

"You especially are not gonna like this," he said to her.

"I can handle it," she insisted," Now out with it."

"It's Lilith," he said and her heart skipped a beat," She's coming for Sam."

"Coming to kill him?" Dean asked.

"When?" Sam asked at the same time.

"Tonight," Chuck said and Addy stared at him, her head spinning.

"She's just gonna show up? Here?" Dean asked in disbelief.

Chuck sat down, put on his glasses, and read the manuscript out loud," Lilith patted the bed seductively. Unable to deny his desire, Sam succumbed, and they sank into the throes of fiery demonic passion."

Sam laughed in disbelief," You're kidding me, right?"

"You think this is funny?" Dean asked, getting alarmed.

"You don't? I mean, come on. Fiery demonic passion?" Sam said mockingly.

"Wait, wait, wait, wait. Lilith is a little girl," Dean said.

"No, uh, this time she's a comely dental hygienist from Bloomington, Indiana," he read from the paper.

"Great. Perfect. So what happens after the fiery demonic whatever?" Dean asked frantically.

"I don't know, it hasn't come to me yet," he said, shuttering.

"Dean, look, there's nothing to worry about. Lilith and me? In bed?" he said, then looked to Addy who hadn't said a word," Addy come on you know me."

"I also know what Lilith is capable of better than anyone else," she said, her eyes holding fear.

"You think she's capable of seducing me," he said loudly.

"I think that underestimating her is not an option," she said carefully without looking at him.

SUPERNATURAL

Dean sped down the road out of town. Addy sat in the backseat, twirling the ring in her hand. Sam was reading the latest chapter of Chuck's book.

"Dean, come on," Sam said and began reading a loud," The minivan accident wasn't that bad, but Dean was still seeing stars. He scratched absently at the pink flower Band-Aids on his face."

"So?" Dean asked, dismissing him.

"So, I've seen you gushing blood. You'd use duct tape and bar rags before you'd put on a pink flower Band-Aid," Sam said, exasperated," and listen to this. Dean slid behind the wheel of his beloved Impala and drove off, the plastic tarp on the rear window flapping like the wings of a crow."

"A tarp?" Dean repeated.

"Yeah. On the rear window. And you drive it like that," he emphasized.

"Well, he might be wrong about the details, but doesn't mean he's wrong about the end result," Dean argued," We are a long way from ready for a face-to-face death match with Lilith."

"Yeah try never," Addy said from the backseat, finally joining the conversation," If either of you took on Lilith you'd die."

"And you could?" Dean asked, looking at her in the rearview mirror.

She didn't answer as they came to a road block. A deputy walked up to Dean's window and he rolled it down.

"What seems to be the problem?" Dean asked.

"Bridge is out ahead," the officer answered.

"Is there any other way out of town?" Addy asked from the backseat.

"Afraid not miss," he replied," Looks like you're gonna have to spend the night in town."

"Son of a bitch," Addy said underneath her breath.

SUPERNATURAL

The three of them entered a local diner and found a table. She was mentally exhausted and in beyond a bad mood as she read over the latest chapter herself.

"Hey, this could be a good thing. I mean, if this is what puts us on the path to Lilith, then all we got to do is get off the path," Dean said, sounding hopeful.

"How do you mean?" Sam asked.

"It's a blueprint of what not to do. I mean, if the pages say that we go left –"

"Then we go right," Sam finished," Good plan."

"Stupid plan," Addy said, putting down the papers," If Lilith wants you, she will get you without a doubt."

"Don't be a Debby Downer," Dean said.

"I'm being realistic, Dean. I had close and personal time with Lilith remember," she said, tapping her head," and I know what she can do. She can break both of you like twigs and not to mention her favorite past times is making my life hell. Don't think for a second she won't use you two to do it."

"You really think we don't stand a chance against her," Sam said sadly.

"I really think the smartest thing to do here is a healthy fear of her," she said," I didn't and look where it got me."

"Why does she hate you so much?" Dean asked.

She shrugged," I don't know."

"You want to tell us about why your blood raising Lucifer scared you so much?" Sam asked gently.

"Nope," she said simply," Now if we're gonna get off the path to Lilith we guys have to do everything opposite from this chapter."

"Shouldn't be too hard," Dean said.

"Okay fine," she said, flipping through the pages," You two get into a fight so no fighting. No research for Sasquatch and no bacon cheeseburger for Dean."

'What about you?" Dean asked.

She skimmed through," It says I get angry, lose control, and break a few mirrors."

"So you don't get angry," Dean said and she shot him a look.

"Easier said than done," she said sarcastically.

"We can do this," Sam said, lightly touching her hand and she gave him a smile as their fingers intertwined.

She glanced at Dean who quickly looked away, calling the waitress over.

"Hi, uh, what's good?" Dean asked, looking over the menu.

"Well, if you like burgers, Oprah's girlfriend said we have the best bacon cheeseburgers in the country," she answered with a friendly smile.

"Oh the irony," Addy said with a small laugh.

"I'll just have the cobb salad, please," Sam said.

"Same here," Addy said.

"I'll have the…" Dean began, scanning the menu," Veggie tofu burger. Thanks."

"This whole thing's ridiculous," Sam said.

"Lilith is ridiculous?" Dean asked.

"Me and Lilith in bed," Sam clarified.

"Right. 'Cause something like that can never happen," Dean said carefully, but Addy was too caught up in her own thoughts to notice his hint.

Sam began to say something, but restrained himself," Dean, for the first time, we have warning that Lilith is close."

"Have you forgotten just how close Lilith used to be?" she asked, raising her eyebrows," Because I still have the scars on me to prove it Sam. And I know you two remember everything too."

"We got the jump on her. If we know when she's coming, we know this is an opportunity," Sam insisted.

"You want to get a jump on Lilith?" Addy asked too loudly and then lowered her voice," Are you crazy?"

"No, I'm not," he said," Addy she has to pay."

"I thought that too Sam and guess what?" she said, losing her calm," We were the only ones who paid."

"You're getting angry," Dean said.

"I don't care," she growled and the sound of a distant shatter sounded in the restaurant," Maybe that wasn't me."

"Looks like all our mirrors in the bathroom just shattered for no reason," their waitress said and Addy knocked her head onto the table.

"You okay sweetheart?" she asked, setting down their plates.

"Just fine," she said without looking up and as the waitress left she got back up," We are so screwed."

"Oh, my god. This is delicious. Tofu is amazing!" Dean said, taking a bite of his burger and Addy frowned, inspecting it.

"Dean I don't think that's-"

"I am so sorry. I gave you the bacon cheeseburger by mistake," the waitress said, taking the hamburger away from a devastated Dean.

SUPERNATURAL

Addy watched as Dean put hex bags around the pay by the hour motel room.

"It smells like STD in here," Addy said, putting down her bag.

"Book says Lilith finds you at the Red Motel," Dean said to Sam," So we stay here. Couple of hex bags ought to Lilith-proof the room."

"So, what? I'm supposed to just hole up here all night?" Sam asked, looking around in disgust.

"That's exactly what you're gonna do, okay? And no research. I don't care what you do – use the Magic Fingers or watch Casa Erotica on Pay-Per-View," he said and reached into Sam's bag, taking his laptop.

"Oh, dude, come on," Sam whined and Addy took it from Dean.

"No research," she said sternly," As much as I hate this it's what we have to do."

"So what does the book say you do?" Sam asked.

"Well, the pages say that I spend all day riding around in the Impala. So I'm gonna go park her. Behave yourself, would you?"he ordered and rolled his eyes turning to Addy," Now about you."

"What about me?" she asked, narrowing her eyes.

Dean smirked and she dreaded his answer," It already says you stay holed up with Sam avoiding Chuck so I'm taking you to spend time with the guy."

"You know I think I'll just go swim the river out of here," she said sarcastically.

"No way princess," he said.

She sighed and groaned, turning to Sam," Can't we just swim that river?"

He chuckled and gave her a light kiss," I'll see you later."

She went out the door with Dean.

SUPERNATURAL

"Can't you just drop me off somewhere?" she whined in the passenger seat.

"Not taking any chances," he said, coming to a stop in front of Chuck's house," Book says you hate Chuck, make him you're best friend."

She groaned," He is the last person I want to spend time with."

"Why?" he asked and pulled out the manuscript of the book, waving it in front of her," Because he knows a little too much about you."

She snatched it from him," It's a damn good reason to dislike someone."

"You can you use this," he said," Get information about you out of him."

"I don't need information from him, Dean," she said, rolling her eyes.

He sighed," What does your blood breaks him free mean?"

"What does this have to do with-"

"We told you what you said and you shut down," he said, his voice hard," I know you know what it means."

She opened the car door and walked out. He followed after her as she went to the front door of the house.

"So you're just gonna ignore me?" he called after her.

"No," she said over her shoulder," I'm spending time with my new best friend."

She banged on the door repeatedly until Chuck opened it.

"Addy," he said, his eyes widening in fear," Uh, what-what are you doing here?"

"We're doing exactly the opposite of what the book says and it says I stay away from you so I'm doing the opposite," she pushed him back into the house and closed the door behind them. She waited until Dean drove off to turn to Chuck.

She grabbed him by the collar and slammed him into the nearest wall," I read the chapter at the exact moment I figured out how I was supposed to raise Lucifer and it wasn't there. Do you know and you didn't put it in there?"

"I-I-uh-Yes, I know," he stuttered out," I thought it'd make it more suspenseful or something."

She let him go and slowly backed away from him," Why didn't you say anything to them?"

"Well, both of them are kind of in love with you," he said and took a swig of the beer he'd been holding," How would I tell them that-"

"Don't say it," she said, stopping him and sat down on the couch, her head in her hands.

"You know just because I wrote that that's what you think is supposed to happen doesn't necessarily mean it's going to happen. I mean I haven't actually written it yet so anything could happen besides the thing that you told me I can't say," he rambled.

"What else do you know?" she asked, looking up at him.

"You're gonna have to give me more that," he said, starting to take another drink but she stared at him and suddenly it flew out of his hand, the glass shattering on the wall," It's hard to forget how scary you can be."

"Good," she said, standing back up, face to face with him," Now tell me why it's me. Why? Why am I the one that has to raise Lucifer?"

"I-uh-I might have the answer to that," he said quietly.

"What is it?" she asked quickly.

"I never wrote this down but sometimes I have these flashes of you," he began," but it's not really you. I mean it's your face but it's not the right time period and you do all this really bad stuff and-"

"What the hell are you taking about Chuck?" she asked.

"And you have white eyes," he finished.

She shook her head slowly," I don't understand."

"I think- I could be wrong, but I think-"

"Out with it Chuck!" she yelled and he flinched.

"Lilith's true face, the one she was born with, is the same as yours," he said and the room began spinning.

She couldn't breathe as everything became blurry. She could hear Chuck calling her name and she fell to the ground in a heap.

"Are-are you okay?" he stuttered, kneeling next to her.

Suddenly, her vision became clear and she got back up," I need to go."

"Wait, I thought-"

"I need your car," she ordered. His shaky hand reached into his pocket and pulled out his keys. He handed them to her and she grabbed them, making towards the door.

"If Dean or Sam calls I'm in the bathroom," she called out behind her as she opened the door, "And if you tell them I left I'll come back here and make you hurt."

"Where- where are you going?" he asked.

She stopped and turned back to him," To get answers."

SUPERNATURAL

Addy dug furiously with her bare hands in the middle of the forest. The car headlights of Chuck's vehicle shined on her. She yanked off her necklace and threw it into the hole, both the rings on them. Then she pulled her knife from her belt and slit her hand. She squeezed it over the rings and began reciting words in Latin in as harsh whisper.

She took deep breaths as she waited, kneeling over the whole," Please don't let me be right. "

Thunder cracked and she jumped, looking up at the sky. There wasn't a cloud in sight or any rain.

"Oh God no," she whispered to herself.

"God has nothing to do with this."

She got up and turned slowly to see a blonde woman, blocking the lights of the car. She blinked and her eyes flashed white.

"No," she said, backing away," This can't be right."

"But it is Adriana," she said, advancing towards her," You know it is."

"But how?" she asked, her back hitting a tree," Why?"

Lilith stood in front of her, smiling as she looked her up and down," I could possess you right here and now."

Addy held up her hand where she'd drawn a devil's trap on her wrist with sharpie.

"But you won't," she said with a smirk.

Lilith grabbed her arm and Addy froze, but instead she let it go and put a hand to the side of Addy's face.

"I never hated you Adriana," she whispered," I just wanted you to understand the connection we share."

"There is no connection," she growled, shoving her hand away.

"We share a face Adriana," she said quietly, sitting down on the ground and Addy frowned at her in confusion," Sit if you want answers."

Slowly, she did as she was told and sat in front of her, leaning against the tree," We're doppelgangers."

She smiled, "Not a bad face to share."

Addy did not return the kind gesture. Lilith sighed," I understand. You want answers and after what I've done you don't care for me very much."

"Care for you," she repeated," You killed Dean, tried to destroy me-"

"Okay I get it," she said," Now do you want answers or not?"

She nodded and closed her mouth.

"Tell me the story of our origins," she ordered nicely," As witches."

"There were twin sisters," Addy began," Their mother prayed to God that they'd have power to help others and God granted that wish. As the sisters grew older, one of the sisters became unhappy and wanted more so she made a deal with the Devil. That's where Dark and Light come from. Witches born with their power descend from both of them."

"The sister's names were Eden…and Lilith," she whispered and Addy looked up at her with wide eyes," Shocking isn't it? But the last parts wrong. Eden had way too many kids if you ask me, all girls, but I only had one. Only one line of witches comes from me."

"My line," she whispered," You're the original Detrov?"

Lilith smiled," I am."

"You made a deal with the devil," she said quietly," You gave your soul and your bloodline. You cursed all of us."

Lilith chuckled," Just you if you think about it and you want to know why I did it?"

"Because you wanted more power," Addy said in disgust.

Lilith shook her head," I wanted what everyone secretly wants. I wanted love, but I guess from everyone else's perspective I loved the wrong man."

"Who did you love that you were willing to curse all of us?"

"Lucifer himself," she said and Addy stood up, scrambling away from her.

"Adriana please," Lilith said.

"No," Addy yelled," You can't just come here pretending to be nice and then expect me to hear you out just because we're related. No way in hell. You're lying."

Lilith went over to the whole in the ground and picked up the blood covered rings," The spell you did. You knew when you did it. You knew that you needed an object that belonged to you, an object that belonged to the person you're trying to summon, and your blood. This spell only works for those with blood ties Adriana. You know I'm not lying. You're my doppelganger and my latest descendant. You're the one who's going to break the cycle."

Addy ran to Chuck's car, but Lilith appeared in front of her. She grabbed Addy's hand and put the rings in them. Addy clutched the necklace tight and yanked her hand away.

"Go to hell," she growled.

Lilith smirked," I have to go see Sammy now, but I'll see you around Adriana. Sorry about this but I can't have you getting in my way."

With that, she put two fingers to her head and she fell to the ground.

"Sweet dreams my daughter."

SUPERNATURAL

"Come on. We're getting out of here," Dean said, bursting through the motel door.

"What?" Sam asked in confusion," Where?"

Dean looked around the room, "Where's Addy?"

"She's not here," he replied, frowning," You dropped her off at Chuck's."

"She's not there either," Dean said, running a hand over his face," He said she left, saying she was going to get answers."

"About what?" Sam asked frantically," Where the hell did she go?"

"Chuck may have left out that he sees Lilith with Addy's face like a thousand years ago and he told her," Dean said, kicking the wall," Damn it where is she?"

"Have you called her?" Sam asked.

"A thousand times and it keeps going to voicemail," he said.

"Wait, you said Chuck sees Lilith with Addy's face," Sam said.

"We'll deal with that later," Dean said and looked around the room," Where are all the hex bags?"

"I burned them," Sam said quickly," And before you freak out if Lilith is coming, which is a big "if"-"

"No, no, no. It's more than an "if." Chuck is not a psychic. He's a prophet. Cas showed up, and apparently Chuck is writing the gospel of us. Now let's get the hell out of here."

"No," Sam said finally.

"No," Dean repeated," Lilith is coming to slaughter you, Chuck is an all powerful prophet, and Addy is missing."

"I know," Sam yelled," I know all of that. Addy'll be fine. She always is. We need to get Lilith. I'm doing this for Addy."

"What if Lilith has Addy right now, huh?" Dean yelled," Did you think of that? Do you even think about her anymore? Do you even care? Because I think you don't."

"And you do?" Sam asked coldly," You know what, don't answer that. Out of all the girls you had to go for her."

"I'm not going after her, Sam," he yelled.

He scoffed," I saw you with her after Pamela died."

"What did you want me to do, Sam?" he asked, matching his attitude," Let her break down."

"Don't give me that crap. She's-"

"She's not fine, Sam," Dean said, his voice hard," She just never lets you see it because she thinks you have enough to handle. She only keeps it together for you and you cheated on her with a demon. You wanna know the only reason I haven't told her? Because she couldn't handle it. She has so much built up inside and this will be the tipping point."

"She never told me that," Sam said quietly.

"Because you're never there," Dean replied," Maybe it's because you don't care or maybe it's because you're too ashamed to look her in the eye. You really are going…"

"You think I'll do it, don't you? You think I'll go dark side," Sam said.

"Yes! Okay? Yes. The way you've been acting lately? The things you've been doing? Oh, I know. How you ripped Alastair apart like it was nothing, like you were swatting a fly. Cas told me, okay?"

"It's not what you think."

"Then what is it, Sam? 'Cause I'm at a total loss," Dean said and sighed," We're leaving and going to look for her. Are you coming?"

"I can't," he said and Dean stormed out, fuming. He went to the soda machine and kicked it angrily, calling Addy again.

"This is Addy Turner's other number so you know what to do," it said, going to voicemail.

"Addy please just call me," he said and sighed," I know you're looking for answers. We both are, but you don't have to do it alone. You're not alone. Chuck told me about Lilith having your face and I don't know what it means but I'm guessing you might. Whatever it means and whatever your blood breaking Lucifer free means, we can fight it together.

He paused, and leaned his head against the wall," I know you're afraid and I'm afraid for you so please come back to the motel. I'll get you out of here. We'll go far away, wherever you want. This doesn't have to be our problem anymore. Screw the angels and screw Lucifer and Lilith. You and me. We'll just get in the Impala and drive and drive until we find somewhere we want to be. I want to take you away, Addy. Just come back to me so I can. Please. I can't…just come back to me."

He ended the call and realized what a mistake he'd made. He slid down the wall as he cursed.

"Well, I feel stupid doing this. But... I am fresh out of options. So please. I need some help. I'm praying, okay? Come on. Please," he said, looking up at the night sky.

"Prayer is a sign of faith. This is a good thing, Dean," Castiel said, appearing in front of him and holding a hand out.

"So does that mean you'll help me?" Dean asked," Drag Sam out of here and find Addy."

"It's a prophecy. I can't interfere," he said," And Adriana is cloaked somehow. She must be doing a spell of some sort."

"Or Lilith has her," Dean said, gripping his head," Okay you have tested me and thrown me every which way. And I have never asked for anything. Not a damn thing. But now I'm asking. I need your help. Please."

"It's not within my power."

"Screw you. You and your mission. Your God. If you don't help me now, then when the time comes and you need me... don't bother knocking," he said, beginning to walk away.

"Dean," he called after him," You must understand why I can't intercede. Prophets are very special. They're protected. If anything threatens a prophet, anything at all, an archangel will appear to destroy that threat. Archangels are fierce. They're absolute. They're heaven's most terrifying weapon. If a demon were in the same room as a prophet then the most fearsome wrath of heaven would rain down on that demon. Just so you understand... why I can't help."

Dean smiled," Thanks, Cas."

"Good luck," Cas said," I will look for Adriana."

He disappeared in a flutter of wings as usual.

SUPERNATURAL

Sam heard a knock at the door and went over to it slowly. He yanked it open and no one was there. He closed it and a gust of wind went through the room. Sam turned to see a blond woman with white eyes.

"Hello, Sam," she said.

"I've been waiting for you," Sam replied.

"Where's the knife?" she asked.

"On the nightstand. By the bed."

Lilith began walking towards it and then stopped and lifted up the rug. She scoffed and burned away the devil's trap underneath it.

"You're gonna have to try a lot harder than that," she said, turning back to him with a smirk.

"How 'bout this?" he said, reaching out his hand and focusing. All it did was blow her hair back. He dropped his hand in shock.

"You're strong. But you're not that strong. Not yet," she said.

"So why don't you throw me around then?" Sam asked, narrowing his eyes as she began surveying the room.

"Because I can't, and you know it. You're immune to my charms. Seems we're at a stalemate," she said with a sigh.

"Why are you here?"

"To talk," she answered simply.

He scoffed," Yeah, well, I'm not interested."

"Hmm... even if I'm offering to stand down?" she asked ,smiling when she saw she'd captured his attention," From the seals... the apocalypse... all of it? Even Adriana."

"You expect me to believe that?" he asked, narrowing his gaze.

"Honestly?" she said, weighing her head," No. You were always the smart one. But it's the truth. You can end it, Sam. Right here, right now. I'll stop breaking seals, Lucifer keeps rotting in his cage. Adriana never has to worry about me again. All you have to do is agree to my terms."

"Why would you back down?" he asked skeptically," Why now?"

"Turns out, I don't survive this war," she explained," Killed off, right before the good part starts."

"What do you want?

"For it to go back to the way it was," she answered," Before I had angels to deal with twenty four-seven. The good old days, when it was all baby blood all the time."

"And what do you want in return?"he asked in disgust.

"Your head on a stick. Dean's, too. Addy stays out of it," she said with a smirk," Call it a consolation prize. So what do you say, Sam? Self-sacrifice is the Winchester way, isn't it?"

"You really think I'm stupid enough to fall for this?" Sam asked.

"I make a deal, I have to follow through. Those are the rules, and you know it. Are you really so arrogant that you would put your life before the lives of six billion innocent people? Maybe it's all that demon blood pumping through your pipes. Man after my own heart," she said with a slowly growing smile," You know I see what Addy sees in you. You're just like Peter."

He ignored her last comment," You think I'm like you? I am nothing like you."

"Then prove it. Going once," she said, turning and walking towards the bed," Going twice."

"Fine," Sam said quickly.

She turned back with a self-satisfied smile," Swell. By the way, a contract with me will take more than a kiss"

She sat on the bed and pat the space beside her slowly," A lot more. Don't worry. The dental hygienist in here? She wants it bad."

He hesitated for a moment," And Addy has nothing to with this. You don't have her?"

She shook her head," No. She'll be just fine. I'll even give you some time to say goodbye after this."

He slowly walked towards her and she ran her hand up his leg and her eyes turned white as she pulled him down on top of her.

Suddenly, he grabs the knife and charges it at her. She's quicker and stronger than he is and before he can make another move she throws him off her.

"Shame Sammy," she said, advancing towards him," Guess I'll just have to take it out on Adriana."

Suddenly, the door burst open with Chuck and Dean.

"I am the prophet Chuck!" he yelled.

"You've got to be joking," she said, rolling her eyes and advancing towards them instead.

"Oh, this is no joke," Dean said as the room began to quake and white light poured in through the windows," You see, Chuck here's got an archangel on his shoulder. You've got about 10 seconds before this room is full of wrath and you're a piece of charcoal. You sure you want to tangle with that?"

Lilith shoots Sam one last hate filled look," I will have Adriana. Make no mistake Sam. She will bleed."

Her head rose violently and black smoke poured through her mouth as her vessel crumpled to the ground.

SUPERNATURAL

Addy groaned as she woke up. Her head hurt and rolled from her side onto her back. Her head was right near the front wheel of Chuck's car and she groaned as she sat up. She took her necklace from her clenched hand and put it back around her neck. Reaching into her pocket , she pulled out her cell phone. She frowned at the thirty missed calls from Dean and only one voicemail.

She played it and put it on speaker. Her eyes became watery and tears flowed down her cheeks as she listened. His voice broke on the last words of him pleading with her to come back. It ended and she openly cried, crumbling into herself.

"Adriana."

She looked up to see Cas standing above her.

"You knew. All of you knew about my connection with Lilith," she said through her sobs.

He kneeled to her level," Yes, we did and I am so sorry."

"My blood breaks Lucifer free," she recited.

"You know what that means?" he asked gently.

She nodded slowly," It means I have to die."

He stood up and reached out a hand to her.

She took it as she wiped away her tears.

"We have orders from heaven to keep you safe," he said, still gripping her hand ad she frowned, trying to pull away but he held tight.

"What do you mean?" she asked as he let her hand go and she relaxed a bit.

"I mean you have to come with me," he said and she shook her head," Your death is the key to the apocalypse. If we can keep you alive than all else does not matter."

"What about Sam and Dean?" she asked frantically," I can't just leave them alone."

"I will inform them," he said and he grabbed her roughly by the arm. She closed her eyes and when she reopened them they were in a dark, factory warehouse. She looked around as she yanked her arm from Castiel's grip.

"Take me back!" she ordered.

"No," he said simply.

"Don't say I didn't warn you," she said and threw out her hand. Nothing happened and she looked to him in confusion.

"Your powers will not work against me here."

"Cas, look," she said gently," You can't take me away from them. They need me."

"But we need you alive more," a voice behind her said.

She turned to see Zachariah, standing with a triumphant smile.

"Castiel give us some alone time," he ordered and he disappeared.

"You said it yourself," she argued," I'm the key to keeping Dean in check. If I'm here, how the hell am I supposed to do it?"

He smirked and began circling her," You are the key Adriana. Too much more than Dean. You're also the key to Sam and much more importantly the apocalypse. Now that we have you. We hold all the cards."

"I'm asking you nicely," she said through gritted teeth," Take me back to them."

He chuckled," Adriana, we need you alive…for now. And let's face it. The Winchester's are no place for you to be kept safe."

"I said let me…"she paused, staring at him as realization crossed her features," What do you mean you only need me alive for now? If I die like the prophecy says the Apocalypse starts and you don't want that."

"So many questions, so little time," he said, walking towards her.

She turned to run but he appeared in front of her.

"I'm not going to hurt you," he said, rolling his eyes and held up her cell phone," You're going to call your boyfriends and tell them you're with Castiel for your protection."

"Like hell I will," she replied.

"Let me try that again," he said and his eyes narrowed," Call them or we kill Sam. Dean we need, but Sam is expendable and last time I checked he was the so called love of your life so unless you want to see his dismembered body in a puddle at your feet, I suggest you call."

"You're bluffing," she whispered.

"Are you really willing to take that risk?" he asked calmly, holding out the phone to her," Going once…going twice…"

"Okay!" she yelled, snatching her phone from him.

"And sold to the girl who's supposed to end the world," he said with a laugh," Now dial the number. If you say anything other than what I tell you than Sam dies."

She dialed Sam's number and slowly pressed the phone to her ear. It rang once before he picked up.

"Addy," he said in relief on the line," Thank God. Where are you? Cas told us you're with him."

"I can't tell you that," Zachariah said and she repeated it.

"What the hell is she…" she heard Dean say in the background," Put her on speaker."

"Addy where the hell are you?" Dean asked," Tell us so we can come and get you."

She looked to Zachariah who gave her a slight nod, signaling her what to say.

"I can't tell you, but I'm with Castiel for my protection," she said.

"What the hell are you-" Dean began, but Sam cut him off.

"Addy just tell us where you are?" Sam asked gently.

"I can't," she replied," I'm the key to the apocalypse. The angels need to keep me safe. I'm fine."

"Addy please," Sam begged," What happened? What did you learn?"

"Tell them you have to go now," Zachariah ordered.

"I have to go now," she said quietly and then looked away from Zachariah's threatening gaze as she said, "Both of you be safe."

She ended the call before she could hear their responses. Zachariah took the phone from her and crushed it in his hand.

"You're lucky that's not my only phone," she mumbled, looking down at the remains from it.

He smiled," Now let's talk accommodations."

"I'm supposed to stay in this fucking warehouse or you kill Sam," she said angrily," Yeah, I got it."

"You and I both know you will try and escape," he said and grabbed her roughly by the arm," Castiel, I require your assistance."

The angel reappeared, a sorrowful look on his face," I am sorry, Adriana."

Zachariah dragged her to a nearby door and he opened it. It was completely cleared out except for a cot, toilet, sink, and single light bulb that illuminated the room. He threw her in and she fell with a thud to the ground.

He closed the door as she ran at it and it slammed in her face. She beat her fist against the cold metal," Let me out of here!"

"Sorry Adriana," Zachariah said with no remorse," Can't have you escaping."

She gave one last kick to the door before calming herself and pressing her ear to the door.

"Do not let her out for anything," she heard Zachariah order," Do not let her get to you. She is not your friend. She is our enemy's ultimate weapon. If they have her, we lose."

"Yes, sir," Castiel said and she heard the flutter of Zachariah's departure.

"So that's it, Cas," she yelled, knowing he could hear her," You just take orders from them now even though you know they're wrong. You know what this'll do to Sam and Dean. They need me."

There was a moment of silence before he spoke, "As I recall you left them once too."

"And then you brought me back to watch my best friend die because of orders from your boss," she countered," Does that sound right to you?"

There was no answer and she kept talking," That's because it's not. You know what Zachariah said to me. He said they needed me alive for now. You know what happens if I die Cas. All of you know. So why would he say that? Why would he put me in this tiny room? Why would he make me watch Pamela die?"

Still no answer.

"Because they want me to break!" she yelled, hoping she was getting to him," What kind of angels wants someone to break? The kind that have an alternate agenda and by following them blindly it makes you just like them."

It was still silent and she wasn't sure if he was still there. She slid down the door and leaned her head against it.

"Sam told me that his mother used to say angels were watching over them," she said quietly, but loud enough that she knew he could hear her," Than a demon went and fed him his blood and killed her. I don't understand that. She had such belief that you angels would protect her son and you didn't."

"You know what my mother used to say to me because I always knew monsters were real and I thought that because I was little girl who was supposed to destroy everyone I belonged to demons? She said 'Kitty don't you ever think something like that. Angels protect the good and they'll protect you.' Where were you when good people like Sam's mother was burning to death? Where were you when John Winchester was ripped apart in hell for a hundred years? Where were you when my mother was praying to you? Where were you when Dean died? When I died? When Pamela died? When Sam died and Dean had to bring him back? Where were you when so many good people have died fighting for your cause? You angels are no warriors. You just stand back and let others shed blood."

It was silent for a long time and she could hear nothing but her own breathing.

"Perhaps you're right," she heard him say," but you are not the only one who has to have faith."

"No, I'm not," she replied slowly," But I'm the only one who deep down believes what she's fighting for."

There was no answer and she knew she wasn't going to get one as they slipped into stone silence once again.
