Chapter 37 – Theme song

We drove up to the start line behind 8 other drivers, Melissa next to me, Garth and Desmond behind me, and we saw the lights above us turn red, then next two lights turned red so I turned the radio on and the song Razorblade by Amaranthe came on as the Green light came on and I floored the Accelerator and all of us set off overtaking 2 people on the start line before we turned around a corner overtaking another person as we continued down the road battling for position's down the straight road.

As I was turning on the corner on the inside I was blocked by Honda Accord with ROJA written on the back of it, but I was having none of that and I shifted into fifth gear and floored the accelerator and overtook him, but as I was next to him he tried to ram into side of me, so I broke sharply and let him pass in front of me harmlessly as I accelerated and overtook as he was scratching his paint on the wall, I was now in 4th place and behind me was the rest of my team as we went around a a left corner then a U-Turn catching up to the leading team, being right on their tails as passed the line into second lap and into another right corner and Melissa went in front of me.

"Let's Drag Chris." She said as I lined myself and we accelerated down the road passing another guy, Garth and Desmond doing the same, we kept in line as we went around the left bend and into the same U-Turn as we went into second last and at the same moment I got out of the draft and slingshot past the remaining 3 opponents alongside Garth and I saw Melissa catching up and eventually managed to pass everyone on the corner alongside Desmond who just didn't stop and went past everyone, as we entered the left bend and a U-Turn again and into the last lap, I was certain now that we would've won this, but then I saw someone trying to ram Melissa out of the road, this just made me angry.

"Hang on Melissa." I said as I pulled on the handbrake and did a 360 to get behind Melissa and Hyundai Coupe. "You're gonna pay for it!" I shouted as I pressed the Nitrous Booster and rammed into the back of the Hyundai Coupe causing him to spin out of the control and hit the wall at a rather high speed. I looked at the mirror and saw that he hit the barrier with his rear, I saw the wolf get out looking furious. "Shame you came out of this in one piece."

"Thanks Chris." Melissa said as we went through the corner.

"Anything love, nobody is gonna hurt until I'm alive." I said.

"I know, I love you Chris." She said in her sweet voice that I loved.

"I love you too Melissa."

"Not wanting to interrupt you, but can you focus on getting to the finish line in one piece." Desmond said over the radio.

"We know, just worry to get to the finish line, before you hit the wall or something." I said to him, as I went through the left bend

"Highly unlikely, I'm already on the finish line." He said as me and Melissa went through the U-Turn, and we crossed the line and stopped next to Desmond and Garth. I got out and walked to Melissa's car as she got out and kissed her as we embraced each other.

"I'm glad you're ok." I said to her as we broke the kiss.

"Thanks to you love, come on lets join the others." She said as we went over to others, we saw Garth and Lilly hugging each other and the rest just talking.

"You really lit it up out there some people are taking a notice of you, by the way the sponsors saw everything and they were delighted so much they even got new cars for you lot, head over to the car lot to pick them up." Kate said while everyone just got excited.

"Let's go there now." Desmond said as he run to his car, I just stood there for a moment letting it all process in my head I smiled to myself as I looked at my team and saw that we were no street crew anymore no, we were a proper street racing team, we had fast cars, unity, sponsors, agent the only thing missing was a theme song.

"Hey guys come over here." I said as everyone come to me.

"What is it Chris." Humphrey asked.

"Well I was thinking how we are a proper street racing crew with sponsors agents. The only thing we're missing is a theme song, so anyone got any ideas."

"What about Takedown by Blue Stahli?" Desmond said.

"Or Shapeshifter by Celldweller?" Humphrey said.

"What about the song that you played in this race?" Melissa suggested

"You mean Razorblade by Amaranthe?"

"Yes that one I really like it, I think it suits us with lyrics like 'Going up to the top, never stop, never give it up' or ' adrenaline runs in my veins'." She said

"Yeah that's a really good song, I think it will be a great choice." Garth said.

"And it sounds good, I think it will suit you lot, not too." Lilly said, everyone just agreed.

"Ok that sorts it out, from now on Razorblade by Amaranthe is our theme song. By any chance any of you play any instrument?" I asked them.

"I play electric guitar." Desmond said.

"I play bass guitar." Humphrey said.

"I play drums" Garth said.

"I can do vocals." Melissa said

"I play guitar, so we could learn to play it and when we get a chance play it live, I think it would boost our popularity even more, maybe more cover, and we could always just play for fun when there's nothing to do."

"That's a really awesome idea, but let's go get them cars before sponsors change their minds." Desmond said and we all followed him to our cars and drove off to the car lot.
