Hey everyone. I had this ready a few days ago but was having some issues with my wonderful internet provider. Anyways it is up now and I'm not waiting in until tonight in case something happens. So here you go, as promised we had to check in on Lance.

Chapter 37: Electric Fence

Josef made his way down into the basement and over to the clear containment cube Lance had been moved into. Lance paced back and forth in the small space allowed, the collar visible from beneath his shirt. He stopped as Josef approached and watched as Josef made his way past the heavily armed men.

"Lance I see you are doing well in your new accommodations."

Lance growled, "You have made a grave mistake. You think you have power. Americans. You know nothing of true power. My family, you and your family will pay for your mistake."

Josef was vamped out and at the glass in a fraction of a second. "You will not threaten my family." Josef pulled a remote from his pocket, "This, incase you weren't paying attention last night, is one of the ways to trigger your little collar there. An explosion of pure liquid silver, genus really, the small explosion makes sure to cause a wound and the silver has direct access."

Josef stepped back as he hit one button and the collar began to beep quickly as Josef ran his finger over the button. "A bit more dangerous than the one my associate was wearing when your sister took him. I should press this button. The blast and the silver probably wouldn't kill you but it will cause serious damage."

Lance was letting out a low growl as he glared at Josef. It was always hard to read his expression but Josef could see the unmistakable trace of fear in his eyes, under the contempt of course. Pressing another button the beeping stopped and Lance unclasped his hands from behind his back. "What is it you plan to do now?"

"I should press the button. I should let you suffer, as you enjoy watching the suffering of others. Then I should sever your head from your body and throw the pieces of you in the tar pit where no one will see them again. You came into my town, into my home. You questioned my family; you played your games of power, fine. Then you attacked my mate in our home."

"You should teach your woman to mid her elders and hold her tongue."

Josef's lips twitched up into a smile, "I think she is rather perfect as she is. Standing up to you is icing to the cake." Josef began to walk the length of the cell as he spoke, "You see, my Jean, figured you out. She knew you weren't here for your sisters death. Sure you had an obligation to figure that out but as you so eloquently put it you knew what happened for some time. You simply wanted a reason to cause further pain to those around me while furthering your own agenda."

"Your mistake really was pressing Danielle. She had nothing to do with your sisters death and she is Jeans best friend. She didn't take kindly to you upsetting her and after a little creative thinking we were able to figure out your real game. You want the cure."

Lance started to laugh, even gripping his sides as if the thought was too much. "What use would I have for the cure? I have what Coraline stole away with, in the case of an emergency should we ever find the need to blend in with the human filth."

"That's what I've been trying to figure out. Why would someone like you care about the cure? I could care less really. I'm a vampire and I love it. I have no need for a cure and after my friend, your ex brother in law, came around I felt no need to try and continue the research on his behalf. I gave you everything on the cure. For whatever reason you seem to think I'd have any desire to keep working on it. What would make you stick out from your families goal and risk the family line further?"

He said nothing just stood still as stone. "Speak or don't speak I don't care. I just came down to make sure you were enjoying your new room and to reiterate the new rules. You collar is set to a specific area, you get close to that area it will begin to beep faster until it goes off. It will also detonate if you try to remove it or if I press this button here." Josef held up the remote for his viewing pleasure.

"So you stay in your cage where you belong and your collar won't explode. You will be fed though not in the luxury you are accustomed."

Looking down his nose Lance scuffed, "That week old bagged blood you like is hardly a meal."

Josef shrugged, "Drink it or starve I don't care. You are no longer a welcome guest and I have no desire to see to it that your desires are being adequately filled."

As Josef turned to walk away Lance slammed his fist on the clear wall, "How long do you think you can keep me locked up like…this?"

Josef didn't even bother to turn around as he kept walking. "Two bags of blood a day, every 12 hours. Stay vigilant, call me immediately if anything changes."

The team nodded as Josef made his way to the secure door and upstairs to the main floor. He felt a bit better after the meeting but Lance did have a point, he couldn't keep him locked up forever.

Seth tossed his phone down having just finished talking to his sister. Allie had broken the news to him as gently as possible and explained she didn't want or need any additional stress. After some time and some arguing he had finally come around. Not that he accepted her decision, but that he understood arguing with her was counter intuitive at this point and that he would have to try something else.

She had spoken with him and he had managed to stay calm and let her know he loved her and that he was not going to stop looking for a solution to this. Allie rested her hands on his shoulders and gave them a gentle squeeze, "I know you don't like this but you did the right thing."

"I won't lose my sister. I can't." She didn't say anything just leaned forward and wrapped her arms around his chest.

"No one else can be okay with this. You said these things…when they rupture its sudden right?" Allie nodded, "Okay so we have a vampire stay near her all the time, and then when…I mean if, it does happen then she can be turned."

"She doesn't want that," Allie reminded him. "No one will turn her knowing she doesn't want it."

"That's crap and you know it. She wants this she just doesn't want to force Coop into it. Part of me wants to just go over there and punch him in the face for being such a blind idiot. Hello my sister just got a death sentence and all your friends are vampires and you don't even think about that to save her."

"Don't be too hard on him. He doesn't see me or any of the others as vampires. He sees us as people. I honestly think he forgets sometimes. Like when he goes to offer me a drink or he wants us to go to the beach with them during the middle of the day. Danielle is very aware and always tries to find the shady spot if we're outside or knows she doesn't have to raise her voice for me to hear."

Seth reached back and pulled Allie over the edge of the couch to sit on his lap. "Then its time he wakes up and remembers what world they are a part of. He has to change his mind."

Allie knew Danielle didn't want to be pressured or have anyone speak to Coop. "I promised her I wouldn't say anything to him. I made many of these points with her already. She is set on this course right now, but I think I might have made some segway. You love her and don't want to lose her, that's understandable, but you also have to respect her wishes."

He is about to counter her once more but she places her fingers to his lips. "I know, believe me I know what you want to say but right now what she really needs from her brother is your love and your support."

Al the air went out of him. Allie was right and he knew it. He could argue with his sister until he was blue in the face and all he would do is upset her. She was stubborn as hell when she set her mind to something. He wouldn't agree with it but until he found a way to change her mind he would have to be there for her.

"I won't stop trying to find a way to fix this."

"Neither will I and I'm sure no one else will either. Your sister is a good woman with many who love her."
