A couple of hours had gone by ever since John joined Lita, Mikayla, and Anthony back at his house. The two adults hadn't said much to one another after leaving the hospital mainly because Lita decided to make some space between herself and John. They hardly crossed paths with Lita staying upstairs in Anthony's room while he rested and John taking care of Mikayla, only going into Anthony's room every now and then for a couple of minutes each time. John knew the reason why Lita kept her distance was because of what happened at the hospital but he didn't think it was a big deal especially since she herself said it was a mistake. Whatever the case with Lita, John decided he was going to give her some space and let her be.

Currently, John was in the nursery folding and putting away some clothes of Mikayla's that he washed that day. There was a lot he let accumulate over the last couple of weeks which he was mow regretting. Mikayla was in the room as well and was playing with some toys. Or maybe chewing the toys would be more accurate to describe what she was doing. John was almost finished with the task when he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He was about to just stuff the last couple of pieces of clothing in the drawer, but decided against it. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and wasn't surprised to see it was Mickie who was calling because she did call around this time every evening to check to see how Mikayla was doing.

"Hey Mickie. What's up?" John said after answering the phone.

"Hey John," Mickie replied from the other end of the phone. "How's Mikayla?"

John looked over at the little girl before answering Mickie's question. "She's good. She's trying to eat some of her toys." He chuckled when he thought of something. "She plays with her food and chews her toys. I guess that makes sense to a baby, huh?"

"I guess so," was all Mickie said in response to that before she slightly changed the subject. "So how was the zoo? Did Mikayla have fun? Or did the animals scare her?"

John didn't answer right away, instead thinking about the events of the long day. "Um we didn't go to the zoo," he replied after a while.

"Oh. Okay. Why not? Did you decide to just stay home then?"

"Um no. Not really. We still had a pretty eventful day."

Mickie waited for John to elaborate, but he didn't. "Uh huh. And?"

"We took a little trip somewhere else."

John could hear Mickie sigh on the other line. He knew she was getting tired of his vague answers. "John, cut the bullshit and tell me what happened because clearly something happened today. So tell me what happened before I jump to conclusions and I'm sure you don't want that."

"We just took a little trip to the emergency room. Anthony and Mikayla are going to be doctors. They're going to open up their own private practice. They wanted to get a little head start on everything."

"Right now is no time for your pathetic attempt at a joke," Mickie said as calmly as possible. "I know my daughter was not the reason for your little visit to the emergency room because you know better than to wait until I call in the evening to tell me."

"Before you freak out, let me tell you Mikayla is doing great like I previously told you. Nothing happened to her, she's healthy and all of her bones are intact."

Mickie sighed in relief at his answer. She was glad there was nothing wrong with Mikayla. "So how's Anthony?" She asked after she realized if something didn't happen to Mikayla, then it meant something happened with the boy.

"Um he'll be fine. Just in a cast for a couple of weeks. It's gonna be a touch task trying to keep him tame."

"A cast?"

"Yea. He was jumping on the bed and fell off, just a minor fracture."

"And where were you when this jumping on the bed thing happened?"

John rolled his eyes. "He's not your kid so don't worry about it. Lita and I already had a discussion about this-"

"It could have been my kid so I'm-"

"Mikayla can't even stand up right now so no, it couldn't have been her."

"Don't start with me. Look John, if this is too much for you having both of them by yourself especially now that Anthony is hurt, how about I pick up Mikayla."

Here we go again, John thought to himself when this was beginning to sound like the earlier conversation with Lita. He had to bit his lip and calm down before he exploded on Mickie. He took a deep breath before speaking. "I'm going to tell you what I told Lita. Both of them are my children and I don't care if either of you don't trust me with them. Quite frankly, I still don't trust you fully with Mikayla but the law is forcing me too. I'm not the first or last parent whose child was injured. This stuff happens so let's not overreact."

"All I'm saying is that if you can't give Mikayla the same attention because you have to give Anthony a little more, then let me take her off of your hands and it will be easier for you."

"It's already easier. Lita won't leave Anthony."

"Okay. Well, I hope he feels better. You know where to find me if you change your mind-"

"Not gonna happen. Bye." He hung up before Mickie could have the chance to say anything. He was really getting sick and tired of these two acting like he didn't know what he was doing. It was getting old real fast.

Meanwhile, in Anthony's room, Lita felt very bored and awkward just sitting there besides a sleeping Anthony. Anthony was awake just a couple of minutes ago, but he kept complaining about the pain again so she gave him something to eat the medicine the doctor prescribed and he fell asleep soon after that. And now Lita was just sitting around the room, looking around her surroundings, not knowing what to do. She didn't want to leave the room because she didn't want to run into John which she was successful with when she went down to the kitchen to get Anthony to take with his medicine. She didn't know why she was acting this way because she knew the kiss meant nothing at all. She didn't know what came over her at the moment. It just happened and now she was so embarrassed and felt very stupid.

The redhead let out a sigh as she looked over at the clock in the room and saw it was only seven in the evening. It was still too early to go to sleep especially since she wasn't tired in the first place. Lita felt like taking a walk, but she didn't want Anthony to wake up to an empty room or even just John with him if she was still out and he woke up. She knew that wouldn't go over too well with him because he asked her if she was leaving again and he told her he didn't want her to. He would think she left him if he woke up and she wasn't right next to him like she was before he fell asleep and probably start crying which she didn't want.

Lita picked up the phone from besides her and saw she had a couple of texts and some missed calls from that day. She forgot her phone was still on silent from when she turned it on silent when at the hospital. She missed some calls from her mom and sister which she would return later because she didn't feel like talking to either of them at the moment. She also had some calls and texts from Dawn. As expected, the texts from Dawn were asking why Lita wasn't answering any of her calls.

Lita dialed Dawn's number and was about to hang up when it didn't seem like the brunette was about to answer her call. But she heard Dawn's voice just as she took the phone away from her ear.

"It's about time you called me back."

Lita rolled her eyes as she put the speaker back to her ear. "You're loud. I was about to hang up so I had the phone away from my ear and I could still hear you."

"You know I didn't call for you so I don't care what you say," the brunette said as she decided to kind of ignore what the redhead just said. "How's my little man doing? I want to talk to him. I miss him and I know he misses me, I'm his favorite."

Lita looked down at a sleeping Anthony before answering Dawn's question. "He's sleeping. He had a long day but he'll probably be awake when the pain starts kicking in again."

"The pain? Is he sick again?"

Lita shook her head then remembered Dawn couldn't see her. "No. Um, he was jumping on the bed and fell off. He hurt his elbow. It's fractured so he has a cast around it."

"Aw. Poor baby. Is he okay? Well, obviously he's not. But is he okay?"

"He will be."

"I guess you can't get on Randy anymore-"

"I can because Anthony wasn't with me when this happened."

Dawn waited for Lita to elaborate, but she didn't. "What do you mean? Where were you? Was he with your mom?"

"John," came Lita's simple answer.

"Oh. He's there? Mickie actually let him come there? Like, what the hell is wrong with her?"

"No. I'm in Tampa. Mickie... I don't know what's going on with her and I really don't care. Anthony was really missing John so I decided to just bring him down here when John said he wouldn't be able to make it again this week."

"Oh."

"Yea."

"So what are you doing? What's going on? What's new with you? I feel like we haven't talked in forever. Fill me in on all the details." Dawn didn't receive an answer because Lita was busy contemplating whether or not to tell Dawn what happened earlier that day. She felt like sharing with her friend, but she was hesitant because she remembered remembered how Dawn reacted the last time. "Li-"

"I did something horrible," Lita blurted out, interrupting the other woman. "I don't know why I did it, it just happened and I don't know why. It was stupid. It was such a stupid thing to do and I'm such an idiot. When will I ever learn?"

"Okay okay. Calm down. If you killed someone, I'll totally be your alibi."

"What? Dawn-"

"Sorry, I've been watching too many crime shows. Okay, um what are you talking about? Relax, take a deep breath, and start from the beginning."

Lita nodded, but didn't speak right away. She waited for a moment before she went into the details. "Listen first then judge. Actually, don't judge at all. I'm already... Just hear me out before you freak out and yell at me again."

"Um yea, okay. I'll just listen. Go for it."

Lita didn't say anything right away because she was getting her thoughts together, but then it all just spilled out. "I don't know why I was crying, but I was. I was upset seeing Anthony like that in the hospital. I just couldn't stop thinking how it could be worse than him hurting his arm. I mean, he could have hurt his head and that could have been so bad. So then John hugged me and I then I kissed him." She heard Dawn gasp on the other end, but she didn't slow down to give her friend a chance to verbally react. "Why did I kiss him? I don't know. Why the hell did I have to do that? Oh, you hugged me, let me kiss you, that's the least I could do. What is wrong with me?!" She looked down at Anthony when the last words left her word because she became a little loud. Thankfully he wasn't disturbed and was still sleeping. "Like, seriously, why do I always do this? I'm done. We're done. That's never going to happen again. Why did I do that?"

Dawn was quiet because she was in shock and she really didn't know what to say. "Wow. Are you... did he... I mean... I don't know what to say."

"Yea."

It was quiet for a while until Dawn spoke up again. "You obviously still feel something for him and that's okay. You shouldn't keep it to yourself."

"Because it worked out so perfect the other times," Lita muttered under her breath then continued out loud. "Just because the feelings are still there doesn't mean someone should act on them."

"Why? Why avoid it when you know that's what you want?"

Lita shook her head. "But that's it, it's not what I want. I just want to leave that all behind me and forget about it. I don't... it's just... it would... terrible idea."

"Don't be in denial."

"Even if it was something I wanted doesn't mean it's the right thing. I honestly just want to move past that. It will never work."

"Who says? You won't know until you give it another shot."

"I guess we'll never know because I don't want to do that. It's not worth it. It's been years so maybe it's just lust at this point. I don't know. He has already hurt me plenty of times-"

"That was the past."

"-I don't want to give him another chance. This was just another moment of weakness, it meant nothing."

"But Li-"

"No," Lita shook her head as she interrupted Dawn. "I don't want to talk about this anymore. I don't even know why I told you. I just feel so stupid. I can't even face him. This is all so ridiculous."

"But-"

"Dawn. Please stop. Aren't you the one always telling me to move on? I'm trying to do that now, so why not just support me?"

"Well, he's not married anymore. And if John makes you happy-"

"I am happy. I don't need a man to make me happy."

"I know. I was just saying that I want you to be happy no matter where you find that happiness."

"I am," Lita insisted. "It was just a little moment of weakness. It just happened and it's nothing to worry about. I'm... it's stupid. I'm overreacting."

"If you say so."

"I do. So let's talk about something else. How's Edge?"

"Mean. He dragged me to this hell hole again. I don't know why he insists on bringing me here."

Lita laughed. Dawn could be so over dramatic sometimes. "He agreed to move to New Jersey, the least you can do is go to Canada and visit his family sometimes."

"They can come down to Jersey. No one's stopping them." Lita was about to say something, but she could hear Edge and Dawn talk about something. "Ugh," Dawn groaned as she continued to talk to Lita once again. "I'll have to call you back later. If I'm here, I might as well spend some time with the in-laws. You're lucky you're not married." She didn't give Lita a chance to say anything and hung up.

"Okay then."

Lita hung up the phone as well and placed it back on the night table next to her. She looked over to the left side of her and saw Anthony was still sleeping. She was beginning to feel very restless just sitting there and not doing anything at all. It didn't look as if Anthony was about to wake up anytime soon. Maybe she could take a quick walk and get back before he did wake up. Lita would just tell John to be with Anthony so he wouldn't be alone and upset if he were to wake up.

The redhead got up from the bed when she decided that walk would definitely do her some good. She left the door open to Anthony's room when she left and walked towards the nursery thinking that's where John could be. She peeked it and saw John playing with Mikayla.

Lita cleared her throat which gained her John's attention. "Um, I feel so cooped up so I was about to go out for a walk. Can you go to Anthony's room and go do whatever you're doing over there?"

John nodded. "Okay. Come on Mikayla, let's go play with your brother."

"He's sleeping."

"Um okay."

"Call me if he wakes up."

"He'll be fine with me."

Lita nodded. "I know, but still, just call me." John simply nodded and Lita left.

The redhead was just heading down the stairs when she heard the doorbell ring. She thought she might as well just answer it because she was already down there and was about to head out the door even though she felt uncomfortable answering the door at someone else's house. Lita opened the door and was too shocked to say anything by who she saw. By the looks on their face, they were just as surprised to see her. It had been a while since they saw each other and thinking about a lot that occurred in the last few years, she had a feeling the two standing in front of her probably hated her or were close to it. Afterall, she did keep their grandson away from them while she kept him a secret from John.
