AN: Thank you for those who took the time to leave a review! They are much appreciated and are honestly the inspiration that is keeping this story going.

WARNING: If you don't care for fluffy, skip the next chapter or two… although you'll miss out on the details that do somewhat matter ; )

As for those who asked for FitzSimmons (Salkri Kachemench), here you go my friends. Hope you enjoy!

Chapter 37 A Brit's Dilemma

Skye chuckled, easily admitting that Coulson had caught her off guard with the tie. She shook her head at the thought of the quirky ducks surrounded by bubbles.

It warmed her heart how far he was willing to go to help her deal with reality.

That is of course, when she stopped trying to understand the baffling concept of how he and the rest of the team genuinely wanted to help her as they patiently reassured her each time she questioned them.

But the nightmare was not forgotten.

Far from it.

It had been much too real to erase with a simple laugh and a confession. However unloading the burden and accepting that she didn't have to face the fact that she once had tried to commit suicide and had gotten much farther than she had on the bus, alone…

That…that she admitted had been cathartic.

The talk had also helped to ease the feelings of desperation for a swift end, giving her a tiny glimmer of hope for the small possibility of a future that she hadn't believed existed when she had woken up.

Pushing her thoughts aside, the analyst got dressed. She had given up on the idea of sleeping hours ago. Once Coulson had left, she decided the kitchen sounded more appealing than a bed that was a source of anxiety itself.

The hacker stopped in her tracks when she saw Simmons wearing the floor out with her pacing; one arm crossed across her abdomen while the other arm supported her hand and her bad nail chewing habit.

The biochemist looked up and ceased her activity. "Morning Skye," she greeted, surprised at the lit up numbers of 5:30am on the stove.

Skye simply gave a nod of acknowledgment, a little anxious that she had been spotted and couldn't make a retreat.

Its not that she didn't like Simmons, but 7 months of…bad consequences resulting from the tiniest, what he called, 'mistakes', her body was still trained to tense up around the others, not knowing how to specifically act.

I don't even know what normal is anymore, Skye thought sadly to herself.

Shaking her head, she was determined that she had to try. Thinking back to their friendship, Skye knew that Jemma reserved pacing for when she was anxious or just needed to "get the juices flowing to get out of a pickle," as Jemma would say.

Normal people would call it coming up with new ideas.

"Um...You ok?" Skye asked hesitantly, surprising her friend.

"Yes…well..." Jemma stuttered, still trying to get her footing from being caught off guard. She took a deep breath and sighed. The hacker had probably woken up from another nightmare and here she was with a dilemma that really wouldn't even be considered a problem with everything that her computer savvy friend was facing.

Skye grabbed a water bottle and sat down at the table, looking at Jemma expectantly. "Well, its Fitz' birthday next week," Jemma started as she pulled out a chair and joined her. "I don't know what to get him. He went all out for my birthday and I wanted to give him something special, but we don't have a run for supplies scheduled anytime soon so I'm stuck with whatever is on this plane. And I just can't think of anything," she continued, feeling slightly stupid for her worries in comparison to the last few months.

Placing her hands on the cap of the water bottle, Skye rested her chin on top of her hands, her mind already contemplating ideas.

"Its stupid really…" Jemma added, uncertain of what was going on in her friend's head.

Skye shook her head, before a small smile played on her lips. Without another word, she got up and walked back towards her bunk.

If not for the smirk, Jemma would have been concerned…

And if the scientist was being completely honest with herself, a small part of her still worried as she navigated the new friendship that had completely different limits surrounded by abnormal circumstances.

But Skye returned in less than a minute with her laptop in her hands, a smile still playing on her lips. She gently set her most valued possession on the table.

The hackers posture changed as the smile faded, nervous that her idea was stupid. She hadn't had any good ones in over seven months.

Skye was really beginning to hate that number.

The hacker refocused her attention on Jemma's expectant face. "You know how he's always talking about getting a monkey?" Skye started in a quiet and hesitant voice, not wanting to wake anyone up.

Jemma simply nodded, having had the conversation with Fitz quite a few times.

"What if we," she paused contemplating if she should risk it, "make him one?" Skye continued, closely watching Jemma's reaction.

At Jemmas confused face, She added, "on the holotable? I could write a program…"

"And I could help with the characteristics and transferring it over," Jemma finished for her friend. It took Jemma a minute to process the information before she jumped up exclaiming, "Skye! That's brilliant!"

Skye smiled back. "We got a lot of work to do," she stated after opening her laptop and beginning to write the code.

Simmons walked to her bunk, having to resist running to grab her tablet. She was not only excited about the present, but working with her best friend again. Except this time, there wouldn't be any bad girl shenanigans or shiny baldheads; although said shiny baldhead had been arrested, making the scientist not regret shooting him.

Once Jemma got back into the kitchen, she placed the tablet on the table as she searched for monkey videos. "I thought we could use some inspiration and real life behavior samples," she explained. "Is there anything that I can do right now to help?" the brit asked.

Right on cue, Skye's stomach growled. She bit her lip in embarrassment, but Simmons merely laughed before stating, "I am on it." She got up and started prepping her specialty of French toast for breakfast for everyone.

They mainly worked in silence with a few chuckles here and there at the furry little creatures. "Oh my god, you have got to make him do that!" Jemma exclaimed, watching one of the monkeys.

Skye smirked, "I'm already on it."

Jemma couldn't help but laugh out loud, imagining Fitz' face when he got his present. "Did I mention how much of a genius you are?" Jemma asked.

Skye smiled at the compliment, taking it in and relishing the warm feelings of comfort and support….That's what her school counselors in the past had kept referring to it as. She just called it the 'feels' in order to avoid the overly cheesy statement.

Once they heard Fitz' bunk open, Skye saved the progress and closed out of the program while Jemma locked out the tablet. Leo shuffled by, not fully awake, grumbling something that sounded like, "morning" as he headed to the common bathrooms.

Jemma tracked his movements till he made it to his destination, before turning to Skye. "He doesn't suspect a thing!" She whispered excitedly.

Skye shook her head at the other girls antics, a smile plastered on her face. "I need to work a little more on the program and we can test it out tomorrow morning," She stated, happy to have her mind off of things.

"This is going to be fantastic!" Jemma stated. "You know, this was really fun. Hanging out I mean," She added a little more quietly, as she placed the pile of finished french toast on the table.

Skye smiled in reply as Ward walked in, soon followed by Fitz.

"What are you smiling about?" Fitz asked, noticing Jemma's over exuberant smile.

"What. Me. Nothing. Nothing," Jemma stated before a giggle got out.

Skye had to resist giving herself a face palm.

"Um, I have to put my tablet away," Simmons stated, almost running out of the dining area.

The two boys focused their stare on Skye who just shrugged and pushed the full plate towards them.

AN: Hope you guys liked it, even if it's short! Good news, the next chapter should be up not to long from now. And I'm working on the more crazy chapters...so these will have to do for now.

Please feel free to take a minute to review and let me know your thoughts!

Any ideas for the monkey's name?
