Star Fox:
War for Corneria
Chapter 36
I own an original story, this is not that story.
Wolf cursed his luck once again. Leon had been more than ready, but Panther had been flirting with some lady. That blue vixen with a history with his mate, and she seemed genuinely interested in both him and the team. Admittedly, she was a good flier too, but having to hear Panther's serenades on the com line all day was really making his trigger finger itch. Krystal seemed to love it though. And he could use the extra pilot... one that could actually fly. Leon was a skilled assassin... on the ground... and Panther... well... was Panther.
"Cover me" Leon called, rudely interrupting Panther as he broke away from the group and charged an enemy mothership. Besides him, Falco had flown up to cover Leon, something he would never have expected to see three years ago. "There's no end to these guys" Falco called out, shooting down ship after ship. Then he noticed an incoming message from Fox, and his face morphed into a soft smile. "Damien O'Donnell" was all it read. The attachment drew a smile to his face. He opened the picture, and it immediately turned into a sneer at seeing his son in such a humiliating position. Then Fox' words registered in his mind, and he thought, yeah, I did not raise James to be weak. This Damien is something else.
He was happy Fox showed him this while Damien was well out of his reach, cause it would take him a while to get himself fully under control, and he did not wanna scare off his son's mate.
- Corneria-
As the Greatfox entered orbit, four ships catapulted out of the front docks, while a tank drove in reverse through the rear exit, dropping down, using the thrusters to keep it from dropping down too hard. The main cannons of the Greatfox blasted through a cluster of ships, creating a gap for Starfox to get to combat heights. Wave flew spear point, with Soul and Damien on his flanks. Fox flew control seat. James was plummeting to the ground in the middle of the group in the landmaster, having been bullied out of flying by Fox and Wave for now. "Fox, come in." Came Wolf's voice over the long-range encrypted signal. "Hey love, I was thinking of a theme for the wedding."
Fox could hear explosions in the back ground and was about to storm into combat himself. He thought how very much this was Wolf's way of doing things. "I thought black and white" Wolf continued, "a parody of the Cornerian ways."
Fox was giggling in his cockpit as he shot down whoever he could with Wave forging their path to the nearest Cornerian military base. "May I make a counter proposal? I was thinking of colors of the rainbow, a celebration of being different."
Fox quickly tuned down the sound of his radio as Wolf let out a howling laugh, that had every member of starfox scramble to get their earpieces out. "Simply Brilliant, Foxy." he said, "How big do you want it?"
"Saggasso National party?" Fox asked, trying not to sound too hopeful, as he knew Wolf liked his privacy.
"Sure, It's my people after all, all of them." Wolf said, "And wipe that smirk off your face. I got this rainbow suit you're gonna be wearing." and just like that, Fox was pouting again as he covered the team attacking a mother ship that hung over the base. In the distance, he could see Saggrasso ships in the skies, meaning they were not the only point of resistance.
- Saggrasso Space station-
A white wolf walked through the Arrivals gate of Saggrasso. Before heading to the conveyor belt that his belongings were on. Grabbing it, the id label again reminded him of his new name, Snow Lupus, from frigging Finchina. The Surgery had been expensive, but with two brand-new bionic eyes to fool iris scan, and paw prints wiped of any identifiable features, along with some changes across his facial build, he was sure that his own mother wouldn't recognize him, though she might call out to him if she saw him from the rear, but for that she needed to be alive, so that risk was slim to none.
He muttered to himself as he walked through the town he had tried to crush in the past, coming to a stunning realization. The people here were not so very different from the people in Corneria. Just good people who made some mistakes in the past. Just like me. He thought, making his way up to the main square. From there, he made his way to the glass elevators, surveying the area and the people as he moved up. Then he noticed a giant statue in the middle of town. Isn't that James McCloud? As the elevator went up and up, gradually people vacated one by one om majority of floors, until, with only three floors left to go, he stood there, alone with a black wolf, that seemed to be limping slightly, and wrapped in pressure bandages on most of his body. "I know that scent." the black wolf muttered, "If you wanna hide, change your perfume, Arti." he said without looking around. The wolf wore a sword and a blaster at his belt, and a long cloak covered in tribal symbols. He could not place those looks, but the voice sounded too familiar.
"Shade?" Arti asked, "What the hell happened to you, last time I saw you, you were a stuffy picture perfect politician."
"A friend of your general had my family assassinated. I made sure to get my revenge though." Shade replied, "I am not some stuffy politician, I'm a Fortunan Tribal lord, and I do not take treason from a brother lightly." then the elevator stopped, and Shade led them out through the top floor. He knocked at the door of Wolf's office, and soon, Ice called for them to enter.
"You wanted to see me? Shade said as he entered, immediately followed by Snow.
"Yes, We have a job to do." Ice answered
