She had known that someone was after her food, whether it was scones, cookies, or cakes; her treats always managed to disappear. Were she not so busy with her other duties, Sigrid surely would have watched the treats like a hawk, though that required time she did not have.
Sigrid had to force back a sigh; she had hoped that these cakes, so much smaller than she normally made them, would be left alone. With a sigh, Sigrid walked over to where the cakes lay and grabbed one; it was too good to ignore, especially with the chance that someone might steal the rest.
How much time had passed when her wife entered the kitchen, Sigrid would never know; it was hard to measure time in cakes eaten.
"What troubles you, Sigrid?"
"Oh, nothing but the usual stolen dessert."
"I told you, I could watch over your food for you; whoever has the audacity to steal from you can taste one of my arrows."
Sigrid blushed; she had always thought that a hungry servant, little Tilda, or one of the visiting dwarves (likely Dwalin) took them, hardly anyone she considered worthy of punishment.
"It isn't that serious, Tauriel," Sigrid replied, forcing back a smile; if she ever did say yes, she knew without a doubt that her wife would guard a cupcake with her life.
